Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel Sets the Record Straight on the Tua/Tyreek Dynamic | The Rich Eisen Show

Let’s just jump into Tua Tyreek and that conversation that folks um in my business have been having since. Well, is this a is this a somber conversation? No, I feel like No, I feel like you just you channeled your therapy voice, sir. Oh, hold on a minute. Hey, Mike. So, listen. Um it’s great to see you. Um you know, your quarterback. You’re a fun participant. No, no, no. Listen. No, no. This this was wild to me that your quarterback steps to the podium and just talks openly about stuff that’s going on behind the scenes, maybe with him and his receiver and the rest of the team needing to come together um for for obviously team uh binding purposes here after Tyreek uh ended the season the way he did last year. And I’m wondering, were you aware that Tua was going to go to the podium about that sort of thing? Um, clearly you got your finger on the pulse, but I’m just wondering if if if you knew this was going to be so open for two. Yeah. No, I think um that’s a uh you know, when if you’re you’re trying to be great at anything, if you’re trying to be better at things, if you’re trying to evolve, if you’re trying to be um if you want your team to be better, you want to be a better leader. I think that was something that um you know at that point the you know to the credit of the conversation that the the the the two men were working on a relationship. I think um you know both both parties are were just kind of tired of um you know and just over the semantics of it like hey these are people that are working on the relationship. I think the power in that is um you know both of the players um have le have like most relationships you learn and you grow um and when you invest uh you go through whatever um but the relationship becomes more real. So I thought it was a um you know maturation or a graduation of of Tua as the leader of the team and also I think it speaks to how healthy they are because um you know been that many opportunities for the public to see him interact um but as um time passes you’ll see a more connected um uh you know relationship and and really the the they’re not hiding from anything. I think there’s something empowering um from their standpoint uh when when they are on on the platform that they are on. Well, I mean obviously you know you’re you’re as astute as they come. You know the us who talk about it think that that’s got to be a negative as opposed to hey it’s two guys getting something out or a team getting something out together and you can actually grow into a collective that’s more healthy and open and that’s part of your gig too is to is to sh that through you know. Well, more often than not, you’re probably right. Um that that’s, you know, kind of erroneous for this particular situation. And and I think that that again, I think that’s um you’re seeing people evolve uh in different circumstances. People go through stuff um and you have a choice to mature and um grow or or be the same. And and I think uh those those two seem to be up for the challenge. I I I see better here. And I see a better relationship based on um the facts of uh the moments that I see them spend and the investment and the the plans that they make and how many times they’ve hung out with each other this off seasonason and they’ve been over to each other’s houses and invested the time. You get you get out what you put in. So they’re they’re putting in the work um that’s real and uh transparent. So obviously though it it will come time to play football and would you consider this matter put to bed then Mike McDaniel? I think um I think the matter is one of two things. it’s a um it’s a a tipping point for evolution or um so I I think it matters in that uh you know the way that they’re approaching it as a source of a a creation of a a very strong relationship that um needed to be mended uh and and you know I think so to that point um if you ch there’s a lot of scenarios where you could choose for it to reveal itself again. Um, but that’s not healthy direct communication that’s straightforward um to the point of mass media. So, I think I think there uh it serves as a as a point that um if you put in the work and there’s the right intentions that that they’ll be proud of. 1. Wonder if the dolphins can beat any teams with records over .500 this year or play a game below 45°F feels like that should be more of a story than Tuas feelings

  2. McDaniels needs to do what Shula done in the 70s and be strict and tough on these guys and get them in a strong fiscal and mental state . That what a great coach does to win a superbowl

  3. I'm so done with the extended honeymoon that the media has with "boy genius" Mike McDaniel. He hasn't done a thing that says he's head coach material. He's a fine assistant coach no doubt but not HC material. He'll make a fine, quirky, witty studio analyst on Fox or ESPN one day.

  4. This team needs a rebuild! Tua’s going into year 6- never won a playoff game- Can’t stay healthy. Tyreek is age 31 acting like a diva. And EVERY experiment failed (Chubb, OBJ, Poyer, Ramsey)

  5. Fun fact# McDaniel inspired the character Pauly shore.

Serious tip # stop kissing dudes McDaniel… Your now the goofiest and softest coach in NFL history congratulations Ross.
