Out of curiosity I was searching teams' ticket sales over the years. I wasn't following the Angels closely enough back then to know, what was the reason for the bump in ticket sales in 2016?

  1. Quick search really doesn’t show anything. I was wondering if maybe Pujols was chasing a milestone, but doesn’t look like it. I’d concur with u/finbarrgalloway and it looks like noise. Unless maybe the giveaways or fan engagement was just really good that year.

  2. After 11 years of being Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and it not hurting, I sincerely doubt dropping of Anaheim did anything to the fan base except make them roll their eyes. We had come to terms with how dumb the name change was long agk

  3. This is most likely just an error in the data. A 40% drop for no apparent reason is very unlikely.

  4. Two words: Mike Trout, must see TV (or in person)

Two more words: Pokémon go? My brother went to a game with me that year and he doesn’t like baseball just to play it there lol

  5. Maybe there was a lot of optimism after missing the playoffs by one game in 2015? Perhaps a big first couple months of ticket sales that disproportionately created a higher average?
