Paul Skenes has a 1.94 ERA in 24 starts this season 😳

89 and then 98 mph. Elite fast ball velocity. But the ability to do that right there. Pull the string with a change up. 100 miles an hour. He got him. He got him. Got him to chase the fast ball. Good night. And Zane Smith back in 90 in right there. There’s the change up. Yeah, there’s that good change up that Paul Skins has got down below the zone and he strikes him out.

  1. Paul Skenes is the weirdest pitcher I’ve ever seen tbh. Just everything strikes me as weird. Left handed batter. The first pitch could be a changeup and it’ll be low for a ball. The second could be a fastball that is WAYYYY high and outside. I mean In the right handed batters box. The third will be another changeup to make it 2-1. He will throw a fourth pitch on another high and outside fastball to get a chase swing and miss. The fifth pitch will be a sweeper either hit foul or for a ball, and then then he’ll throw a 99mph fastball on the low and inside corner. It’s just so odd because he throws SO many pitches every AB. Would it be called erratic, effectively wild? Because he is getting out of these outings with little to no damage. I mean he gets hit around a lot. People always seem to be on base, but he manages to escape them. I don’t mean weird in a bad way, but usually pitchers want to get in the zone and expand and it seems he’s expanded and crunches. Just never seen it before really
