I think my favorite part of this season is eating crow on the “Maikel Garcia should be DFA’d ASAP” take from last season. All he’s done this season is be an absolute dawg in addition to developing that incredible batflip for walks.
All last year I said if he could make contact and get on base more he would be so good. He steals a ton of bases and is great defensively.
Some people were wanting to trade Garcia to help get a better offense. He is one of to top hitters on the team and maybe MLB.
Our boy deserves an extension.
Machado at 30 million a year, Ramirez at 19, Garcia at 775k. I hope he loves it in KC. It’s a breakout year but clearly he needs paid.
Plate discipline means so much and the improvement in launch angle. Good for him. This “feels” sustainable. Coupled with the great defense having that left side of the infield locked down feels good
Mike saw a great bump up in both EV and launch angle this season. He was always among the league’s best baserunners and defenders; he’s a solidly above-average hitter now as well.
I really love seeing well-rounded players like him being properly appreciated.
Long-term I think he can keep up the elite contact % and low chase rates. If he could add just a couple more degrees to his launch angle he could easily top this list in the next couple of years.
I need to get a fucking Jram auto card, don’t I?
Last year I was so pissed at him every time he didn’t run out first base, he would just hit into an out and give up-I think there are a couple times that the ball got bobbled that he would have made it if he hustled. Now, seems like he hustles more, tries harder and just all around seems to give a fuck. Thank you Volpe for pissing our man off, you started this fire in the playoffs last year.

He’s finally getting the ball in the air and his chase % is elite.
