Roberts Under Fire By Dodgers Fans… LA Dodgers News

Roberts under fire by Dodgers fans. Uh oh. You know, look, I could go I’m gonna go into the story right now. And you know me, Brad Jay covers the stories and Brad Jay doesn’t really harsh talk too much. But Dave Roberts on this one, I gotta speak out, man. I gotta speak out of what he did because to me it made no sense at all. Right. It makes no sense. So, and I go through and I look at messages every day and I see the messages saying Roberts needs to go, he needs to be fired. I don’t think that, but he does make some mistakes and I feel like yesterday’s game was one of those mistakes where you could examine the game all the way through and you’re going to figure out a few mistakes that he made. The number one thing that I thought that he did, all right, which put him under fire, is like, why the heck did my not play? Look, I know his routine. If it’s a day game, try to give Muny the day off. It’s a lot hotter. It’s more work. Blah blah blah. All this. But here’s a guy who’s been injured for almost, you know, for what, over a month, who hasn’t had a lot of playing, has had a few rehab stints, and then comes out, has one game, and then has the second game and goes absolutely bonkers and hits two home runs. Right? All that happens, and then what do you do the very next? Oh, oh, we got got to sit him. And then think about what Roberts even said. He said after that game, after the game the Dodgers won, the second game against St. Louis, he had said what Muny does is by his presence in the lineup makes the other batters better. That’s a freaking quote, man, from Roberts after the win. So, what do you do? Well, then put him on the bench the next game so the other hitters won’t be inclined to get hits either. What the heck? What is going on in Bizarro land? Let’s look at the numbers yesterday. Holy crap. I just That makes no sense, Dave. Okay, if you’re going to say that with Muny in the lineup, he makes the rest of the team better. And then only two games back you pull him to rest him, he hasn’t been playing. And then you just said that he Oh my gosh. Okay. So, what happens? You pinch hit him. Okay. Oh, that’s great. Well, he got a walk. He He should have been hitting because look at what the numbers are. Otani. Okay. Don’t give him Don’t get on him because he’s doing his thing. But Bats still had another hit. So happy to see Bats get a hit. Smith Oper with two Ks. Did not look good. Freddy still solid. Three hits for Freddy. Then Teao, who had two home runs the night before because he was playing with Muny, who also had two home runs, goes over with a with a strikeout. Okay, Pahz, he gets a run and a hit. Happy to see that. That was getting a little unnerving not seeing him do good. Miggy Road doesn’t even show up. 0 for three on that one. Conforto 0 for what is he? 0 for one for him, man. And then uh Alex was call three at bats and one hit for him. And uh wait, two hits actually two hits for him and he scored a run. Like to see that but and Freeland not good. 0 for four and he’s been playing some good ball. So once again it just I I don’t understand why you would do that when you make the statement that he makes everyone better in the lineup and everyone gets better and he’s had plenty of rest and you sit him and you sit him on a day where the next day is a day off. That does still doesn’t even make sense to me. Sorry. I’m just I’m choked up on this whole thing. I don’t like it. All right, but good news. Uh yesterday, Otani, let’s we need some good news here. Otani notched his 10,000th career major league hit a two-run blast. It’s so crazy to see the guy can strike out eight player, right? Eight eight batters and crush a home run and hit it as f as hard as he hit it. Uh struck out eight. Dodgers could not hold on to the late lead. Lost five to three. Bullpin implosion on that one. uh the Cardinals on Wednesday afternoon at Dodger Stadium. So, congratulations to Show. But yeah, another dod another bullpin implosion by the Dodgers. They just don’t need these bullpin implosions. But okay, answer me this. Answer me this people. Okay, Otani pitches four innings. Hasn’t the last couple of games he’s pitched four innings? Has he gone over four yet? And why wouldn’t he go over four at this point? Why wouldn’t you run him out there for a fifth? He’s struck out eight guys in four innings. He only gave up two hits in one one earned run. So, he’s pitching well. I mean, I I look at, you know, you got Robleski who did good the first two innings and then had a little bit of hiccup, but he lasted three innings. He would not have had to have that that hiccup in the last inning if Otani goes five. Why don’t you have Otani go five? I don’t think the pitch count was out of control either. So, it’s like that doesn’t make sense to me. He’s on fire. You almost gave that win away by pulling him after the fourth. That’s what I thought. I mean, and then Vessia, look, he’s human. He’s not going to get them all. Gave up three hits, two runs, one earned, takes the loss, walked the dude. Like, definitely out of character for Vesia. A 247. Then Stewart, let’s bring Stewart in so he can give up another run. Why is that not switched? Wouldn’t Stewart be after Robleski? I don’t know what Robert’s got going here. Is Stewart now the closer? Because that’s what it seems like he’s doing. and he’s putting him at the end at most of these games and you know it’s just it’s not going the way it should go. So there you go. That’s the way it is. Five innings I think show should be pitching now, right? I I don’t think you and and if if you’re going to give up 12 hits in a game to a team, your offense better show up and the offense for the Dodgers obviously did not show up. So that’s just how it is. Sometimes it shows up, sometimes doesn’t. Hey, subscribe, like, turn on notifications. uh getting close to that 8,000 mark, trying to be 10 by the end of the season. So, we’ll see how that goes. All right, let’s get bookmack into the stories. Um uh you know, let’s examine that three team trade. Was that good? A lot of people were saying the three team trade was good, it was bad, it was this, it was that. But if you listen to what Jim Bowen did, and Jim Bowen, you know, a lot of people either like him or don’t of the athletic, uh was a big fan of the trade and he laed the decision maker. He gave him credit and Jim Boutton is harsh the Dodgers before. So, so for him to say what he said, Andrew Freeman for pulling the trigger on Monday. He said the most creative executive. Why? Because Dodgers president baseball Andrew Freeman who once uh who once again won a three-way trade this time with the Reds, the Rays, the Reds, and Netted Los Angeles lefty Adam Sinowski and righty Paul Jerves and catcher Ben Roett. That’s what he wrote. Okay, so you think about it and go, what is that trade? A lot of people harshed that trade and said it was a bad trade for the Dodgers. Why would they do that? Is it really a bad trade? Think about it. Jesus Rover were the two players that arrived in the deal from Tampa, right? While Sirinowski came from the Reds, there are only three others involved. Fushia, who went to the Rays alongside the Reds, right-handed pitcher Brian Van Bell, and the right-handed pitcher Zack Little, who went from Tampa to Cincinnati. So, you look at the numbers and look, what did the Dodgers give up? They they gave up Feducia, right? So that’s what they did. Was it a good move? Right. Certainly not a trade that’s going to make them like so much more improved to win the World Series. No. But this, if you think about it this way, it gave them two new pitchers that could amount to something eventually in exchange for slightly downgrading their third string catcher spot. And when you look at it that way and you look at it, yeah, they just slightly downgraded the catcher spot by getting rid of Paducia, but they ended up getting two guys that could do something that might be able to do something. Young pitchers and always good to be a lefty. You heard me say that many of times, but only history is going to determine whe Dodgers won the trade. But certainly makes sense from a logical perspective. Yeah. And if the pitchers, if they show up and they do good and they start making something happen for the Dodgers, then do you say that’s a bad trade? You don’t. But, you know, time will tell and we’re going to have to see what it does on that. All right. Uh, next game for the Dodgers that is going to be tomorrow night and that is going to be Max and Kur going at it. Man, what a matchup this is going to be for some Friday night baseball. Looking good for this. So, Max Scherzer uh going against Kershaw 4-3 run. That’s what Max is. 4-39. That is what his ERA is. 329. So, pretty evenly matched. You look at the KS about the same. 42 for Kur, 44 for Sherzer, and that is going to be the matchup when the Dodgers uh go head-to-head tomorrow night. So, looking forward to see that game. And that’s going to wrap it up. Dodgers Digest. Another one in the books. I’m Brad Jay. As you go through the day, always remember to think Dodger Blue and let’s go Dodgers. Boom.

  1. Nothing with zroberts makes sense. I wore Muncy's jersey and didnt PLAY! Then the biggest deal taking Ohtani out when he had 8 strikeouts then Roberts takes him out then went down hill from there. FIRE ROBERTS!!! He must love his pitchers; theyre terrible!!!!!! Get rid of him

  2. I still don't think he has any say in the lineup. He gets his orders from upstairs and it's been that way since he was given the job years ago.

  3. LAME ROBERTS NEEDS TO BE FIRED NOW….🔥🔥🔥THIS DIP💩ALWAYS GETTING OUT MANAGED BY TEAM WITH FAR LESS TALENT DAY IN. AND DAY OUT….MUNCY EVEN SAID HE “FELT GREAT “AND DIDNT KNOW HE WASNT IN THE LINE UP VIA TXT…🤬…THIS INCOMPETENT TWERKING MGR. NEEDS TO GO …❗️

  4. Must win series he has to play like all games now or must win series. So when it gets close to the end they're already in that mode. No excuses for the man

  5. Brad, Dave sat Muncy yesterday because he played Friday, Saturday and Sunday for OKC, flew back with no off day and played Monday and Tuesday for the Dodgers so 5 games in a row and a quick turn on a 6th game in a row if he had played. They need Muncy rested for the Jays. I don't know why Otani doesn't go by pitch count instead of by innings. I agree, let him pitch another inning. Vesia was due to have an off day so can't blame him. Friedman is starting to get a lot of heat from Dodgers fans for not doing much at the trade deadline. Treinen, Kopech and Graterol will help the bullpen.

  6. sorry buddy, this looks and feels a whole lot different, can he not see those pitches coming out flat? That's his and Pryor's job! this bullpen is not ready for prime time high leverage!

  7. When I saw Roberts was sitting Muncy, I had to adjust my pacemaker. Dumbest move I have seen in a long time. Now we are only 2 games in front. We are in trouble.

  8. Dodgers should be at least 71-44 instead of 66-49 all because of poor decisions by Roberts. They score 3 runs in the 1st 4 innings against Cards and nothing at all in the last 5 innings. That crap needs to stop!

  9. Brad you mentioned the rest thing which factors into it, he also has a .499 OPS against lefties, hitting .148 with a .221 OBP compared to a near 1.000 OPS vs. RHP. There are plans to every move that is made. Ohtani and the medical/training staff have a plan to stretch him out and they are sticking to it as they believe it's the most effective and sensible way for him to rehab, and 4 innings was the goal. Vesia didn't have it and neither did Stewart, who knows if Treinen was available, the offense needed to show up, hard to ask your staff to give up two or fewer runs.
