New York Yankees Highlights: vs Houston Astros | 8/9/25
ready to go with Jeremy Pñena leading off. That ball hit well to left field and we are underway with a solo shot by JP3. Jeremy Pñena, number 12 on the year, connects and the Astros jump in from one to nothing. Jeremy Pñena, who gets things off to an electric start, hitting a rocket into the seats and left. Some of the bleacher creatures haven’t even shown up yet. They’re going to find a baseball in their seat. 404 footer. There goes Alub. The throw got It was a late start by Al. I don’t know if that was a stolen base or he was trying to advance when the ball got away. Yeah, that was almost like a delayed steal and sometimes he’ll try that. See if he takes the hop step two. No, no, he just got a bad read thinking the ball got away from Rice. So Valdez in big trouble right away after giving up six runs to the Red Sox Sunday in Fenway Park. And he walked him. That’ll force it to run. Goldman coming down the third base line when he touches home plate. It’s a one-1 game. Boy, Jordan Baker ripped his mask off. It looked like Valdez really wanted that pitch and he was kind of eyeballing him in there. Two-1 fly ball center field tagging his judge. McCormack with the catch. He fires to second. So a run score sat by for Rice. Yankees take a 2-1 lead. Bellinger moves to third. Stanton stays put at first. contact that he signed with Houston for three years. And he swings and misses through a high fast ball. The one two swing and a miss. Line drive caught by Ramono as he got up and at the top of his jump speared that line drive to take one away from Gisham who’s been hitting in some tough luck in this series. Ramon showing some ups right here. That ball hit pretty well off the bat. Gisham trying to get that base hit over his head but can’t. Good recognition and then elevate. Line drive. Another play byas going to his left. Goldman hit it on the button, but made two fine plays in the inning. This is why Joe Spot has got his best defense out there. Aras getting an opportunity at second base with the Astros snagging a couple of line drives to finish off this inning. You know, it’s just sometimes as a hitter and as a player. Shut up, kid. I’m sprinting. McCormack strikes out. One, two. Chase is upstairs. Albe down on strikes. And the one-two swing and a miss. Big strike out on the slider getting Sanchez and getting out of the jam. hit sharply. A base hit to left center field. Judge had a hold up and he’s going to score easily. Bellinger is going to third. He’ll make it. It’s an RBI single for Stanton. And the Yankees have taken the lead 3-2. Ground ball second base. There’s one. And there’s two. Bellinger scores. And the count the Yankees now lead four to two. So now Altuve will bat with two on and one out. Jose hooks one down the left field line. That’ll be down for a hit in front of Dominguez. Being held and running through the stop sign is Cam Smith. He’ll be safe. Paul gets away. Both runners will advance to second and third. Cam ran through a stop sign and he was able to beat the throw by Dominguez and the Astros within a run. Got a decent jump and challenged the arm of Dominguez. The runners advance an extra 90 ft. Ball four. Game tied at four on a bases loaded walk by Bednar. Deep to right field. There it goes. See youa deep into the second deck. A huge home run for Gisham and the Yankees lead 54. Well, he stays in on a lefty and no doubter Mike. An easy one for you. Just right down the middle. Crushed behind the ball. Just absolutely right down the middle. You see the bench over there immediately. Has three hits today, but none bigger than this. He breaks a 44 tie. A long home run into the second deck. And when it lands, the Yankees lead 54 as we go to the ninth. the one-1 popped up right side and Bellinger with the catch and you could put that under the heading of a much needed victory for the Yankees. Gisham’s home run and the Yankees win 54 to even up the series of the game a piece. Well, it was a big win. I think every win from now here on out is going to be a big win. I think you see the new closer. Bednar has done a good job. Yeah. Yeah.
