Reds vs. Pirates Game Highlights (8/8/25) | MLB Highlights
The Reds. You were talking about this really important series against Pittsburgh. The Reds are 19 to 42 at PC since 2000 and 18. Not good. It’s the worst record for any team in this ballpark over that span. Not nearly as much of a strikeout artist as Paul Skes, but he enters a nine strikeouts shy of 800 for his career two pitch got him swinging good morning, good after good night, 1 to 2 cut on and missed back to back to begin the night for Mitch Keller. It’s really good to see that the sweeping slider is already working for him. He has two shapes when it comes to the slider de la Cruz. De la Cruz breaks his bat on a flare to left field. It’s going to drop in for a base hit. They all count just the same de La Cruz with a two out. They do care all of the scene, but it also goes to show you just the growth of de La Cruz and a ground ball shortstop side flip to the covering at second base for the force happening and the first pitch from chase burns 99 with the heater outside the 22 year old rookie making his eighth major league starts looking for his first big league win 100 at the knees. Strike three is such a great example of why the spin rate matters. And he gets reynolds to swing and miss on chase burns sliders near the top of baseball pitch cruises down on strikes three K’s in the inning and chase burns Gavin Lux last night was the d lefty hitter had three hits, ground ball right side through for a base hit for Gavin three hit game last night. He’s aboard for the Reds to begin the second Duha ground ball base hit left side and it’s back to back singles to begin the second for Cincinnati. The Reds trying not only to get back to the postseason but also to win a playoff series four pitch walk here to load the bases and jake Fraley will come up here ground ball right side fielded by to throw to second for one on the first for the double play. A run will score the will trade the two outs for that one. Cincinnati, you’re 100% right. Alex Mitch Keller will trade in a run with a line drive to center Cruz coming on, makes the catch and Then goes into a slide line drive but caught in center field. The Reds score just one and that was huge play in right field. Tonight was in left last night. Now he takes strike three called fastball right over the outside corner is on with a two out single first hit of the night Pirates swing and a miss struck him out with 100. That is five strikeouts so far through two innings for chase burns one gone lineup turns over to h strikeout number six for chase as he gets Horwitz with a nasty slider. Unbelievable swings the first pitch, little tapper right back to the pitcher, burns gloves underhand to first. That’s a nice, efficient three up, three down inning 50 pitches for chase burns through three innings. That is walk number two for Mitch Keller. Tyler Stevenson comes to the plate. It was he who walks in the second driven toward right center and that’s trouble to get down and get to the wall and runs pretty well. He’s going to be waved home. Here comes the throw to the plate and he is going to be what a play once again, Henry Davis, the statue of Liberty play that home plate and what a throw from Leo Peguero in shallow right center field all the way around. Just a great defensive play. Jack Soins getting to this wall , this ball out in the right center field wall, throwing a strike to peguero. It as his body was moving in a turn and he threw an absolute strike missile and kind of a half swing grounded to third scooped kind of the first for the out and that’ll do it. Hoitz was ready to throw to third for that fourth out idea. Just in case three, four and five in this pirate order, there’s a hard hit ball to right field towards the wall and off the wall, it’s digging for two. He has a sliding double to lead off the bottom of the fourth. Reynolds has gotten hot since the all star break. That swing we’ve seen so far for the Pirates against burns. Here’s o’neill Cruz line drive left field and a base hit and that scoots past the left fielder lux to the wall bounces around Cruz thought about three and Then holds up at second with a rip roaring double to left to tie the game at one. I had a feeling burns having a hard time getting that slider where he wants it to go full count. You know, he does not want to walk o’neill Cruz in that situation. So he knew he was going to get a fastball for the first out of the inning 12 got him swinging strikeout number seven for burns swing going to miss. They did and they got him down on strikes two outs here in the sixth inning, 87 pitches for Keller. You get a quick out right here on Gavin Lock sending back out for the seventh. He is poked the other way for a base hit that goes all the way to the corner. Gavin Lux. What a tremendous two strike approach to knock a two run, a two out double. That is and keep the inning going. So Keller walks him on four pitches and that is going to be it. Ravich Keller won’t get through this sixth inning. Tyler Stevenson’s going to face a former red teammate. Dry moreta is his line base hit right side around third is lux to score. Cincinnati takes the lead on an RB I double the second double of the night for Tyler Stevenson. Here comes reynolds who struck out and doubled off the wall. He’s able to fan Reynolds 98 with the cheese one and two. Here is the pitch strike three on the inner half at 100 miles an hour strikeout number 10 for chase burns in line for his first major league win. Two outs brings up Tommy Pham 21 reds ground ball base hits and it keeps the inning going. Kiner FFA goes first to third and the Pirates have the tying run 90 ft away. So the Pirates have runners at 1st and 3rd with two outs for Brian Reynolds bouncing ball at tie game. Bruno’s into second Brunner gonna be waved home Marte Bobbles it and the Pirates have the lead reynolds with a tr tr triple. He’s given the lead hits 3 to 2 in the no LV Marte just into the game and right could not grasp the baseball and Pittsburgh takes the lead if the walk in the two strike hit was going to come back and bite the reds and that’s exactly what happened. Swing and a miss struck him out with a breaking ball in the dirt. Cruz is down on strikes but the Pirates rally with two outs to take the lead. Dennis Santana comes out trying to close things out for Pittsburgh and a ground ball to the shortstop. First ball swinging Stevenson rolls it to Triolo who fields it moving to his left and time and Fraley swings the high, deep drive, center field. Cruz is back shy of the track though. He’s got it. And that is the second out in the ninth, Pirates, 33 to 27 here at PNC Park this year. Their struggles have come on the road. They’re trying to beat the Reds for the fourth straight time here at home. The last hope for Cincinnati is the former pirate, ryan Hayes. Of course, it is the Pirates come back to beat the Reds and a body blow to Cincinnati’s playoff chances. That’s all Reds fall 3 to 2 to the Pirates tonight here at BC Park in Pittsburgh and the Pirates have taken the first two games of this four game set. The What a comeback for the Bucks. What a great finish. Brownie this Pirates offensive lineup showing some nice fights and resiliency Brian reynolds getting hot and staying hot with the big blow and great job by the pitchers tonight. Mitch Keller, five and two thirds gave up the two runs.

They seem to do well in those City Connect jerseys…
gunna get swept by the loser pirates…. WAY TO GO REDS!!!!!!!! NO PLAYOFFS.. losers.
Oh boy Cinci. It's there for the Taking.itl be alright for them
Catchers keep blocking the plate, they're going to start getting run over again.
Feel bad for Chase Burns. Marte bobbling the ball 3 times led for the extra run to score or it just would have been 2-2. That's probably it for the Reds playoffs chances unless they go on a last year Tigers type of run.

Thank you Pirates! – Sincerely, Marlins Fan ๐
The Red's radio announcers keep talking about how great Santillian is and all I was thinking is how he was going to give the game away again. Didn't disappoint. Terrible pitcher!!!
The Reds have the most delusional fan base so they will probably think these last two games were CGI.
Wild 8th inning. Great to see Cruz get a double.

Not only has the game changed since the days when Terry francona grew up watching the game and playing but it's changed since he first started managing ๐ข
Well it was a decent season i guess next year cause if you can't beat a simple team like this there's no way your doing anything in the playoffs
