Mets vs. Brewers Game Highlights (8/9/25) | MLB Highlights
The Milwaukee Brewers are winners of seven in a row and they continue their series with the Mets who’ve dropped five in a row and nine of their last 10. The Brewers are the only team in Major League Baseball to have multiple eightgame winning streaks this season. Tonight they have an opportunity to do it three times in a season for the first time in franchise history. Tobias Myers, a significant moment for him. Vinnie, his first start, as Sophia mentioned, since the 17th of May’s been good out of the bullpen, tinkering with a few pitches. He was excellent last year. Can he get back on the rails now? Juan Sodto now homered in the first inning yesterday. Swinging and a miss. He struck him out on a change up. Good afternoon, good evening, and good night, Juan Sto. That was an impressive stretch there from Tobias Meyers. One more man to contend with. Startling Martes doing the dhing. Foul tipped and caught by Contrarus. Inning over. Two Ks in a perfect first inning for Tobias Meyers. And it is an opener for the Mets. First ever start for 32-year-old Reed Garrett. Maybe an inning, maybe two, Vinnie, but don’t expect him to be out there long. It’s going to be Frankie Monttos, the former Brewer, who will be the bulk pitcher here today. Check swing, breaking ball. He went around strike three. Collins reached down to try to unbuckle that shin guard, but the third base umpire Will Little punches him out and Reed Garrett will take that. Two up and two down. Swing and a miss. Hard spplitter down and in. Garrett strikes out two in a scoreless and perfect first inning. Pete Alonzo leading off for the Mets. Alonzo hit home run number 251 on Monday night. One away from Daryl Strawberry and the Mets alltime record. Fly ball deep left field. Going back is Collins. Daryl Strawberry. You’ve got some company. 252 home runs. Pete Alonsozo has tied the Mets alltime home run record. How sweet it is. Pete Alonszo has tied Daryl Strawberry with his 252nd home run. tied for the franchise record. It gives the Mets a one- nothing lead in the top of the second. Daryl Strawberry had been alone in first place on the Mets home run list for 37 years. What a moment. Congratulations to the polar bear. Now, talking to Carlos Mendoza today, just just saying we we’re one moment away from kind of blowing something open. In his words, it was the three-run homer, right? big swing, not just take the lead, but just for everybody. The pressure on everybody just find that big swing. And so the Mets had have it set up here. Count goes full. Base is loaded. All three runners will get a head start. Runners go. The pitch is a called third strike on the inside corner. Tobias Meyers locks up Lindor with a change up and gets out of the second inning stranding. The bases loaded. Jeremy Hefner on his way out. And it has been a struggle for Montas, not just tonight, but throughout the year. Vaughn had a single to right. Perkins had a single to right. Sigler walked. Matt stranded. The bases loaded in the top of this inning. Now the Brewers have them full with two away. Ortiz hitting 263. He’s five for 19 with the bases loaded. Ground ball towards the middle in door. Off his glove and into center. That’ll score two runs and the Brewers have the lead. A high chopper over the mound behind the second base bag. Lindor looked like he had a shot to make the play. It went off the top of his glove and Joey Ortiz drives in a pair. It’s been really, really crazy to see as the Mets have been at times spiraling these last few weeks how it’s happened. Guys with great names on the back of their jerseys struggling. Here’s Starling Marte. Went two for four last night. A double, a home run. Two of the Mets five hits against the Brewers. Marte to right field. Going back is Freelick at the track. Leaping. It’s gone. Starling Marte ties the game at two. Backto back nights with a home run for Stling Marte. How good has he been for the Mets and they needed it. They needed Joel. A veteran presence in the midst of some offensive struggles. He homered yesterday. He homers today. And because he homered yesterday, he’s in the three spot in the lineup to do exactly that. And speaking of opportunities, here’s a guy who can give him the lead. Here’s Pete Alonzo. It’s out sharply. Look at Ortiz and the throw is perfect. Joey O with a gem on a bullet off the bat of Pete Alonzo. 109 off the bat of Alonzo. It got on Ortiz in a hurry. Boy, he made that look so much easier than it was. Oh, it gets by Alvarez. Contras to second base and the go ahead run in scoring position now. Two and two runner at second now for Yelich. Swinging a miss. Yell down on strikes for the second time tonight. Two away. Big strike out for Montas. Two outs now. Here is Vaughn. King Vaughn as the t-shirt says. Payoff pitch to Vaughn. Swing a bouncing ball back towards the middle. McNeel has it to his right behind the bag. Sidearm throw to first in time for the out and Frankie Montas in and out of trouble in the third. The throw to second, the tag is not in time. A hustle double for Jeff McNeel. And the Mets have the go-ahead run in scoring position here in the top of the fourth. A McNeel’s first hit of the night. And that might be it for Meyers. So Tobias Meyers, his night is done. Three and a third. Line not closed though. He is responsible for both runners on. Now he’s going to turn it over to Aaron Ashby. The left-hander will face left-handed hitting Cedric Mullins. hitting out of the nine spot way outside off the glove of Contrarus rolling towards the on deck circle. Both runners will walk to the next base. McNeel to third, Alvarez to second. Second and third with one away and the Mets looking to cash in against Aaron Ashby. Breaking ball swung on serve. Shallow right. Freelick coming in. He won’t get there. It falls in a base hit. McNeel comes in to score. Alvarez goes to third. Cedric Mullins is at first with an RBI single. And the Mets have a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning. And the extra 90 ft on that wild pitch. The difference right there. So runners at the corners now for Francisco Lindor. Ground ball to third. Bobbled by Seagler. Gets up. Throws to second for one. The turn by Terang. Oh my goodness. It’s in time. Wow. What a turn by Bryce Tang. And Lindor is totally frustrated. How could you not be? Hit that one on the nose and it had to take some perfect defense. Next man up, Bryce Terra. Flighted out in the second into center field. Terra gets into one. That’s got a chance. It’s up. It is out. Bryce Terra has homeward in his second consecutive game. Just like that, we are tied. Just like last night. And just like last night, Terra jumps on the first pitch. This kid has some pop. He has found his power stroke as of late. Fifth inning in Milwaukee Square at three. Juan Sodto to the plate. Sodto against lefty Aaron Ashby. Swinging a drive though deep right center field. Felix going back. This one on the way and gone. The lead right back to the Mets. Juan S homers for the third time in as many games and he gives the Mets a 43 lead in the top of the fifth. Home run number 28 into the Met bullpen in right center field. And in this seessaw game, the Mets are back in front by a run. We definitely have ourselves a situation here in Milwaukee. Keith, if you’re if you’re out in right field, yeah, the the roof is closed, but it’s raining on you. You’re getting dumped on a little bit. And here we go to the sixth. And it’s the Brewers debut, Vinnie, for Shelby Miller. And this is a key acquisition for Matt Arnold at the trade deadline from the Diamondbacks. Here’s the pitch. And a wave of the miss. It gets by the catcher. Alvarez heading to first base. He’s going to make it. It’s a strike out and a wild pitch as Contraras could not corral it. Certainly a catchable ball with a breaking ball from Miller, but Alvarez will reach on the strikeout. Inning will continue to Cedric Mullins. Ground ball right at Seagler. He throws a short way to second base. Miller puts up a zero in his Brewers debut. It’s a great Brewers bullpen and they’ve held the Mets down to give their offense a chance to come back tonight. Terraang led off with a single. There’s one away. Ortiz put the ball in play in the second resulted in an error that led to the first two runs. Ortiz right field. That is sinking. It is down fair and it bounces out. It’ll be an automatic double for Ortiz. Death by paper cuts and the Brewers are in business now in the seventh with runners at second and third and one out. Mets bring their infield in. Al Frick one of the many on the Brewers. Great with runners in scoring position. He’s got two runs. Freick puts it in play. Here comes Terang. No play at the plate. put the ball in play and this game is tied at four. S does it again fighting for his life with two strikes and he delivers the RBI and that’ll be the end of the line for Ryan Stannic. It’s going to be Ryan Helley the key pickup at the trade deadline for David Sterns and the Mets. Isaac Collins at the plate. Collins has some great history against Ryan Helley. He is three for three against him. That’s the go-ahead run 90 ft away. Collins bouncing ball. Mauricio boots it in. The score is Ortiz and the Brewers have a 54 lead and the man Mendoza brought in for defense cannot corral it. It is scored as a hit and an RBI. A play that Mauricio should have made. And Isaac Collins with some major onage over one of the best arms in baseball, Ryan Helley. And that one is scorched into right field. But backing up to grab it is Sodto. Or was it time violation? No pitch. Wow. Ryan Helley doesn’t see the homeplayed umpire Ryan Additton telling him to get back on the mound. Second straight night something like this has happened. Last night it was catchers interference and this time a pitch clock violation on Helsley and that erases an out. He’s got new life. And Contra deep left center. on a two-run blast. Seven to four Milwaukee. How about that? After the miscue at third base by Ronnie Mauricio could have been out of the inning. And then William Contrarus with his 10th homer of the year. 49th RBI. These Brewers taking advantage of every single mistake. Avenue reb now with the Brewers up seven to four. 30 holes on the season which leads all of Major League Baseball. This is another situation where he could earn another hold. Rebe has been a striketh throwing machine in this eighth inning. Trying to strike out the side and he got him. What an inning. 15 pitches, 13 strikes, and he strikes out the side in the eighth. Abner Uribe is a dude. Trevor McIll three outs away from winning a series against the Mets. He’s got a 74 lead right now. Mets have their first hit since the fifth. First base runner since the seventh. Francisco Lindor 0 for four. He struck out twice. The two balls he’s put in play were hit right on the nose. Lindor strikes out. High cheese from Trevor McIll. Two outs here of the ninth. And the Mets are down to their final out. Sodto can’t beat him. Check swing. Yes, he did. Ball game over. Trevor Miguel seals win number eight in a row for the Brewers. Miguel strikes out Sodto. A scoreless ninth. Eight consecutive wins for the Brew Crew. And the Mets drop their sixth consecutive game. 7 to four the final.

Being a Mets fan must be a miserable experience.
This is awesome to witness

Do it for Uke 🎉
#DoItForBob
That was one heck of a complete team effort to persevere and get the win. Good to see Myers back on the mound. Let's Go Brewers!
I feel like Gary cohen always misses the big calls
The Brewers are on fire 🔥🚒
You have to play perfect baseball against this team. They WILL make you pay for mistakes
Was there, this game was amazing.
out to a 2 run homer haha
You got to be perfect to beat the Crew!
Mets fan here. I just want to say how much I admire your organization. How do you do it in a small market? It seems you lose key players every year and still maintain excellence. Juan Soto is everything wrong with the Mets. He breaks up a no-hitter with a home run, but is happy and smiling as his team loses. 21 of his 27 homers have come with the bases empty. Best of luck to you guys.
Damn an error and a pitch violation leading to 4 runs was the difference in this game. Brewers have a lead or tie middle of the game going into late game is almost automatic with one of the best bullpens in baseball. Exciting time to be s brewers fan.
Way to go Brewers. Keep taking advantage of competitors mistakes. Wow mets are just handing games to opponents.
CONTRERAS 👏🏽
!Increibles los cerveceros¡.
You have no idea how much I despise those Brewers uniforms.
Anyone else notice how the broadcast crew seemingly ignored the fact there were small deluges of rain leaking into AFF? At least I didn’t hear BA say a word about it.
Looking at games 1 & 2 , I really can't say which game was the best, both games felt like playoff classics..
Is it funny or did the Brewers take their supposed "lack of power" to heart from what all of the "experts" were saying that they needed at the trade deadline? They have shown that they have power when they need it, but they don't rely on the long ball to win every game. Andrew Vaughn has been on fire, Brice Turang has been absolutely phenomenal all season, and William Contreras has crushed a few bombs as well. Oh and Joey Ortiz has saved more hits and runs with his amazing defensive skills again and again! And his bat has been coming through as well! Everyone on this team has been a huge part of this team's success. From great baserunning to incredible defense. Timely hitting to exceptional pitching. Up and down this roster every player has contributed in some way and it has been so much fun to watch! Their 2nd 8-game winning streak! This team continues to show everyone that they are for real and they are not taking their foot off of the gas! What a special group of players!
And once again Fox TV's Game of the Week was of course the St.Louis Cardinals vs. the Chicago Cubs instead of Fox and the MLB showing the team with the BEST Record in ⚾️Baseball⚾️? 🤔🤔Huh🤔🤔 isn't that odd? 🤔🤔🤔🤔 It once again proves that the MLB has absolutely no respect or desire to show or promote the Milwaukee Brewers at all. It's getting to be very frustrating and a slap in the face to the Brewers fans and their organization. Every week it's either the Billion Dollar Dodgers, the Deep Pocketed Yankees, the Braves, or the Cubs. I thought since the Brewers were playing another New York team, that being the Mets, that they might get a chance to be on National Television? Nope.
Welcome back Tobias
That scene at the 11:14 mark of the video when Trevor Megill is coming into the game looks absolutely fantastic! It reminds me of the Rock Concerts I've seen back in the early 80's into the early 90's. Everything went dark then the place ERUPTED AND THEY BLEW THE ROOF OFF OF THE BUILDING! This HAS to be a really great experience! Do they play any music for Megill for his walk into the game?
The brewers keep winning and still no sports radio or tv network is talking about them. Give us the respect we EARNED and yes I say "we" because we TRUE fans of the Brewers are apart of the team.
Take that Mets. How about this team huh? Let's go Brewers clap clap clap clap clap clap.
Ashby is terrible, ball looks like it’s being lobbed every pitch…
not to nitpick but…a 2-hopper right at the guy, booted…scored a hit? I disagree.
Derrel Strawberry would be my name if i were a gay porn star. I would also be black.
Talk about exciting baseball 😮
Brewers are all in a zone, every Brewer contributes
I'M GOING TO THE GAME ON THE BUS W/MY BROTHER TO THE UECKER GAME!!! Aug 24
11:05 was Uribe trying to do a Lamar Jackson edit
The only card the Mets have to play is solo home run. Just like the Cubs
I said that once Bob died. Most are late saying it!
Even tho I was rooting for the Mets to win (cubs fan) this was definitely one of the most exciting games I’ve ever been to
Hi, I am a young diehard fan. I don’t live near Milwaukee, but I always love to watch your games on TV. Keep it going. We need to see our first World Series here.
I wonder why Front Row Amy moved from her usual seat. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen her do that.
