take us through the return, man. What’s What’s going through your head? Um, I mean, we had a great joint practice with them a couple days ago and uh I came close to breaking one in practice and after that I had told my called my dad and was just like, I feel I feel one coming tomorrow. Like, so I prayed all night and and I just trusted God and he he led me to the end zone tonight. I know that a lot of rookies, you know, they step out the first time, it feels really fast. H how did the game feel to you when that ball’s coming down? Uh at the end of the day, it’s football. I’ve been playing football since I was 6 years old. So, I mean, it was just second nature. I mean, and we we had we had a uh stadium practice the uh last week. So, I kind of got all my excitement and emotions out then. So, it was it was always better coming in the second time, more comfortable. Jonathan, what does a night like tonight do for your confidence? Not just a pump return, but also being involved in the offense as well. Um, if you know me, you know I I always have confidence. Uh, just because everybody overlook me. So, um, it don’t do nothing really. Um, it’s a great great performance by me. Great performance by the team. Uh, but I’m always have confidence. That’s just me. Katon said that you promised that you were going to take one back to the house at some point. Wouldn’t you make that promise and uh, you put some pressure on yourself to deliver on it? I didn’t put no pressure on myself. I just I just knew it was coming. Um, just by watching film and uh us practicing against them, I just knew we had them cuz we take special teams very very serious over here. So, I knew my guys was going to do their part. I just had to come in, do my part. Leonte, the Ravens talked about drafting you as a punt returner. Like, when you come in and achieve accomplish that success in that role right away, what does that mean? Uh, it it means great. I mean, that’s the reason, one of the reason why they brought me here is to become a game changer in the special team. And I I’m taking that role head on. I just got to keep improving every day in and day out so I could go ahead and lock the job, man, when the season start. You know, you know, your college coach, Dion, was pretty good returning. So, has he ever given you back ever give you any tips on returning? Oh. Oh, yeah. Definitely. Um, he just tell me that relax, be confident, and it’s my world back there. So, that’s some of the notes he gave me, though. Has he used your phone yet tonight? Uh, I haven’t checked it. Did they tell you when you got drafted that that they felt they really needed a jolt in the punt return game? Did Did they talk to you specifically? Uh, it was it was definitely um mentioned to me. Um, and I I kind of already knew that coming in. So, it wasn’t a a whole lot needed to be said. Um, I have a very high understanding of this game and my my position. So yeah, John, there was a lot of emotion through on the sideline. Kind of saw the hunger in your eyes. What was going on there for you in that moment? Ah man. Um I’ve been overlooked all my life in this game. You know, since I was 6 years old, I was still making plays. So for me to be able to overcome all of that and and get here and be able to um get my first uh NFL game uh touchdown in a game like this, like it was amazing. It was just a whole lot of builtup emotion and anger and frustration and crying, all of that. I just let it loose tonight. Jonty, when you’re settling in for that first punt return, just what’s what’s going through your head as that is all unfolding? Uh this this might be the one. That’s what I was thinking. Like I was I was real aggressive tonight. Like that was my goal coming in the game is to be aggressive and let God work do his work work his magic.
