Steelers Sign Former Saints Pro Bowler LT

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed another tackle as injuries pile up and the Pittsburgh Steelers deal with a groin injury to Brick Jones and a soft tissue, likely an oblique injury for Calvin Anderson, who has missed several days now. They went out and they got Andrew Pat, the former New Orleans Saints, first round pick, pro bowler with the Saints, spent nine years starting in New Orleans at a guard spot, but can play tackle as well in Pittsburgh. You don’t know where he’s going to play. You don’t know where the injuries are are higher. You don’t know where the priorities higher, but I could see him doing a little bit of both. Tackle is where I see him fitting the best. The Pittsburgh Steelers don’t want to push Jones. They’ve been very comfortable in in nursing him slowly along and just kind of building up. Pay, you take a couple of plays during team and then you come off for the rest of the team drill over the last week or two since that groin injury occurred. Calvin Anderson missing time. It’s a lot of Dylan Cook right now. You probably want another veteran, especially somebody who could compete for a roster spot as they head into the last three weeks of pre-exhibition or pre-regular season as they make the final roster decisions. Uh, Pott is a massive human being and and that’s going to help certainly at 31 years old. He could come in here and provide a veteran body for a season that the Pittsburgh Steelers are really looking for right now. It’s a move that honestly is not terrible. It’s not a bad move. The Pittsburgh Steelers have needed a tackle. They have not had a swing tackle. Brick Jones has struggled at training camp. They could certainly use the boost there. Aron Wild probably isn’t a starter right now for the Pittsburgh Steelers. If they need him, they can go out and get him or they could go out and make him their starting left tackle or utilize him at guard. I mean, it opens the door for Spencer Anderson to play tackle. It opens the door for more Dylan Cook and to allow some versatility there. It opens the door for him to play guard and tackle and fill two positions that the Pittsburgh Steelers potentially need. Either way, it’s a veteran signing that I think everybody was pounding the table for for the last several weeks. Now they have it. Andrew Piet heading to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He’ll begin today. Don’t know if he’ll play in the preseason game, but big news. And the Pittsburgh Steelers add, I don’t want to say boost, add to their offensive line heading into Jacksonville.

  1. This seems like a wonderful move if he can still play and even better if I can play more than one position. The largest concern I have for the team is the depth of the OL.

  2. Brod just needs to freaking focus and know the situation. His motor is fine and his skills are excellent. It’s his play recognition and technique giving him problems

  3. Sorry Broderick, think you've had enough time to try to get your stuff together and prove that you could be left tackled, and you just haven't done it. Time to be replaced for Roger's health and safety.

  4. This is an EXCELLENT move !! Thank Goodness this is Solid solid move securing the OLine ! Broderick has been a ????? This solves that Major sore spot on Roger's blind side !!! 😎🇺🇸🇺🇸

  5. Consistent injury proned Broderick Jones spends more time on DL than on the playing field. Is the lack of game availability worth the salary they pay ? Comes a time to rethink what is best longterm for this team.

  6. He's a guard, his tackle years are way in the past, maybe in a pinch in a game they could but starting or playing tackle reguraly is not the case.

  7. Because Jones is a bust and was yanked out of camp several times and didn't even look like he wanted to be there. A bunch of our D rushers took him to school !! Saw it with my own eyes while I was at camp.

  8. Broderick Jones is NOT good, and this delusion that he’ll suddenly “pick it up” is ridiculous… I’m not sure if it’s a confidence, skill or intelligence issue or a combination of all 3, but it’s clear he’s not the long term solution we’ve been hoping for.

  9. If Jones turns out to be a bust (sure looks like it) y’all ain’t coming for Kevin Colbert no more. Khan’s first two picks ain’t done squat on the field.
