Cubs vs. Cardinals Game Highlights (8/8/25) | MLB Highlights

The future Hall of Famer number four, Yadier Molina back in a Cardinals uniform, take the lineup card out to home plate. Oh man, this gives me goosebumps. Cardinals fans cheering him, giving him a standing ovation at Bush Stadium. Mcreavy coming off a win in San Diego, big win as we talked about earlier, the fact that he was able to really settle in innings 45 and six, he was hyper aggressive. So Michael mcgreevy got a chance to set this long home stand off on the right foot, two down. No score just under way. The batter is kyle Tucker that is hard hit in a base hit into right field. Here is Ian H the pitch to hap, swung on and fouled, tipped into the catcher pitch, strike three happ strikes out leaving Tucker on left hander. Matthew Boyd having a phenomenal season, you simply can’t pitch much better than Boyd has pitched all season long. He is 11 and four, a glittering , er, a of 2.34 faces the Cardinals for the third time this season. He’s 2 to 0 against them. The Cardinals have not put up a run against him. So far this year, Donovan will get the Cardinals offense started here in the first inning swing and a miss struck him out and here is Herrera 12 swing and a miss struck him out and that’s the changeup two away drive right field and Tucker out to a knee and he makes the catch Pete Grow Armstrong. A left handed batting center fielder and that one right back in a grey who caught that right in the center of his chest. Everybody’s going to check on Michael that came off the bat hot. That was over 104 miles an hour. All smiles right now for Michael. Here’s caring. Kelly. Now line drive base hit into left field Burleson over to collect that one. Kelly will take the turn and he will hang on at first. Here’s Nikko Horner swing and a ground ball up the middle and it gets through Horner with a two out knock and the Cubs have two men on two down. No score. Second inning. Here’s Dansby Swanson. He swings and drives the ball to right field. Backing up. Walker who’s there and makes the catch about two steps away from the warning track. Swanson lines out leaving two on Boyd to Burleson because he can do that. First cardinal hit Burleson takes Boy the other way. A leadoff single. Now Mason n hitting in the number five spot on the ground. That’s a fair ball past Castro off the side wall barely on his way to third. Mason slides in with a double terrific at bat by Mason N eight pitches. 2nd and 3rd nobody out. And Jordan Walker three for his last five on the ground game. Short, Swanson drops in a run is here. Walker comes through. It’s 1 to 108 miles an hour off the bat of Jordan Walker. Dansby Swanson gets leather on. It saves a run properly with the speed of Mason win. Cardinals on the scoreboard. Finally against Matthew Boyd, here’s Thomas to J back to the mound, freezes the runner back and a lot of first almost too late. Cardinals might take a look at this. He looked Mason win back and Then lob the throw to first to JC busting down the line. The Cardinals are going to challenge this review. The call the is over, the runner is safe, the bases are loaded but nobody on the Cardinals are set up for a big inning swing and a Miss Paz is gone and now it’s Hampson Hampson has been zero for five head to head with Boyd to one to one ground ball glove to the plate for one back to first two and they turn the 1 to 2 to 3 and the Cardinals manage just one run out of all that fly out to center, fly out to right, fly out to left good work by mcgreevy and we go to the bottom of the third inning. 1 to 0. ST Louis best friend Bradley from Palm Beach, Florida. 13 years old became a fan of the umpires when he went to a Marlins game in Florida. And his dad said, what are you looking at? And he said, I’m watching the umpires between innings. Here’s Ben May to Bradley. Hey, hey, yeah, ground ball hit sharply short fielded by Swanson , his throw across inside to get a hustle in Contreras Cardinals go down in order here in the third. He had hap struck out swinging his first time and a line drive sliced down to left center and that will touch down for a hit leadoff man is aboard and got to second on a buck. Now he’s at third as PC A does a nice job of advancing the tying run 90 feet. He just needs to put it in play somewhere. Now, on the ground, hot shot to third to the plate had plenty of time. Kelly, it’s a rocket to Thomas to Jasi and he makes a perfect throw for the second. Not a close play at the plate. Well done. There’s a break for the Cardinals, Alec Burleson who singled and scored the game’s only run and there’s a looper in the left field that’s going to be a hit. Now, this is regional cable television. You will be getting your big league debut on TV. All right. So make these calls, get that mask on I here. Tutu popped up. Bradley sorry, didn’t get to make the strikeout call. You sir are phenomenal. And right here in ST Louis, a major league umpire is born. The Cubs have a man on Dansby Swanson. The batter that space in the right field comes down a run but threatening with Michael Busch at the plate. Big strikeout changeup, Suzuki zero for two tonight. P Timmer, Donny drifts out. He says he’s got it in mcreavy. He gets the second out and it will be left up to kyle Tucker swing and a hot shot right center. That is trouble but he’s going to get there and that will retire the side on the ground deep short Dansby Swanson off balance that will pull Bush off the bag. Let’s see if Hampson can deliver nice bunt throw to second is going to sail to center. The Cardinals have something going 1st and 2nd. Nobody out in the top of the order of shows. Bunt got it down. It dies on the grass. Boys throw is just in time. Second and third one out, Iv-n Herrera high fly to center Co Armstrong settles behind high has the runner at third. He’s going to tag the throw is off target with a sack fly to make it 20. Wilson Contreras is next line drive left field base hit here comes Hampson around third throw will be cut off and now they’ve got Contreras in a run down between 1st and 2nd and he’ll be tagged out. But how about the Cardinals? Couple of sacrifice bunts the SAC fly and a big two out hit and now it’s Willie Castro little tapper. Sir JC flips to first and a fist pump for Michael mcgreevy. He’s got a six inning shutout start. Number seven of the season was a great one for Michael mcgreevy walked one through six. Did not give up a run struck out three awesome job by Michael mcgreevy, Matthew Boyd tonight over the Cubs. Go to the bullpen, the bullpen for the cub. He’s been a bit of a weak spot here as of late chip. You go back to June 19th, 523, the, er, a for the pen ryan Brazier in for his 25th game of the season. Two strikeouts for Brazier, three to zero. ST Louis and the batter is Jordan walker has that ball blasted by walker. Deep left. Jordan Walker has extended the lead. That’s been a long time coming. Walker just hit his first home run since the 17th of May. You know that swing of the bat from Jordan walker felt good. He’s been working hard and the Cardinals lead 4 to 0. Here’s Thomas to Jasi. That ball is a bullet into the left field corner by Siri. So back to back extra base hits here in the sixth inning. The Redbirds try to pour it on in game one. Pedro Pas this one hit the other way to JC around third Tucker’s throw is not cut off with a multi hit game. So JC scores the second run of the inning five to nothing. Cardinals. Cardinals have the leadoff man on Jordan Walker at the plate. Mason takes off and Walker rips the shot to left. He’s got a three hit game and the Cardinals have 1st and 3rd broken bat short hop and coming home with it is Horner and out of the baseline is win and the Cubs are down to their last chance, sharply, head to second. Do. He’s got it. And the Cardinals have shut out the Cubs.

  1. Poor wittle Shitcago. They are playing a team that isn't powder-puff competition and they are getting exposed! 😂 Go Redbirds! My man Mitt 😘 and I know they are taking the NL Central, making the postseason again and snagging another World Series trophy to tack onto their growing collection. 🏆

  3. 🤣 wow Chicago chubs just wow hahaha. Cardinals made them look stupid with half of our AAA roster lol. Im loving the freefall of the Cubs right now I gotta say, they had like a 6 game lead in the division and now they're what 5 games back of milwaukee now!? Hey Chicago whaddya say 😂😂

  4. The cubs are in an overall slump. Their defense is spotty, they get hits, but can't capitalize on bringing in the runners on base, especially when they are in scoring position.

  5. Future HOFer??? For what? 40 WAR?? Dude is NOT a HOFer. Not even close. If Kenny Lofton can’t get in with 60 WAR this dude doesn’t belong on THE BALLOT!! Go look at Melina’s Baseball Reference page. It’s NOT PRETTY. It’s not the page of a HOFer. It’s just not. Hall of good defense, maybe

  6. Crazy to think about and remember how much people let Yadier Molina just do whatever you want because he could control the running game dudes the most overrated player maybe ever. He has two all-star caliber good years and he’s a league average player for the rest of it. Basically longevity and throwing out base runners does not equal Hall of Fame. This guy was so beloved that he was not fairly judged while he played dude cannot hit the ball.
