Milwaukee Brewers will make World Series – Isaac Collins joins MLB Now on Brewers hot streak & more

Rookie of the month for July, Isaac Collins. Isaac, how does that sound right there? Amazing. Uh just grateful. Really so grateful. Um how fun has this been this stretch that you guys have been on? Uh it’s it’s been so much fun, man. I mean, everyone’s contributing every single night. It’s a new guy every night. You know, the staff has been lights out, starters have been lights out, and then one through nine, um we’re just getting the job done. you know, just taking the game one pitch at a time and uh whoever’s called upon is just delivering for us and just executing and you know, that’s Brewers baseball for you. Yeah, dude. I want to talk to you about that because I got so excited. Your culture, your chemistry, your manager, like I love what I see because when you kind of get into big leagues and then you, you know, it’s like everybody becomes a little too cool. And I don’t know why that is because really it’s a game and we’re boys club and we love to play it and then you get to the big league sometimes and things change. I love what I see because it doesn’t seem like things are changing. You guys are having fun. You guys love each other. Everybody’s starting to know the role. But I think it starts with your manager. Tell us a little bit about Murf. Yeah, Murf’s just he’s a great manager to have. Um like you said, he just he asks a lot of us. Um and you know, we just go out there and just execute. You know, it’s it’s a team game. Um, you know, it’s an individual sport within a team game and, uh, everyone just has has a role. Everyone knows their role and it’s just, you know, executing your role and just being the best version of yourself that night. And that’s what Murf expects of us. And right now, that’s what we’re doing. And it’s, you know, every night, night in, night out. No doubt about it, dude. And I, and I love the fact that we’re getting to know all of you guys on a national level. It’s really great to see. And we’re getting to know, you know, your manager, Pat Murphy, a little bit. and we found out recently he likes to keep snacks in his back pocket. How often is he eating dugout pancakes? I’m not going to lie, that was the first time I had seen that. Uh I guess I’m just so focused on the game. I never knew he had uh snacks in his pocket the entire time. Uh but yeah, you know, I’m glad America saw that side of him and uh you know, pocket pancakes are here to stay. Beautiful. I know that that that was unbelievable. I’m like what that that you just love the dude cuz there’s some normaly about him but I want to get back to you that might not have been so normal which was in high school you were a two-time type sport football and baseball I need your scattering port on Isaac Colin the football player ready set go in high school so running back free safety uh you know smaller guy quick though um you know when I saw the hole I I hit it hard uh and you know had didn’t really have too crazy breakaway speed, but you know, super quick. You know, it’s a one cut guy getting north south and uh just find that hole and get to it. I love it, dude. Were you a stud in baseball in high school? Cuz I know the story that I love is that it took you a little while to get the show. I didn’t get there till I was almost 27 at 26 my rookie year. So, talk to us about the grind there and like when did it start kind of slowing down where you’re like, “Yeah, I’m ready.” Um yeah, I mean the minor leagues was uh a journey for me. Uh I repeated double A twice. That first year in double A was tough. Um and it it it really was just the mental side of things. Uh just not staying present, you know, chasing results, chasing hits. uh I worked I worked a lot with our uh sports psych department and um really dug deep into that and you know really I think last year kind of was a you know big point for me big turning point in my career as to you know I can I can play up here as long as I execute my approach and I just in the best version of myself every day um if I can do that you know I can provide for a big big league club up here. Yeah, absolutely. You’re doing that a very good job of that. Hey, I want to get off the field for a second. I’m really interested on this because we all choose to do things with our teammates away from the field, but one of the things you guys got to do was candle making and I want to know who made the best candle out of all the guys. First time I heard this. I mean, I’m going to have to go with myself. I loved my candle. Uh my wife doesn’t like it, but I I know I like it. Uh JB and uh Joey, they had some good candles, too. That was fun. That was honestly a good experience. I didn’t I didn’t know that uh business was open in Milwaukee, so you know, gave them some love and that Yeah, that was that was a good time. What was the scent you went with? Oo. Uh I went with like a a fall scent. I think I had like some apple cider in there. Uh like a a woody mahogany type type scent. Uh, you know, I was just it was what whatever it was, it was just calling to me and so that’s what that’s what I ended up going with. That’s so good. Yeah, dude. You’re a min Minnesota dude. That’s why I know Ryan would have went with Par Blossom or Plumbaria because he used to toot on the plane and would clear us out, but we’ll get to that, you know, down the road sometimes. Uh, thanks for sharing that. It was Yeah, you’re welcome. Um, you played back at uh the wear back in Cape Cod. I played for Howitch. You were in 2018, I believe, with Mr. Vaughn. Talk to us about that experience at the Cape because I want to know the job you had. That’s the biggest thing when you’re living with a host family and they make you work, which I was like, “Okay.” Luckily, my host family did not give me a job. Uh my host dad, he was a retired uh Navyman, though, so he took us out on his sailboat and he uh he actually taught us how to sail. I don’t I don’t really remember how to do that anymore, but you know, he had us working on the sailboat, which was honestly really cool. Uh, but no, no job around the house. Obviously had to keep things clean, you know, dishes, laundry, cleaning the bathroom every once in a while, but, you know, I wasn’t, you know, taking any eggs out of the chicken coop or whatever like some guys might have. So, uh, but no, that that was a great summer. Yeah, I met Vaughn out there. Uh, Bryson was another teammate of mine. It was uh oh another big turning point in my career. Dude, so cool, man. That’s awesome. And like I definitely wouldn’t have been able to live with that host family because I throw up on open waters. So I wouldn’t have been in that boat. But one thing I am capable of doing and that you’re getting ready to experience soon, you and your wife. You’re expecting your first child. How exciting is this? And do you have a registry that me and Kevin and Sierra can pick out a gift for you? Yes, we we do have a registry. Uh I’m not sure what the website name is, but uh uh yeah, we’re we’re like 11 days away. 11 days away. Uh my first son. Uh it’s just Yeah, I I can’t wait. I’m I’m so excited to meet him. Um and just, you know, go through this journey with with him by our side. Yeah, dude. Let me tell you, between the two of us and soon to be you’re going to be the third three of us, but we have nine kids between Ryan and I. There is nothing more special and that when you when when you’re 0 for fours and you’re four for fours and you come home and your little man’s going to be happy to see you. But I will say this and I and I set this precedence early. Ryan was completely opposite of me. He was a wonderful father. He traveled as a young age with the baby. Like I’m telling you like two three months he was coming out to Arizona. I’m like the dude was like a a manny. Not a nanny like a manny. But if you want, and I hope your wife’s not watching, don’t change the number two diapers when she’s around. Just act like like, “Oh my god, this is disgusting.” And then you could just be in charge of number ones. Obviously, when she goes away and gets break, then you’re going to be doing twos. But I would set that presence early because it becomes it becomes dangerous in there. I I’ll remember that. I’ll write that down. Super important. Hey, um I I’m going to go with this right here. Let’s time for a quick Corona vibe checks. Okay, this is where we kind of part of the show where we ask you who’s the player that sets the vibes for you before a game. Somebody that gets you pumped up or relaxed or whatever it is and ready to go. Player. Uh, I got to go with my fellow trainer. Oh, nice. Yeah, you always got to have a boy who gets it going. Yeah, good. Yeah, secret handshakes and stuff. Yep. Yep. Durban and I, we got our short kings handshakes. Nice. I love it, dude. Hey, and now I’m going to give you 30 seconds right now because in these moments, in these times, we don’t get a chance to thank somebody that was a huge impact that you want to give like 30 seconds of like this dude, this person, this mom, aunt, whatever was a huge factor in where you’re at right now. So, you get to go take the stage and and brag on somebody that’s been a huge influence for you. Wow. 30 seconds. Uh there’s too many people to thank, but I’m going to have to go with my wife. um mother of our future child coming here soon. You know, she’s been here. I’m going to get emotional. Sorry. Um she’s been here from the beginning. Um all the ups and downs, she stuck with me. Um and I’m just so grateful to have her. Yeah. I wouldn’t be here without her. Feel bad. So, dude, that’s so awesome, man. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you. Nothing like a great support system and you got a great one there in your home. Congratulations on uh on your upcoming baby. Um, we’re super excited for you and congratulations on being July Player of the Month. Uh, rookie player of the month. Really special stuff. Appreciate that. Thanks, guys. You got it, dude. Keep it going.

  1. As a life long Brewers fan, I am excited by the current play of this team, but they are the Milwaukee Brewers, the September collapse is seemingly built into this team's DNA.
