Talking about this Trey Young stuff for a little bit of time now. I’ll bring up some of what y’all had to say about it during this show. But Stephen, how you how you doing? It’s been a busy week. Been a very busy week. Um so busy that Wednesday felt like I don’t even know what day. I was very confused. I’m hardly confused on my day. So, um, happy that the week is coming to an end. Um, but we got some fun things to talk about today on on this episode for sure. Yeah, you and I did about 15 minutes on the Flex’s reporting on the Trey Young situation being one to monitor and I highly encourage people to check that out. We’re not going to do as much overlapping. Of course, there’ll be a little bit here, but we’ve got eight trades to bring to you today and they progressively get uh a little crazier because the Suns do not have any first round picks that they can deal with with deal with with the Steppion rule. So, there’s going to have to be some talent going out to get Trey Young. But, let’s talk about Trey Young first. Stephen, is Trey Young a name, a player, you know, an archetype that in in general, not considering what you’d have to give up to get him, if Atlanta would consider the Suns package or anything like that, that Phoenix should be monitoring and trying to pair next to Devin Booker, that type of player in Trey Young. I wouldn’t be mad at it. I’ve been very much on the side of the Suns don’t need a point guard because Devin Booker and other players that he spent time with the last couple of seasons could assume that that role. Um the structuring of that was not where it needed to be to make that conducive to a winning environment. There are exceptions to that, however, and for for the reasons I was okay with them bringing in a Chris Paul, you get a more primed Trey Young in that kind of template for for a front court or a back court rather with Devin Booker that I feel like would allow for you to still get the Devin Booker goods from point Book when Trey is not on the court, but you shape shift. You take on two different forms essentially. You get the you get the pick and roll super heavy Trey Young orchestrating as the engine of an offense and involving players in different ways and then you shape shift into something different that requires different coverages if Deon Booker has it. That type of dynamic I feel like would be a great benefit to the Suns in addition to Trey’s shot profile. Okay. I think offensively Trey Young next to Devin Booker it would be the most electric back in the league. It would be a ton of fun. We’re going to break down Trey’s offensive game and we you have some stats that we’ll share with everybody, but I I think we need to address the elephant in the room that is Trey Young’s defense because we’ll get to the offense, his passing, his stats here in a second. Trey Young as a defender, Stephen, now technically had a better defensive rating than Deon Booker last year, which is not great. Uh, but do you think a defensive backcourt of Trey Young and Devin Booker could be sustainable for a team like let like if you’re trading for Trey Young, you’re trying to win a championship, right? You’re trading for an all-star caliber player. Is that a back court whose defensive ceiling is high enough and whose defensive floor is high enough to compete for a championship? It’s not. But the trade-off is obviously putting the ball in the basket and being able to put pressure on opponents with the threats that your offense can pose to them. In addition to that, there are ways that you can project or protect rather and insulate a Booker and a Trey Young back court. Now, naturally on the the the supplemental video we did, I mentioned the Jordan in it all, which I’ll get back to a little bit later, but you need rim protection and you need sustained, taller, more versatile, more bigger type of defenders to where you can not have Trey and Devin Booker involved at least immediately directly in actions. There’s ways you can go around insulating those guys, but they have to be better defensively for any of that to work. So, I think if you go about that, you roll that dice, you have to be surefire that you’re going to get the most out of those two defensively. And to that point, Trey is smaller, dimminionative as a guard, if you will. Very good hands, a very smart basketball player. He has shortcomings on the physical side, but on the effort side, I know they have the clip about that that was going around in the playoffs of what looked like him just giving up at a crucial point of a game. However, he’s averaging like almost two steals a game over the course of his career. And it’s not to say that steals are end all beall for a good defender or not, but he’s a player that plays with a certain type of activity that you can get something out of, no different than Jordan company did with Darius Garland last season. Would you say it’s fair to say that Trey Young’s defense has improved since he entered the league? And would you say it’s fair to call him an engaged and active defender on most nights? Mhm. He’s Trey is no different than Steph in multiple respects on the defensive end. Steph is a little bit taller, but stature wise they’re pretty much relatively the same. Both have underratedly quick hands that allow for them to make some things happen with activity, but yes, and both are smart, obviously, too. I think with Trey Young, it’s a it’s a philosophy thing because we’re going to go through eight different packages and progressively I’m going to have the Suns I came up with all these trades. I’m gonna have the Suns giving up a little bit more and more and more as you go down because the Suns don’t have a first round pick to send out there. I don’t think that just a couple players in a second round pick is going to get the job done for Atlanta when other teams like a Boston or an Orlando or a Miami could swoop in or a Houston could swoop in, which sucks, could swoop in and and trade for Trey Young. Yep. But from a philosophy standpoint as far as the Suns right now are reloading, not rebuilding, you know, they’re kind of in this in between phase. Steven is giving up potentially some of your young pieces and some young pieces that people are going to be mad that I included in this trade. Mhm. Is that from a philosophy standpoint as a franchise right now worth it? Not saying Trey Young’s a bad player, but to build a team that you and I both believe defensively probably doesn’t have that ceiling to be a true contender. I answer the question with a question of my own and that is with the Booker extension, do you feel like the Suns owe it to Devin Booker to spend the least amount of time that they possibly can in this retool rebuild phase and get back to not just trying to scrap into the playoffs or playing race, but be firmly entrenched in it. I think they owe it to Devin Booker to build the best team possible. Mhm. And sometimes that doesn’t mean pressing fast forward at every single moment, right? Yes. Would Trey Young be the the the second best player on the team and would be a better player than Jaylen Green? Yes. Would he be a better fit offensively than Jaylen Green? Yes. Could you build a team around Trey Young and Devin Booker easier than you could build a team around Jaylen Green and Deon Booker? Yes. That being said, are you accelerating and giving up what little assets you have left because they’re going to have to part with somebody, right? To accelerate this and not get to the heights that you need to because I don’t see Jaylen Green as a part of this team for the next five years, right? And I think that this situation, this Trey Young Jaylen Green trade is not something that would happen now. This is something I think when we get to the trade deadline, Atlanta’s going to give it a shot. Suns are going to give it a shot to bump up Jaylen Green’s value and then we’re going to revisit this conversation in February. The Suns owe it to Devin Booker to try to win a championship. That doesn’t always mean trying to put all of your chips to the center of the table at every possible moment, right? So maybe it would make them better in the short term, but by the end of that extension that Deon Booker just signed, would they have the ceiling that they could hit to reach championship? I think that’s the legitimate real hard-hitting question that comes with pressing this button for Trey Young. I guess to answer my own question, they owe it to him. Yes. But the context has to make sense. So if you do this, you’re going to be giving up some of the assets that you do have because you don’t have that’s to make up for the assets that you literally just don’t have in terms of draft pick compensation. So you brought up a point about is it going to put you in the kind or closer to win now than you are without it. Yes, you would be there, but I think the repercussions might be a little too loud on it. You have to have a firmly entrenched plan to okay, we do this, we have to part with X, Y, and Z. Not you’re not going to recoup those X, Y, and Z pieces you gave up, but you have to find ways to kind of insulate your roster the rest of the way to make it all make sense, right? So, I get the I get the uh cause for pause with people in the chat and anybody else that’s been kind of talking about this lately. Now, maybe we go into this season and let’s just kind of walk down this path and play a little devil’s little devil’s advocate because I think you and I are kind of sitting on the same page with this. Let’s say that Jordan finds a way defensively to make it work with Jaylen Green and Deon Booker. Now, Jaylen Green physically has much better tools for defense than Devin Booker, but not a good defender right now. And Devin Booker had the worst defensive season of his career. Okay, let’s say Jordan finds a way to make that offense and that defense click and the Suns are better than expected but not great, right? And you can see the vision of him working with two offensive oriented guards because you saw it with the Cavs, Garland and Mitchell, then with a 70% of a season, 65% of a season up to the All-Star break with Green and Booker. If you’re the Suns front office and you’re saying, “Well, we like what we’ve seen with Green and Booker. It’s clear that having two shooting guards is not a sustainable build for this team. Trey Young’s maybe his value has gone down. Maybe he wants to play in Phoenix. Maybe he forces his way here and we can get him for okay value. We’re going to give up something but not five first round picks because we don’t have that to trade. Mhm. You can talk yourself into building a hyperoffensive oriented team with Trey Young as your two hoping he can improve a little on defense and revisiting this we’re going to score 130 points per game but a better fit in that back court than Bradley Beal and Devin Booker. Like you would have the best passing back court in the NBA with Trey Young and Devin Booker. If Book works on his pull-up threes, you’d have one of the best three-point shooting back courts in the NBA. You’d have one of the best ball handling back courts in the NBA. One of the best pick and roll and pick and pop threats at the one and the two in the NBA. And if you say that’s our identity, that’s more buildable than Jaylen Green and Devin Booker, then I can see that being a path that the Suns do explore. Yeah. Issue comes for me though, which we’ll dive into when we get to looking at the um when we get to looking at the trade prospects in terms of trade templates we’re looking at there. You have to have you have to have certain types of fives with Trey Young to make that to get the most out of it. He’s gonna make it work. He’s no different than like a Chris Paul or Steve Nash where he can just he can run pick and roll with anybody and make it a positive in terms of points per possession. But to get the absolute most out of it, you need some variance there. And I don’t know if the Suns court will have it to the extent that they would maybe hope to after partnering with what they need to to even get him in house and um to begin with. Yeah. I mean, and that’s and that’s also the thing at the end of the day. Trey Young has to want to come here, and the Atlanta Hawks have to want what the Suns are offering. So, what could the Suns offer? We have eight trades that they could make that work technically. We’ll let you decide whether or not that is realistic here. Hit that like button, hit that subscribe button. Uh anyway, let’s get to trade machine Sunday for everybody here. Uh first trade I I want to just put a dis disclaimer out there. Uh almost all of these trades, I think all but one will involve Jaylen Green. Now, I would hesitate obviously to say the Suns would be looking to trade Jaylen Green right now. That being said, Stephen, like I mentioned, I don’t see Jaylen Green as like a a next fiveyear building block for this team. Do you? I do not. Um, this feels like a temporary temporary landing spot for for for Jaylen Green to kind of um basically test his test the waters in a new situation. I think that’s the positive and the benefit of him being next to Devin Booker and having someone the likes of Booker in the back court with him u because that allows him to kind of rebuild his value, see what his true limits are and kind of work on some of the areas around the edges that he needs to improve on. All right, so this is what some of these trades can look like. Let’s start with some lower value ones and then move up from there. These ones are a little unrealistic, but they work. So, let’s go through trade number one. The Suns get Trey Young. The Hawks receive Jaylen Green, Royce O’Neal, and they also receive in that a 2026 second round pick. That is the Denver second round pick number 31 through 60. Stephen, it’s fair to say that Jaylen Green, Royce O’Neal, and a second round pick is not something that you could imagine the Hawks accepting for Trey Young. Not at all. Not even a little bit. What if they’re really high on Jaylen Green? Like, if they if they identify Jaylen Green as a piece that they want. Mhm. Is Royce O’Neal in a second round pick still enough to outdo what some of these other teams have to offer? Nope. for the things that we detailed in our supplemental video um that went up yesterday. Absolutely not. Okay, so let’s bump it up a little bit. All right, let’s keep that second round pick and let’s keep Jaylen Green. Let’s swap out Royce O’Neal for Grayson Allen. Still those two players 2026 second round pick via Denver for Trey Young. Better but enough to entice the Atlanta Hawks. I think it’s a conversation starter. You think that’s Do you think the difference between Royce and Grayson is enough for them to at least be relatively interested? Because I think I think Quinn Snder and that roster needs a little bit more shooting that’s more playable. They have some pieces that can shoot, but can they be minute getters in a main rotation for a team that’s trying to do something with the playoffs or in the playoff realm? Someone like Grayson might help them more than some of the pieces that they already have. Well, and you this is a team that just spent money on Luke Canard, who is not as good of a player as Grayson Allen right now. And they know they know that they need shooting, right? Especially if you’re going to employ your lineup of Dyson Daniels, Jaylen Johnson, Zachary Reach. I mean, Porzingis obviously is the first stretch big that they’ve had in the Trey Young era. Uh they’ve lost Clint Capella. They’re still sticking with Inca Kongwu. like they they need shooting. Every NBA team needs shooting, but especially these wing heavy defensive heavy teams. But at the end of the day, Stephen, like you and I on the on the trending mini pod talked about what the Celtics could could offer, right? What Orlando could offer, what Houston could offer. And we’re talking multiple first round picks. If you’re Atlanta, are you trying to make a trade to win now and get the best players you can get now? or if you’re trading Trey Young, are you from their front office perspective trying to accumulate first round draft capital like they did from the New Orleans Pelicans in this year’s draft? Yeah, that’s the that’s the crossroads at that point and I think they will have some decisions to make. Um it’s just such a weird situation because the other part of the context is if the Suns do this trade, you have to pay trade. The only reason you have an opportunity to potentially get in on a conversation with him is because him and the Hawks haven’t met at a crossroads and met in the middle on the on the deal under contract for two more years after this season, but we know how this is an extension league now. Big guys don’t really hit free agency as much. They want to be at a team that’s going to extend them and secure them at a max contract, which is a whole other argument to all of this as well. But even, you know, Jaylen Green, he’s on a four-year extension, but he’s going to want to get paid. Every every player of that level is going to want a max contract. You’re going to need to be able to commit that much money to Trey Young, who’s later in his career, has more accolades, and and would be physically able to get a higher max. Mhm. That’s true. And Booker’s contract goes through the 2030 season with the extension. He uh I think it ends 2029. 29. Okay. Yeah. So you would want to fasttrack Trey’s contract to match it in some respect if you were to bring him in after this year with the two years that would be he would end in 2028 in 2028 season. So it’s like it’s pretty similar if you extend Trey Young. It’s going be it is going beyond you’re not going to get him on a one-year extension. It’s gonna be going beyond when Deon Booker is signed with this team, which technically could be a contingency plan because Trey Young is younger and you can build a team around Trey Young technically speaking, although we all want Devin Booker at least to be here in knowing that he could hopefully maintain a similar level of play beyond that 2029 season. So, okay, conversation starter, Stephen, sounds good. Yep. What about instead of Grayson Allen, it’s Jaylen Green, the 2026 second round pick, and he just can’t leave without Dylan Brooks. So, it’s the Rockets package, Dylan Brooks, Jaylen Green, 2026 second round pick. Is this more enticing to Atlanta or less enticing? Cuz let’s just say this straight up. Do you think Dylan Brooks is a better player than Grayson Allen right now? Yes. But for the Atlanta Hawks and the archetypes that they’re heavy in, the names that we mentioned earlier in this show, is Dylan Brooks a better fit for them at his price of 21 million than Grayson Allen is at his 16 million with three more years of control? No, Grayson is the better fit for what the Hawks are, at least what it seems like they’re working to establish and what they have on their roster at this moment. So, it would be more so Grayson than Dylan. But the other part is whose contract might get them more if they decide to flip it soon. And I think that’s something relevant to mention with it too. Yeah. And maybe Dylan Brooks is that guy. Grayson Allen with three years of control. If Grayson Allen has a quote unquote bounceback season this year and goes back to shooting like the best three-point percentage in the NBA on a high volume, he’s going to be wanted by a lot of teams at the deadline, especially because he is under control. But Dylan Brooks still under control for two more years after this one at about 20-ish million per year. I think he actually has a somewhat declining or steady contract, which is pretty rare in the league cuz he’s making 21 this year and then has two more years of $41 million. Um, so not like massively declining or, you know, going up, which is nice. Uh, I said there’s one trade that doesn’t have Jaylen Green. Mhm. And it’s this one. It’s the wings package. It’s the Hawks love wings down in Magic City. Dylan Brooks, Grayson Allen, and Royce O’Neal, and a second round pick for Trey Young. This is the worst package we’ve seen so far, right? Like, if you’re Atlanta, you want to take a swing on Jaylen Green, unless you’re trying to, I guess, save money and check contracts and move these guys eventually. Mhm. Yeah, I think Jaylen is the non-negotiable if you’re talking about Atlanta, whether it’s a three team three team construct or it’s just a two one and one. Um, I think Jaylen has to be involved for the conversation to even start. Yeah. Okay, those four trades are clearly not enough for the Atlanta Hawks to consider. Now, if the Suns had first round picks that they could include, yeah, maybe that would be different. So, Stephen, when you don’t have first round picks, how do you entice a team to trade you a superstar or a star allstar level player? Like we talked about earlier, you got to start gutting your assets. And for the Suns, their assets are young talent and young talent in the forms of rookies and sophomores. So, let’s start with a sophomore. Again, these are going to get progressively higher. Does a package of Jaylen Green, Dylan Brooks, who maybe goes to a third team, and Oso Igdaro along with a second round pick, if you’re Atlanta, are you starting to listen? Nope. Is it like how much how much of a sweetener for what they’re building is Oso Igodaro? Like what would you value them if you’re trying to build the type of team that they’re building in Atlanta? Well, that’s the thing. I think this is why this season is so important for Oso because also the Suns are trying to figure out what they can and can’t do and what his value is to their team. probably also trying to see what his value might be to other teams because like I mentioned a few weeks ago also is a piece that was picked for the Suns from a previous regime, another head coach, another coaching staff in general. Jordan N company might not necessarily value him in the ways that the previous regime did. So because of that I just don’t know. I just don’t know. It would have to be I don’t know if I don’t know if Atlanta would value them because they have a a front court that’s loaded with ready to play now talents for sure and talents that suggest they’re better than where OSO is right now too on the younger side of things. So I just don’t know how much sense it would make for him to go to Atlanta and how much they would even like that even though he is a younger piece. So, here’s the thing, and we all we all agree that this is a long shot, and what the Suns have to offer is not super enticing, and there’s going to be a lot of crossover with what the Hawks already have. But what I’m doing is I’m I’m I’m building us up there, right? The the last trade that we’re going to talk about is the only trade that I look at and I think to myself, the Hawks might do that. Like, I I I genuinely think that I have a trade here that the the Hawks would consider. That being said, it’s time to talk about my sweet baby boy, our prince, the guy, but we’re going to do it. Not right now. We’re going to do it after you hit the like button. We’re going to do it after you hit that subscribe button. We’re going to do it after you rate five star reviews on audio. And if you’re just an NBA fan and you love hoop, we’ve gotten a lot of good feedback, Stephen, about our show yesterday, uh, talking hoop, talking where does Devin Booker land and the the top 10, top 15 players of all time. Really good in-depth hoop conversation there. And, uh, would highly encourage you if you missed yesterday’s show or you’re not checking out every show to go and check that out. Stephen, these pained me to put together. They hurt. I didn’t like it. Trey Young to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for Jaylen Green, Royce O’Neal, Ryan Dunn, and a 2026 second round pick. Is this something that Atlanta could want? I think it’s more of a starter of a conversation than any of the other trades that we’ve proposed so far. Um, I’m not sure where they even find me. is for Ryan Dunn. He’s going to play if he goes there. But the fact that they have the pieces that they just added like Nil Alexander Walker being there in addition to Tyson Daniels already being there, Jaylen Johnson just now coming back from his injury that happened around the new year turn of the calendar last year. I don’t know, man. That would be a wild defense that they put together. You’re not scoring scoring 105 points on them. Dyson Daniels, Ryan Dunn, Jaylen Johnson, what the helloo if if Rach could take a little bit of a leap on that end, play some more minutes. Now, I think there is the overlap question here. And maybe Ryan Dunn is a piece that they try to reroute. Maybe Ry Royce O’Neal is a piece they try to reroute and get, you know, a first round pick or two for Ryan Dunn. maybe some more picks or a younger piece for Royce O’Neal while keeping Jaylen Green. And and if Jaylen Green is the point guard for this team this year, which we all have had that conversation at Nauseium since that report had been out there and he thrives much to what a lot of us would not expect. Well, then that getting your point guard and Jaylen Green and defender and Ryan Dunn and and maybe you do flip somebody else that’s in that wing, right? Maybe Reach isn’t stepping up the way that you want and you want to sell high on him before he kind of plateaus in his career. Maybe you’re worried about Jaylen Johnson’s injury status and whatnot. Having another wing and having a good POA defense wing is a luxury in the NBA. I think it’s the best deal, but I think this next one, Stephen, is better. Jaylen Green and Ryan Dunn in a 226 second round pick still on the board, but instead of Royce O’Neal, Grayson Allen into the fold. So, they get that shooting. Now, in return, the Suns would add another young guard. They would get Trey Young and they would get Kobe Buffkin, who has spent a lot of time in the GLeague for Atlanta, 22year-old guard. Is this realistic in your mind? I think it is because they have multiple pieces that could be integrated into their main rotation and kind of provide some value and some impact immediately. Um so I think this is more again we’re like you said we’re working towards the more realistic routes that the Suns can at least propose. Not saying that there’s going to be guaranteed that Atlanta says yes to him, but working incrementally towards the best offers that the Suns can offer for the for the facilities of Trey Young. Yeah. I mean, getting a Grayson Allen and a Ryan done means you can maybe keep one, flip the other. Maybe you keep all three. I mean, again, having a Grayson Allen makes it a little bit more feasible for you to play a Dyson Daniels and a Ryan Dunn and a Jaylen Johnson together, even a Jaylen Green as well. I I don’t think Kobe Buffkin is a piece that the Hawks would like cling on to and they would need to add him in here to make the money work because Grayson Allen makes $6 million more dollars per year than Royce O’Neal. But, you know, Ryan Dunn if his shooting leap and and again, all these trades that we’re talking about here, I would say are 10 times more likely to happen by the trade deadline, even if they’re not likely at all. And if Ryan Dunn’s shooting sustains, it’s a lot more feasible for him to play next to a Dyson Daniels and a Jaylen Johnson than if it’s more what we thought it could be coming out of college for the Suns. Are you entertaining giving up Ryan Dunn? Like, is Ryan Dunn an untouchable piece in a trade like this for you? Uh, like we talked about, was it with Gerald earlier this week? I don’t know. This week has been a blurred Sunday. That’s why I asked you. Sunday to me. We talked about who would be in the proverbial offlimits category for the Suns as far as trades with any any level of player in mind. Mhm. And I think I think it was you that said Devin Booker off limits your number 10 pick from this most recent draft off limits. Mhm. If the opportunity presents itself and teams come asking for young player XYZ or anywhere other than that, if that’s if that’s what they need for you to get that that shifting piece for your for your team, do you just go for it? We got uh a couple people in the chat. Yes, keep Dun. Don’t trade Dun. How can Dun be untouchable? Dun is damn near untouchable. Freckled Mamba says untouchable. Done is the only hope the Suns have here. I’d keep Dun, but nobody comes to me for answers. level outlook is the most leveled outlook in the chat right now. Nate says, “Dun is mostly untradable for this season. A Luca player could only change that like it did for the Lakers.” Uh, I would be hesitant to trade Ryan Dunn in a package for for Trey Young because again, when we talk about a ceiling of a Deon Booker, Trey Young team, is it a championship? I don’t think so. Um, now Ryan Dunn I don’t think is as nearly as good of a player as Trey Young. He doesn’t have nearly as high of a ceiling, but there’s so much potential there and to have a a potential long-term three next to Evan Booker. If his shot can get there, if his cutting, his floaters, his screening all improve and stay steady like they were when he was at his peak for that couple week stretch before Bud benched him last season. if his playm takes a leap up, if he has more on ball responsibility, if he can maybe show that he can guard up to the four and the five and play some small ball five even in his body type. Like these are things to where whenever the next superstar does come to Phoenix, Ryan Dunn most likely will be a malleable piece to fit in with whatever type of guy that would be. So, I would I would be very hesitant to trade Ryan Dunn in a package for anybody at this point, but I think the term untouchable might take it a step too far. Yes. Personally, yes. But and and that’s me. I love Ryan Dunn. You know that I love Ryan Dunn as a player. Calm down. Don’t look at my hand. Don’t look at my hand. Things we already knew coming into the conversation. Um, yes. Yes, he he is he’s a very good player. He’s a player that fits for whatever iteration of the Suns that they’re working towards going forward. 1,000%. Yes. The issue for me though with trading him for Trey is the age discrepancy and what that kind of entails for your roster going forward because we just talked about them finally having some pieces to help Ryan Don on the defensive end. there still isn’t anyone that can replace his point of attack value for this team, which will be even more of a need if you have a Trey Young on your roster because you don’t want to have him and Devin Booker trying to take on Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, De’aran Fox, like even a Dylan Harper type of guard. Like, you don’t want those guys to be having to try to chase all of those guys around or even attempt to have to stay in front of them for 40 minutes a night. So Ryan’s value significantly boosts up if you ring in the Trey Young. I don’t know if you I don’t know if Atlanta says yes to a deal if Ryan Dunn isn’t involved, but I also don’t think the Sun should say yes to a deal if it’s going to ultimately mean sacrifice and D. Again, brings to the conclusion of like this is very unlikely. Now, we’re going to explore it because it’s August and we do a show five days a week. Uh and there’s been some smoke out there. Now, you say they might not do a package if Ryan Dud’s not involved, and I counter that with our next trade that we’ll get to in a second. Before we do that, I want to ask you something that we haven’t talked about with Trey Young. Are you worried about the injury history with him? Not at all. Cuz he’s had some trouble with his Achilles. He’s had some trouble with his thigh. He’s had a ribs injury, a heel injury. That whole thing last year it was I it’s every other report was Achilles and ankle and it was like conflicting. Yeah. So I don’t know which it was. I don’t like that. I don’t know which it was. I just know dude put up 26 and 11 last season. So Sure. Sure. He’s also a smaller guard for sure. and he it it gets to a point to where it’s like is the gamble worth the risk to where it’s like if Trey Young is having lower body injuries and is compensating as a small guard if he does do something or if he does continue to have like Achilles stuff he was dayto-day with Achilles he missed games with quadricep injuries, hamstring injuries, rib contusions, heel contusions, like concussion protocol, finger injuries, like he he’s had he’s had a decent amount of of injuries injury history. Mhm. Nothing like severe, but you do have to wonder like most guys aren’t Chris Paul and even Chris Paul’s body started to break down until last year when he played all 82 games. I do wonder if you think like as Trey Young gets closer to 30, as he gets older and as you ask him to do a little bit more on the defensive end if giving up somebody in their soph before they even start their sophomore season is is something you should even consider as a franchise when this team has wanted to be fast and rebounding and running in transition. Well, Trey Young plays fast. Like, the defensive side of it, the rebounding side of it, and all of that doesn’t come into play. I’m not saying that that makes Trey Young a bad player or that if I’m most teams that I I hesitate from trading for him or if the Suns can do it with some of these earlier packages, I say no. But then when you get it when you dip into the the rookies and the sophomores, it’s like, okay, you kind of got to weigh the risk and reward here. Mhm. For me, especially if you’re talking about even looking at someone like Trey or not Trey, excuse me, Tyus, I was about to say Trey Jones. Tyus Jones, if you imagine what it looked like early in the season with Tus at his best, you can’t not be able to see the outlet to it working with Devin Booker next to Trey Young. if Taius Jones was able to work in a small capacity because Tus and Trey are in two completely different hemispheres of point guard play and just general impact on the game as a basketball player. You still get the defensive deficiencies that Trey has or that Taius had in Trey, but you get a significant like allstar level, all NBA level type of boost to your offense, which even at Taius’s best, he never brought. Yeah. And I think that’s that’s enough to shift things if you’re really considering it. The other thing though, he’s averaging 69 games played a season over his career. This is going into year eight. Yeah. Going into season eight for him, averaging about 34 and a half minutes. Yeah. I And you saw with Taius when he was going crazy from three, that was when it was sustainable. And then that’s closer to to Trey Young status. We have a super chat here from Leo. Thanks, Leo. Uh 199 says, “This trade works. Grayson for Webby. Yay or nay? I had to think about it. We appreciate you. Comedic relief, Leo. No, obviously we would do that. Okay, I think I’ve teased everybody long enough. Here’s a trade that I think the Atlanta Hawks would consider. The Suns would receive Trey Young and D on a Kongwu. In exchange, the Hawks would receive Jaylen Green, Dylan Brooks, and the number 10 overall pick in this year’s draft. Come on, Malawatch. What’s your first reaction to this? This is my first reaction for who? Yes. And I mean it. I mean that genuinely because if you if you just think about think about the timeline for the Suns, you go from having to sort out the Devin Booker part, you have to figure out the Bradley Bill part. You have to sus out the Kevin Durant situation all by your own doing. And you’re able to flip all of that, the picks recouped for Durant, the cap space created by putting Bradley Bill on a waving stretch. And within 6 months, Brian Gregory is able to flip this roster into keeping a Rasheed Fleming, keeping a Kobe Brea, keeping a Ryan Dunn and adding a point guard and a center, a more ready now. It firmly entrenches you in that that what five to five to seven, five to eight range in terms of playoffs. But again again and and for the people in chat people in chat who are saying like I the mala watches our life after Booker come on ceiling is way higher. Nope. Not doing that. Why would the Suns do that? Not listen. I didn’t say I didn’t say I would do it. I’m talking No, I’m talking about people in the chat. I’m I’m just speaking to the trade itself. I’m not saying I would do it. I didn’t even get to that part yet. Sure. But you’re breaking down why the Suns Correct. If the Suns were to do this, what would the line of reasoning be? Okay. and Yaka Kongu his ceiling is much lower than Kaman Ma watches right now walking into this season and Kongu would be the best center on the Suns roster right or wrong right you’re also talking about a player in Trey Young who would be a better fit than Jaylen Green in the back court right now you keep like you mentioned your wings so you keep Ryan Dunn you keep Rashier Fleming you keep Oso Agodaro right you don’t trade Kobe Brea is still around you still keep No Dylan Brooks is in this trade Brooks is in this trade but you keep Grayson and you Royce. Yep. That would be the line of thinking for the Suns. This would be the pressing the fast forward button because Devin Booker really, really, really wants to win now. And this would be a team that’s much more fit to win now than before. That being said, like you mentioned, what fifth seed ceiling in the Western Conference Click rate. I just don’t think that you give up a guy in Kamal watch who sure could not work out. Four years from now, we could look back at Kamal watch and be like, man, he was just a project that never really worked out. He’s Mo Bamba. Mhm. Right. It could happen. But you could also look back four years from now and say the Phoenix Suns have a franchise center and Kam Malawatch who is an absolute game record defensively and is 7 foot2 and skilled offensively and is the perfect running mate as Deon Booker enters the twilight of his career. Yep. You can’t say that about Aneka Kongu. And Trey Young, I don’t think he’s the perfect running mate for Deon Booker in the twilight of his career because as those two guys get older, the defense is only probably going to get worse. Can’t imagine it getting much better. Mhm. This is the only trade though that we’ve done today, Stephen, that I could see from Atlanta’s perspective, them doing. That’s it. It’s just this one. And for the Sunside, you have to factor in is the juice worth the squeeze on it? Because to your point, if you do this, you’re betting on those two making it work. Now, a Congoo hidden in the ways that you need him to right now. Now, obviously, the other part of it all is that you do get a big that can shoot some threes and started shooting some threes last season and on Congos. You still have Mark Williams around. You still have Nick Richards around in this trade in this trade concept. Mhm. You have to figure out how to flip some of that into some other pieces around the margins for your roster. Primarily a point of attack defender to go with Ryan Dunn. Whether that’s a bigger guy that can do it, whether that’s a smaller guy that can do it viably, you need someone else that can do that with him. Um, so there’s some questions that you have to figure you have figure out good answers, viable, sustainable answers with. But I just don’t know if it’s worth the squeeze on it. Yeah, Ted in the chat with a good point says that last trade is basically giving up everything we got for Katie minus the the I got to the moves that you had to do for the second round picks to move up and get Rashir Fleming and Kobe Brea. You’re basically taking you’re saying instead of trading Kevin Durant for Jaylen Green, Dylan Brooks, Kim Malawash, Rashir Fleming, Kobe Brea, you say we’re trading Kevin Durant for Trey Young and Yaka Kongwu, Kobe Brea and Rashir Fleming which is like on paper that’s not that bad, right? But I I do agree with Be’s in the chat who’s saying like that’s giving up on the direction of this team that we’ve been building, right? But I think that’s the only that’s the only realistic trade that I think we’ve gone over today. Would you agree with me? That’s the most realistic for sure. Okay. And that being said, would you trade for Trey Young? No. Not unless not unless we’re talking about I think I draw the line at I think I draw the line at the OSO deal. Green Brooks OSO second round pick. That’s where I draw the line. Um, before that, I just You have to wonder why Atlanta is not extending Trey Young. You have to wonder if the long-term juice is worth the squeeze. Um, I guess unless Devin Booker walks into your office and says, “You said you’d build around me. You’re going to listen to me.” Which I wouldn’t love, but that’s his leverage. That’s that’s his leverage. That’s the only way that I think you can get me on board with with parting with any of the packages above that. What do you think, Freckled Bomba? How do you feel? I’m not sold on any of these returns. I think as much of the chat says, I think we just need to write it out this year, see where we’re at. Um, I know we were talking before show too. I think the trade deadline this upcoming season is going to be an interesting kind of like checkpoint for just our team building. So, I’d like to wait till then. Frank Mamba, there’s a request to in the chat a demand. A demand. Yes, that’s a demand. Would you accept any of these trades for Trey Young? Let’s get that going here. And you know what? How about a pallet cleanser? We feel good with the pallet cleanser. Well, I was going to say we can get the tray on graphics up real quick. Oh, yeah. Yeah. My bad. We made do all this work. I didn’t even call for the graphics. And I still didn’t stamp my decision on it either. Okay. But I want to kind of talk talk things through a little bit on why the team I’m ready to do, but I guess we could talk about basketball before we get to Eric’s fun game. Sorry. That’s what we here for. Um Eric, we can go ahead and bring it up. U Trey Young last season, last season wasn’t his best season, but it was one of the better seasons of his career. Um, led the league in assist player that can give you 20 and 11, 20 and 12 essentially on any given night on low turnovers. So that assisted turnover rate that everybody swore Tus Jones was going to work with last season. Trey gives you that with way more scoring. not the prospects of a good floater, but a floater that is proven to be one of the best in the league and one of the best in the history, especially from guards. Um, and then obviously you get the the efficiency on this um the shots that he is taking, knocking down twos, knocking down threes, and then knocking down his free throw attempts and being able to get to the free throw line. But also more than anything else, Trey is going to require a certain level of attention if he’s playing next to anybody. The the threat of his pull up three-point shot and him him being able to go and get to it whenever, but also the threat of his floater. He’s a mid-range assassin, but not in the ways that Kevin Durant and Chris Paul were for the Suns. He’s a mid-range assassin off of that midi. He can snake and get into that middle third of the floor and put up floers that look like alleyoop. or alley passes that look like floaters that just pull at the strings of a defense always create an advantage. Yeah. Also can make every single pass in the book. If a team wants to send send him to his left hand, every pass that he can make with his right hand, he can make with a similar velocity and accuracy with the left in addition to that. And then we have another graphic uh Eritton with the looking at his passing numbers from last season. There’s one thing that’s there that’s there’s only one thing that’s not first and it’s Deon Booker first what Deon Booker was first in. Correct. You would have the best passing back court of all time. The best pass one of the best passing back courts of all time. Definitely the best passing back court in the league right now. Two players that draw double teams in multiple capacities whenever they have the ball in their hands, whether it be dribble handoffs or pick and roll. This is tough. Like I’m still not I still haven’t given my answer on this, but you can’t tell me that you’re emphatically saying no when you have a prolific playmaker that’s efficient with the playmaking that he brings. First and assist. It’s enticing total. First and assist points created. Most people can’t name more than four players that he played with last season. And he still by far led the league in assist points and assists total and a two-point assist and a three-point assist we were second in. and then obviously led in free and attempts at the rim in terms of assists. That’s if you’re talking about expediting players growth. Um if it’s not Maloise because he’s included in the deal and it’s Mark Williams instead, you’re getting the most out of Mark Williams because of Trey Young and in addition to Devin Booker. All of those things being said, I would not do it. I just wanted to provide the context because the nose were a little bit too loud and a little bit too preemptive without considering all of the things that Trey would bring to the mix for the team. It’s just too much. It’s too much. I don’t know if he’s the right type of type of piece to be bringing in if you’re if you’re giving up so much of your capital. Yeah. Kayla says, “Feel like y’all should have led with this.” LOL. That’s on me. That’s on me. I got too excited. Uh shocker. Nate says, “These stats prove the question is fit.” Correct. Not talent. Correct. And that’s the point that I’m getting at, Nate. You can’t just emphatically say no to Trey Young when the Suns have been a lot of Suns fans have been asking for a point guard play since Chris Paul exited the the last bit of his prime and it kind of was on the down slide a little bit. Mhm. So, I think that an offensive duo of Trey Young and Devin Booker would be maybe the most fun back court that I’ve watched in my history of watching basketball. I can’t say that. I can’t say that for sure because I saw fun resulting wins than a surprising volume and a finals appearance. Sure. So, to top that and I saw a lot of ankle breakers and a lot of fun talking about Chris Paul and Deon. Yeah. But it still would be one of the most fun. It would be one of the most fun. And the thing with it might it might be less effective as far as wins go than Chris Paul, but as far as like I’m not saying Chris Paul wasn’t fun. Don’t get me started here. I don’t want you to like throw a punch at me on here. But uh no comment on that. Um but Trey Young’s style of playing is a little more exciting. the logo, the twitchy name. It would be it would be crazy to see that alongside with Devin Booker and the playmaking and think about like if you make one of these trades that doesn’t part with Malawatch, how great that would be for a center like him to be playing off a playmaking of at all times. One of Trey Young or Deon Booker or both of Trey Young and Deon Booker are on the court. It’s definitely something that I think would be enticing and it’s definitely something I think the Suns will sniff around at. And especially if that value goes down for Trey throughout the season, whether it’s because of an injury, whether it’s because of a fit, whether it’s because Atlanta doesn’t really want to extend him, whatever it is, I can see the Suns sniffing around that. But would you do it? Well, we put a poll in the chat. 62% say no. Now 63%, 37% say yes. Make your voice heard in our poll. Any final thoughts on Trey Young? Any final thoughts on the packages the Suns would give up to get him or anything before we play my fun little game? Yeah, I don’t think the time is right for the Suns to go after a Trey Young type of guard. I still I still would be more in on them finding a bigger wing that can create and do a lot of things. A 34, a 43, someone like that. Um, so I don’t think Trey is the target for them, but they should, be sniffing around at opportunities like Trey. Yeah. uh level outlook mentioned the only concern here is that you give a season for Jaylen Green and his value just tanks. It just doesn’t work. Mhm. And if that happens and his value tanks, you stuck stuck. Then you and again, this is assuming the Suns have the opportunity to do this right now, which they don’t. I I don’t think they do. I don’t think right now the Suns would make this trade or the the Hawks would make this trade. Right? But if you don’t move green right now, let’s say let’s keep him and let’s build around him, then you are banking on his improvement. And as we’ve mentioned, we all have concerns about that improvement. So there is that philosophy side of things of, hey, we don’t want to give up on this young exciting guard. Maybe the defensive potential is a little bit more tantalizing. You know, maybe we can get more out of him with him playing next to Devin Booker, whatever. Maybe it doesn’t work. And if it doesn’t, then that trade value goes down. And if you have the opportunity to acquire a certified all-star guard in Trey Young, well then that’s a trade that you should make. So it’s a tricky situation, but I don’t think it’s a situation that the Suns sit in right now. This is one that I think we’ll be monitoring in in January and February for this is why this season is so important past the win loss record. I’m here saying that I think the Suns can make the playoffs at their peak through the playin tournament. Mhm. But it’s past just the win loss record and where the season ultimately ends where they have to get things out of Ryan Dunn. They have to get clarity from Oso Gadaro. They have to figure out can Jaylen Green turn past being the inefficient high volume scorer. That adage that’s kind of following him around right now. Can Devin Booker get back to being the engine of an offense efficiently and effectively? Like there’s a lot of questions around the Suns that need to get answered independent of win loss, but if they hit in some capacity, the win loss record could factor into them getting some more experience out of this team. This is why we have conversations like this. I know some people are going to look at this and be like, why are they talking about this? Even like, you know, some people said, well, Flex didn’t say it was the Suns that are going to be interested. And we’re not passing that along from Flex, but Flex said it’s a situation to be monitored. And the Suns technically have the assets that line up that they could trade for Trey Young. So, will that happen? I would probably put it at like sub 3%. That that ends up happening in real life. I think realistically, uh, Houston Rockets, unfortunately, I think the Miami Heat, the Orlando Magic, these are three teams that we talked about yesterday. Obviously, Orlando trading for Bane, but you never really know. Boston if they want to get in on it. Boston if they want to get in on it. Trying to offload Anthony Simons or any other team that you could see getting? Those are the only teams that I cuz before Desmond Bane went to Orlando, I would have thought that they might want to get get in on that. But now that they have Desmond Bane, I just can’t see them wanting to do that anymore and he doesn’t fit what they’re working towards now. Can I give you a wild card? Go ahead. Talk to me. Toronto. I was going to throw in uh Minnesota. Minnesota’s interesting. I think Toronto’s interesting because What did they just do? Uh, you have to build a team that fits around Trey Young, that’s what Atlanta’s doing with like these long lengthy wings. And if there’s one thing that while Masai was on the Raptors, he’s done is filled them up with long lengthy wings. You could see them kind of replicating what Atlanta’s doing maybe with a higher ceiling. If you’re a Scotty Barnes believer or a Colin Murray Boils uh believer, you know, I I think Toronto and keeping Trey Young in the East, I think for Trey Young’s sake and for whoever’s trading for him sake is is a much better bang for your buck than moving Trey Young to the Western Conference and saying, “Let’s come with with the big dogs in the West, like how almost every single Christmas Day game is from the Western Conference teams.” Not the Suns, though. Uh Suns also not on opening night. We don’t need to spend any time on that because we missing it though. Duh. Duh. If you’re watching on TV and you want to witness my fun little game, the party always continues over at gophnx.com. It means it’s time for overtime here on PHNX. Sons, hit that like button, hit that subscribe button. The poll apparently has evened out a little bit. It’s 40% yes, 60% no. So, continue to make your voice known. And I’m going to be pulling us three here for this game. It’s a way too early edition of Phoenix Sun season superlatives. I have 10 categories for you guys here today and you will give me your predictions on who you think is the most likely to blank on the Phoenix Suns. Are you ready? We’ll see. Okay, Arrington, you will relate to this as as a producer and as a former producer, you spend a lot of time looking at pictures of this team, right? So, by the end of the season, which player on the Suns will have the best picture taken of them in-game, out of game, one that we’ll be using for thumbnails, a thumbnail mainstay, who has the best picture taken of them? So, in my in my photo search so far in this job, Ryan Dunn has a criminally low amount of photos available for him. And the ones that he does have that are thumbnail worthy, he’s got like weird things going on with his face that make me out of respect for him screaming one that’s fire. It is good. And I’ve used it too many times. But yeah, so I think that I I guess it’s more of a hope. I hope that Ryan Dunn gets more pictures that are okay good that we can use. So, I’m going to go with Ryan Dunn. This is just for the Suns, by the way. Uh, who do you think has the best picture taken of them this year? This is from anybody on the Sun. Anybody on the Suns? I have two names that come to mind. I think I think Ryan Dunn will catch some bodies that demand for the camera to catch him either live shot or the reaction flexing. Um I highlighted in the recent Ryan Dun film session him being a whole lot more demonstrative where he was more reserved early on. He’s celebrating after threes, pointing at dudes with the gun fingers and backpedaling. The confidence is certainly coming up. Dylan Brooks. Yeah, that was a Dude, he makes some funny faces and you never know what kind of hair. Always into something that you never know what kind of hair might pull up with the Jesus flow. He might pull up with the Drake braids. Like he might do whatever. I think my pick is Jaylen Green. He’s always for the same reasons. I think Jaylen Green is going to do something crazy. I was going to get to JG and Rashir because I imagine for the same reasons as Ryan Dunn. I think Jaylen Green has caught many bodies. Rashier Fleming is likely going to be doing the same. Or you might even get a Shaq type of full body extension where Rashir Fleman is diving for a loose ball into the stands. Yeah, one of those joints or diving on the floor. Come on, Mwatch. Underrated. They might have a little baby boy smiling, having a good time. He might be on the floor. I can see it. If he can get on the floor, I can see it for sure. He’ll be on the floor. They’re going to give him run at least in the beginning of the beginning of the year. Okay. Well, I’m glad that we naturally segue into our next question. There are a lot of candidates for this, but I think there are three leaders. Who will have the best poster of the season? The best posterizing dunk. To me, it’s between three names. Jaylen Green, Ryan Dunn, and Oso Igodaro. I think Rashier Fleming honorable mention. Who will have the best poster for the Phoenix Suns this season? H I don’t know. You said Jaylen Green, Brashier. It could be anybody. I think my top three is Jaylen Green, Ryan Dunn, Oso. I’m going to roll with Jaylen Green cuz the I mean the bounce is just stupid. But D I mean remember Dunn posterized Giannis and Oso has crazy bounce and he’s been attacking the rim ferociously in summer league. I’m curious. I’m wondering if I the obvious answer to throw in there is Jaylen Green. Uhuh. I’m very curious. Mark Williams, okay, will lead the team in dunks. I wonder what type of dunks are we going to see from him because this is his first off season since he’s been in the league that he’s spent healthy. He’s been able to kind of work on his game, work on his body. Yes. I’m curious if he comes in and, you know, dunks on dunks on any given opposing starting caliber center or starting center. Yeah. Just off a pass from Booker, pass from Green. The attention that they get, I can see it. But you’re going you going Jay? I’m going with Jayen though. Yeah. Uh Franklin Mamba clean sweep. Jaylen Green. Jaylen Green. No question. Yeah. I think I think I think Dunn might Dunn might get one that that challenges. But yeah, the green bounces crazy. We haven’t we haven’t seen a Jaylen will be the most audacious. We haven’t seen an athlete like him in Phoenix in so long. That’s his brother. That’s Yeah. I mean, and that’s what almost a decade ago. I will I will I will say though, Jaylen not. No, I can’t I can’t allow for Rashir Fleming to not get a mention here. He’s on He’s on there. But out of all those guys, he’ll probably single him out as a mission because as audacious as Jaylen Green is, I think Rashier is going to his first couple minutes, he’s going to be looking to wreck on the court. He’s probably gonna pick out pick up he’s probably going to pick up a undisiplined foul in his first couple minutes and then settle down from there. And he’s probably going to try to tear the rim off of somebody’s head in that process, too. Nick Richards likes to catch bodies, too, but will he be able to quiet? We’ll see. Okay. Who will have the best pregame fit? Jaylen Green’s been quoted putting that S on. Um Dylan Brooks loves to loves to dibble in um louder articles of clothing. Book likes to as well. Book will definitely have the best pregame car. That’s not even a question. Um, Book is very laidback and old school with his approach to to attire with a splash of Kyle Kosma with a splash of couples every once in a while. Yeah, I’m going probably say Jaylen cuz Jaylen is more daring to to stretch the stretch the limits and test some different waters. I would say Jaylen with a close second being um Mr. Brooks, Eritton, League Fits legend Devin Booker. I I think I think Book is a good I think Book’s gonna pull up with like a fit that matches the car, of course. Yeah. And it’s gonna be Or he’s gonna put on some like cowboy bleep. I will say um rest in peace Ball. Oh yeah, he would have sweeped this. I think uh Katie fits pretty good. Of course you said, but Kaye, that was predictable. Uh yeah, I think you know I think Bobo and Katie are probably the two best fits that you’re losing on the team. Uh okay, here’s the next one. Who will have the worst pregame fit? Ah, that’s tough. Um, that’s a great question, too. I’mma I’mma throw Grayson. Oh, no. Respect to Respect to the homie Grayson. That dad swag. Respect to the homie Grayson. But I feel like Grayson will be the dude that that’ll just pull up in like a Nike tech field. I feel like that’s just be cool. No. Yeah, 100%. Ryan D. I’m glad you missed. I think Ryan Dunn is on this list for sure. Like it’s not bad, but like No, it’s not bad, but it’s not going to be It’s not going to be Let’s take the plainess out of it. Let’s say who’s going to like try to put on a good fit, but have the worst cuz I think it’s Dylan Brooks. Dylan Brooks. It’s Dylan Brooks. You agree, Freckama? Yeah. Oh, it’s Dylan for It’s Dylan for sure. Jeez. Boom. That’s a crazy comment. Okay. Best postgame sound bite. Jaylen, you think so? A thousand%. I think it might be Ryan Dunn or O. I think it might be Oso. They’re too They’re too fun. No, they’re too they’re they’re too polite. They’re fun, but they’re too polite. They’re They have their banter between each other. Jaylen is more Jaylen is from a different place. He’s more forward. Jaylen’s from a different place. I I’ll say that. And I think because of that in places where they might walk on eggshells a little bit, Jaylen will be more direct to your point. And I think we saw that in the only media availability that he’s had already at Summer League where y’all had a chance to kind of be in the same space as him and talk with him. Uh, by the way, Freckle Mamba left Dylan Brooks off the poll and put Colin Gillespie on the poll. I think Colin could put it on. Elco 82. Man, if you don’t get out of here with better stop it, man. All right, bro. All right. She was hooping last night. Um 53s. Yeah, you got got her talking talking crap and then getting just absolutely dominated by Yeah. Got her got her teammates. Got her chain snatched by Dana. Correct. She’s doing all that all that yapping but wasn’t guarding nothing. That was a great game last night. Check out PHX Mercury from earlier today. Um okay, best postgame sound by I think. Yeah, Jaylen Green for sure. Uh book book is good for and if if first if ifs were fifths we’d all be drunk every once in a while. So I think sleeper books sleeper Ryan Dunaroso and and I think Dylan Brooks in there as well. Okay. Who’s going to have the worst postgame sound bite? Like the one that makes us cringe cuz this is like I call this like the Mike Benhoer ceremonial worst postgame soundbite award. There’s too many fun personalities to the point where no one pops up immediately. I think because I would probably say Colin only because Colin is very mildmannered in terms of, you know, how he kind of speaks with the media and everything. He’s very great with speaking with the media, very articulate, too. But I just think he’ll be a lot more reserved than other guys would be where you’re not going to really get too much of a like a sound bite, if you will. Mhm. What do you think, Freckled? I don’t know. This one’s tough because it can be for sure like the worst can mean anything. Um, I don’t know. I feel like Dylan Brooks is gonna say something about a teammate. It’s just kind of like it’s just kind of like h you could have kept that in house. Okay. Oh, that’s interesting. Who’s most likely to be a fan favorite by the end of the season? This is the Bull Bowl in Memorial. Ryan Dunn is leading that off rip. Mhm. Is he challenged? Dylan Brooks. Booker’s out. Booker’s out of it. Kong Gillespie. I think Kobe Brea, if he can get into the mix, people already want to see him be successful with the Suns because of some of the book overlap and everybody loves a shooter, especially a light-skinned shooter. Um, I want to see I want to see how much that Rashir Fleming can get. Yeah, because in there Rashier is one of those dudes that plays with a certain type of force that it engages a crowd. Yeah. And I think he might lean into that as he gets comfortable on the NBA stage if it happens in his rookie season. So I’ll probably go with those. I think Malawatch, which we put in the poll, Malawatch is up there. If he’s good, if he’s good, his personality is just electric and magnetic. Um Colin Gillespie, I think, is going to be up there as he gets more extended run. Rashir for sure. Um I’m trying to think anybody else. I think Jaylen Green can win people over because of his highlight worthy play. He’s a walk-in highlight reel. Like you never know what he’s going to do. He maybe fits the most like the Bullbull award for fan favorite. Yeah. He’s like if BB Bowls is like Andy to Andy’s point like we just rattled off six different names. Yeah. A lot of candidates. A lot of candidates on that one. Here’s not as funny. Who’s my Who’s most likely to be a fan least favorite by the end of the season? Who might fans hate by the end of the 82 games? Honestly, it might be Kamatch. If he doesn’t play well, there’s pressure there for sure. There’s I think Mark Williams if I think any of the three centers. Yeah, Nick watch. Yeah, Sun’s got Suns fans got a got a bad relationship with centers, bro. So, yeah, trauma. It’s called trauma inevitably. Yes, I I would probably go with them. I think if Jaylen Green don’t pan out the way that people are hoping he can on the optimistic side, I can see people being converted into get him off the team type of energy, which wouldn’t be fair to him, especially because he’ll only be 24 and a half at the end of next season. But that’s kind of the situation we in because of the the um the steps into this season and how things have been so underwhelming the last two years. I think Sneaky and this has been building up a little bit with the contingency in the fan base, Grayson Allen. If Grayson Allen does not get better or get back to where he was two seasons ago and defensively he slides a little bit. Yeah. Maybe Royce O’Neal if he if his athleticism takes a step back. I can see that too. I can see I think underrated in it all though, Mr. Brian Gregory though. Ooh, because people already have written they written they’ve written him off before he even got the opportunity to have his introductory presser and I think he’s done a stellar job with the the deck of cards he was dealt and flipping that into something positive that add some value. He got to continue to kind of walk that walk that fine line, walk on that thin ice appropriately because if there’s any slips, people are people are already chomping at the [ __ ] to say something negative about him. They can’t say anything yet because he’s done a solid job with what he’s been working with. But the verdict’s still out on that front for the people that are negative nies. Yeah, IBM there as well. Yeah, I Yeah. Well, to that point, it could really for literally every player on this team, it’s such a fine line and it’s going to be so far in either direction. There’s going to be no middle ground with this team this year with the fan base. All right, last two. Biggest surprise of the season. Who will surprise the most people for the Suns this season? I think it’s Oso, man. I genuinely think it’s Oso. I genuinely do because the lack of ball handlers on the roster, how I can see Jordan I featuring him to his strengths in a primary ball handler sense, but also in a secondary ball handler sense where he’s getting kicked to a second side and getting into dribble handoffs and things like that. I think that he’s can potentially surprise people with the way that what he showed on the summer league circuit, how that can kind of go into um this upcoming season. Mhm. Got another name in there, but I want to see who you thinking of. Jordan, I love throw Jordan in there. I think Jordan will be the biggest surprise for the Suns this season. What do you think, Juice Man? Um, I think I think Oso is a good call, too. I think he’s going to be used so much better than what Andy Andy been talking to talking to entirely too much. I thought that Malawatch was going to be honest with the jump shot. Why don’t we just have two? Why don’t we just have two of them? one roster at you. I’m here for it. All right. You had another name. Dylan Brooks. All right. I think that Dylan Brooks and Jaylen Green, honestly, both of those two. Um, I feel like a different opportunity, a new context for them playing in different ways they might potentially be featured. I think both of them might be seeing more successes than Suns fans may be anticipating from them going into this season. Yeah. And hopefully come on Malawatch uh works his way into this conversation. For sure. Ready for the last one? Let’s do it. This is fun. Who is the most likely on the Phoenix Suns to win an award? We’re talking MVP, six-man of the year, defensive player, most improved player, clutch player of the year, coach of the year, and executive of the year. Most likely. Most likely to win an award. I think Devin Booker for MVP. That’s the easy That’s the easy answer is Deon Booker for sure. or if it’s not MVP. If it’s not MVP, scoring champ, um like you know, all of those type of things. A first team selection, second team selection. Oh, rookie of the year as well. Uh most improved player. It’s it’s it’s it’s Booker. It’s Booker for sure. Do we think a Jaylen Green most improved season or maybe like a They love giving it to secondyear players. So like a Ryan Dunn most improved. I don’t think there Elco 82. I don’t know if there’s a literal award given out, but people acknowledge the three-point champ in terms of who Yeah. There’s not like an award though. But there’s no award given out for it. Yeah. Uh cuz otherwise obviously to to his point Grayson W. You can throw in three-point contest champion and dunk contest champion. Yeah. I think it’s Jayen Green dunk contest champion. It’s Deon Booker whether it’s allar scoring champ. Okay. It’s got like a actual like postseason award or I guess dunk contest or freckled mamba. What do you think? I unfortunately don’t see a world where Devin Booker outperforms anyone of the likes of like Jokic or Giannis or SJA next year. But I do think that Dun’s jump is closer to reaching MIP than Book is to reaching MVP. So I’m going to go Dun. I think Jaylen Green MIP I think Jaylen Green MIP is more on the dumb part just because we’ve seen who is Julius Randle’s won the most play most improved player of the year award like we’ve seen players that have been I already had expectations for allar like in their second or third year you didn’t get rookie of the year and then you got a little bit better you look a little bit better so we going to give it to like they don’t treat the most improved award for what it feels like the definition of it is so I feel like it gets overlooked in that because of it unfortunately uh I think a couple other contenders I don’t think Malawatch is gonna win rookie of the year. Didn’t John Varant win a most improved play? Dude, they used they gave it to K. Didn’t they give it to K? Cooper flag is gonna win most improved player of the year. Um and they’ll get a rookie of the year. If the Suns are really good, I think Jordan, coach of the year, is more likely than Devin Booker MVP. Um I think Jaylen Green, most improved player is more likely than Deon Booker MVP. If the Suns are really good, um I think that Is there anything else? I mean, book MVP. If he goes like 30 and eight and the Suns are a top five, four seed in the West, then he’s he’s in that conversation, but it would take a lot. They’re going to hand one to Luca at some point. He’s been the preseason favorite like a bunch. Um, and if they’re really good executive of the year, Brian Gregory. Um, if he swings a deal that puts them in the playoffs. Sure. Sure. Yeah. What would what would Green have to put up to BMIP? 26 and good efficiency. And then what does that do for Booker’s stats and efficiency? What would that mean for him? I think it impacts Booker. I think Book probably won’t go 30 and eight, but he could still probably get like 28 and N. I genuinely think they could have two players that average over 25 again next season. Yeah, I don’t think that’s out the realm. Even on the low end, but on the high end, I think Jay can get to 26 and Booker average 30. Six man of the year, Colin Gillespie. Grayson Allen. Come on, Mwatch. Come on, Mwatch. Rookie of the year, six man of the year season incoming. All right. The Phoenix Suns just traded for Jalen Green, but is he a better running mate for Devin Booker than Hawks guard Trae Young? Following recent reports from friend of the program Flex From Jersey, PHNX Suns dives into the potential fit of the Atlanta all-star and what it would take for him to land in Arizona.

Do the Suns have enough of a trade package to woo the Hawks? What other teams would be in contention to swoop in and trade for Young? 1. Jalen Green for Josh Giddey and stuff. A sign and trade, Giddey gets 28 per for 4 years and maybe add Jalen Carter or a pick? I'd prefer a deal like this to a giant depletion of the current talent and a giant contract for Young. Hell, it might even be a better result on the court!

  2. Landing Trae in a trade will throw a grenade with the direction this current roster is setup atm. A problem this team has had that no one really talks about is STABILITY – letting the team work itself out. Every year we have had major changes including the coming season i.e coaching and players. So atm we going to play Point Book as well as Green in this coming season – bringing in Trae will change this AGAIN. I want to see some stability. If we had him now going into the season then maybe do a trade. I am not convinced with Trae
