Athletics vs. Orioles Game Highlights (8/10/25) | MLB Highlights

Orioles won a tight one on Friday. A’s won running away last night here at the yard. And now the teams both trying to win this series as we head into game three. Lefty Kate Povich at two and six the 525 RA in 14 games. He’s started 13 of them. And the way you want to face Nick Curts, two outs, bases empty. He’ll take a pitch, he’ll take a walk. Four straight balls to Nick Curts and he’s on with two outs. spring of Colobby Thomas, the rookie out of first on this road trip with a home run. This time it’s popped up and it’ll be playable in foul territory for Mount Castle. They’ll take on Luis Morales making his first major league start as one previous major league appearance in a two-inninging relief role. Jackson Holiday to lead things off. Yeah, he singled the lead off the game yesterday. And there’s an example that ball somewhere around the outside corner for a walk. Lead off base runner on for the Orioles. Here’s Gunner. A three-run homer yesterday in the first. Now it’s 14 on the year. As you see the average in OPS tenure to climb the 1-1 a one hopper. Daryl Hern able to glove it and get it to second for the one out. Gets the lead runner and Jackson Holiday two gone. What a fantastic play by Daryl Hern. This ball barreled up hit very hard. I mean that is a one hot missile to the backhand of Hernese who’s able to get back to it and gather it and gives a little backhand shovel over to Max Schuman. Roman now the batterie the DH today. Henderson is going. Curveball taken high. A wild throw by Macyver sails over the infielders and out to center field. Gunnar Henderson will pick up his 16th stolen base and he had that pocket picked on the pitcher Luis Morales. And there’s ball four. Second walk allowed in this inning. First and second with two outs. And now Mount Castle will bat. There they go. And that’s ball four. Another walk. The third walk of the inning for Morales. And the bases are loaded for the rookie Jeremiah Jackson as Scott Emerson, the A’s pitching coach, will come out and have a chat with his young right-hander. Morales delivers. Swung on and missed. He gets out of it unharmed. Luis Morales finds away his first strike out. No runs, no hits. Three walks, three left. Kovich was very efficient in that first inning. Nine pitches for him. So JJ Blade will now come up with his return to the Athletics. He has been a completely different looking player. JJ into right and that’ll bounce in front of Jackson and JJ Blade with a hit picking up where he left off yesterday. So a one out base runner as Povich will work on Archella. Truck him out and that’s 92. But once again, he has the ability to pitch up in the zone. Now is he when he’s his best he’s up and into the righties and then down away with a kick change up. This is a nice four seamer gets him to chase. Ground ball to second base. Holiday a flip to Henderson side retired. Inning and a half gone by still zero on the board here in Baltimore. Luis Morales out for a third inning of work. Don’t know how long they’re going to keep him out there. Westber 0 for one. Popped out to the catcher in foul ground. Willie Macyver the 22 and a swing and a miss. Executes the slider setup perfectly. And that right there is all you want to see happen. If you’re not able to execute initially, but you don’t get hurt, can you come back? Can you throw a better one? 3-2 and a called strike three at the top of the zone. Henderson was already walking on over to first, but it was directly in the strike zone. Back-to-back strikeouts now for Morales and he has now sat down five straight. Pitch from Morales is high and Rutman will walk. And here comes Marqu. That’s five walks for Morales and this could be the day for the starter. It is will go to the bullpen and get Tyler Ferguson. The day is done for Luis Morales. Yes, five walks but four strikeouts seem to settle in a little bit better. Jeremiah Jackson opens up the home fourth inning of this scoreless affair to left field and down the line. And that is off the wall and it cars away from the left fieldielder. Blade Jackson streaking towards third base and he will make it with a belly flop. His first major league triple. Well, the book on him is to try to get him out with breaking balls, but Ferguson hangs it. And when you do, it stays up. It’s more hitable right here. I mean, there’s a hanger. We’ve seen a lot of strange bounces. And there’s the speed factor. Easily into third. And now Greg Allen will bounce. squeeze is on a safety squeeze and he gets it down and MacGyver is able to tag him out. MacGyver tags out Jeremy Jackson going by. What a play by Willie. It was a safety squeeze and it was bunted down the third base line and Willie somehow someway in some manner able to get the swipe tag on Jeremiah Jackson. Now Ben’s going to come in for the second time in this weekend series. There are the numbers. Not a lot of innings obviously six and a third but again you know he’s got to have a pretty good arm. Second rounder by the Rockies. Jordan Westber for the Orioles. Westber gets into one to left. Way back it goes. And that baby is long gone. First run of the game. A solo homer for Jordan Westbird. That’s one of those no doubt about first hit of the weekend gives the Orioles a one- nothing lead. Brent Brooker coming up to bat and look where he’s at in terms of MLB hits leaders. 128 hits now. Let’s tie with Mikel Garcia. It’s early in the season. And that’s going to get past a diving Westber at third. Brent Rooker will have an extra base hit added to his total. We just showed you now 129 hits on the season. Two for three here today. Well, there’s one job to do right now, and that’s how do we get Brent Rooker over to third. We’d love to get him in. I think you have the exact right man at the plate right now. Here’s a ground ball to short and that should get the job done. Rooker over 90 ft from home to tie the game. Thomas 0 for two today against Kade Povich. And Colby into the outfield. Here comes the tying run and Brent Rooker and he’ll pick up a nice RBI here in the sixth. Kobe Thomas with a hard hit ball that gets through Gunnar Henderson. Yeah, Gunnar Henderson wondering how in the world he he didn’t make that play. The ball was smoked by Kobby Thomas. I thought for a moment there he was going to get robbed there by Gunnar Henderson. Just didn’t get under his glove. You know that feels good for Colobby. Alex Jackson scheduled to come up here in the bottom of the seventh inning of this one game. And he pops up the first pitch. Curts battling the sun back at the bag and he can’t make the play. It’s a fair ball and Jackson will get to second base. I mean, what a development in this ball game. Well, what did I say earlier? Anytime you get into a nothing nothing ball game, it can be anything. It can be a bloop double. It can be a pop fly that you don’t really see well. And now Tony Manelino will turn to his bench and Kobe Mayo will pinch it for Jordan Adams. It gets away from the catcher and Jackson will get to third. Yeah, we had Jackson last inning with a pass ball and now McGyver infield in for the Ace. And that’s a rope to the gap in left center field and that’s a base hit. Mayo gives the Orioles the lead. A pinch hit double and it’s two to one Baltimore. Eighth double of the year. Shawn Nukem the left-handed reliever in his 36th appearance. Two and five. 3.12 ERA to face Jackson Holiday with a runner on second. That’s Kobe Mayo. Holiday takes ball four. Well, Jordan Westbrook with the home run his last time up. Two on and one out here in the seventh at Luis Sorius. He dives back to second and the double play. What a play by Louie. Snag the lighter out of thin air. Score that a four unassisted double play to end the seventh inning. Two to one Orioles now. Yer Canó on for at least one batter in this top of the eighth. And it’s a tough one. And Brent Rooker and a miss. He struck him out. Well, perfect pitch. And we talked about it again. When you’re a sinker baller and you throw a ball on a 3-2 count to a a good hitter, he’s got to chase because it starts in the strike zone and sinks to the bottom of the zone. So, Canó does his job. He will leave this game. Orioles go back to their bullpen with a two to1 lead in the eighth. The two-2 called strike three. Boy, center cut. We’ve seen GS as good as he is. He’s struck out three times in this on fast balls. Three and two right down the middle of the plate. And that’s a cold strike three. How about the dominant pitching by Baltimore in the eighth? Kadau starts it to get Rooker down swinging. Kirks and Thomas go down looking. And now Keegan Aken, he’s pitched in the ninth inning his last four starts, couple of saves. He’s got five lifetime and we saw him the other night get a save. and Hern will walk down to first. Done that a couple times this series against the team that drafted him. The batter double play would end this ball game. Just swung a hard ball into left field for a base hit. Hern base. He will there. So Gio comes through and the A’s now at first and second. One out for Willie Macyver. But Lawrence Butler is going to run for Urella here in the ninth inning. And that’s the go-ahead run. So Law will run it first. Jay’s have first and second and one out for Willie. And Willie is bounced out, walked and struck out. Pitch. So Willie McGyver swings at it into left field and that’s going to drop down. Here comes the tying run in her. Lawrence Butler flying behind him and he’s going to go home. Can he get around it? He does. A’s take the lead three to two. Well, Lawrence Butler, I tell you right now, thank goodness there was not a highway patrolman sitting around third base. He ran right through that stop sign. A’s with two big runs on two hits. A walk and one left with the eight and a half. It’s the A’s three and the Orioles two. Alvarado who has stayed aboard after taking over the pitching for the Athletics in the eight. Here’s the 2-2 and he got him. Alvarado coming up big with his first major league win. And a great way to answer, I think, after what you got out of the rest of the guys who came in behind you. The first big league start for Luis Morales. We understood there was going to be a bit of an abbreviated as far as pitch count was concerned, but this offense, Jenny, continuing to do just enough in the moment to keep that line moving and it resulted in a Meal.

  1. Over the last several games, I have seen some terrible defense from Baltimore. Including the sub catcher. Usually, the new kids are the ones kicking the ball around the yard.

  2. SELL THE TEAM. JOHN FISHER!
these boys deserve to grow together as a team and compete for championships. You’re in love with money and your own self-importance, not your community or winning.
