Cubs vs. Cardinals Game Highlights (8/10/25) | MLB Highlights

Thanks for hanging around with us. Better, late than never an hour rain delay. We’re set to resume one of the baseball’s biggest and best rivalries. The route 66 I 55 series. It’s time for the third and decisive game of this three game series between the Chicago Cubs and the ST Louis Cardinals. Sonny Gray was really good. His last time out that was against the Dodgers. He went seven innings in that game and only gave up one hit and one run. Sonny Gray loves pitching in ST Louis and the numbers show it 30 starts a 316, a at home one away. Here is Suzuki hits this one hard, center field. Nobody is going to be able to get to that. Victor Scott picks it up. Suzuki is aboard Lowe, a walk to Carson Kelly two on for Pete Crow Armstrong. Here is Pete Crow Armstrong and a big spot for him. One for 27 over his last seven, 3 to 0. They green light him. It’s going to be a race to first. It’s Gray who beats Armstrong. A 3 to 0 to help the struggling young hitter and he grounds out. They leave two aboard. Imana will start for the Cubs. He’s 8 to 4 with a 3.12. Er, a Imana is coming off a quality start against Cincinnati six and one third innings on Tuesday night, one run on three hits walks. He struck out seven with two down in the batter. Now is wilson Contreras that is fouled off at home plate fouled off Wilson Contreras 1 to 2 and he threw that cutter or slider right in on wilson Contreras who fouled it off his left leg and he’s taking a moment outside the batter’s box to shake off the sting leg seems to be better bounce first win the race to Contreras diving in head first and Busch takes a close play but it goes to the Cubs Alec Burleson first up for ST Louis bottom of inning. Number two swing and a Miss strike three. That’s out. Number one, it’s his first strikeout of the game walker for the series is four for eight, a home run, two runs batted in swing and a miss strike three walker chased a low splitter down in the dust back to back strikeouts for strike three. Shonda strikes out the side here in the second Sony Gray who’s had some traffic in the first two innings but was able to put up a couple of zeros swing and a Miss Gray starting to warm himself. That is back to back strikeouts. He got shot in the second and now Busch to lead off here, swing and a Miss Suzuki will jog down to first throw out there three consecutive strikeouts. Anything you can do. I can do better. Ienaga struck out the side in the top half. The breaking pitch is a called strike three on the outside corner. He doesn’t like the call, but Sonny Gray indeed strikes out the side in the top of the third inning. It’s a leadoff single for Thomas J Pedros right handed batting catcher steps in next pitch is hit high in the air to deep left center field. That’s going back to the track two Cardinals in the third inning. His eighth home run of the year into the bleachers in left field. I had retired six straight but the Cardinals get to him here in the third. He Cron Armstrong came up with two on and two down in the first and grounded out to first. There’s a line drive base hit to right. He hit it a little bit out on the end of the bat. Not a real solid line drive, but the way Pete has been struggling , run zero for in the series before this at bat. That had to feel good. He’ll grab a lead. He’s got 29 stolen bases. Armstrong grabs another lead. He’s off. Here’s the throw and he has stolen his 30th of the year. Armstrong took a crow hop and he kept going three home runs away from the 3030 season already. Be careful about him trying to steal third Mason Nguyen trying to keep him close. And the pickup sneaking in behind Armstrong says he might be safe and we’ll see what craig Counsell says. He says play on a pick off at the second base bag outstanding work by the Cardinals and Pete Crow Armstrong can’t believe it. And the 2 to 2 delivery to half is swung on and that is now five strikeouts for Sonny Gray as he’s pitched four scoreless. The home plate umpire Edwin Jimenez getting a chance to call a lot of strikes for both Imana and Sonny Gray in the early going. You wonder if the hitters will become more aggressive as we move along on the ground to third backhanded. Shaw is nice play very, very good there at third base. He retires walker and through four innings on Sunday night, it stays 2 to 0 cubs with three hits tonight. All singles, Suzuki Swanson and Armstrong, a bouncing ball hit to third on a belt high hop by the third baseman. Gorman is throw to first is off line and Swanson is safe. They’re going to give the error to Gorman on the throw. So E five, let’s see if the Cubs can take advantage of the error by Gorman Shaw coming to play today. Red hot since the all star break hitting at 333 in 19 games. Shaw swings hits a high fly ball deep left Burleson going back at the track near the wall. He leads with a two run home run into the Cubs bullpen in left and his hot streak continues and just like that, the Chicago Cubs answer back. That’s taken advantage right there in the extra out. Well, so far in the tense here. I and both of these guys have been pitching ahead in the count. You know, both guys have been really dominant tonight. Think about it. It was an error and a home run scored a two, the Cubs, a single roll over ground ball to the left side and Then a home run for ST Louis kind of similar for both teams that breaks a streak of 14 consecutive batters retired by Iman in scoring position with his six stolen bag. Those long strides to Jordan Walker will try to bear down Gorman looking for that big swing and a base hit to right field. He’s heading home the David and is Nolan for the Cardinals take the lead. Nolan Gorman delivers in the seventh, a clutch two out two strike hit for Gorman puts the Red Birds on top. Talk about manufacturing a run though. Walker delivers that single, a stolen base and Then Gorman with two strikes sends one to right and the Cubs have men at the corners with two down looking for another big hit. The Cardinals got theirs in the seventh, the Cubs since July the 8th and 9th inning runs hard to come by grounded to the shortstop, Nguyen throws him out the Cubs strand two Romero and the pen get it done. Big for birdie. Now comes in to run. He’s going on the first pitch to second. The tag at second base is thrown out. The hand came off the bag when JC put the tag down on birdie, a great job by keeping the glove down and the Cubs are down to their last out. And my goodness, this is a game of inches that just changed everything that called at second base and the Cubs now have the run at second and the potential go ahead run at first. Just a typical Cubs Cardinals game. That’s what this is going right down to the final play. Two outs, two on Cubs trail 3 to 2. 9th inning. The 1 to 1 pitch here for Shaw swing and a ground ball right to JC. He steps on second. That’s a Redbird winner and a series win over the Chicago Cubs. Light it up in downtown ST Louis. The Cardinals take two out of three from the Cubs winning a one run game tonight. 3 to 2.

  1. Poor wittle Shitcago. They are playing a team that isn't powder-puff competition and they are getting exposed! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Go Redbirds! My man Mitt ๐Ÿฅฐ and I know they are taking the NL Central, making the postseason again and snagging another World Series trophy to tack onto their growing collection. ๐Ÿ†

  2. Ump with the wrong call saying the tag beat him to the bag, wrong. Then infield angle seems to show that his hand flared up but his palm/wrist maintain contact, NY geniuses fixate on outfield angle where flying dirt is covering up the white of the bag to provide the illusion that it may have come off completely for a millsecond and the bad out call that had nothing to do with that stands. lol replay

  3. Wow – I have been a Cubs fan for 48 years and I have watched this years team struggle with injuries to our ace and a GM that doesnโ€™t know how to make deals at the deadline, I have always respected the Cardinals and Brewers as rivals but all I hear here is hate and jealousy because you the Cubs have the future.

  4. PCA looked safe on replay. The tag was down but it was down on the ground, not his arm. And Berti was clearly safe. His arm was clearly pushed off the bag, which is not supposed to result in an out.
