Athletics vs. Orioles Game Highlights (8/9/25) | MLB Highlights

To the 2025 Orioles Hall of Fame induction ceremony. As we gather to celebrate the careers of Orioles broadcaster Tom davis and outfielders Joe Orsulak and adam Jones be honored in the same breath with broadcasters. Chuck Thompson, Bill o’donnell, Joe Angel Fred Manfred Rex Barney is absolutely unbelievable for a kid who grew up in Hamilton Parkville and Towson with a great parents, Milton and Margaret Davis and educated at ST Ursus Calvert Hall and University of Baltimore. It’s quite an honor, but it didn’t take long to realize what a great baseball town Baltimore was. It was fantastic fan night and we had 50,000 people to come see a one in 23 team against. Uh I think the Oakland A’s, they weren’t, they weren’t as good as you are now, but uh that gives you an idea what type the best fans in the league are. If they come to see a team like that Baltimore, been home for 11 years, that was my spot right out there that I took tremendous pride in playing for you guys. But I, you know, I just want to say, thank you for welcoming me , welcoming my family. You guys welcome my mother with such such respect and just, it’s , it’s, you know, hard not to get emotional here, but just thank you. And with that away, we go on a rowdy night, great energy from the moments that the turnstile started to click. We’re seeing bat second for the second time this year. He looking for his first hit in this series against the Orioles after a very good series against the nationals to start this road trip. Buff fly ball to left field Carlson going back, it is a two run over for Shay Lang. The A lead two to nothing. Number 23 for RB 5051. Is he a hot hitter. How about Shay Langelier since the all star break for the home run leaders in the second half, Jackson holiday will lead things off against Jack Perkins Holiday stings and into right field and the Orioles will have a leadoff single. Westbrook will leg it out and the Orioles have a couple of infield singles to get it started down 2 to 0. What do you need? You need base runners and the Os are going to pick up a pair quickly cutter Henderson coming to the plate pitch swinging a high fly ball straight away. Center field Butler going back, stop by the wall, the Orioles before they even made it out. Take the lead back against the number 14 on the season for Gunner Henderson and still nobody out a base hit for Langs and he has not wasted any time finding his pitch here in game two against the Orioles on base for Nick Kurtz. That is 24 consecutive games for the rookie reaching base. So here’s Rooker who flew out to center field his first time up one pitch to Rooker, he drives one to deep left Carlson going back at the track and at the wall, it is into the seats. Rooker with a three run homer. It’s now 5 to 3.A plucking the birds once again, Rooker has a home run that Rooker had in this ballpark in eight games played here to two pitch and he gets a fastball flying it to left center field Allen moving over, he’ll make the catch and Soderstrom will streak home to score the team’s sixth run, hit 6 to 3 athletics and Darryl her has his fifth RBI of the year. A sacrifice fly. Here’s Nick Kurtz. Kurtz has lined out to the center fielder Allen in the first singled and scored in the third. His on base streak to 24 games. Here’s one hopper to Jackson holiday. He’ll fall down, gather and Kurtz beat the throw 105 off the bat of nick Kurtz not able to field it cleanly. Nick Kurtz finds himself on base once again pitch to Rooker that swung on drive down the left field line in the corner. It’s a fair ball. It’s going to one up the wall playing the is Carlson Mart-n is going to wave Kurtz in and he will come in and score. It’s a double for Rooker and the A’s lead 7 to 3. So Rooker another RB I that’s four for the night, give him 70 for the year and the A’s extend their lead. They lead by 4 to 0 pitch that’s grounded on the right side moving to his left, ho scoops it up and throws him out so good piece by shoulder moving Rooker to third. Not a good changeup is in time Rucker for the second out. What a, what a play as the runner goes, the 32 is swung a little dribbler back to the pitcher has trouble with it and everybody’s safe. What a break. Just a routine little roller to geraldo and he did not come up with it cleanly. That’ll be an error in charge of the pitcher and that’ll give a chance in this inning. What a break for the A’s, the runners go the 3 to 2 pitch bounce left side and through for a base hit. Third score. Her will go to third the A lead 8 to 3 with an RB I single. That’s his 22nd of the year Corman Mart-n out of the bullpen , gio as this fifth inning continues. The athletics have tallied a couple of runs down the right field line and that ball is going to fall in for a base hit Jackson trying to be, the diving play will score is around third. He’s coming in the front of the plate and he is safe. He scores on a double from the lead. 10 to 3. Wasted no time getting the business. Gio just kind of spanked it the other way. Butler walks for the second time. Birds out here at the ballpark here is Shay Lang. She is the ninth man to bat in the inning two for three here in game two. And this one to center field well struck out towards the wall. It’s going to hop on over the wall that’s going to cost the A’s a run double scores, shelling making it 11 to 3. But Butler has to go back to third fastballs in real estate, Jenny pitch that swing on I drive to right field but right there is the to make the catch and there is one away and that’s now 13 straight retired by Jack Perkins. The pitch that’s a bust about little pop up in the shallow right center might be trouble but coming into Butler to make the catch for the out and there are two away, one pitch bounced on two ops to Kurtz. He will flip it to Perkins and Jack Perkins won a job 15 straight retired by the right hander after the three run first for the Orioles, the night is finished for Jack Perkins. Six innings, three hits, three earned runs with a walk and five strikeouts, 84 pitches. He collects his first career quality start. He’s in line for his first win of the season, his first win in the big leagues to two pitch and that breaking ball is swung through and missed. So mayo down on strikes for a second time for a strikeout for Kelly Jackson with a fly ball deep out to right field at the track. It will be JJ making the catch and it will send me Castle back to first one inside out swing that’s flied to left on the run as Soderstrom by the line, he slows in foul ground and makes the catch. So four batters faced for Michael Kelly, he gives up a hit , no runs, one hit, no errors, one left on base. Hogan Harris over for Kelly. What a job by Michael Kelly. Two innings. One hit, no runs, no walks, one strikeout off speed, a breaking ball swung on and missed down. He goes foul tipped in L glove. So Vasquez strikes out on the breaking ball. Rutman as the pitch, Harris delivers ground ball up the middle to his left in the second off her throws to first in time and there are two away and the Orioles down to their final out right side. There’s a base hit, that’s the Orioles first hit since the first inning. Luis Vasquez, Vasquez Richman and Mount Castle to two pitch swung on a miss in the A win. It, they have even up the series at one a piece as the A win this ball game by a final score of 11 to three. Rooker four RB I nine multi hits including a three run homer.

  1. Orioles, 3 hits, 3 runs and nothing else until 1 more hit in the ninth. Seems the team is just unmanageable in all areas of the game. They may have a game or two hitting the ball, then a game where they can't field the ball. Then a game or two with good pitching, and they can't hit the ball. OR a game like today!!! No pitching, no hitting, and no fielding!!!
