Why? Because The Brew Crew has a actual coach. Pat Murphy has won at every level. It's why they have the best record in Baseball. We have a guy with 37" on a empty jersey that waits for instruction from his boss John Moe. "DUDE!" as all you St Louis sports media folks overuse on empty ears…..It's not rocket science?
I loved watching the Cardinals win the series out in LA, but this headline triggers a "pet peeve" of mine. There is no such thing as "small ball." It's just BASEBALL. I HATE the term "small ball." If a quarterback throws a couple of short passes to score a TD, did he play "small football"? NO. It's just FOOTBALL. If an NHL player gets close to the net and makes a great fake then a flip of the puck past the goalie, did he play "small hockey"? NO. It's just HOCKEY. When Larry Bird would set up for a 3-pointer, then step back and fire a bullet pass to Robert Parrish under the net, and Robert slam dunked it, was Larry playing "small basketball"? NO. It's just BASKETBALL. . .And in Larry's case SMART BASKETBALL. Point is, there are many ways to score in most sports, and smart players and smart teams use as many ways as are available to dominate and win a game. The term "small ball" really sounds demeaning to me. Actually, it's often the smarter way of scoring used by players who have a higher IQ for the sport they're playing than most of their opponents. I'll finish this with one of the most intelligent athletes of all time. . .Muhammad Ali. When Ali let an opponent try to catch him, while punching themselves out as Ali just "floated like a butterfly and stung them like a bee", until he finally wore them out and finished them off. . .Was Ali playing "small boxing?" NO. It was just BOXING, actually SMART BOXING. Putting the word "small" in front of the sport's name makes it sound like something an athlete or a team that isn't very good had to resort to in order to win. But what that athlete or team actually did was show that they're aware of all the ways they can defeat their opponent, and they're smart enough to employ every option the sport gives them to get the job done. So, I wish people would stop with the "small ball" nonsense. I hate when writers and broadcasters use that term. . .And especially when former athletes use it. They, of all people, should know better!
JD, I personally like your "ugly shirt", in fact I wish I had one.
So so may strike out after the all-star game you would think it was 1967 and Bob Gibson was on the mound every game.
Pitching against the redbirds The team has 107-K after all-star game
