And literally, no one has 30gs just sitting in their checking account. Monthly payments are the best way to get the used RV that’s right for your family. That’s right, Bob. Financing should be a stress-free process. But let me tell you a little secret. My granddaughters think I’m a model citizen when I was young once. And if you look back into my credit history, you can see that it wasn’t always excellent. Perfect credit is nice, but not easily achievable. You said it, Bob. But less than perfect credit is not a good reason to keep you from the great outdoors this season. I built our financing plans for the real world. And in the real world, nobody has a perfect credit score. So, let’s talk about how easy it is to make your favorite used RV affordable. As long as you promise not to tell Saxon and Goldie that I’m not perfect. No. No. RV.ca. It’s Gregorian speaking on sports 1440. This ball is hit deep to right center. Rookie of the year to Atlanta. Edmonton Elks in action out in Montreal. That one’s going to get going at 5:30 tonight. To kick it off and talk about it just a little bit. We’ll be joined by former member of the Elks, also from Elks Nation, Eddie Steel. I want to get his thoughts. He’s a former defensive lineman. What can the front four do to help out the back end and really help out that defense? Uh you’re going to have a little bit of a easier challenge when it comes to quarterback. Mloud Bethl Thompson, hey, he showed it last year. He can still sling that football. Uh but backup for a reason. Alo, ton of injuries. What is the mindset when you’re going into a game like that? And and what do you have to do? I’m sure we might get the basic answer of nothing changes. You just go play your game. But we’ll talk to Eddie Steele about that one. We’ve also got well a couple Olympic gold medalist. We’ll kick things off at 240 with Laurian Munzer, of course, cycling gold medalist. Talk to her about preparation. And I want to dig into her career a little bit as well and you know how did it all begin? Where did it start? When when did the goal become Olympics? Wana Gretz will be by. We’ll talk some Oilers with him. I’m sure he’ll want to talk about some of the weddings we saw over the past week. Also John Horn going to join us. He’s with Around the Horn Media in case you missed it yesterday out in Montreal. Victoria Mobokco winning over Naomi Osaka. Nice $1.2 million payday. American jumps up in the standings. What’s next? And I mean, can she sustain this? Can this be something that happens longterm for her? Can she be that next great Canadian hope? We’ll find out around 220. We’re also going to talk some curling. Big event coming to the Edmonton area later on in 2025. John Morris. It’s a curling legend, Olympic gold medalist, two-time. He’ll join us to talk about that. And we’ll talk a little bit about his career as well, playing against and with some of the greatest to ever do it. We got Camt’s two-minute warning. I’ll be reading that one. Bill Bender joins us from the Sporting News. We’ll talk some NFL and even a little bit of college football five questions and then I will depart because I will be heading to the Edmonton Elks watch party out at Sherlock’s north side location. Declan Krueger is going to slide into the chair. We’re going to get prettier on this stream. Declan Krueger taking over at 5:00. Mark Spectre and Alan Mitchell. Declan, might as well say hello to you and also get your texts in to the UL inbox. 183341440. Deck, how you doing today? Oh man, doing well. Elks game day. So, I’m always really excited for that. Um, passionate CFL fan. You know me. Weekend’s here. Uh, soccer game tomorrow. We’re looking to win two in a row. Wow. On a Saturday. Makeup game. Uh, yeah. Makeup game. Makeup game. But I’m doing well, man. You know, the vibes are high. Was this a short week? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So, short week going right back into the weekend. That’s cool. For sure. Um, oh, I just said this also at the end of the uh the lowdown. If anyone out there wants to sell me a Fogfest ticket for Sunday, please email me declansports1440.ca A or text in. That’d be greatly appreciated. Nice plug. You can sit on the hill. And why? Who’s performing? No idea. Oh, missed the show yesterday. Really wanted to go. Didn’t get a ticket in time. Didn’t get a second resale ticket in time. Wanted to see Rainbow Kitten Surprise. Missed it. Uh, but my friends texted me. They said, “You got to get a ticket for Sunday.” So, I’m going to try and get a ticket for Sunday. Are the Roots performing this year? Like Jimmy Fallon’s house band Grammyinning rap group? I’m I suppose yes. However you know them. I’m not sure. I have no I the only ones I knew were Serena Ryder and Rainbow Kitten Surprise last night. I have no idea who’s on the dock the rest of the weekend. I’m going for for the vibes. The music has surpassed me. Now it’s about the vibes. You just listen to whatever it is and enjoy it. I I mean there’s a lot of great things to do in the city this weekend. Of course, tonight. Let me grab my handy dandy schedule here. The Edmonton Stingers in action taking on Niagara. Also on Sunday, they’ll host Winnipeg. So, Dean, if you don’t get tickets to that, maybe you want to go watch the Stingers. If they win both their games and Calgary were to lose both their games, then all of a sudden the Stingers going to be hosting a game in the playoffs. And then you got the Edmonton Riverhawks in action tonight out in Victoria 7:35 first pitch and then over the weekend in Edmonton, home field advantage. Game two goes tomorrow and then if necessary, game three on Sunday. So, we got to jam-pack Remax Field and make that a hostile environment. I’m sure we will. It’s a great atmosphere for that. I threw this question out here on Fantasy Frenzy and Declan I want to ask you as well. Take away the experience of the sports, the atmosphere, indoors, outdoors. In the city of Edmonton, which sporting venue has the best food? Oh wow. Because you have to factor in price. Oilers games quite expensive. Oil Kings games, you get the kids menu. You don’t have to be a kid. Uh Riverhawks, you got the $5 menu. Or sorry, the Stingers, you got the $5 menu. the Riverhawks. Great local brews, some good food, hot dogs and such. Do you have a preference? I know the Elks got the the mini donuts. Like there’s there’s good food options at all of these games, but what would be your pick drinks-wise? Well, okay, I’m I’m splitting it up. Drinks wise, it’s the Riverhawks. Love what they’re doing. They got some great stuff. You drink it out of the beer bat, you feel like the coolest kid in the world. Drinks wise, Riverhawks 100%. Straight food. First of all, if you think I’m ever buying food from Rogers Place, you’re crazy. I’m not taking out a second mortgage to get a large popcorn. Which actually, by the way, I went to a UFC event one time at T-Mobile Arena. One draft beer was $18 American. It was It was 16 or 18, but it was 5 years ago. I think it was 18. I have the picture somewhere. Could not believe my eyes. That’s like I don’t even know what that Pro Rage 2 Canadian 24 25 something like that. Beyond ridiculous. The Edmonton Stingers, when it comes to pure concession, do it the best in terms of quality and price. It is a can’t miss. They are my number one food option. Chicken strips and fries, five bucks. Listen, we Who doesn’t quality? No one wants to admit they eat chicken strips between the ages of anywhere between the ages of 26 and 29 years old. But sometimes you just got to do it. They’re that good. I love my chicken strips and fries. Everyone loves their chicken strips and fries. I’ve never wavered from my love of chicken strips, tenders, fingers, nuggets. I never will, man. Like it’s all it’s just it’s so consistent. It’s really hard to mess up is the biggest thing. Like a good burger is great, but you can mess up a burger. A bad hot dog tastes like dog food, but chicken strips, you kind of always know what you’re getting. You can mask it with sauce if necessary. I mean, I’ve been there, Dean. I get actually what you’re saying entirely. 26 to 29, you go out for dinner to like a a mid-level restaurant and everyone’s like, “Oh, I’m going to get a something bowl or whatever.” And you’re like, “Chicken strips, please.” went I went on a date one time with a girl at Earls and she got chicken strips and in my mind I was like, man, really like chicken strips? But then the other part of me was like, that looked kind of good. I kind of I wouldn’t mind that. That’s kind of cool. She didn’t share any with Did she class it up and eat them with a fork and a knife? No fingers, man. She was Yeah, she was wild. That’s not your current girlfriend. No, she’s cool, though. Shout out to her. I know she’s cool. I can tell. I can tell. Certainly. You can tell by your order. Yeah. Oh, absolutely. Kevlar says the roots are playing. He thinks Saturday. Uh, Yapper texting in 1833 3411440. Legends of the fall made me go and learn how to fly fish on the river. That’s from two days a last month. Jesse Roer is really good to see. Very talented from Victoria. Also, the harpoonist and the axe murderer are a great vibe. Sounds threatening almost. But there you go. Those are some uh some things you might want to check out. And then Mount Joy Sunday from JP. I don’t know any of these bands, but if if I’m like Declan and I’m going for the vibes, I get it. Uh, get the Tex in 1833 411440. Last night in the CFL, an absolutely fantastic game, Dean, BC and Hamilton. Uh, back and forth. Maybe the the slower start in the first half and people weren’t really getting into that one, but once we got into the second half, uh, big plays being made, uh, we had what, 36 points total, led us into a great fourth quarter. The game goes to overtime. Uh Tim White for the Tiger Cats maybe doing a little bit too much. I don’t know if you would disagree with me on that one. When you’re the ball carrier and you have seven defenders around you, don’t fight for extra yards, man. Just just go down, live to play another day. Unfortunately for him, he kind of tries to make a play. Had a really good game, actually. Five catches, 84 yards. Nothing to uh to be too upset about, but he fumbles. BC Lions take over in overtime. Shawn White money, of course, and the BC Lions win the ball game. Kenny Lawler had one heck of a catch, Declan. I don’t know if you saw that one. Fully extended. I I love those grabs. So, great start to the CFL weekend for sure last night out in Hamilton. SGA honored. Did you get a chance to see the ceremony? Very cool for him to go back to Hamilton and and bring the LLB. Very awesome. I saw a little bit of it. Very, very cool to see a guy who at this point obviously you can make the argument is the best player in the NBA, you know, worldrenowned to a large degree, superstar, and coming back and repping Hamilton. Like, it’s very, very cool to see. Wish he was from Edmonton, don’t get me wrong, but it is cool to see a guy like that come back and stick to his roots and be proud of it, you know. Absolutely. Propane Pete text again, I feel this should be a 4-hour pregame show for Kershaw vers Sherzer. Just me. I mean, four hours would be a lot. Absolutely. The great news over the weekend we will have both Jay’s Dodgers games here on Sports 1440 on the radio feed only. If you do stream online, you’re going to get Fox Sports Radio. That’s uh you know pretty standard for radio markets outside of Toronto. They don’t want you streaming from us. They want you to listen to them. But if you’re in Edmonton and you’re on the radio, Sports 1440 going to have Jays and Dodgers. The game tonight. Absolutely. I talked to Spec about that yesterday. Now granted, if this was 5 years ago, this matchup might be a little bit more uh hyped up, but it still has the name value. Kershaw can still sling it. Sherzer, I mean, I I’m a believer. I’m a believer that he can go out there and get the job done. and the Jays playing some great baseball coming off I mean a historic beatd down of the Colorado Rockies got to keep it going here. Dodgers will be a great test. Then you got the Cubbies uh teams that are kind of right around them in the standings. These are really good test and you know the kind of baseball you’re going to get when you get into the playoffs. So hey start to ramp it up here. Get ready for that high high quality of baseball and it should be a fun one and the perfect like perfect night believe is it a 8:40 first pitch 8:00 and then you got the Elks at 5:30. So, they’re almost going to run right into each other, which is fantastic if you are a fan of the Alts and Jays. If not, well, maybe you don’t mind or not as excited. Kevlar said that his daughter went last night. Declan, Serena Ryder and Rainbow Kitten Surprise were awesome. I don’t know who these bands are, but very jealous. I would play some Rainbow Kitten Surprise if it wasn’t I would play some Serena Ryder as well, cuz she’s Canon. If it wasn’t u Positive Friday, Brass Bonanza. They’re um Yeah, they’re good, man. They’re they’re I I really like them. Like indie folk kind of deal, but they’re they’re a good band. John says, “If you’re an adult who never eats chicken tendies, you’re probably joyless.” Yeah. Why rob yourself of that, Declan? Now, what’s your what’s your sauce of choice? So, I am pretty basic. Sweet and sour slash like a plum sauce if you’re at a if you’re at a nice place. Yeah. Like if you’re at a classy establishment like a Boston pizza, I’m getting the plum sauce. You know what I mean? Like we’re paying extra. for the fine dining. We’re going to go big. We’re not just getting sweet and sour. One time we were golfing at the course in Aabaska, finished probably had a few drinks and decided to grab lunch there. So, I went for the order of the chicken tendies and I just said like, “What’s your sauces do you have?” And she listed them off and I said, “Can I get one of each?” And we we did it. It costed me like an extra dollar per sauce. But we demoed them all. You know, ranch is something I love, but not with chicken tennies. Barbecue sauce is always great. Um, sweet honey mustard. The sweet honey mustard is going to be always good. You know, a rare delicacy if you get the McNuggets, which I would always recommend. Try the honey. Yeah. No, my girlfriend likes that. That’s what she does. I think it’s horrible. I hate it. Oh, it’s a lot of people like it that I got kind of a similar story to that one. It’s different. Um, but one time when I was like 18, like one of my first times at a bar, I was I was talking to the bartender and I was like, “What do you have on tap?” Because it was what I thought I was supposed to ask. And he it was she actually makes it all the more embarrassing. She’s goes like, “Okay, we got Canadian, we got Kors, we got Sh list.” I’m like, “Yeah, I’ll get a Canadian.” Yeah. And she was like, “So just the first one I listed like you couldn’t.” And then my friend who was with me was like, “Dude, we’re at Hudson’s.” Like obviously they have Canadian on tab. I was so embarrassed. I still think about that anywhere from 8 to 11 years later. And it was such it was it was one of my worst experiences ever in a bar. Like you can see the taps across, but you still ask I mean we’ve all been there. You ask what’s on tap. The first one they say is the one you want. But you’re not going to interrupt. Dude, it was so bad because I was like I was asking cuz I thought I was like I just thought I was supposed to ask what’s on tap. I didn’t know anything about beer. And she says, “Yeah, we got Canadian. I’m at I’m at Hudson’s.” Like obviously they have Canadian on tap. And I stopped after like three choices and say, “I’ll get that.” And she was like, “Why would you even ask, you idiot kid?” I was so embarrassed, Connor. I can’t put into words how embarrassed I am right now. You know when you go to a a location, an establishment, and they have like 50 beers on No, more than that. Like a hundred. And can I get the logger? That That’s me. I was like, “Oh, one time in Calgary for Labor Day.” Like, “Yeah, could I just get the Coors Light?” And she looked at me like, “Seriously?” Yeah. Like, “You don’t know what I’ve done today, lady? Like, I’ve had a long day of drinking. I just need something I can put down easily, a light beer, and that’s it. No judgment. It should be like I don’t I’m not just going to get a a stout because you have it. I just want to get what I like. Anywh who, I get what you’re saying. I totally get what you’re saying. Uh people people living your definition of fine dining on the text line here right now. Dina truck says honey and barbecue sauce. That’s what’s up for dips. And I can’t disagree. I mean, it’s just it’s classy. It’s a it’s a really good choice. Uh lots going on in the sporting world, not just CFL football tonight, but the NFL preseason rolls on. Lions and Falcons. I don’t know what you’re looking for in that one. Lions did not look in their first preseason game got stomped at the Hall of Fame game in Canton by a team I don’t need to mention 5:00 Panthers and Browns and you also have the Commanders the New England Patriots be an interesting one Patriots does Drake May get some starts as Jaden Daniels we saw Joe Burrow play last night looked absolutely fantastic the Colts well Anthony Richardson’s finger is not supposed to bend that way not a great start for them Daniel Jones went 10 of 21 which not great Eagles Does Mr. Tanner McGee have a future in the NFL? He was fantastic in preseason and the Raiders and Seahawks last night. Uh, fun game. Got a tie in preeason, which of course everyone loves. The one stat that I like to point out is when you looked at uh rookie running back for the Vegas Raiders, Ashton Genty. Three carries minus one yard. Not necessarily ideal. Not a career-defining game being the first game of the preseason, but not great. Omar and Hampton did a little bit better. Imitation Tom says, “I’m a basic bee and I want mayo on everything. Even nuggets, chicken strips, mayo, maybe a spicy mayo I could maybe get behind. But hey, I don’t food shame. Triple C in a truck says, “Yeah, bro. Looking great against the second and third team.” Hey, Triple C and Truck, you got to get that timing. The first, the last few years, the Bengals have been slow to get off the Schneide in the season. This year, I thought they’re going to hit the ground running. Joe Burrow to me, number one quarterback in the league. I think this was a good first step for him. No one’s saying it’s against an all-world defense, but he did what he was supposed to do. He went out there and he looked very efficient as I think most starting quarterbacks in the preseason will do. Again, it is the Jason Greger show here on sports 1440. Eddie Steel, co-host of the Alex Nation podcast as well as former CFL Feller joins us now. Eddie, good afternoon. How are things going? No, everything’s good, Connor. Everything’s good. It’s funny. Declan calls me and very professional. I know you heard him how he called me. He said, “Hello, is Eddie Steel there?” I said, “Deck, man, I see you twice a week running a podcast, brother. It’s me. Talk to me like it’s me, baby.” As soon as you said that, Josh and I looked at each other, then looked at Declan. very professional when he he makes those phone calls and you know that’s that’s what we expect from him at this point because I think he does the same with low tide who he sees five plus days a week. Nothing but the best from Deck. He sets the bar high and that’s what we like about it. So uh well let me ask you your you know we’re almost halfway through the season. How’s it been with Elks Nation so far? Oh it’s been awesome. You know it’s behind the scenes is the a great team that works with Declan and I uh just doing all the heavy lifting. you know, we show up and Declan actually does even more work than me, but I kind of just show up and do my thing. Uh, it’s incredible the amount of effort and work it takes to really produce a quality product and, you know, I’m just happy to be aligned with a good team over at the nation. Absolutely. Go check it out on YouTube, also wherever we get your podcast from. Two a week and honestly, the best breakdown you’re going to get of the green and gold. And they’re in action tonight out in Montreal taking on a banked up Alowettes team. I want to ask you, Eddie, from your playing experience, and I’m I’m going to rely on that a lot for a couple questions here, but when you go into an opposing market and you look at that injury report and see so many key players down, is it tough not to get a little bit excited about the matchup? I mean, how much are you relying on coaching just to kind, hey, guys, stick to the game plan. Don’t worry about who’s out there, worry about what we control. Yeah, in reality, with where the double E are at this season with their record, you can’t be looking at your opponents that way. You got to be so focused on taking care of business. You’re sitting at one and six and you just got to play some desperate football. It doesn’t matter who’s lined up across from you. You need to bring your best, play your best. Now, on the reverse side, I’ve been on some really good teams. Uh I I’ve been on one season I’ve had where it was a real struggle, and that was 2013 with the Eskimos back then. I think we finished the year with five wins. Uh although we did lose five games that year by three points or less. So, we had some tight games, but when you’re on a good team and you see these backups playing, oh, Connor, you’re licking your chomps because you’re thinking, “This is a game where I get to pad my stats.” Now, I want to ask you just going into this game as a former defensive lineman. Like, I remember the groups you were a part of. Well, Odell, Elando, I’m probably missing a few other guys, but you guys were ferocious as a front four. When you look at this group for the Elks, the name value is there, the money is there, but they’ve had a really hard time generating pressure with the front four, you know, leading to more blitzes being dialed up. What can they do to get to the quarterback because we haven’t seen an interception from this secondary? Jake Sesna has got the lone interception for this defense, which is just crazy. You’d think there’d be at least one pizza tossed up there and and you know, someone comes down with it. It just hasn’t worked out. So, how can the front four maybe, you know, add in a linebacker to someone else, but let’s say, how do they start to get constant pressure on opposing quarterbacks and then when they get there, make sure they take them down? Absolutely. Honestly, Connor, what I’ve noticed with this defensive line, sure, sometimes they’ll get some push and you can see they’ll make a quarterback uncomfortable here and there throughout the period of the game, but these guys got to get off blocks. That’s what it comes down to. They got to make a move and they got to get off of their blocks. right now it’s like they’re velcroed onto the O line and they’re not able and we’re seeing it even in the run game. They’re not able to shed these blocks, get off cleanly and make plays and really there’s no rocket science behind it, Connor. You just got to put in the effort to shed the block and it’s a will and it’s a desire to just go out there and make the plays. They’re getting paid big money. They need to now step up and act or I should say play the way they’re getting paid because right now they’re not doing it. Jake Serzna, uh, the heat was on him earlier in the year and he actually responded and had a really nice game. I I forget what game that was, but he had a sack and an interception. These guys, they need to bring it more. I harp on JC Sheret and the coaching staff for uh, you know, all the yards given up, the points given up. But I’ve spoken to some former teammates actually, Elando Sewell. Me and him had a good chat and he reminded me, he said, “You know what, Eddie? No, it’s not JC. It’s not the DB. this D line’s got to get going, you know, just like our our day back in the day. It all starts and ends with the defensive line and the pressure that they’re able to generate. And I mean, we’ve seen it with Nathan Ror a few times in those games. Uh they they get there and they just they can’t finish. You know, they’ll have hands on them and then it’s resulted in big plays going the other way because you’re, you know, you’re just asking your your members of the secondary to cover a little bit longer. When you get close and you don’t bring a quarterback down, like what is that? Is that you know, not tackling enough at practice? Is it a fear of a flag? Like what happens when you have him in the grasp and he just, you know, quarterbacks multiple times this year have been able to escape. Yeah. You know, it’s not a fear of getting him down. I got to be honest, you have to give credit to the quarterbacks, too. I’ve had some sacks in my day or potential sacks where these guys are slippery. Like we watched Nathan Ror last night for the BC Lions against Hamilton. There was about three or four times where he just squirmed out of that pressure in the pocket and was able to climb the pocket and even use his legs to get some first downs. I I remember going back to my day, there was a move when I was playing with the Saskatchewan Rough Riders in 2018. It was actually against Edmonton in Saskatchewan and the game was and I had beat Jacob Ruby so clean. It was probably the best move of my life. I hit him with a nice club rip. Typical move. And I had Michael Riley dead to rights in my sight. And I literally slipped off of him. It It was crazy how it happened, Connor, because these guys, they’re strong and you have to give them credit. Now, you can’t let that happen too often. And this defensive line is letting it happen too often. And part of it is confidence. There’s no denying that your confidence gets shaken when you’re not getting the numbers, the sacks, and producing. And then you start to overthink it. And that was always one of my problems. I was a nose tackle, which you’re not expecting to get a huge number of sacks, but when you have the competitive guys around you like Odell Willis, Alando Seiwell, Willie Jefferson, Marcus Howard. Boy, it’s if you’re not producing, you’re feeling kind of like the weak link and you never want to be a weak link on a Dline. No. What a man, that was such a good group you guys had there. And you could rush for, get there, and then obviously have more players back defending the pass. Man, that was a really fun group to watch. If I if I may, Connor, actually what why we were so successful uh in 2014 and 2015. Yeah, we rushed four, but we in reality we lived in Eagle and that was a threeman front with nine guys dropping. And the fact is we were able to get pressure with three. And that’s why the DBs were able to feast and tackle the way they did in 2015. Our numbers weren’t huge. I think Alando had three, four sacks. I had three. Another DTackle had three. They weren’t huge that year, but we got pressure with three men and that allows the whole defense to eat. Such a luxury. Yeti Steel joining us here from Elks Nation, former CFLer. Man, you guys on the back end there, Aaron Grimes, Dexter McCoy was a bald magnet for you guys, but one of my favorite defense. Pat Walk. Oh, absolutely. Number nine, right outside on the outside there, man. Those were like I would go watch. You liked watching the offense, but watching your guys’ defense back then, uh, you guys just flew to the football was a lot of fun to watch. Now, oh, I just want to ask you going back to your playing days, was there a quarterback, just on that topic that frustrated you the most? And, you know, you think you have him dead to rice and then all of a sudden step up, boom, football’s gone. Yeah, Bo Levi, hands down. He always was protected so well in Calgary. Uh, and he would get the ball out very quickly as well and on time. Dave Dickinson had him running like a welloiled machine during those prime years. So, it was very frustrating because you’re rushing your butt off and then boom, you’re almost there to make the play, make a hit, and he gets the ball out so quickly. So, that drives the defensive line maddening. And anytime you get to chance to smack Bo, that’s always the best feeling because let’s be real, he’s a cocky son of a gun out there, deservedly so. So, whenever you could put his back into the turf, that was the best feeling. Love it. Now, on the other side of the football for the Elks tonight out in Montreal taking on the Owls, that one is going at 5:30. What have you seen from Cody Fardo and what have you seen in this offense that has started to maybe improve things going forward? Uh well, just some simple consistency at the position. Uh he’s not going to do the uh amazing explosive plays like Trey Ford where he’s going to run back and forth sideline to sideline and find an open receiver, but he’s going to do the stable consistent play over and over again. He’s going to hit the receivers that are open. He’s going to read the defense. uh his feet aren’t going to get all happy and in the pocket he’s going to start rushing himself. Uh so it’s those types of things that you need from the quarterback position and I really believe that Cody Fardo brings um some leadership as well that the organization hasn’t seen at the position for quite some time. Uh even the little things like we hear about how he’s uh having extra meetings and getting the guys together to go over schemes and their different systems on offense so everybody can be on the same page. And that’s what you need. You don’t need Cody Pajardo to go out and throw 400 yards. At least you hope you don’t need that. You just need him to march the ball up the field, have some drives, limit the two and outs because when you go two and out, that’s just not good for anybody. you don’t get into a rhythm and the defense just gets more tired and just gain some first downs, put some points up, but we don’t need any flash or anything like that. And that’s what Cody Pardo has done. He has brought some stability and some calmness to the position. And that’s something, you know, no shade at Trey Ford. That’s something that this organization just hasn’t had uh throughout the tenure of the past four or five years. Yeah. And we saw it earlier on, you know, this last month. The Elks just I don’t even know what it was. reluctance to run the football uh last game against Hamilton rank and did get a few more carries. Can you just say from a defensive lineman’s perspective how much that makes life more difficult when you start to establish the run? Oh, way more. Because now you got to worry about these big hogies coming at you straight away instead of dropping back and pass blocking. It’s way easier to pass rush than it is to run block. I’ll tell you what, Connor, because when you run block, especially the interior defensive lineman, you’re eating double teams for the most part. And you got to really put your big boy pads on because the good defensive linemen don’t let those double teams move you. Now, when you only run the ball going back a few weeks, uh, 10 times over a course of two games, you’re letting defensive linemen tee off on your O line and the quarterback. So, when I think of that eight sack game given up against the Riders, no duh, they gave up eight sacks. You ran the ball five times. There’s a correlation there. It’s nice to see them involve ranking and you could tell Jordan Maximic made a conscious effort to really try and pound the rock last game. And it’s with all honesty, Connor, I think that they can make even more of an effort because Rankin is one player when he has that ball in his hands, you can tell he cares. You can tell he is fighting for every yard. And that’s a guy that you can really get behind and follow. Yeah, 100%. And I I think you know when I first saw him play for this team last season I thought man this is a guy who could wear defenses down run between the tackles but seeing the element of a pass catcher we’ve seen the last little while a really good sign for this team. I want to ask you about Kon Julian Grant had the big drop last game and I mean we can say it as much as we want. You know one play doesn’t usually there’s a there’s more to it than just that but it would have been a huge touchdown had he held on to the football. What do you expect from him tonight? A chance to maybe get a bit of a bounceback performance also playing his former team. Yeah, he I hope it’s not something that lingers and is in his head because sure, he had the one drop last week, but then he had a huge drop against Saskatchewan as well. So, in reality, he’s had two big drops the past couple of weeks. I hope that’s not something that carries over because this team needs him. Uh, and I know from my experience when you that’d be like me missing that sack I just talked about with Michael Riley. You lose sleep over that, man. You’re sick to your stomach and then you have to watch it in film all week. Hopefully, he’s able to flush it. That’s what the true pros do. They can flush it and it’s a next play mentality onto the next and it’s over with. It’ll be really interesting to see how he responds. And if Cody Pardo, don’t be surprised if he tries to feed him because that is the type of leader Cody is. He’s not going to leave his guys out to dry, out to hang. And I definitely would be expecting Cody to try and feed him early to get him in the game and get his rhythm going. Now, before we let you go, what was the best part about playing in Montreal? Oh, I can’t say it on the radio. Hey, put it this way, Connor. Uh, there’s a reason during my career, usually you play the game and you stay overnight and then you fly out the next morning. There is a reason most teams I played on started flying out directly after the game. Good night life, right? Good poutine. Good night life. Too much poutine. That’s what I’m going to go with on this one. Eddie, thanks for doing this today. Really appreciate it. And we’ll look forward to you and recap on El Nation. Awesome. Keep doing great work, Connor. There you go. That is Eddie Steel, longtime CFL Gay Cup champion. You play on both sides of the ball and a co-host with Declan Krueger on Elks Nation. Two podcasts a week you watch on YouTube or wherever you get your podcast from. Uh Declan, what did you think about Eddie there talking about the defensive line there? Um I he makes up some really good points because you can’t just underestimate the quarterbacks on the opposing sideline like Bo Levi slippery, Nathan Mor slippery. I think it was Collaros who got away from them once as well that led to a touchdown. But I mean it’s a trend and that’s the part that concerns me personally. Yeah, I thought you were going to ask about the night life in Montreal. Can’t speak to that. But no, 100%. And MBT is such a like he’s so flatfooted. He does not move well. like this is the quarterback you look to saying if we get hands on this guy we bring him down. Obviously he can speak to the position a million times better than I can. But I I could not agree more. And it just like your defense play. It’s such a weight off of the other position groups, the linebackers and the DB’s shoulders when the defensive line can get there and make plays, hurry him, bring him to the ground, things like that. It’s demoralizing too like when you have them and like he said, like you lose sleep over those types of plays. As a football player, as an athlete, you have a chance to, you know, make a gamechanging play and you don’t. It’s crushing and when it starts to become a trend, that’s when it’s really going to hurt. So, we’ll see. I think with the injuries, a winnable game, but the Owlets are going to have confidence knowing that the Als are just a one- win team. Should be a lot of fun tonight. Kickoff 5:30. I’m doing very good, thanks. Now, you you’ve had a couple weeks off here. Did you get a chance to do any vacationing? We did. We did. Uh, we went away. We We were going to go up to Cold Lake, but the fires were a little too thick. So, a friend offered us his cabin. So, we took up that offer. We took out the sub boards, hit a couple clean lakes uh west of Pigeon Lake, which was really amazing. And then did a ton of mountain biking and cycling, the usual, right? So, it was good to get away. It was good break. And it was just nice to do a reset because if you if you don’t do the reset, well, mother nature resets it for you. and we’ll usually add that to the plan and it’s usually not at the bestest time. So, if you take a little bit of downtime, work it in, it it will always come out in your favor no matter what you’re doing. I I want to talk to you today about, you know, your career and the success that you had, you know, going to the Olympics, eventually becoming a champion. But just on the topic of that reset for athletes, how important do you think it is for at some point, I mean it’s going to be different depending on the athletes schedule, but just taking that time off, not thinking about it, maybe giving yourself a little bit of a break from the grind that it is to be a professional athlete. Absolutely. It is probably the scariest thing that you do as an athlete because we have the mentality it’s more and more because then you can see what the progress is. you can see the progression or you can see where you need to improve. And it’s really hard when you go, uh, I’m supposed to take a break. Are are you serious? Are you kidding? And it’s like, well, then what am I going to do? And I find that a lot of athletes, me included, I was lost. What What do you do? And I wasn’t truly totally lost because I was also working full-time, but the season would typically end the end of September. And then what you would do is you would take three weeks off. I learned this one the hard way because I took four weeks off or five weeks off. That was way too much. Two weeks wasn’t enough. So, you’re always trying to find that sweet spot. And then the season would start training back again in November. World Cups would be uh February, March, April, World Championships in May, and then a big summer event whether you know post World Championships, it was Panama Games, it was Commonwealth Games, Olympic Games, one every year. So, there’s a beautiful progression. Um, if you don’t take the time off, you’re going to think you’re doing really great. You’re coming out blazing right at the start, but then holding it for the long term, Connor, is is virtually impossible because you do need to have, you know, slow days, lower training times, maybe some endurance versus, you know, the anorobic sprinting, all depending on what you’re doing. But a break is absolutely necessary. And even one day a week I believe is is necessary if not two. You you got to be really good at you know scheduling. We call it periodization is just you got to make sure you get the recipe right. And I I mean I said professional athletes there but I mean I would assume similar to the parents listening with young athletes that are you know whatever they might be involved in resting is huge. Oh absolutely. And the other thing especially for the the younger athletes is go play all of the sports. Don’t just play one because you don’t realize until way later just how impactful, you know, uh, playing street hockey, tennis, badminton, tag, just hacking around, playing in the schoolyard, it really gives you a number of skills that you don’t even think about because you’re playing, right? But if you’re only a specialist when you’re 10 or 11 or 12 years old, oh my goodness, you’re you’re shortch changing the young athlete because it’s like, well, there’s going to be more or they’re not going to have those skills in other areas that they can really excel at. Laurian Munzer joining us here on the Jason Greger show. Connor Hally sitting in and we wanted to talk about your career a little bit. Obviously, we know, you know, where you got to eventually winning an Olympic gold medalist in cycling at Athens. I mean, probably couldn’t be a cooler spot to win that gold. Maybe maybe in Canada would have been pretty cool too. But the journey to get there like at what point did you say this is what I want to do? I want to become a professional cyclist and the I mean at that point everyone’s goal at the end is to win the Olympic gold medal. You know what you would think everybody’s goal is to win an Olympic gold medal. It’s not necessarily true. It could be just to get to the Olympics. I I I want to get to that level. Um mine was a culmination of a couple of things. injury, a really crap season where I went the slowest I had ever got in my entire life. And then it was me making the decision, not somebody else saying, “Well, you should shoot for the World Cups or you should shoot for the Commonwealth Games.” It was me that like put my foot down and decided, “This is what I want to do and I’m going to figure it out.” Because I honest to goodness, Connor, I had no idea of how I was going to do it other than I wanted to do it and I had less than 365 days to put it together. Yeah. I mean, and your story is crazy. Obviously, I I don’t Let’s just say this. What is the average age would you say for a cyclist at the Olympics? In cycling, it’ll probably be anywhere between 21 to 29. That sort of thing. And how old were you? Uh well, I was 38 when I won. Uh I was also working full-time, so I was not a full-time athlete. In my mind, I was, but technically I really wasn’t. Uh I didn’t get into track until I was 28. And that was by a good accident where I met the national track coach, Dez Dicki, and he said, “Hey, I could help you get to the Olympics. You’ve got some great power sprinting. Now we can convert it onto a 42°ree banked surface and you always turn left. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. All I heard was I could get you to the Olympics. So I was all in and it it would take me another 10 years to do it. Couple different coaches, different locations, cities. Uh I was in Toronto, moved to Montreal, back to Toronto, and then I came out to Edmonton because I was very much on a mission. I needed a coach, but I needed a bell drum to train because you can’t train on a straight flat road. You You can’t Well, you can, but it’s just not really conducive for training because you do need a facility. Coming off of a 42°ree banking, there’s a little different approach to that. You know, first thing you’re up probably about 20 feet in the air or up on, you know, the sidelines. But the technical aspect you can’t replicate on a flat road. Olympic gold medalist Laurian Munzer joining us here on the Greor Show. Connor Hi sitting in for Jason. So before you get into that then what were you doing in your early 20s? I was working working eating Doritos and Diet Coke. Um I just I I gained a lot of weight. I was 180 pounds. I’m 5 foot 10 and I felt like crap and I wasn’t happy and I was just working. So, I decided to give myself uh a start and a challenge. And it was to ride my mountain bike three days a week from 5 until 7, out of the house by 8, and at my desk by 9:00. And and I was loving it so much so that opened the yellow pages and I joined a club and I was the only gal with 10 guys and and they were pretty patient. They were they were really good. They taught me a lot. They would also put the hand in the back and give me a good push up the hill. And uh it it was so much fun because it was just could I actually do this? I had no idea there was another discipline of track cycling. I only thought there was road like what you see on TV, you know, the tour to France, pointto-point races, flat races. I had no idea that track really existed. So, was there someone who told you like Laurianne, you’ve got something here, or was that all internal? I knew that there was something there explosive. You know, I love to try and see if I could beat and chase the bus, uh, you know, from one end of the line to the other when I was living in Toronto. But it was Clary Hughes that said something to Dez Dicki, who was a national track coach. Um, I I still don’t know to this day what she said, but it got Dez fired up, and that’s when he wanted to talk to me. He asked me what I my goals were, and he said, “Yeah, I could help you get to the Olympics.” And I literally met him on a Sunday and Tuesday morning I started training to make the national team. And it would take me about a good six, eight months more before I actually did. Couple injuries, got hurt, quit, ran into debt, all kinds of crazy stories. Um, and then five years later, I came to Edmonton and uh met my coach here. They had a drrome and well, the rest they say is history. Well, Laurian, we’re going to be talking about that a little bit more because I get a host for Gregor a few more times in the summer, but uh well, today I just want to maybe take a look at the new Beladrome opening up in Edmonton. Looks like it’s a really nice facility by my old high school, Ross Shepard. Absolutely. I got a tour of it uh last week with Dave Amber who’s been like an instrumental force here in the cycling community, but also with the Velrome. He started this project, believe it or not, 2005, 20 years ago. It started out as an idea and walking into it on Wednesday, I was just I I was blown away just the emotions. I haven’t seen a track or been inside a track facility for 20 years and I’m thinking I might have to call Canada Sports Hall of Fame and and ask if I could borrow my bicycle back because I I want to go ride it. It’s just it’s crazy. I think the banking is about 46 degrees. So, a lot steeper than um Athens, Greece was where the Olympics were my last race. And uh yeah, it’s just going to be like incredible facility. Everything you need is right there. There’s like seats and stands for spectators. Um there’s going to be programs, learn to ride of course, and it will be at the level two where uh international races are going to be able to be held. Like that’s awesome because I’ve been going to shop. You drive past and I’ve always wondered what are they building here now to to hear that’s what it is. It looks it’s going to be awesome. Do you think a casual biker would be allowed to get out there and just experience that 46° angle? Cuz like I you sent me a picture. The angle to me is intimidating. I’m a casual bike rider. I like to go out and listen to podcasts while I ride. But do you think there’ll ever be a chance for people like me to go give it a go? Absolutely. Actually, I’ll go with you and uh you know, I’ll walk beside you before we get you up at the top. Part of this is you don’t just get on the track and you start riding because the bicycle is different. It’s one gear, no brakes. So, you don’t have 10 speeds. You don’t have the brakes on your handlebars. We start off with learning to ride the Belladrome because you have to understand the bike, the machine that is going to allow you to travel around. And definitely um you know your heart’s going to be racing probably about 180 190 beats a minute. You start off at the bottom and then you slowly work your way up. And that’s the beautiful part of it is you just go wow I’m actually doing this. I’m riding this crazy 40 46 47 degree angle track inside and everybody goes don’t you get dizzy? You don’t because the the feeling that you have is like riding a straight line. It’s not like I’m turning left and turning left all the time. So, it’s a lot of fun. I I feel like getting off of it would be the part that is intimidating for me as well. The whole thing. I mean, the angle is just ridiculous, but it looks like it’d be such a fun time to give it a go. I’d probably just, you know, bubble wrap myself just in case. But yeah, it looks awesome. And the rule goes, if you win, you got to throw a party. Greger tells you all the time. I’m going to tell you as well. I’m curious, Declan. If you were to throw a party, you won $55 million. What is the biggest waste of money your party would include? You know, I’ve thought about this a lot. If I ever, you know, was to win the lottery, I’m I’m going to like donate all of it. Honestly, I’m going to give a little to my parents, little my sister, a little my brother, little for an engagement ring, little for a wedding honeymoon. The rest of it’s getting donated. No one needs that much money. But to answer your question, the biggest way you save a little for your child potentially. No. Declan Jr., he’s got to make it on his own. He can get it from his grandparents. They’re going to have some. Okay. Um, but to answer your question, in this hypothetical, ice sculptures of each guest at the party. Classy. Yeah. Water fountain as well. Like a Would you say like there’s going to be an artist with a chainsaw doing these sculptures or they’ll be there as you walk in? They’ll be there as you walk in and you get to take it home, but I can’t account for the melting possibilities. You got to figure that out on your own. That’s a good one. I think I would have a, you know, like those indoor kind of skydiving things like the big fan. Oh, yeah. I like those. You got to throw on a suit and you just got to go float around. Oh, yeah. Actually, I think I do that. I got a better answer. Basketball court. We’re all just hooping. That’d be Come check out the basketball court in my home. Let’s play oneonone. Just like a game at the Y pickup game. Yeah, that’d be cool, too. You can’t leave the house until you win. That’s fair. Yeah, it’s like the opposite of that old uh soccer commercial with the soccer uh for whatever on the boat. Losers go home. Was it Adidas? Losers stay. Winners go home to leave Duckan’s party. Yeah, that’s exactly what it would be. And that’s a hilarious commercial. Great commercial. Little less conversation. Elvis and JXL or something. W says, “I would work for Oilers Nation for free. Just creating content for free.” What if What if they What if they’re like, “No, we’re good. We’re good.” Well, that would be a slap in the face. Um, never. my question because today in Major League Baseball, for those of you who don’t know, Jays and Dodgers, two really good teams, and they’re both going to put out two future Hall of Famers on the mound. Max Sherzer and Clayton Kershaw SH this year 2 and one to the 439 erra. Clayton Kershaw 5-2 329 erra Dodgers slight favorites. If you’re looking to make a bet over at playa.ca, TA, if you could do your dream baseball matchup, any two pitchers in history, who would you like to see go headtohead? Because there’s a lot of guys I missed. Like when I first said that, I was like, “Okay, give me Rocket Roger Clemens and Randy Johnson. Those are the guys for me.” But then I’m thinking about it like maybe you want to go Greg Maddox. Maybe you’re really old and Sai Young is your pick. Nolan Ryan could be a good one. Maybe Roy Holidayiday personal favorite. Maybe you like Pedro. There’s so many ones you could go with. So I want to ask you who text in 1833 411440. You could have any two pitchers in history go head-to-head on the mound. Who would it be? Maybe you want bloody sock Kurt Schilling out there. Verander pretty good for a modern guy. Declan, you got an answer for that one if you had to pick. I was thinking either it I have three guys in mind. I don’t know how I want to pair them up, but Oral Hersheiser, Nolan Ryan, and Randy Johnson. My first inclination was Randy Johnson verse Nolan Ryan, but I I would like Oral Hersheiser as well to be in there in some capacity. The first ever three-way baseball game. Couple guys just throwing heat. Yeah. Ryan says Nolan Ryan and Doc. Yeah. Roy Holidayiday, man. When he his stuff was sick, you know, honestly, with what he’s doing, I might want to see like Paul Skins vers Nolan Ryan really on any other team but the Pirates. Yeah. Not with the Pirates. Not the Pirates. Yeah. If he did like the last 20 years of like Sk. What about Show versus Babe? That’d be fun. Be a cool one. And they both have to play both sides. Yeah, they’re also swinging. That would really put an end to the old era verse era competition when Babe Ruth is spinning around like the Tasmanian devil off of one pitch making cartoon sounds. But yeah, it’s cool. It’s cool. It’s cool. It’s a cool idea. But then after the game, they got to sit down and drink beer and eat hot dogs and then see who does better that. That’s where we find out who the real winner is. Or they do that the night before and then play. I think Bab got to give it to Babe. Let’s be honest. Yeah. probably played through a a few hangovers in his time, whereas I don’t think that’s quite as common in 2025. Bruce batted 314 for his career. It’s a beast, man. 342 for his career. That’s insane. He had how many se That’s insane. They say he was good. You know, the babe, maybe a forgotten name by some the younger people out there, but uh obviously a legend from the Sandlot movies. That’s where I was first introduced into. But let us know 1833411440. Maybe get your thoughts on who you think if you could do any dream pitcher matchup. Who’ you have going head-to-head? There’s some really good ones. Ferguson Jenkins. Then there’s guys I have no idea who they are, but obviously legends. Pud, Pud, Galvin, real name James, Christy Mat, Grover, Cleveland, Alexander, Walter Johnson. These are the all times wins leaders. If you look at the all-time wins leaders 1 through 25, all Hall of Famers except Roger Clemens steroid era not looked too fondly upon the Hall of Famers. Tommy John is in there. Bobby Matthews. Tommy John’s actually not a Hall of Famer. BG does say Babe Ruth vers Otani. Braden got Randy Johnson vers Clemens or Maddox vers Pettit, Braves vers Yankees. Classic Kurt goes Nolan Ryan versus Goose. Yeah, Goose doesn’t like the young guys, does he? Isn’t he a kind of old man yelling at clouds these days? Cat dad Satchel Paige versus Greg Maddox. Rdy Rodies is my two favorite all time. Maddox vers Ryan. Finesse verse power. Maddox was something. Just pick you apart. Laidback Lenny says Greg Maddox, Jim Palmer. Maddox was sick. Got a lot. We used to have TBS and they show all the Braves games. So, we got a chance to watch a lot of Braves games. I don’t know if I overhyped Chipper Jones, but the broadcast sure did. So, I always was a big fan of him. And then the one guy who would run out of the bullpen full speed. Might have been a little homophobic. I don’t know if you guys remember him. John Rocker. Yeah. Guy was a little he was out there. Had a had a stretch where he was dealing though. Guy would just beline it from the outfield in. If he had an intro the way some of the guys have them today, it would be 7 seconds. He was flying. Yeah. Ranger Nick. John Rocker. Polarizing figure in the baseball world. Massive racist from Slurvan. Yeah. There he some things came out about him later on, but as a pitcher, well, as an entrance, that’s what I remember. Just a straight beline to the mound. Goose Gosage versus the Unit. Randy Johnson. Do you remember when Randy Johnson hit the bird, Ducklin? Oh, yeah. One of the one of the sports highlights that’s kind of implemented into my brain, more or less. How like it’s something you would just never think to happen. It’s never happened again. One in a million for sure. Probably never will. How does a bird get that low and then I’ll just Did anyone see the bird after? Like I wonder what it looked like. Not great. It had to had to just like you would think it would explode. Did you see the picture of Aussie Osborne and Randy Johnson standing together and then someone quote tweeting it saying, “I would hate to be a winged creature flying into that room.” I did see that one. Yes. Good. Good memeing. Did Did Aussie actually bite the head off a bat or a real thing, man? That’s something. Randy an accident. He’s actually a really good photographer now, too. Did you see Marshon Lynch last night on the sideline? Seahawks Raiders. No. After the Seahawks running back scored a touchdown, he kind of like went out of bounds and bumped into Marshon. Marshon hit him with a forearm shiver. Like, get away from me, kid. Yeah. He’s still got the instincts there. I feel like Marshon could still play. You think so? How old is he? Oh, he’s got to be 38, 39 at this point. Yeah, I was thinking he is 39. Has not played football since. 2019 where he had 12 attempts for 34 yards. Pretty bad. He could get I’m I’m really starting to walk this one back. He could get 200 yards in a season today. Yeah. It’s like Adrien Peterson towards the end. He’s just like a better Eddie Lacy. Yeah. Wait. Well, I mean, he’s a Hall of Famer right now. No, I’m talking about this right this second. Okay. He’s a better Eddie Lacy when Eddie Lacy was in his prime of primes, which wasn’t really ever a thing even. But Marawn does have to be a Hall of Famer, right? Yeah. 6,000 yard seasons, uh, four straight double digit touchdown seasons. 10,000 yards all time, Super Bowl champion. Yeah. I mean, then you look at some of the individual accolades like first team allpro, second team allpro, fivetime pro bowler, made the all decade team. I I think he’s a Hall of Famer. Twice led the league in rushing touchdowns. Beast mode. What a run. Lance said, “I was so excited when he became a Raider. Turns out awful season.” Yeah. Why isn’t Clemens in the Hall of Fame from Rod? Steroids. That’s all I got. I think that has to be it. Other players have gotten in. Clemens was pretty staunch that he didn’t do it. Like I pretty, you know, had he owned it, maybe he would have just gotten in, but that didn’t help him. Big Bobby Clawber says Mark the Bird Faceman Bill Lee. Jack Morris vers Todd Stodder. BJ Blue Fernando Venezuela. I don’t I don’t know these guys for sure. You could probably text in and give me two random names and my knowledge of the history of baseball might not be there. I might not remember some of these guys, but uh hey, I’m on board for it. Some of these some of these players would be outstanding. And then you also get into that matchup of Declan, if you could watch one batter versus one pitcher in history, what would be like the most epic showdown? We Go ahead. Barry Bonds verse Nolan Ryan. Like that’d be fun. That’d be a fun match. Barry Bonds versus Sai Young. Oh, come on. He’s going yard with Sai. That that be going 700 feet, bro. When we saw Showi verse Trout for their countries, like kind of a goosebumps moment there. Yeah. It’s called It’s not There’s not a fun joke to make. Like when the US beats England, it’s called soccer now. Yeah. Can’t really make that joke, but there there’s something in there for It’s not called baseball anymore. It’s not called baseball anymore. It’s called It’s called Show Ball. Whatever he wants to call it, it’s his. Kai is a absolute beast on the diamond. And you’re going to see Jays and Dodgers tonight. Should be a fun one later start in this one. As we had mentioned, of course, it works out pretty nicely because you got the Aan Elks in action at 5:30 in Montreal. Close to when that one wraps up. Dodgers and Blue Jays meeting in Los Angeles. Sherzer and Kershaw. As we mentioned right now, Dodgers slight favorites, but uh if these two teams go down their current trajectory, maybe a World Series preview. It could happen. Crazier things have happened and uh that would be something. Historic Dodgers, Canada’s team, I’d be here for it. I’m kind of a pessimist though, so I still still have been like that thought that man, maybe the Jays lose a couple series and fall out of the first spot and you know, we start questioning them again. But hey, hoping for the best as per usual. Let’s take a break here. Lots to get to still on the Jason Greger show. Connor Hally, Den Cougar and Josh Fenwick with you when we come back. How you doing, gentlemen? I’m flying high. I just had my first Chick-fil-A. Yeah, unbelievable. Pretty good. Very like visually I was like, “What? This is it?” Yeah. This is what people lined up like Metallica tickets to buy, but then I ate it and I was like, “Oh, this is pretty good.” And how nice is the staff there? They were very nice. So nice. They were very nice. They’re always in a good mood. Really? Is that because of all the chicken? I It has to be fueled by chicken. I was impressed. Yeah. And you got a couple new hats. I got new hats. I went to the hat store and got fake fan hats for baseball. Yeah. B. Ask me to name one B. Active. Name one active Boston Red. Could not. Manny Ramirez. Man Ram. That’s it. Good times. Good times in the baseball world. And then I got a San Francisco Giants hat. Barry Bonds. We’re just talking about, you know, elite matchups. You got Sherzer tonight taking on Clayton Kershaw. Wasn’t like a rematch of one time they were subbing in for good pitchers and they were up and coming legends. Did you read that? Probably. Probably. Yeah. Now they are legends for future Hall of Famers. Now they are. Wow. It’s great. Uh talking about young legends here. How about we talk a little tennis here with John Horn from around the Horn Media as we’re going to talk well historic performance the last few days here with Victoria Moko out in Montreal capturing the National Bank Open title. Uh John, thanks so much for doing this today. How are things going? What’s going on guys? Thanks for having me. just uh I heard you talking about Chick-fil-A there. Funny Chick-fil-A story. Um so, you know, the Georgia Dome, which I think it’s is it still the Mercedes Maybe it’s the Mercedes-Benz Arena now in Atlanta. Um so they have a Chick-fil-A in the Georgia Dome, but the funny part about that is is I don’t know if you know this or not, but Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays because the owners of Chick-fil-A have uh are religious and they don’t believe in opening the business on Sundays. So, it’s a little odd considering it’s in a football stadium. And of course, we know most football games are played on Sunday. So, I just throw that in there. It’s there, but it’s always closed. It’s only open on Thursdays, Saturdays, Mondays, any other day other than Sunday, but it’s just funny that it’s in a football stadium. I believe the guy who owns it is from Georgia. I think that’s the connection. I can’t remember exactly, but something like that. I thought you find that find that amusing. That is funny. And I mean the fans for Thursday night and Monday Night Football probably get fired up like all right game and get it. Let’s Victoria Mabokco, John. And it was just such a story. I mean it kind of captivated the sporting world I’d say in Canada because everyone is tuning in like okay we have to watch that game. It was four o’clock mountain time. We’re throwing on the tennis which I can tell you we don’t do every day out here. So at what point in this event did you think like hey like she’s playing really good. Like she could do this. she could go on a run and take down some of these top players. Yeah, I mean uh I guess when she got the win over Koko Goff, the number two player in the world defending French Open champion and got that done uh in straight sets and played really well in that match and I think that’s when people started thinking, you know, you never know. I mean, still tough road ahead, but uh you you just never know. Sometimes things are just storybook in tennis. It just happens. You know, we saw Bianca winning the US Open in 2019. it just everything sort of fell into place. And Emma Raticanu, same thing when she won uh in 2021. She got through qualifying and then just kept winning matches and another match and another match in straight sets and then seeds started falling on her side and then that sort of got her deeper in and then eventually she ends up uh winning the winning the whole thing as a as a qualifier. So I mean I guess the Cocoa Golf match was sort of the turning point so to speak and um yeah I mean it was quite the run. I mean, to be 18 years old and to be able to to go through your home tournament, not just any tournament, but your home tournament in a 1,000 level event where, you know, most of the top players were there. Uh, you know, the fact that she beat a lot of seated players, a lot of top 50 players, the defending French Open champion, uh, a former Wimbledon Grand Slam winner, uh, four Grand Slam winners in all, um, and to be a wild card to do it. I mean, really impressive stuff. And uh you know it’s it’s it’s good when tennis gets the spotlight sometimes because as we know you just mentioned that you know it doesn’t get a lot of attention in your neck of the woods but you know when the summer it’s a little quieter with all due respect to CFL and baseball it’s a little quieter some heads start looking at tennis a little bit and golf season’s kind of winding down too. So uh this is kind of the the the Montreal Toronto Cincinnati which is now just started and the US Open swing. It’s kind of like the premier time for sports fans who are casual sports fans if they’re turning the TV on and they’re not baseball fans that oh let’s check out and see what’s going on with the tennis and now there’s good reason to watch because Victoria Boo uh is really making a name for herself quite quickly. Yeah. And we saw in a few matches fall early on like losing the first set and I know a lot of people say you know we hear it in other sports like they’re too maybe young and dumb to realize where they are and what’s going on but like she I don’t want to say that maybe she just has that spirit where if I just continue doing what I’m doing I can grind my way back into this one and she overcame injuries. Like I was so impressed by her I guess will to not give in never quit even though she’s going up against some of the top players in the world. Yeah. I mean, I think that when you know when you’re surprising like that, um, as you’re getting through each match, of course, you want to win each match and you want to win the title, but basically after the Koko Golf match, she was playing with house money at that point. It was, you know, I I don’t know how many people thought she’d beat golf. I personally thought she had a good chance because she already played golf earlier this year, uh, and went three sets with her. And there’s always something about playing a player second time around. You actually get to get a better feel for their style of game. you know, you watch tape, you’ve she’s obviously watched Koko Goff in the past, knows what her weapons are. Goff wasn’t playing particularly well. Um, you know, even after winning the French, she she lost early at Wimbledon and she hasn’t been playing very good tennis anyway. A lot of double faults. So, you know, that that kind of was a, you know, was a springboard for her. And then after that, it was kind of, well, let’s just see what happens in the next match. And, and she plays a player who’s, you know, top 100 player, but, you know, top I think she’s 51 in the world and but not a huge hardcore player. And then let’s play Rebecca again, who she played in Washington 10 days ago and lost in that match. So she gets a revenge match against Rebecca and and uh and she played Rebecca well even though Rebecca didn’t play great either. So, um, you know, every match was kind of like a bonus moving forward. And I think even if she lost in the semis or even if she lost in the final, I mean, I think we’d all be applauding her efforts and it just, you know, she just took it to the next level in the final and didn’t play a great opening set in the semi or the final. And uh, and then her opponent got rattled both times and I think the crowd played a big part. The Montreal crowd was outstanding and uh, you know, I think that sort of willed her to victory and then she just came up with the the shots at the right time. her opponent made a few mistakes and um and that was it. So, kudos to her and uh I mean to to do it at 18 years old uh and to do it on home soil only the second Canadian person to to win in the open air on home soil that that’s pretty cool. We’re talking a little tennis here with John Horn from around the Hornet media on the Jason Greger show. Connor Hi, w Gretz sitting in and I want to ask you in tennis when you know she’s just 18 years old so maybe there wasn’t a great scouting report on her. maybe some of these players a little bit surprised by young Victoria Embokco going forward here. Is do you think this is something that she’s going to be able to build off of and kind of continue this run, have success, or on the flip side, is it like, okay, you’re not a surprise to us anymore? Maybe now these top talent players, the higher ranked players around the world know how to approach her? Well, that’s always it. I mean, is like any sport when you when you get to the top and now it’s everyone’s trying to knock you down. And when you get to the top of, you know, I I used this example on another interview earlier today. When say Scotty Sheffler wins a a major, then he’s got to win the next one, right? He’s got to win the next one. When the Florida Panthers win the cup, they win it once, they win it twice, now they got to win it three times. So, it’s it’s always chasing, you know, chasing the players as they get to the top. And is can you maintain that level at the top? And, you know, she’s still got lots of room for improvement in her game. Um, you know, she’s got a really big serve. um had a lot of aces in the tournament early on especially, but a lot of double faults yesterday. Uh didn’t serve great. Um you know, moving forward, I think, you know, especially with US Open coming up, she’s got this wrist injury where she got injured uh in the semi-final, she fell on her wrist and actually hurt her wrist and uh the next day uh actually before the match yesterday, we weren’t even sure if she was going to be able to play because her wrist was bothering her. She said she woke up and it was swollen. So, they went and got an MRI just to go check it out. And I don’t know if you noticed in the match and afterwards it was heavily bandaged. So, um you know she’s taking Cincinnati off uh this coming which is the tournament’s already started but it’s another 1000 event. So I don’t think she ever would have thought that she would have skipped the one 1000 event a couple weeks ago. But she’s going to rest up for the US Open. She’ll be a seated player there. And then really it’s just going to depend on a how the wrist is. Um b what’s her draw like? I mean, she she’s going to be seated, but that doesn’t mean that she’s not going to get, you know, some tough opponents in the early rounds. She could easily get a top 40, top 50 player who isn’t seated. So, um, we’ll see how that goes. And even though she’ll be seated in the 20s, you know, once you get to the third and fourth round, you still often end up playing seated players. So, we’ll see how that goes. And I mean, we know that she can handle the pressure. She’s very, very uh stoic out there and seems to be enjoying herself and seems to handle the pressure. I mean, look, if you’re playing on your home in your home tournaments with that crowd going, uh, the pressure that’s on you, that’s probably almost harder than playing in a grand slam. So, um, I think that she can handle the pressure for sure. Um, but we’ve seen it go the other way. We’ve seen what happened to Jeannie Bashard after she had the run in 2014 and she kind of tailed off after that and after Bianca Andrescu won the US Open in 2019, she kind of tailed off too. So, uh, both play both of those players though have had a lot of injuries. So, she could stay healthy and she can, you know, improve on little parts of little parts of her game um and get a favorable draw at the US Open. I mean, could she go deep? Of course. I mean, she’s riding a high right now. It’s But tennis is a funny sport. You can be We saw I was mentioned what happened to Coco Golf. You can win the French Open, you can defeat the number one player in the world one week and then two weeks later you’re playing at Wimbledon, you lose in the first round. So, um it’s the highs and lows of tennis are there. So, we’ll just have to see how she handles it. Now, John, obviously you know way more about tennis than I do. I can’t act like I know the pipeline and you know who’s going to be the next big team, but were there expectations for Victoria like one day she could elevate her game to this level and you know maybe even do any better with some of the major events coming up? Yeah, I mean she’s she’s been in the tennis circle. She’s been on people’s radar for a couple of years now that she could be a really good player. uh she’s gone through the Tennis Canada system and uh she was training in Belgium last year, but she’s she’s she’s definitely, you know, people have noticed that she’s had, you know, had some had some moments. She’s played in juniors and slams and people have seen that she’s got a big big ground strokes and big serve and, you know, again, poised out there. Comes from a good family, pretty grounded family who immigrated. They immigrated and came to Canada and um so there’s a good story there. Uh I I mean I think I think she’s got all the tools where she could she can play really well um and play at even a higher level. Um you know she’s she she started the year playing on the ITF circuit. So if you’re not familiar with the ITF circuit it’s a sort of a step down be like playing almost uh you know in hockey. It’ be like playing playing in the AHL for example. It’s a step below the NHL but there’s still some pretty good talent there. And uh she went 22 and0 to start the year and won four titles. that that’s how she started this year. So, um that sort of people were like, “Oh, who’s this?” You know, Victoria Boo even if you were in tennis or like if you’re not sure now, let’s keep an eye on that. Then she’s uh represented by IMG and IMG has a big part in the Miami Open. So, she got her first chance to get into a 1000 event there. Um so, her first 1000 event and she won her first match and then she played Paula Badoz in the second round and lost a really tight match there. um played a couple matches for Canada at Billy Jeene King Cup won and won both of them. Uh went to the French Open, got through French Open qualifying, got to the third round of the French Open, so she won a couple matches there, played at Wimbledon this year, won a match there. So, you know, throughout the year, she’s kind of steadily sort of done more and more along the lines and caught more and more people’s attention. And as it goes, then, you know, people, you know, start paying attention to her a little bit more. tennis channels had her on and BBC in the state or in uh in England has had had a look at her and spoken to her and had a feature on her. So there’s there’s certainly different uh you know when a player comes along it doesn’t take long for people to start taking notice but I know you know some people who are deep into the tennis circles have have kept an eye on her for the last two three years and they knew that she was going to come along and be a good player. I don’t know if they thought it was going to happen this fast but certainly they knew that uh that she was there was something special there. Yeah, you got her, Bianca, Leila, Fernandez, 25 and under. So hopefully between them, uh, they keep Canadian tennis on the map. John, thanks so much for doing this today. Really do appreciate it. And, uh, hey, we’ll never know we’ll be talking to you again because it seems like every once in a while we get these really good runs from Canadian tennis players. Yeah, and you know what, lastly, is that uh, the crazy part about all this is that Victoria Boo started the year ranked 333 in the world. She’s now number 24 and that’s higher than any Canadian man or woman in the world rankings. That’s higher than Felix. That’s higher than Chappelle. That’s higher than Ila. That’s higher than Bianca. That’s higher than any Canadian player. So, uh it’s been a quick run and uh and a fun run. And let’s uh see if she can parlay that at the US Open and continue the run. And a just under $1.2 million payday as well. Nice. Nice as well for the fountain. John, thanks for doing this today. You got it, guys. Thanks for having me. There you go. That is John Horn from around the horn of media talking a little tennis and yeah if you didn’t see it Victoria Mvoko one hell of a run jumping up in the standings huge payday and like you said you know Jay’s were off yesterday we had a CFL game but you know people want to watch some sports and she certainly put on a show out in Montreal. We’ll see what’s next. Oh I guess she’s taking Cincinnati off, taking some time off, get that injury ready and rehab and she’ll be back good to go soon. Uh we’ll take a break here. When we come back, we’re going to talk to John Morris, curling legend, twotime Olympic gold medalist about an event that is coming to the Edmonton area. It’s the Jason Greger show. A twotime Olympic gold medalist, three-time Olympian, one time world champion, and a threetime brier champ. Going to be in the Edmonton area for a very awesome event coming to Bulmont in October. John, thanks so much for doing this today. How are things going? They’re going just great. I’m uh just driving home and looking forward to the Jay’s Dodgers game tonight. Yeah, pretty uh pretty wild matchup tonight on the mound. Hey, two future first ballot Hall of Famers, I would think, in Sherzer and uh oh, Kershaw. Kershaw. Who Who do you think has the advantage here on the mound? Well, they both are gamers, so it’s just going to be I’m an old school ball fan. So, I’m just uh My dad’s a big Dodger fan. I’m a big Jay’s fan. I’m pouring myself a cold beard about 800 PM tonight with my dad. And uh just really looking forward to seeing two old vets battle it out on the mound. Absolutely love it. What a just a series that came off against the Rockies, too. To really get the bats warmed up, ready for this one. It’s going to be awesome. And then the series against the Cubs should be great, too. But uh hey, let’s talk a little bit of curling. Coming to Bowmont October 14th to the 19th, you’re going to have the top 16s men’s and ladies tournaments in the world. U25 and U15 junior slams at the Bulmont Curling Club. Uh I want to just ask you kind of about your career playing at that age. How cool is an event like this? Well, you know what? I that was some of my favorite memories growing up was playing uh you know uni junior curling when I was you know young and then into university and um you know one of the things we’re we’re finding in Canada is we lose a lot of junior curlers when they graduate from from college and university because they join the workforce and they simply don’t have the capacity to curl anymore. there’s quite a gap that uh you know we’re trying to help bridge and this is the first ever junior grand slam that we’re hosting this year in uh in Niscu and Bowmont and it’s going to be really exciting. We’re going to really uh hopefully give these these uh these kids a chance to uh play you know right next to their idols and uh you know give them a chance to uh you know realize a dream of maybe being a pro pro curler one day. Yeah, it’s going to be awesome. 36 pro teams at Silent Eye Center. Also, you’re gonna have the like 144 of the top athletes, four teams representing the Bowmont Curling Club. So, it’s going to be awesome. Tickets, $5 per game or $40 for the event. You can go to the grand slam of curling.com for more information. So, let’s talk about that. You know, your career in curling. How did you get into it? What age did you start uh getting out there on the sheet? Uh, I was about 5 years old when I first started. I was a bit I was a military brat, so we were moving around the country with my dad being in the military. And I remember the day he put me on the curling ice and plpped me on a curling rock and threw me down the ice. And uh I was hooked ever since. And uh yeah, it was uh yeah, so ever since then I kind of curled little rocks and then through the junior uh career uh growing up in Ontario there. And then uh moved out to uh right in my early 20s, I moved out west to to Alberta and uh got to say I love this province. Uh never never really looked back since. and uh it’s been a great game that I’ve I’ve enjoyed playing most of my life. Curling legend John Morris, two-time Olympic gold medalist, joining us here on the Jason Greger show. Connor Howie, he’s sitting in. So, growing up, any other sports that you were getting into or was it mostly curling that had your attention? Uh yeah, I played I dabbled in hockey. Uh I was I was never as good at hockey as I was curling. Um but I I did love playing ball. I I ended up playing college ball. So, my my we had a rule in our family. you got to always play a winter sport and you have to always play a a summer sport. I think it was to kind of keep us out of trouble. So, um curling turned into my winter sport and then I I loved baseball so I played ball uh throughout my summers and uh we were one game away from the Little League World Series when I was 13. Really? My claim to fame. Yeah. Oh wow. So legit. That’s actually awesome. So I want to ask you at one age were you like okay the I’m pretty damn good at curling. I could take this to the Olympics, the brier, those sorts of things. When did you realize that you were that good? Um, I think that one thing that set me apart was I was a a dire competitor. Like I, you know, I had two older sisters. uh we played, you know, came from a sports background uh house and we in everything we did, we just hated to lose and I I caught that bug early and um you know, like whether it was a board game or at Christmas or whatever, like I just hated to lose and I think that’s what separated me from a lot of other you know athletes, younger athletes and especially in the curling in the curling rink is that I just never I hated to lose. So, I just had this this will to compete all the time and uh um you know, sometimes it it uh it it it was a bit of an uh you know, it was tough on me because uh you know, you don’t always want to be that competitive in everything you do, but it sure helped out when I was playing in a in high performance and and in in elite curling. Um, and it’s funny. I see I have a son now and he’s seven years old and he’s he’s just got he’s got that same Morris uh drive to, you know, to win and and not never lose. So, um, we’ll see. Maybe maybe we got another generation coming up here soon. John Morris joining us here on the Jason Greger show. A two-time Olympian uh three-time Olympian, two-time Olympic gold medalist. Also crushed it at the Briars on multiple occasions. And so I want to ask you, I mean, you you start to get into the World Junior Championships in 20 or sorry, 1998, 1999, representing Ontario, and then you make that jump to the Brier in 2002 going against, you know, the best grillers in Canada and some absolute legends. What was that like getting out there and being on that stage with them? Well, you know what it was? Yeah, I felt really lucky to have and privileged to come up at that point. Like I I grew up in the in the likes of with you know Randy Furby, Kevin Martin, Al Hackner, Ed Wick, Russ Howard, those were all the uh you know and and at a at an early age my my dad was our coach and he uh you know he got us playing against some men when we were by the time we were 16. So, you know, we didn’t when we were 16 to 20, yeah, we play still play against some junior teams, but we were playing against a lot of men’s teams. And I think that really helped us make that jump into the into the men’s ranks uh quicker than others. And uh but yeah, I think the first few games, you know, you’re you know, you’re watching these idols of yours, you know, that you’re playing against. But again, and then that that that that uh that will to win kind of took over. And I never I didn’t really see them as my idols anymore. I saw them as another competitor that I wanted to kick their ass. And uh and uh so, you know, that’s that’s kind of what drove me. And uh but the good thing about curling is you know that’s how it goes on the ice is you you know you got that you got that fiery competition on the ice but then afterwards uh I I grew up in an era where we’d sit down after the game and we’d have a beer with our opposition and uh it was also one of my favorite parts of the game was playing cards and having a beer with the team after which is pretty cool. Oh that’s awesome. Now I know in 2006 you paired up with one of the greatest of all time Kevin Martin. I think at the time that the plan was to go to the Olympics and represent Canada, take gold in Vancouver. But how did that all come together? Because now, you know, you can go check the history books. You guys did pretty good. Yeah. You know what? It’s an interesting story. Uh I was just about to I just got accepted to Queens University for Teachers College and I was about to go back because we were, you know, we were we were close. I was playing with a team out of Calgary at the time with Kevin Cooey and we were probably ranked fifth in the in can in you know Canada and we were getting close but uh it was a grind you know we didn’t have a lot of sponsors and uh and I so I I I said you know I I got to have a career doing something so I I got into teachers college I was just about to go back and and uh got a call from Kevin Martin and uh we got chatting on the phone and decided to uh you know let’s let’s put a let’s put together a four-year plan to you know, to essentially beat Randy Furby because he was the best team at the time and uh and win an Olympics for Canada. And that was always a dream of mine. So that uh with that, you know, with that opportunity, we put together a team of very like-minded individuals in Mark Kennedy and Ben Heert. And I have to say, I’ve never been that was the fa my favorite team I’ve ever been on in my life. Um, you know, we we all had a very the same mentality where we we just were driven. We were so driven to win. And again, we’re competitors and we worked our ass off more than all four of us worked our absolute ass off for that team. And uh and we we we it came to fruition right away. Like I think our first we were we started this season 29 and0 and we said all of a sudden we said holy sorry excuse my language said holy crap we got a we got ourselves a team here that we think we can make some magic happen. So fast forward four years later and um we were in Vancouver uh representing Canada and it was by far the best four years I ever had. uh you know we were the best team in the world for the better part of that four years and uh you know I I I I learned about country music playing with those guys and uh I every we’d come home from our games and our tournaments we’d pour ourselves a a whiskey and we watched the Oilers game and I became a huge Oilers fan at that point too and it was just uh something pretty special that I’ll never forget. You truly embodied the Alberta spirit when you joined that team country music whiskey and the Oilers. We’re joined here by John Morris, uh, twotime Olympic gold medalist at the Olympics, a brier champion on multiple occasions. A few more before we let you go here. I do have to ask you, in 2018, you make the jump to, uh, doing a different sort of curling, mixed doubles with Caitlyn Law. What went into that decision to get into mixed doubles, and how much changes when you go from the group with the three other men to joining with another woman and just doing two of you? Well, I was still playing men’s at the time. So, um, you know, I was still I always loved men’s men’s curling, just, you know, playing with your friends and, you know, that was so I I still did that. But what happened was curling uh opened up at the Olympics another another uh avenue to make the Olympics and that was mixed doubles. So, it was kind of new to us, new to all of the these curlers in Canada that we had a chance to go to the Olympics, not only in fourperson team curling, but also in mixed doubles. So, it was a no-brainer for me. Like I always loved um you know every aspect of the game sweeping you know strategy throwing big weight drawing. So it was I loved the you know the fact that that mixed doubles encompasses all of that. Obviously playing with a female rather than three males was a little bit different and you know it took some uh you know it took some learning and and that sort of thing. But um I I love that sport and and uh we we Caitlin and I started doing really well right away. Uh and uh ended up making Korea and yeah, it was uh it was just a real good match. And you know, the biggest the biggest part of it was it was an opportunity to wear that Maple Leaf for Canada again and uh potentially win another medal for your country. So to me that was a no-brainer. If I could do that in rowing or uh biking or whatever, I I would do it, you know. So having the chance to do it in in a similar discipline and mixed doubles was a no-brainer for me and and it felt like a really good fit. So I’m pretty proud of that, too. Oh, that was awesome. And John, I mean, we I’ve got more questions. We could keep you longer, but we we said we’d keep it 15 to 20 minutes. So, thank you so much for doing this today. Uh we we’ll get out there hopefully October and see you uh down at the Tour Challenge Grand Slam. It’s going to be great. I’ll give all the information again after we let you go here. Thanks for having me on, guys. Thank you. Have a good weekend. Thank you as well. Enjoy the game and hey, go Blue Jays. That is a twotime Olympic gold medalist John Morris curler. Remember, use your game sense gamesense.ab your gamesenseab.ca. That’s what it is. Uh Connor Hally, Wanya Gretz with you here. We also got Declan Cougar and Jos Fenwood keeping us on track. I asked Declan this question, Wany. And then I answered myself hypothetically. You win $55 million. The rule is if you are a listener of our show and you win, you got to throw a party. If you have to spend any, use your own discretion, but you have to waste a good chunk of money on something useless, what’s it going to be? Because Declan first did ice sculptures, but then did a basketball court. I had that uh like fake skydiving, like indoor skydiving that just like the big fans float you up in the air. What would you do? That’s what you do with $55 million. You’d float. My party would include one of those machines for people who want to get in on it. Like, do you watch Parks and Wreck? No. Oh. Well, there’s a part where uh they have there’s a company that goes under and they just with the remaining money have a huge party with all this stupid stuff like Roy Hibbert’s there listing people up and getting drinks off the top shelf. It’s it’s silly. But if you had to like buy like for a party you had to get some sort of waste of money but people would enjoy it. Like what would it be? Well, that’s big weight. Like you could do a lot of stuff. You could divert the river. You know what I mean? You could like move to North Saskatchewan like flood a plane. Yeah, that’d be pretty expensive to do. You could like reassemble a band that broke up years ago. You could just start throwing money around and acting all crazy. You could just do a cool Sunday bar. Yeah, you could do a Sunday bar. You could purchase and subsequently ruin dozens of hot air balloons. You could have a big hot air balloon cavalcade across the night sky. I don’t think I would ever go in a hot air balloon. 55 million. I think you’re in statue territory in that you make your own statue. That’d be cool. You buy a lot. You commission your own statue. You’re like, “What’ that guy do?” You’re like, “Well, he won the lottery. He bought it is what he did. That’s fair. I’m intrigued by it. Might buy a ticket just in case I do win.” I like that you’re just like, “Oh, I won $55 million bucks. I should get fans to float me.” Well, the thing is, as as per Gregor’s request, we have to throw a party. So, if I have $55 million, well, how do I make this party like some something never’s been done before? People haven’t done indoor skydiving. Sick. Yeah. He could pay to implode the old stadium. We were discussing at Oilers Nation if the reason the Oilers can’t win the cup is because uh Rexall Place is still standing. Some sort of Ghostbusters theory. There’s a bunch of spirits trapped in the old arena. We bring the old arena down. They’re released from their prison. Boilers win the cup. Thoughts? I mean, I like the old bar and it’d be sad to see it go down, but it’s rotting in its state. I’ve never been in it. I wasn’t there for the last media avail. You were? Yeah. They let you in. They let me in and I got to see the dressing room and I got to see all the spent shells from the SWAT team which does training in there. Oh, really? Oh, yeah. So, it was still useful. No, you could tell like it was they had big puddles on the concourse. Yeah, it was crazy. Good mess. But do you think that there are some sort of spirit entities locked in the old stadium that need to be set free? Yeah, I’m I’m going to buy into this one. It’s like $21 million to bring down the arena, they said. So, okay, I’m not wasting that much money. Well, if you just won 55 to go to Vegas, double it, then I might. Would you have the stones hand of blackjack? Would you? No, of course not. Compound a lot win with a blackjack win. That’s a parlay. Take it to the roulette table. No, no, I would never do that. But hey, maybe I could start a group like, “Hey guys, you raise half the money, I’ll do the other half.” You could have like Rihanna come sing in your backyard. Yeah, it’s like 7 million. That That would be a good one. And then like that’s it. And the rest of the money is going to savings. Going to the boy. Uh let’s get to Cam Tate’s twominute warning here on the show. Of course, Cam Tate, we’ve got his words Monday, Wednesday, Friday here on the show. He has cerebral palsy. Um, but through the the power of technology and now me, I suppose, we’re going to get to the twominute warning right now. Dean, do we have music? Hit my music. This afternoon’s mission, Connor Hally, should you accept it. And why the heck wouldn’t you, is to not keyword there, not make young Death Krueger over there laugh after hearing this broadcasting experience showcase. Because I’m betting grandfather Tate’s machinery, even that Massie Harris combine that never works. Declan, he’s going to laugh. But then again, he may not. Now, the last time I was stung by a bee, I was at center field, Taylor Field, Regina, Saskatchewan, 1994. Ray Jot, remember him? Elk coach in the mid70s was coaching the Riders. My dad and I were in Regina, stopped by practice, and Mr. Josh, I’m sorry if I’m butchering his name, invited us to center field. As a kid, the Saskatchewan Riders, they were my team, still are. And to be on the field, center field, was a dream come true until a bee, a big bee, flew in under my shirt and stung me on the belly button. Not making this up, but that’s not what Declan might laugh at. No, no. I bring up that story because tonight I’m going to get stung again. Going with the one and only Big Mike to the Edmonton Stingers game, 700 p.m. tip off against Niagara at the Expo Center. Basketball played a major part of my young sports writing career. I covered the Edmontonbased Alberta Northern Lights wheelchair basketball team for 15 years starting in 1979. Declan, is he still awake over there? Let’s see if he doesn’t laugh at this. I knew nothing about basketball. Nothing. I was a hockey guy. So, in my first basketball story, I wrote and it wasn’t caught by copy editors. Are you ready, Declan? I wrote in the Edmonton Journal. The Northern Lights starting six. Laughing yet? Two-minute warning. Tape Alley Krueger. Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Sports 14:40. Declan, did you get a laugh over that one? Yeah. Starting. That’s a tough one. All you got to think, it’s pretty tough to miscount five guys on the court. Um, but yeah, listen, new sport. I totally get it. I’d probably do the same thing. I miscounted four earlier today and Josh miscounted two. So, we’ve we’ve had our not math guys back here. We’ve had our fair share of a tough go, but that one that one did make me laugh. I feel like how does that, by the way, how does that not get by How does that get by an editor? I think as a writer now was it like was it a computer a typewriter written down in hand? I don’t know about the industry but like the editor can still read like you know if you’re cam you can get a bit away with it like oh typo but the the editor you have to get that one. Yeah. I mean it’s pretty tough to like mistype six and five vastly different writing. Yeah. If it was written if it was written CP style but I don’t know. That is a funny one. made me laugh. I like it. Good story, Tate. Um, Bernard came in in the building one of these days to write one. I thought it was going to be today. Didn’t end up happening, but in the future. Um, can I just quickly ask how you guys miscounted two and four? Oh, man. So, I How did I do it? I don’t even remember. Josh, do you remember? I um I uh I don’t remember how I did it. I think I threw up my fingers and I was supposed to throw up four and I threw up three or something. Oh. You’re counting. How many guests were on the show today? How many guests on the show? Okay. Well, it happens. You’re not supposed to do math when the mic’s on. It’s never going to be successful. Even if it is, it’s not worth the risk. Mic was off. Mic was off. Oh, just hands. Okay. Well, whatever. It happens. Uh, Wany, do you want to get to the oil report brought to you by Volvo Cars Edmonton, 13 time award winner for service and sales. You will get a great vehicle, but even better service. Take a test drive today at volvaccarsed edmonton.com. You were talking about the ghosts of Skyreach. Wow. Rexall Coliseum Northlands. Northlands. Single best memory from that barn. What was it? Game six 2006 cup final. You were there. Oh yeah, I was there. Sold my TV to go. Why would you? Yes. It was a big screen. Yeah. I regret nothing. It was awesome. It was unreal. Probably the most fun game. I was standing room only top row. Unless I witnessed the Oilers win the cup with my own two eyeballs. That will be the best game I’ve ever attended. Second best moment cuz actually no like real moments are a category of its own but one of my favorite memories there me and my buddy went to a random game. We like 19 years old went and got two Coliseum beers. They tasted like Skittles. It was so weird. That means you got a lucky one. We drank them both. We’re like these are unbelievable. Like, did someone poison these? Yes. Went and got two more. Same spot. Tasted like beer again. But these two beers, I’ll never forget. Tastes like Skittles. They used to have a roast beef sandwich on the second floor of the old stadium. One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life, sporting event or not. And I was like, “Oh, when they moved to that new arena, I hope they bring this roast beef sandwich.” And they didn’t. Did you have ou or gravy? Yeah. Yeah, like it was just it was right there with the roast and the guy cut it and threw it on a bun and boy oh boy. That Oju was better than the 2010 season. Yes. Low bar, but all that got me through. Yeah. That was a great a great spot for a rink. Oh yeah. Just like you go head off Yellowhead and go over that bridge, whatever it is. I remember that’s where we’d get dropped off and run in straight to the ATM, get some money. Oh yeah. Get a 50/50. You get a beer. No. Two beers. Be shocked at the price of a $7 beer. Yeah. Talk to your friend about how society’s going to heck. I used to get three beers for this 20. No, not the case. Good spot. Great spot. Great new new ring’s fine as well. But uh I remember being there as a kid when the oil derek was its first game coming down. Yeah. I was there with my little buddy and talk about excitement. The pregame show back in the day at the old arena. Unreal. when this when the oil der started coming down from the roof and the fireworks shot out because didn’t they do like when it was coming down smoke as well? You’d hear that sound noxious smoke that would be trapped in the building until at least the second intermission. Yeah. Get to your seat. Unreal game time. Players walking out like through the fans. Do you ever watch old footage of those games on YouTube now? The lighting makes it look so weird. I try to watch and I kind of get the vibe like every playoffs I’ll watch the 2006 intro from CBC of the Stanley Cup final. But like, hey, we’re all taxpayers. Can CBC release a good version of that? What do you mean? Like a high quality like it looks like it’s being recorded on my phone from 2006. We got to get like a nice crystal clear version of that. I remember you’re talking about when they played Saving Me. That’s the intro. Well, that was the intro, but I mean it was Nina Simone and then it would cut to Black Eyed Peas, right? And that was that was the one. But you’re talking about like the CBC intro. Yeah, that was a good one, too. I remember when they played Saving Me when it hit, I was like, Nickelback, they’re the worst. And by the end of the intro, I was like, get me one of those Nickelback CDs I’ve heard so much about. Like, I changed within the span of two minutes. Single tier going down. What an emotional night. Yeah, I was. You’re talking game seven? Of course. I yeah game six too for that matter. We’ve talked about it. I know you you had a tough night. I don’t remember it. I just It’s a blank spot in my memory. Don’t know. We’ve even brought it up. I don’t know the score in that game. I don’t know who scored. I don’t remember anything. 3-1. What? I don’t even know how I got home. Ah and but it wasn’t from booze. What? It was just like I it was a traumatic moment for me. I’m like I don’t even want to think about it. Where were you two seasons ago? Game seven. Uh my in-laws down in the basement. Any emotion? No, le I’ve take I took a step back, I suppose. Are we dead inside? Um less less a fan since working in media. Really? Yeah. You know, even the Chargers. Like that’s my like my third love is the Chargers, right? And even now I’m like Rashan Slater gets hurt, but Chargers fans panic and I’m like, you know, it’s just the game. I like the Oilers as much as I did the very first day we started writing about them in 1926. And uh it hasn’t diminished at all. That’s what I mean this business has jaded me like dealing with certain people. Yeah. It’s like this can’t it’s not the same. I was talking to the Duke of Brandon Douglas about this. Working in this industry betting and fantasy sports have like ruined my ability to just sit down and watch a game. What happens when you try to watch a game now? Cuz like like let’s say let’s just use football for an example and like we I have Derrick Henry on my fantasy team or put a money on him for an anytime touchdown. If he doesn’t score a touchdown or have a good game, my experience is ruined. But if he does, do you have a commensurate level of fun? A little more. Yeah. But like I just, you know, before I just sit down and watch a game for the thrill of it. Now it’s like with fantasy football, fantasy hockey, I’m always hoping for something else. I don’t bet on sports. Smart. Yeah. I’ll I’ll throw a dice in the alley with an old man that lives next to me. Not really. That’s the thrill. But I don’t bet like I’ll bet a hundred bucks in the Oilers to win the cup, but that’s it. Mhm. I don’t think that Yeah. Like you want to pollute the experience. I want to keep it pure. And I don’t really watch other sports other than the Oilers, but I’ll watch like 79 of 82 games every season. Keep it pure. You got to. Uh imitation Tom Thompson says, “My first game was the infamous Patrick Stefan.” Wow. That was a moment. That was like the last echo of the ‘ 06 cup run. There was like one last cheer in the building. You know what I mean? The perfect transition the other way. Like I don’t think I’ve seen a cleaner breakout since. It was just beautiful. Anyways, that was the old report. We’ll take a break. When we come back, we are going to talk a little football. Uh we’re going to look at the college ranks as well as the pro ranks with Bill Bender from the sporting news. Hey Connor, how are you? Thanks for having me. Yeah, I’m doing really good, thank you. And life is good. We’ve got NFL football back. preseason uh underway last night, of course, after the Hall of Fame game and continues on tonight. So, I want to start off with the Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons. That’s kind of a thing that’s just been ongoing here. And I’ve always thought like this should be easy. We saw TJ Watt get his deal. I thought that would at least be, you know, the start of the number for the discussion and the negotiation. How do you think this plays out when, you know, if this deal gets done or do you think potentially it could be a trade? I think a deal will get done and I, you know, I just don’t see Jerry Jones letting Mike Michael Parsons get away. That’s speculative. Admittedly, I’m not inside that building, but uh, you know, I just can’t see them letting a pass rush talent like you mentioned on the, uh, level of TJ Watt and Trey Hendrickson. And and you know, the thing, if I could make a prediction, it would be it’ll probably push up right against week one. you know, that that didn’t that kind of happen with Dak and and CD uh in past seasons that I do think they’ll get a deal done and I do think this is a big year for the Cowboys. It really is because the talent’s there. We know that. But but they’ve got to go out and get it done on the field. Yeah, the Dallas Cowboys for sure. The talent is there. Of course, going out there uh bringing in some talent at the wide receiver position, George Pickkins from the Pittsburgh Steelers. And now Brian Shot and I were taking over as the head coach. What did you think of the hire at the time and what kind of job do you think he’s going to do with a franchise that, let’s face it, probably has the most eyes on it? Yeah, you’re right. I mean, they’re always very visible. Thursday night opener. Um the the McCarthy McCarthy won games. He just didn’t win playoffs games. And then I kind of balloon went out last year and like I said, the big year for Dak uh that the pickins trade shows that they’re going to be able to throw the ball. Um and you know, the offensive line running game needs to be a little bit better. But I I think you know with Parsons on the field, yeah, that’s a team capable of challenging the Eagles. I don’t know if they can beat them, but they can certainly challenge them in the NFC East. And without Parsons though, it I I mean it could be more of the same. Bill Bender joining us here on the Jason Greger show. Connor Hally sitting in taking a look around the NFL. And tonight uh should be a very fun one out in Carolina with the Panthers taking on the Cleveland Browns. The quarterback situation in Cleveland to me it’s interesting. I think Joe Flacco will be QB1 going into the season. We’ll see how long he holds on to it. But Shader Sanders looking like he’s going to get towards 50 snaps tonight against the Panthers. I just want to ask you just kind of the timeline with Shador Sanders. I mean, slid sliding the way he did in the draft, going to a team that already selected a quarterback and Dylan Gabriel. What are your expectations as a timeline for Shor Sanders this season and maybe even going into the next couple years? Well, the Browns have started seven different quarterbacks the last two years. So, I mean, if you’re asking me, do I think he’ll start at some point this season? That’s a smart bet. I mean, I I think they’re gonna show a little bit of all these guys. Tonight’s a big night for Shadore. I mean, I’m getting ready. I’m gonna be honest. As you know, I’m in Ohio. I’m kind of getting ready to one settle in and watch it and two, uh, monitor the the threads on my phone from my Browns buddies. So, it’ll be too full tonight. And, uh, very interesting night for Shadore. I I hope he does well. I obviously his draft slide most documented maybe ever. and uh you know you want him to do it well but I’m with you I think Flaco will probably start and then we’ll see a little bit of all those guys and it’s not the problem is it’s just not a long-term plan at the position unless Shadore I say even Kenny Picket or Dylan Gabriel shines. Are there any other storylines that have caught your eye in the preseason whether you know it might be uh just players to watch camp battles anything like that? Well, I mean, the Bengals are close to home as well, and you know, playing Joe Burrow says that they’re they’re done having these slow starts. I think that’s one. I think Detroit without both coordinators. Big year for the Lions, too. I mean, obviously, they’ve been really awesome the last couple years, but they lose both coordinators. Uh, how does Dan Campbell manage that with the talent that they have? I I would say there’s probably more pressure on them than being like the shiny new team in the NFL, especially after what happened against Washington last year. Um Terry McLuren, obviously another story there for the Commanders. And then um you know what, Philly’s had kind of just a go about it off seasonason. That’s a machine though. They were awesome last year and I think they’re going to be awesome again. Bill Bender joining us here on the Jason Greger show taking a look around the NFL. Last night we did see the Indianapolis Colts with Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson uh take part in their first preseason game. Richardson a little bit of a an injury. That finger is not supposed to go that way and Daniel Jones struggled. Who do you foresee being the guy there in Indie this season? I mean I would assume it’s Richardson, but do you think he starts and finishes the season as the starter? Well, I don’t know how to answer that without saying I think Palance there. One of the things he might have benefited from was sitting more early, you know. I think he’s one of those guys that’s that’s a lost thing in not college, the NFL. It’s a lost thing in college, too, by the way. But, um, yeah, and I think he will start the season and you want him to do well. But, uh, Indo Jones is there. There’s some experience. I think they’ll both end up seeing time, but, uh, they really want Anthony Richardson to succeed. They’re going to give him every opportunity to do that. Um, but I I just don’t know what’s around him. You know, they’ll have a strong running game, but uh there’s been flashes, but like you said, the health is a big one, and we’re already off to a bad start there. Looking around some of the other divisions in the NFL, the AFC West will be interesting. It’s been the Chiefs division for a long time. Chargers have a huge injury yesterday with Rashan Slater going down. And the Denver Broncos, I mean, people might have said it was a no-name defense last year, but they added some really nice pieces. Bon Knicks was good going into year two. Who do you like to come out of that division? Well, the Chiefs, but it’s going to be harder. I mean, you have three, let me get this right, three coaches that have won a Super Bowl in the division and the other has a national title uh with Michigan and and got the Chargers in the playoffs last year. So, I think from a coach standpoint, that’s the best division in the NFL. And for Kansas City, I mean, how did they recover from last year? They played a lot of football and that’s something that’s maybe more of an NBA thing than an NFL thing, but when you’ve made three straight and four straight deep runs, you know, this is an opportunity for Denver, an opportunity for for the Chargers. And even I think the Raiders, as bad as they’ve been, you know, you add Ashton Genty, Pete Carol’s an awesome coach. Uh Gino could be good there and Chip Kelly. I I like the mix that they have. So there will be no more easy outs for the Chiefs in that division and how they wear. I still think they’re the team to beat though. I mean, as long as Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are healthy, they they’ve been able to figure out the rest, but I think it’s going to be a little more difficult. So, if I could ask you from the AFC and the NFC, who do you think are the top three teams most likely to represent their conference in the Super Bowl? Man, you’re bringing it. That AFC one, I’ve got to cut one already. So, I think AFC say uh you really put me on the spot here. I’ll say Kansas City still because somebody has to do it. They have to go beat them then Buffalo then I you know I’m going to go Cincy. I I think the Bengals would burrow that the defense has got to be a little better but I like how they closed last year and I’m biased because I live in Ohio. Um, so Cincinnati, and then the NFC, I would go Philly, Detroit. I still think they’re going to be really good. And then probably Washington. And I think Green Bay’s still there. Green Bay is definitely one of those teams. They were close last year. They’ve added some pieces around Jordan Love, namely Matthew Golden. And I think if those receivers catch the ball a little bit, Green Bay will be right there. What are your thoughts on JJ McCarthy with the Vikings this year? You know, last year obviously had the big injury and Sam Darnold took over, got paid, and deservingly so. But JJ McCarthy, he’s going to get his chance. Oh, for sure. And I think with JJ the winner, you know, that was like the thing at Michigan. I mean, I don’t know that he got to show the whole bag there because they were so good at running the football and now there’s this opportunity. I mean, North is a tough division. When you look at Detroit and you look at Green Bay, they’re established. When you look at I think the Bears will be better around Caleb. I don’t know how much better, but they’ll be better. So, you know, for for JJ, I think you almost got to treat him like a rookie this year. You know, he missed all of last year with the injury, and I think we’re going to overreact to a lot of things with him, but, you know, they must have a lot of faith in him, the receivers he’s throwing to, because they let Sam Darnold go. Just before we let you go here, I just want to look at the college football scene, Bill. Bill Benner joining us from uh Sporting News here, taking a look around the football world. Who are a couple teams you think uh will be in the well the final four maybe in the conversation when we get down to the the end of this season and some teams to watch out for. I can answer this one a little quicker. Uh Texas, Ohio State, Georgia, Penn State, that’s kind of the final four I’m looking at. Although, you know, that’s two from the SEC, two from the Big 10. Clemson’s going to be really good this year. Notre Dame, if CJ Carr is who I think he’s going to be, they’re going to be good. And then that leaves room for a wild card between Alabama and LSU. The difference with maybe it’s a difference. The difference with college football in my opinion is those eight teams I just kind of rattled off. I think national championship will come with one of them. You know, as much as I love the 12 team playoff on any given year, there’s only six to eight teams that can really do that. And the NFL’s kind of like that, too. I think between the six you maybe may name in the NFL and the eight um if you give me Baltimore and Green Bay as bonuses, those will be your two champions. Now, Bill, I feel like this conversation kind of pops up all the time, but you talk about the greatest college football teams of all time. If I were to ask you, uh 2001 Miami, 2019 LSU or other, who would be your top college football team of all time? Oh, that’s great that you got those two. So, I’m going to send you this article I did last year where I kind of did a fake playoff. I don’t know. And it was imaginary, but I kind of wrote fake game stories and and the final game was uh LSU Miami. Those two teams you mentioned, those are the two best teams I’ve seen this century. I know USC would want to be in that argument, but um be hard for me not to take LSU in that event because of Burrow, Jefferson, Chase, um everything they had on offense. But then you’re telling me, man, you’re picking against uh, you know, Willil Fork and those guys that Miami had. So that would be the dream matchup. There’s no wrong answer with those two. I’d probably go LSU, but man, it’s close. I mean, the you that in that situation with that team, they would have been very good. I saw a video last night and they said it was Entrail Ro, Shawn Taylor, and Kellen Winslow Jr. were on special teams in that 2001 team. Like absolutely unbelievable. So, I just had to throw that one year away. And uh hey Bill, really appreciate you doing this. Uh we’ll have to get you on again later on in the seasons. Anytime. Thanks for having me on. Have a great weekend. There you go. You as well. That is Bill Bender covers the NFL for the sporting news. And uh Duckan, quickly, you want to weigh in on that one? Greatest football team in the collegiate level. I’m so glad you brought that up. It has to be the 01 Hurricanes. I saw that same video you were talking about. And yeah, on trail roll, Shawn Taylor, and Kellen Winsow running down on kickoff. Yeah, Greg Olsen also, it was a part of my take interview. He made the point that they had to move Willis McGeehe to backup fullback because he was behind Clinton Portoris and Frank Gore. Frank Gore. Exact. There you go. Exactly. I mean, the list of Hall of Famers on that team insane. I will never ever ever say a a college team can go into the pros and perform well except for that team. I don’t know if they’d perform well, but they would be the exception. They could legitimately compete. I fully believe that. And it’s funny because, you know, you look back, who’s the quarterback? Was it Ken Dorsy? It was. Yeah. Is that that would be maybe the weak spot. So may like if you put those two teams together in a hypo hypothetical situation. Could Joe Burrow out do with them? But that defense was so dang good. A discussion for another day. Maybe we’ll have it in a couple weeks. Let’s take a break. When we come back, five questions with Declan Krueger. Declan Krueger going to take over as I head to Sherlock’s North for the watch party tonight. Elks taking on the Alowettes. That one gets going at 5:30. Can’t wait to go eat. I dropped off those cinnamon buns. Went down and grabbed some on 12. They’re all gone. So good. I was hoping I could get one for the road. They’re all gone now. Got to swing by Bubba Gumps. People got to eat. That’s the one thing we’ve learned in this. People got to eat. And if you leave food out, it’s not going to last. Well, if you leave a box of cinnamon buns unattended. They’re so good. 9 seconds in the microwave. Is that what you need? That’s what I do. 9 seconds. You don’t want the frosting to melt. Totally. But you’re a scientist, aren’t you? Years of prep. Wow. I just got lucky. I tried 9 seconds. It worked out pretty good. So, anyh who, let’s get to five questions with Declan Krueger. Brought to you by the Brick. You can save $200 on a 65 in LG smart TV. Just $699. Also, bedroom and dining furniture is up to 20% off and queen-siz beds start at just $2.99 only at the Brick. It’s time for five questions on the Jason Greger show. Okay, question number one. It’s an ann. Can I have a score prediction and a bold prediction for this one? I think the Elks are going to win and that is an unpopular take in some circles and that would be my bold predict. Yeah, I mean I think I’m probably with you there. I yesterday I thought the Owls would take it and then I just thought about it. They’ve got some injuries. Uh Elks playing better, you know, they’re just kind of shooting themselves in the foot. They’re so close. If they clean up a couple mistakes, I think they can win. I think it’ll be by a touchdown. So, let’s say seven. Uh let’s say 38-31. Lots of points there. Bold prediction. Two scores from ranking. You get inside the five. You give it to your power back. Take it out of the quarterback’s hands. The third stringer. Give it to ranking. Two scores from number five. You know what I think, Declan? Yeah. I think the Elks are better than their record would suggest. I would agree. Do you know who I got that opinion from? Did you get it from you? Elks Nation. From you specifically on Elks Nation. I’m like, you know what, Declan’s right. It’s not what the record suggests. That’s what we do. Facts, not feelings. Amen. over at alexnation.ca. Question number two, Ashton Genty had three carries for minus one yard in his preseason game last night versus the Seahawks. Uh Connor obviously vaunted AFC West hater. You were actually a hater of Ashton Jenty during his time at Boise State. So, what do you make of this and does it concern you? I don’t know if I was a hater at Boise State. I said he should have won the Heisman poor Travis Hunter. Yeah. Yeah. I was team Ashton Genty actually. I I did like him. I loved his stance, but they’ve corrected that and he became a Raider. Now I don’t like him. So, but I want to be a jerk and just say, “Oh, he there’s concern. He doesn’t look like he can do it at the NFL level. It’s one game. It’s three carries.” No, I’m not concerned about it. Yeah, I think he’s going to be a very good player for a long time. Not as good as Omarian Hampton, but uh no, no concern for me at this one yet. Declan, no concerns, Declan. Preseason counts for nothing. That is true. Question number three. Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer pitching against each other tonight. Matchups between 3,000 strikeout pitchers historically rare. Only the f fourth one since the 80s. Who gets more Ks tonight? Who has the who has had the better career? And what would the NHL equivalent of this be? Declan, what are you trying to do? You might try to make a fool out of me middle of the summertime. I don’t know these questions. Kershaw Scherzer Legends pleading the fifth. Uh, who strikes out more tonight? If my statistics are correct here, the Jays strike out the least amongst teams. That’s 6.58 times per game. I’m hoping that these statistics are correct. When I scroll for the Dodgers at 8.45, so I’m going to go with the numbers here. Sometimes the numbers don’t lie. So, I’ll say the Dodgers strike out more. I will say better career. Oof. I’m going to lean Kershaw because he’s younger and can do more. And NHL equivalent. I’ll say Dominic Hashik and Patrick Wah. Wow. Two studs that have to, you know, shut down the opposing stars. I’ll say those two would be my pick. I think two elite goalies would be a good comparison. Okay. Question number four. Victoria Ambokco won the National Bank Open last night, beating four Grand Slam Grand Slam champions on route to the title. Uh some incredible Canadian performances recently. So I ask, how do you power rank these ones? SGA’s season, Summer Macintosh’s World Championships, and Victoria at the National Bank Open. Man, that’s such a good question. I feel like if you pick one, people might take it as you’re downplaying the rest, which I don’t want to be the case. They’re all elite performances. Um, I’m gonna go with Thummer. The hater in me wants to say it’s swimming. It’s all just different variations of swimming. But like, she just she’s so dominant. She’s 18. Um, and she entered with the expectation to do this. And she went out there and got what, four golds, Declan, one bronze. Yep. Pretty damn impressive. So, all of them amazing, but I’ll go with Summer Macintosh. It’s an amazing set of accomplishments for Canadian athletes and usually in Canada you’re only really cheering most people for hockey, right? But like to have the arguably one of the top three players in the NBA, Declan SGA. Yeah. That’s insane. I saw him talking to Thaiats fans the other day. You see that? Yeah. Yeah. How proud he was of being from Hamilton. What the heck? This is crazy. NBA star repping Hamilton, Ontario. Look, who ever thought we would see the day? Never. Not me. That’s insane. But Victoria didn’t even have a picture on the WTA website before the Canadian Open began. Like that is wild. The only thing I can think of that would be like that for somebody that unheralded was in John Dailyaly won the US Open is like a seventh alternate. Yeah. I wouldn’t suggest she’s the John Dailyaly of women’s tennis, don’t get me wrong. Summer Macintosh though, like I don’t think SGA and Summer Macintosh aren’t quite so out of left field. Yeah. Yeah, as Victoria’s win, right? Question number five. Well, I want to get your opinion on that one, Dean, too. Oh, man. You’re a you’re a tennis player, a swimmer, and a hooper. I’m not really a tennis player. Thank you for that, though. I appreciate I love tennis, but no, I’m I can’t call myself a tennis player. If I’m power ranking them, I’m honestly putting SGA first. He did it over a season and he got the title. He got the finals MVP. He got league MVP. He led the league in scoring. He did something only two guards had ever done, which was average 32 points a game on 54% shooting. Like, it was historic. I would probably put Summer Mintosh number two. I think she’s the best Canadian athlete right now, but I think that comes from totality of Olympics, World Championships, National Meets, etc., etc. Uh, for this specifically, I’ll put it number two. And what Victoria Boco did was amazing. Um, but it is it is a number three for me in this sense. If I could like be a hater with all of those, the SGA one, like the regular season, played a lot of bad teams, you know, to pick those stats. And Summer Macintosh, I mean, every event she goes to, she dominates, but there’s no bad answer there. So, I can’t uh I can’t be a hater. And question number five, Mount Rushmore season. What is your Mount Rushmore of things that change after you turn 30? Now, I’m getting to 40. I don’t really think it’s changed that much. Like no, but there’s like there has to be a noticeable difference from when you’re like 21 to post 30. Like the things I was interested in in those days definitely have changed, but I don’t like feel on a day-to-day basis. I’m like, ooh, my hip or anything whack like that. I think like the whole perception of you hit 30 and like, oh, downhill the next. No, it takes a long time. I will say, okay, for me, couple days ago, couple weeks ago, Ashley dropped her phone and I flinched till I kind of go pick it up. Hurt my back. I was hurt for like two days. There we go. It went away. So, like that there’s one. You can’t be moving quite as quick. Um then the obvious one would be like hangovers with age are going to get worse. So, physically there’s those two. Um dating after 30 for me got to be a little bit more mature. Really? Yeah. Well, you know, hey, eventually I did settle down. And then another one, um Oh, I get it. You’re a wild man. So, yeah. Well, not that wild, but you settle down eventually. Okay. You don’t have to. Uh and then a fourth one. I think things that change is actually just like having a a consistent social life. I would go out all the time with the boys, Friday, Saturday night. And then as you get older, inevitably some of your friends get married and have kids and all of a sudden you don’t quite see them as as often. maybe that the trips you might have done in your 20s don’t get done in your 30s. Still got to make time to see everyone, but it’s not quite what it used to be. So, I guess those would be the four things for me that have uh changed, declined a little bit after 30. Are you worried, Deck? Um, yeah. I mean, like I’ve already noticed some like I’m obviously not 30 yet. Um, but I’ve noticed some definite changes as I’ve gotten a little older. Like a big one is like like I used to be able to run x amount of kilometers without stretching. Like now you really feel it. Hangovers were a big one. That was the first one that came to mind. If I was putting an emotional age on you, Declan, you’re about 1974 date of birth. Okay. So 51 about that. I feel like you’ve seen a lot in your years on this planet. You think things were better quite a while ago and you think the world is in freef fall heading for I I think things could be the best they’ve ever been right now, but I don’t think they are. I think they could be. Oh, I see. Like with all the technological advancements, like the the the education from the past, there’s no reason that this era shouldn’t be the best time it’s ever been in human history. And people would argue that it is, but I still think there are a lot of negatives associated with it that just become normalized. That’s a 51-year-old man talking, right? So, I guess I should ask what the Mount Rushmore of things that change was once he turned 50. That would have been a better question. I saw this documentary one time and it was like about the Rolling Stones and MC Jagger’s walking backstage at a show. I think he’s turning 60 and somebody’s got a camera and they go, “What do you think?” And he goes, “What do I care? It’s another year about being MC Jagger. Woo.” And I always thought that was like a good way to get old, right? What do I care? Another year. Yeah. I mean, yeah. I I know a lot of people that like on social media like, “Oh, over this age. This is happening.” I’m like, it’s not that bad. Stretch. Wake up and stretch every day. I bet that goes a long way. I knew people that were boring when they were 18. They were then boring at 30 and they were boring at 40. Like, boring is boring. If you’re having a good time, but you got to admit like hangovers are worse now. You probably get more heartburn. I really don’t feel that. Your back’s a little more sore. No. Okay, man. When we had Benny, like the first couple months holding him, my back was feeling it. I think I built up the muscle a little bit more cuz now he’s heavier obviously and he doesn’t bother me. But like I was feeling like weird pain in my back and yeah, my sleeping patterns have changed cuz Wana Jr. being four, like they kids that age don’t wake up gradually. He’ll just wake up and then just like start marching around and stomping his feet like 3 seconds later. You have to be got to be sharp. on the road with JT Shark says, “Wait till you guys hit 50.” Greetings from the UK. JT Shark, thanks for tuning in from across the pond. Uh, very cool to have you joining us here. And, uh, keep the anything you might have noticed over 30, maybe you want to say 40, 50, things that change for you, you can let us know. 1833 44140. If you’re over 50 in the UK, you’re only what, 47? Yeah. In Canada, that’s how it works. Facts, right? Facts. Oh, I imagine you can crush the brown or the boo the beer in the UK at 15. Oh, probably no big deal. No hangovers. That was one of the things when I went to London. It blew me away was the amount of old people in the bars. Yeah. I was like, this is these people are tripping. Having good times. Pub culture there is something else. It’s different, isn’t it? They love it. All right. Well, that’s going to do it for me here on the Jason Greger show. Coming up next, we got Speck and Low Tide, but Declan Ker going to slide into the host chair. Wa, you’re going to stick around. You know it. Josh Veno’s going to slide over to the board and everything’s going to move on seamlessly. It’s only going to get better. What do you mean you’re the third stringer? You’ve made your ascent. I know. Listen. Yeah. Heavy wears the crown, right? This one’s finally mine. Happy to be here. But there’s no there’s no doubt that there’s a there’s a legitimate pecking order and I’m not I’m not really near the top of the list. But if there’s only four people in the pecking order and you’re in number three, that’s not a bad spot to be in, right? Like someone’s got to do it. Good heavens. I know. Happy to be here. It could have just been you. You could have been the one winding out this show. I feel like every 15 minutes someone dead. Yeah. Someone’s disappearing every 15 minutes. You can work for a fantastic company that loves to promote from within with great benefits. And they are huge sports fans. Apply at gsconstruction.ca. And with that, we welcome in Mark Spectre. Mark, how are you? Declan and Wany Gratz. What is going on, gentlemen? Oh my good. Mark, are you just looking at this like what are these two clowns doing in Jason’s show? You’ve known Jason all this time. You know, you work alongside him closely and you’re seeing this and you’re like how the mighty have fallen. What’s running through your head right now? Yeah, don’t tell anyone, but I’m sick and tired of talking to Jason Greor. This is awesome. I’ve been talking to this guy for like back since we did Specs Deck in I don’t know whatever when we were TS. No, we were team 1260. Yeah. way back in the day. Yeah, I’m only kidding. But hey, man, change is good, baby. What What do you guys got? What are you bringing today? Well, I got some qu I got some stuff, you know. I got some oil. I got some elks. I got a little bit of Jay’s. But I It’s funny you bring that up because I I’m going to ask you this. Listen, no one’s listening. Jason’s never going to find out. But honestly, like you’ve you know, you talk to him every day. You’ve known him for years. When those August 8ths and August 7th and August 6th rolled around, were you a little bit like, “All right, what are we going to talk about today?” like what’s happening this time? Oh, for sure. That but you know what? Sometimes it’s more fun because we there’s the the expectations are low. There’s no fires burning in town other than in Elks Land and they play. I’m watching them warm up here in a field. Uh you know when the or when it’s when it’s January, March, April, May, uh and it’s all orders all the time. Like it’s easy. So this is sometimes more fun, right? Let’s have a couple laughs. And you know what? One of the matchups I’m I’m I’m really uh cool with tonight is uh Kershaw and Sherzer. I think that’s going to be like such a cool thing to watch. Two old guys going at it. Well, yeah, that was one of the things I wanted to ask you about. I was reading since the 1980s. This is only the fourth time pitchers with 30,000 KS are going up against each other. I think Yeah, I think Kershaw was involved in one of the other ones against Justin Verlander. I mean, you’re far more in touch with baseball than I am, but just speak to a little bit to the historical significance of this. And then I had this on five questions as well, so I’ll throw it to you actually. Who has more K’s tonight? Who’s had the better career? And what do you expect from the game? Uh, you know what? Who’s had a better career? My recollection is that Kershaw broke in earlier than than Scherzer. Yeah, Kershaw was good faster than Sherzer, but that doesn’t always matter. Who’s got more World Series? Do we know? Well, I’m gonna have to look that one up. Like I said, not a baseball guy. I’m I’m not that. Don’t worry. Don’t look it up. I’m just Sherzer’s Josh got in my ear and told me it was Sherzer. Sherzer has more. So, you know, listen, like two old dogs that pitch that long and go through so many teams and are still going. They’re both old. How old are we here? How old are both guys? Josh, you’re gonna have to get in my ear again for this one, buddy. What a 41 and 37. 41 47. So Shers is 41 um because he’s older. So you know what it’s I think it’s a fun night tonight because listen it’s such a long season like guys are looking and searching for a reason to make something to to get excited about a start to get excited about a game. So on on both sets of hitters are hitting off of legends tonight, right? I’m going up. I’m a hitter. I’m going up against Kershaw. I’m going up against Sherzer. I’m pumped, man. Like, these guys are legends. They’re very likely Hall of Fame pitchers. This isn’t just a Tuesday night in Sacramento going up against some guy I never heard of. It’s a big deal. And for those two pitchers, like to pitch against, they pitched against each other. They’ve started against each other 13 times in their career. This is 14. It might well be the last one. You never know. Yeah. But it means a ton to I’m telling you it means a ton to those two guys to share them out with each other to uh you know to kind of nod across the diamond at each other. I think it’s going to be a really really fun game to watch. Two really good teams a meaningful game and two you know legendary pitchers. It’s all on the table tonight man in Dodger Stadium. One of the cathedrals of the game. I hope this Elks game ends early because I can’t wait to switch the channel over to that ball game. Yeah, I will touch on the Elks in a second. What do you make of the Jays in the series out in LA? What are your expectations for them? Like, well, listen, they’re they’re good, man. They’re good. Like, don’t tell me, oh, you know, the Dodgers are good. It’s hard to win. I don’t know. I don’t want to hear any of that garbage. The Jays are good. Jays are a top team in in Major League Baseball. They can go in there, win two out of three, and they should. Like, that’s what good teams do. So, we’re not, you know, we’ve got higher expectations for Toronto now than we used to have. And, uh, that’s fair. They’ve earned that right. If I, you know, it’s sort of the the Evan Buchard situation. The reason we hold his feet to the fire and expect excellent play all the time is because he’s a fantastic, unbelievably good player. So, you know, we don’t look at Brett Kulak and say, “Come on, man. Produce every night.” Because he’s Brett Kulak. He’s not Evan Mousard. So, the Toronto Blue Jays have earned that right. And with that right comes the pressure and the expectation to be good in a series like this. And I fully expect them to be. Mark Spectre joining us here on the Jason Greger show. Declan sitting and um Spec, you bring up Evan Buchard talk being a fantastically good oiler. I’m glad you did that. It’s a nice transition to one of the questions I had for you because this was a spirited debate between me and Low Tide on the lowdown and I want to get your take on it. I am very much of the opinion if Conor McD and I don’t mean to be all doom and gloom negative Nancy here on August 8th. I’m not trying to do that, but it is a question I wanted to ask. I’m very much of the opinion if Conor McDavid never wins a Stanley Cup, his career is 100% a failure. They will not talk about all the hearts he’s won or the Art Rosses he’s won or the points he’s put up. He is in a group of a very select few amount of guys in NHL history, six guys by my estimation. And if he never wins a cup in 15, 20, 25, 30, whatever the number is, the conversation won’t be about his individual accolades. It’ll be about how good this guy was and the fact he never won a cup. Do you come out the same way? Do you feel the way I feel? Or are you more on low tide’s train of thought that he’s this great individual player and that’s what he is? Well, I think you’re both right. He’ll always listen Conor McDavid because his numbers by the time he’s done his numbers are going to be at the very top of the ladder in in every category. There’s there’s going to be no if you’re a guy that says, “Yeah, he wasn’t a good player because he never won a cup.” That will brand you an idiot. Right. Right. But there’s a difference. Right. But if you don’t win a cup, there’s a butt. All the guys you’re in the in the pool with here, Gretzky won a cup, Lemieux won cups, you know, Gretzky won cups, Sid Crosby won cups, Rocket Rashard won cups, uh, you know who, like, who are the guys that you’re up there with, right? All the very best players in the history of hockey, they all won cups. Yeah. Like I look at it, I have, you know, Gretzky, he won it by year five. Crosby, how or they won it by year four. Lemieux won it by year seven. I don’t put Obie in that convo, but he would be the outlier. He won it so much later in year 14 or whatever it was. Like, you’re already a little behind schedule to not get one at all when you’re in that conversation with those guys. Like, that’s a huge detriment to your career as a whole. Listen, I’m going to say this. No one’s going to care when it’s over when he won cups. They’re only going to care that he won cups. No one’s going to say, “Ah, he took longer than that guy.” Ah, who cares? I don’t care. But I And if Conor McDavid was with us, and I know I think I know him well enough to say this. If he was in this conversation, he would say the same thing. I got to win a cup to be considered up with all those names that we just named. He would agree with that. But don’t tell me that because he hasn’t won one yet, he’ll never be he can’t he can’t win a couple cups and be in that group. That I don’t care when he wins. He’s just But he does have to win them. There’s no, you know, that argument is fair, man. That argument is fair. What about how come when we come in here? He never has anything to say. We’re like, what are you doing? Are you cinnamon buns? No, I’m right. Well, I did have one earlier if truth be told on behalf of Connor and possibly Lauren McDavid. He is going to win a cup, Declan. I don’t like all this sass. I agree. I agree. 510 on a Friday. 100% failure. Who assigns this percentage? Me. I agree. He is not a Stanley Cup. his destiny is to be up there with those other great names and probably surpass a couple of them in terms of all-time hockey echelon. But if he doesn’t, which I again I don’t think it’s going to happen. I think he wins. I think he wins here in Edmonton. But if he doesn’t, that is a huge black mark on a incredible player. Going to chill. Geez Louise. I said I didn’t want to be negative Nancy. Doom and gloom. Well, a little bit. It was an interesting question. Uh Spec, sorry, I stole your question. You had something. Oh, I did have a question for you, Spec. Did you see the photo that Leon Dryidle himself shared from his wedding of him smoking? I love that photo, man. I love it. And kids at work are like, “Oh my goodness, look how unhealthy he is.” And I’m like, man, I don’t mean to be the bearer of bad news, but NHL players get up to some shenanigans when they’re off the ice, whether it’s in season, out of season. I’m just, you know, obviously everything stays in the vault. But like can you recall players doing things back in the day in ter that like if a personal trainer saw it in 2025 they would faint at the very sight of their health habits. Oh my god this segment isn’t long enough for make that list up. But I will tell you this Sergey Zubov smoked between periods for most of his career if not all. In in the triple overtime 1999 foot in the crease game right in Buffalo. He’s out there after the second overtime. He’s probably played like 78 minutes and he’s having a couple of darts before he goes out for the third overtime. And you know what else? Sergey Zubov would have been the best defenseman in the history of probably 20 out of 32 teams, right? Like Sergey Zubov was just this side of Nick Litstrom. That’s how good he was in my opinion. He smoked all the time. Gila Flur had a smoke all the time. The whole old Montreal Canadians team, they smoked all the time. I love it. I absolutely love that Leon Dry Saddle says, “Hey man, it’s my summer. I’m going to have a dart once in a while. I might have a drink, right? I might have a cold beer. I’m going to have some fun with my life. Everything I drink isn’t going to be green, right? I’m not going to bed by 10:30 every night. I I Leon Dryidle grows in my esteem with this whole thing. I think it’s awesome. And don’t worry about him being in shape and don’t worry about him not look at he’s a 50 goal 100 point man. What do you want more out of the guy? He’s the only 50 goal 100 point man every year in the league. He’s one of the great players. He wants to have a smoke at his wedding. My god. I’ll give you a lighter. I laughed when I looked at the photos back because I realized he threw himself under the bus. Right. That was the only photo he posted from his wedding, right? Like you gotta love the character that Leon Dryidle has turned into years born on. And he’s got a great personality. Like I know, listen, I’m one of the guys he spars with and he’s shut me down on plenty of occasions and me and him, we’ve had our back and forth, believe me. But I have total respect for a guy that’s not the same as everyone else. He’s not afraid to break convention a little bit. If he hears a dumb question, he calls it out. He hates losing, so he’s a pissy interview when they lose. I don’t care about any of that stuff, man. All I know is when the game starts and the big game shows up, who’s the guy that’s your best player in April, May, and June on a lot of nights, it’s Leon Dryettle. That’s the guy. Spec, you might have mentioned this before, but just since the topic was brought up, have you had past Oilers who have been your favorite and least favorite to talk to after the game? Oh, every year for sure. All kinds of guys. Who this brings to mind? Oh my goodness. Some of the best guys ever to talk to after games. Um, oh my god, now we’re going way back. I used to love an old defenseman named Dean Kennedy. You remember him? Of course. So, he’s an old farmer. Came out of Red Ver, Saskatchewan, and he had a way of explaining what was going on that was just straight and to the point. Um, who else? God, there’s a hundred guys. That’s why I can’t think of them. You know, there’s Listen, there’s just some guys that let you in a little bit. There’s some guys that that take you into a game and go, “Well, the reason we were all arguing at the bench is because of this.” And then there’s other guys that won’t tell you anything. You know, Evan Buchard’s a great kid. Like, he’s he’s he’s a you know, I like Evan Buchard. I don’t know how much he likes me. He’s just not he doesn’t let you in. As a reporter, he doesn’t let you in. uh Connor Brown or Corey Perry. Corey Perry, my goodness, you sit down next to Corey Perry, he fills your notebook in a heartbeat with experience. He’s been in cups, he’s been in Olympics. So, those are the guys we love. It’s not usually the best player who’s the best quote guys. It’s usually a support guy, but uh Oh, for sure. There’s a difference in that room. There’s go-to guys in certain situations. I’ve got to mention one more guy. They don’t get any better than Zack Heyman. He is both an excellent player and an excellent quote. Spec, when you’re in the offseason like this, like you’ve, you know, been doing this obviously for decades now. For me, like I’m a guy who, you know, I’m not 12 years old anymore, so summer’s cool, weather’s nice, but like there’s no NHL, there’s no NBA, there’s no NFL, there’s no college football. So, I’m a little these days I’m a little more keen for my Julies and my Augusts to end so we can get back to the season where you someone who you know you’ve been doing it so long like you no I’m going to appreciate my summer I’m going to appreciate the time at the lake this is a true vacation for me hey man life you know what do you live to work or work to live right so I this is what we know camp’s going to start on September 20 whatever the season’s going to start on Octo October 6 or seven or whatever. And the Oilers, the way I’m looking at them, they’re going to play deep into June. So, we know that for sure. So, if you can’t turn it off and take a little time in July and August, man, and not think about hockey and think about copy and think about angles and like that’s my life, you know? I file on Tuesday and the minute I close my laptop, I think, okay, what the hell am I writing Wednesday? Right? If I can’t put that stuff down, I’m going to be a basket case, boy. So, you gotta you gotta spread your way. You got to spread out. You can’t be a hockey person 20. I know a couple of those guys. They’re annoying as hell. All they want to do is talk hockey every day of the year. I’m never going to be that guy. I feel like it’s a bad time to mention the other day I was watching the raw footage of interviews from the Cup Run about a week ago. Look at Zack Hman. What a guy. Look at those insights. So, what did you see? What stood out to you in those raw in that raw footage? Honestly, Spec, the toll it takes on these guys, I honestly don’t think as the casual fan, we give enough credence to injury, right? And like you look at a team and like the game four effort just wasn’t there or whatever people are mad about. When you look at these guys and you go back now and you’re out of it, right? and you had a little bit of time to put between you and the those games. They just look really tired to me and they look like they’re nursing injuries and the big puffy beards they all roll out in the cup finals don’t always hide the hollow eyes, right? And two years ago in the cup finals, I thought at the time like Connor being potentially injured and Leon being potentially injured probably was the biggest unadressed storyline of the finals because they weren’t the same guys they had been in the conference finals or earlier in the year. So, when I look now back at those postgame interviews, I just look like it’s guys fighting injury and guys fighting real deep fatigue. Yep. It’s it’s there’s two things for me. I wish that they would tell us about everyone’s injuries even if we weren’t allowed to report it because that would allow me to differentiate from a guy who’s just not producing to a guy who just can’t produce. Right? oftentimes there’s an injured player who’s not playing very well, but they keep it so quiet and I I don’t go in the dressing room when guys are taped up and when they’re, you know, so we have no way of knowing. So, in the playoffs, and you guys should know this, you got to be really careful how hard you criticize a player because he could be playing with a busted hand like Ryan Nen Hopkins in the final last year. So, they keep a secret spec because they don’t want the other team to key in on the injury. Yeah, that’s it. They don’t want me to know because I’ll report it and then the other team will know. So, I understand that. I don’t I harbor no grudge. But what my biggest like if you guys knew how many times I texted a coach or a GM or or asked a player off the record, this is what I think. Tell me if I’m wrong or barking up the wrong tree and they’ll say, “No, no, you’re going the right direction or don’t go there because you’re wrong.” I don’t quote anybody, right? I don’t tell you that. Stan Bowman told me, “No, no, you’re not barking up the right tree at all. You’re going the wrong direction.” But my point is this. If if I knew that Ryan Newton Hopkins had a busted hand, I don’t have to report it, but I sure would feel better knowing that that’s why he’s not productive, right? Yeah. You know, that’s And I think fans out there, like everyone just wants their team to win. And when NG goes four games and gets nothing done, they get mad, they get sour, they start carving them. And I want to say folks, he’s got a broken hand, right? Give him a break. Whenever a team’s eliminated from the playoffs, it’s always mind-blowing when they finally release the medical report. That’s true, right? And they’re like, “Oh, it turned out that guy had three broken legs. Four broken arms. He’s a medical marvel.” Well, I mean, look at two years ago, nurse played with whatever was wrong with his hip. Like, he had like a a torn hip labum. like, oh my god, you know, and he played pretty good, right? Played pretty well. Darnell Nurse speaking to us, someone was talking about Hamilton. I think it was SJ and Hamilton. Uh, and they said, we don’t know many Hamilton Tigerat fans. Darnell Nurse is one of the biggest darn uh Hamilton Tigerat fans you’ll ever meet. So, if you ever want to talk, go to his locker. We’ll have to get him on a deal. Well, let’s let’s we’ll let you go here in a second. Spec Mark Spectre, by the way, joining us here for the GS construction spec report on the Jason Greger show. Elk’s about to kick off in 10 minutes or so here. I’m I I’ve flip-flopped on this a little bit, but I do think they’re better than their record indicates. That said, it’s pro sports. You’re one and six. Doesn’t always matter. What do you make of this game in Montreal tonight? You think they can win it? Like Montreal hasn’t looked great by my eyes for the past couple weeks. It played pretty well against Hamilton. And if they win this one, I mean, do we see a snowball effect against Toronto and Ottawa the next couple games? Oh, listen, man. Hold on a second here. Don’t be talking about two weeks from now. They got to win one game. Win one. Yeah, I know. It starts with one in one game in a row. Here’s what I got. Here’s what I got for you. The CFL for my my way of knowing the game. It’s about playmakers. It’s about It’s about guys who do things that are unexpected. It’s about a guy who shakes a tackle and turns a fiveyard gain into a 40 yard gain. It’s about an interception of which the Elks defensive back court doesn’t have a single one this season. Okay, we’re seven games in. They haven’t picked off a P. The only the only guys picked off a pass is Jake Serzna on a stupid batted ball defensive lineman play. So that is those guys aren’t making any plays. Okay. Uh I need a I need an offensive guy that makes a play that that again breaks a tackle, turns a 10 yard play into a 50 yard play. Somebody somebody knock a ball loose. Let’s see a fumble. Like my point is this. No one’s making any spectacular plays. No one’s making a special play. There’s no run backs for touchdowns. They’re just going out there and going through the motions. I know they’re trying. I’m not saying they’re not trying, but nothing special happens. So, until they win a turnover battle, until they sack quarterbacks like four, five, six times, until they knock some balls loose, they’re not beating anybody, it’s it’s time to be a little bit special here and quit being so damned average and make something happen. And if you do that, you’re going to win a football game. Spec, this has been awesome, man. Really appreciate it. Uh, I think we’re going to have to let you go now. Running a little bit late in the sign from the producer. Appreciate it. Uh, one final thing though. Head on over to Twitter. Give me that follow. Pretty sure I’m the only one here at Sports 1440 you don’t follow, so get on that. I didn’t want to bring it up, but since it’s out there, okay, Freddy, I’ll send you a follow, Freddy. Spec. Thank you so much. Appreciate it. All right. All right. That was Mark Spectre, GS Construction spec report here on the Jason Greger show. Good self-promotion, Declan. Well, you know, listen, it’s been it’s been a point of contention for me. He follows everyone else at the station. He’s been talking about this all week. I was going to bring it up in a different way. I was going to bring it up as a more I was going to phrase it more of more of a question, but I didn’t. I thought it might be a little too harsh. It might be a little too in-your-face got you journalism. To my knowledge, the question was a little bit better, a little bit lighter. The only person I’ve known to have blocked me on social, this isn’t a block, this is a nonfollow, was the series Oil Change. Oh, wow. because I used to make fun of it all the time. Well, come on. But it blocked me. You can’t get mad at that. Come on now. I uh I was blocked by someone. It It was like a meme account. I went to like cuz it someone there was like someone had quote tweeted this meme account, but it was the quote tweet said, “You’ve been blocked by this user.” So, I went to like find out who it was and it was just some big like random meme page. And I was like, “Why would they have me blocked?” What did you do? I don’t know. I don’t know. I maybe I stole their joke. Or maybe they stole my joke and they didn’t they didn’t want me to ever find out and give me the credit. A lot of options. A lot of options. All right, we got We I guess we got to take a break. I know it was a bit of a runaround whether we were going to be doing this or not, but we uh we appreciate you being here. What does your Friday afternoon at 5:30 look like? Well, right now I’m watching uh the Angels against the uh Tigers. Terco, the best pitcher in baseball, getting hit around a little bit by uh the Angels. I mean, it’s one one run, but no big deal. And the Elks game is coming up in two shakes of a lamb’s tail. Uh, I do have there’s a a bottle of Crown Royal to my left, and there’s some ginger ale in the fridge to my right. I have not done that yet, but that it’s calling me as is the ice. So, we’ll see. We’ll see how it goes. That’s what I was gearing up toward because I know you’re kind of a cra a a Crown and Ginger guy when Friday afternoon rolls around. Are are we strictly sticking to that or do you ever mix it up or is this just a don’t fix what’s not broken kind of thing? Well, I that’s what I would prefer. Uh now, uh uh Karen likes tequila shots, so I’ve been doing that a lot lately. The problem is tequila is undefeated. You know, going back to my early 20s, uh tequila is the the drink you have uh that you start out, you go, “Boy, that’s good. I like that.” And then pretty soon you’re dancing with a furnace and you don’t know it. It’s It’s kind of wild, you know. Yeah. Tequila is that rare drink that’s about 15 billion and0. Incredible incredible one run of winning credentials here. Yeah, absolutely. It’s uh So you gota I feel like you got to be prepared for that one. That’s that’s my feeling. LT, what’s the setup like when you’re watching sports because I know you’re a guy watches simultaneous sports and keeps an eye on a lot of things. Like, have you got your one main TV and like a laptop or a tablet open or have you got your phone with you or what’s your setup like when you sit down to watch sports? Well, here I’ve got I’ve got my my big big TV in front of me uh elevated and my dog is right next to me so that if I scare her, I I can, you know, uh revive her right away uh with my yelling. Uh, and then I’ve got my laptop open and it’s uh the MLB is running some uh live games uh today on Twitter, so I’m watching that a little bit. And uh like during hockey season, I’d be flipping back and forth with my channel changer. I know you guys all call it the wand or some other weird thing, but it’s a channel changer at my house. So, I would watch multiple uh events at the same time. And during hockey season, I mean, it gets a workout because I also would have on the laptop, I’d have the Bakersfield Condors on. I watch a lot of the AHL games. Do you write your articles, Magnificent Articles I should say, all at once or do you kind of have them like a word document open during the game? You’ll write down a few thoughts or how do you what’s your process for writing an article? During games, I never I don’t write uh but I do make notes and that I I always check natural static at the end of the game. I watch the games with the sound down and I do watch them uh like I watch I watch the game closely because I see it better if the sound isn’t down. The the announcers are fabulous but they end up for you know the wrong reason. And so when I’m watching the game I can sort of uh you know figure out exactly what’s going on. And then uh I write after the game is over uh for my athletic articles I would write like 200 words or so. The reason I do that, Wan, is so that I would know uh in my while I go to bed, I will think about what I’m going to write the next day to add on to the 200 words. It works for me. I don’t know why, but I, you know, it’s like I I I when I can put the template down on paper, then when I return to it the next day, I’ve got a million other ideas about where it wants to go. Alan Mitchell, host of the Lowdown with Low Tide here to on Sports Sports 1440 joining us. Low tide. Something that came up on our show today that we didn’t really elaborate on, but I planned to talk about today was during my declinations, I had my top five athletes on the hot seat going into next season. Brad is going to go in with Yes. And sorry, there was some audio coming in there. I wasn’t sure what was happening, but my point being Conor McDavid was on the list. You said you vehemently disagreed. We didn’t really talk about it that much. Why don’t you think he’s on the hot seat going into this season? Because I I think that that that the management is on the hot seat, and they have been forever. Uh this is a team if you look at uh let’s take Florida as an example. They had a really nice team when Bill Zto got there and he acquired three former Flames, uh, Kachuk, Reinhardt, and, uh, Bennett. And he added players who were either in their prime or about to enter their prime. And the Oilers over many years have have signed older free agents and traded draft picks at the deadline and basically have run this team like they’re they the only year they can win the Stanley Cup is the one that’s coming up. and Florida built a better mousetrap. So when we talk about, you know, the Edmonton Oilers versus the Florida Panthers, uh it the the the game itself uh has changed in front of the Edmonton Oilers where where there is more talent marbled through the Florida lineup than there is through the Edmonton lineup. Now, the Otters have great high-end talent, fantastic high-end talent. But on the goal that counted in the Stanley Cup final, game six, first goal, the line that was on the ice was Conor McDavid, Leon Dry Saddle, and Cory Perry. And the the Oilers when they have Cory Perry on the ice, lack of speed in his own zone, that that’s not a battle you’re going to win. Ekholm was injured. They didn’t really have anybody else who could play him. He sent an errand pass to Bousard also as we found out later a little bit banged up uh for the final and the Otis ends up getting a goal against that was huge. They they allowed another one later in the period. So I mean Conor McDavid might be under pressure but but there you know hockey as we talked about earlier today hockey isn’t baseball players in hockey can have an impact but there’s a lot about this Edmonson team that is imperfect. Now, I love the acquisition of Seavoi and Ike Howard, and I think Todd Coulson will play more. They need to get younger in important spots, and they are. I think Stan Bowman uh is is going to be a better general manager than Ken Holland. Not that Holland didn’t get them to the Stanley Cup. Finally, did, but I I think they got there and they were the team that looked old and tired. Florida looked like the team that was uh winning their second Stanley Cup in a row and was uh a good bet to to return. And I think the pressure should be on the Evanot’s management as opposed to their best hockey player. Load, I’m really glad glad you bring up Ike Howard and Matt Seavoy because it seems to me that there is a lot riding on the success of this Oilers season on those two ultra young players. Do you feel that that’s a little bit overblown? Do you think it’s unjust? Do you think it’s just the way it is, the way the team’s formatted? like where do you come out on those two players specifically and the success of the Oilers season that may be relying on their shoulders to a degree and just their stature to this point in their NHL careers? Well, the the the the key thing to remember about Seavoy and Howard is that that the Oers don’t have to use them. The they they have picked up, you know, Trent Frederick who can play on a skill line. They picked up Andrew Mania. Uh Zack Heyman should be healthy. They have Ryan Nan Hopkins. their skill lines. You know, I think there’s going to be some interesting mix and match on their skill lines. Now, the third line may be a problem in that Adam Henrique, if he doesn’t play leftwing and the McDavid line, uh he’s he’s not a fast player, and you might have to borrow Pod Coulson from the Dryidle line in order to make that line go. But the Seavoy, I think, is is I’m not saying he’s a lock. I I just don’t believe that. But he’s probably more likely uh to make the team than Ike Howard. They both might make the team, but I think that that uh Seavoy is is he’s got some AHL experience for a year. He’s got like four NHL games with the Otters. He played well with Dry Sidle. You can kind of cobble together a storyline that gets him there. The thing about Howard is a pure scorer. He’s a first shot scorer. So there’s less known about him, but if he develops any kind of chemistry at all with one of the big centers, then I think he’s going to be the guy who gets the push. I I think Bowman made a really good bet with Ike Howard. I just don’t know when he’s going to play. I think by the middle of the season, he’ll be playing a lot because he’s a good bet to score. They needed that that one thing. Uh and and Howard is not a you know, people are saying, “Well, he’s not a good defensive player.” That’s fine. They don’t they they don’t need him to be a great defensive player, but they need him to go to areas and score goals and to find uh quiet ice where he can shoot the puck from. And I think he’s going to be that player. So, I I don’t think there’s a lot of pressure, but I think there’s a lot of anticipation uh for both of these players, and they’re really good hockey players. LT, I’m thinking about getting an Iceman Calder 2026 lock tattoo and I’m just wondering if you think that’s a great idea or a really great idea. I think you always have great ideas. I just want to know because I thought I thought the first thing you’d do is get that white suit style that uh Howard had at the draft. I don’t know if you saw that. Of course I did. Of course. Oh my god, he looks like a rocker there. You know, with the NHL rescending their dress code before games, I think a guy like Ike Howard could really bring a lot of personality out uh before the games, I think people are going to like him. Whether or not he gets a shot this year, I think remains to be seen. But NHL players that have the ability to self-promote and be interesting, I think are few and far between. They are. And this guy’s got it in space. Highly confident. Uh and I I’ll be honest, I think it might rub people the wrong way, but I don’t care. the Otis could use a little swagger. Just so everybody remembers when they won their five Stanley Cups, they were like the fans were arrogant. That’s how much swagger the team had. So, I think that that uh Howard’s going to be an interesting player on and off the ice for Edmonton Honors fans. I hope they like him. Load, thank you so much for being here with us. So it’s it’s unsponsored. You can say whatever you want. I’ll throw Noodle. Normally you have to Well, always sponsored by U Noodle. I went to Noodle the other day and got the combo box. Talk to me. The portion size is so perfect. Like you never like there are sometimes you go out for food and you leave thinking like that was good, but boy am I still hungry. I’ve never had that with Noodle. We try our best to give a fair portion at a fair price. And here’s the other thing. I get it with no shrimp. So, I’m feeling I’m just not a big shrimp guy. Okay. Fair. So, I’m feeling like maybe they’re throwing a little extra beef and chicken in there for me. You know what I mean? Like they’re sweetening up the pot a little bit. You got to a little bit. But it’s always so hot, too, cuz I take it out of the box, put it on the plate. Sure. It’s like it feels like I cooked it myself in a walk at home. Did you know that the box turns into a plate? Yeah. Yeah. Of course. That’s the whole thing with like with Chinese food takeout boxes, right? Like that’s the whole idea of them. The whole reason that their ood noodle exists was my buddy and I went to New York expecting to find Chinese food in boxes like oodle noodle comes in, right? And we got there and we went to a Chinese food restaurant. We’re like, hey, styrofoam and they gave it like a circular dish with a tin foil lid and we’re like this is not what we were promised on television. The ind indignation of you can’t get that kind of food is why noodle exists. It is a really big like there’s a legitimate pop culture phenomenon of those Chinese takeout boxes and to not have it like when you order Chinese food or Asian food whatever it may be it is a little it’s like it takes away from the experience there’s truthfully something to be said for that but I puzzled over this for I mean we started the company up in ‘ 06 we got involved in ’09 but like I would sit and like look like there’s emoji sets for those Chinese takeout boxes yet no restaurants serve food in them did You did you work backwards from the box? You were like, “Yeah, let’s start with the box.” And they’re like, “What goes in it?” Probably we just got to figure it out. 20 out of 32. We have 18 locations in his wedding of him. Is that how many there are? Do you have a favorite location? Like one that’s your baby? It was the first one. The OG White that we aren’t involved in, but it was the original. The one by the by the um it’s on the west side of White by the church. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That’s the original. I’ve been there obviously. I’ve been I would assume I’ve been to like a good fair few of them. Respect. Yeah. Yeah. I like I love Asian cuisine. Respect to you, sir. Yeah. Appreciate it. Hey, so Oh, yeah. So, it’s like a conversation piece, but like Shadur Sanders in Cleveland is going to be playing tonight. Yes. And playing right now. Playing right now. Yeah. The game’s the game started. Going. I legitimately wonder how it’s going. People don’t like Nepo baby storylines. I do. I own a Bronny James jersey. I want to see Shadur thrive. I don’t want to see him go to Cleveland and have it all come down. The QB room is full, Declan, in Cleveland, as we know. I’m wondering what you think is going to happen to Shadur Sanders career. Seven nothing Panthers. How many touchdowns does Shadur have? Zero. But through a quarter, five for 10 for 33 yards. Is that good? I don’t know. They have the ball inside the 10 after Carolina Muff punts to I assume start the second quarter. Uh five for 10 for 33 yards. It’s not great. You want your completion percentage up around 65 at least kind of. Uh it’s a it’s a limited sample size. I just waved at the Elks game and said, “Can you put Shador on?” But I recognize almost had a great tackle, but as is akin to the Elks this season. It was missed and it went for about an eight yard Montreal game. Did I just see a guy on Montreal named Rambo? Oh yeah. Is that real? One of their slots. Yeah. He’s a good He’s a good receiver too. He’s got good East West movement. It’s his real name. Or is this one of these like stop like he hate me type situations? No, these are real name. But we know this in the XFL here. This is the big time. This is serious. Is the XFL still playing with the UFFL this year? I don’t really know what their deal is. I feel like every year it’s kind of a one-off thing and then we maybe wait for the next year. I I honestly don’t know. And it’s a really devout football. Like I love football. You would think I would be more into it, but it’s just the league has way too much turnover all those leagues. And they have too much weird financial kind of things that it’s just it’s hard to follow and hard to track. When The Rock came out to kick off the first game with the new rebooted XFL, I was like, “The Rock don’t miss. Rock don’t miss. This is going to happen.” He missed on this one maybe. Yeah, I think so. It’s also like Americans love their football. Like love their football, you know, same way we do with hockey. Like there you would think and their season’s so short, right? It’s obviously a 17g game season and playoffs runs from about September through February. But you would think there’s a significant market for viewership for the spring. Totally. And how many players are coming out of college? Because here’s the other thing, like CFL numbers do very well in in America. They do. They do, I mean, very well, might be generous, but they do well. Like, they do probably better than you would expect here as a Canadian when they get played on CBS and CBS Sports and stuff like that. Um, but that doesn’t start until June, right? So, there’s still like there’s enough time to run a season from like March through July or something, even if you’re in a condensed day game. So, that that’s why I’m surprised the league didn’t hasn’t taken off more. Like, Americans love their football so much. There is prime real estate there in terms of of months where you can be having a season. I was blown away recently. We’ll say in the last three years. I did not know how big college sports were. Yeah. And I did not bigger than the NFL arguably. I didn’t realize there was a shadow NFL and a shadow NBA. I did not realize seven of the top 10 stadiums in the world are built for college football. They That is a true That is true. That is in seven of the world’s 10 biggest stadiums are college football stadiums in America. I couldn’t believe it when I found that out. I had to run it past Chad GPT thrice just to confirm. But the fact that the amount of players just falls off to the degree between college and NFL, XFL, NFL, UK, what other leagues when you said all those? I mean like USFL was one of them. Did they merge with the XFL though? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But like back in the day and then IFL like indoor football league, the Arena Football, that was another one. There were a lot of options that couldn’t hold water. Why wouldn’t the NFL want to roll out its own AHL and own all those teams, too? Like why I recently saw um Goodell say that his competition is the uh Apple and Google. I will remind you the NFL is registered as a not for profofit. Right. When I look at that is true. Roger Goodell reckless. 40 million a year in salary. Failed son of a US senator. How come they don’t want a secondary development league just to keep more players in reserve? Like I wonder what the business logic is. Yeah. I don’t know. I like a big thing for me I think is you couldn’t run it at the same time as the NFL. Why? Like you just couldn’t because even in like for for the AHL for example like a Bakersfield like you may still find people in Bakersfield who are willing to go to like a Bakersfield Condor game. If you’re still playing the if you’re playing these these um whatever the the league would be like the AFL we’ll call it just for if you’re playing those games those fans all still like the NFL and football is so bred into you from a young age that you like have a team that you’re going to go watch regardless and you can’t do it Sunday because that’s the NFL. You can’t do it Saturday because that’s college football. You can’t do it Friday because that’s high school football. then it becomes an issue of putting it on the week and it’s really tough to have it have a 32 32 teams play on a weekday. You know what I mean? Sir, the Savannah Bananas just performed to bigger crowds than Prince when he used to world tour. But that’s an incredible niche. I just think that sports are evolving for sure and I think that live sports in particular has been in decline for a while. Television rankings or or ratings rather are way up. But I think people are wanting to go outdoors again. I think that’s an interesting phenomenon. I think the Savannah Bananas are tapping into that. The people want to be a part of in-person events and stuff like that. I get your point that the you could go to the um California Angels stadium or Angels at Anaheim, whatever they call themselves. They have Mike Trout and they can’t draw flies and then a guy comes in a yellow tuxedo and it’s full. Times are changing. For sure. There’s somebody who said, but then I guess like the the argument would be so like do you immediately move it from a developmental league to like a niche entertainment kind of event? I think the best league you could do was because that doesn’t that’s not really the NFL’s model. You need to work in harmony with the NFL. I think it’s going to work. Yeah. Like if something like this coming down from the NFL, but I just I I think it like scheduling for me would be the biggest one. Also, like I the a big reason college football is so popular and I think some of these other leagues have failed. And I do still think it’s crazy with how much they love their football. But I think a big reason is it is, you know, clearly subpar football. college is a little bit different because obviously it’s not as good as the NFL or the CFL but college like college the college experience in America is different right than Canada and it’s where you really you know form who you become as a person and that’s why they hold you know such a tight uh kinship to it and that’s why you see boosters giving $12 million to Michigan so Bryce Underwood can come play there you know what I mean like it may be less quality of football but there’s a personal attachment to it there wouldn’t be a personal attachment to one of these developmental teams I don’t think I think that you can build fans. I think look at the MLS. I’m blown away at how quickly the MLS has established itself in this current incarnation cuz it struggled prior. People in cities I would not expect to be that full full people make new traditions for themselves when it’s done properly. But then there is also some to be said for like the newness of something that is the Savannah Bananas or the MLS versus something that’s a little more institutional like a you know AHL equivalent of the NFL. I don’t like I just I find like I think it would be a tough sell to a lot of people. But I but this is the one thing I would say if you don’t run it concurrent with the NFL, if you run it um like after or before then I think it would carry a lot more weight. I just think that like given the amount of quality football players that play in college, you have more than enough of a pool of players to draw from to roll out additional teams if you were so inclined. But that took us back from Shadore, right? Let’s get back to the beginning. It’s all about the Sanders boys. What do you think’s going to happen with his career? Well, Shador was really good in college. like he was. And I’m saying that as a guy who watched I, you know, not bragging here, um, because who cares, but I I gotta like I probably watched more CU Buffs games the p the past two years than anyone in Edmonton, honestly. Well, I just love college football, man. I sit on my couch from 10:00 a.m. until midnight every Saturday from September to January watching college football. It’s like my favorite thing in the world. It’s my time to be with myself. They got a lot of prime time. I’m I’m multiple TV in it, too. So, like I watched Shidor Sanders in Colorado enough to know that he was a good quarterback. He had a really good touch on his ball. He could put the ball in windows. It took for the draft to me to think that maybe one, he wasn’t as good as I thought he was, but two, I wonder if it was some element of collusion from the owners because it was Cleveland’s owner who came out and said he wasn’t planning to draft him. It was the GM who went ahead and did it. He didn’t. This is what I think. He didn’t want to be the guy who broke, who deviated from the other 31 owners in the NFL. I think it was a thing to keep him out of the league and I don’t think it has anything to do with his talent. Now, that said, he’s obviously operating with a tremendous chip on his shoulder and if he was so undeniable, he would have been drafted anyway. So, clearly, he wasn’t as good as I thought he was watching all those games. But, I still think he’s a good quarterback with a lot of talent. And I’m very interested to see how his career can kind of ascend. If you have the presence of mind to get a graphic designer to design your own symbol and it’s a dollar sign and a squared symbol, you’re going places in this life, Declan. Oh, Entourage just texted in. He said, “Did you just say college football isn’t as good as the CFL? That’s rich. Lol. I wish the music wasn’t playing cuz there’s so much to be said about this.” You’re dead wrong, obviously. Go listen to episode one of Alex 101 with myself and Netty Steel, please. And also, Entourage, enjoy your weekend. Okay, we got to wrap this one up. Music’s playing. I’m so far. I can’t believe you got that text when the music was playing. I w Oh, I wish we got that earlier. Anyway, uh this sports 1440 update brought to you by Legacy Heating and Cooling, home of the no payments, no interest for one year.
