Michael Porter Jr.: “My brother, for example, struggled with gambling. My vice has always come in the form of women… My brother Jontay, he never seemed to struggle with that vice. You know, I never struggled with the gambling addiction. I never struggled with that vice. God gave me a lot of money”

  1. Hmm so first he said players are experimenting sexually beyond women because they get bored by always getting any woman they want… and now this

  2. Jontay Porter signed a 3 year, $5.85 million dollar contract with $2.2 million dollars guaranteed when he was 21 years old.

“God gave him” a lot of money too.

  3. The yarn some guys try and spin to excuse certain behaviour is so funny to me man. They always use God as an excuse or a reason as to why they act a certain way… Which is such a cop out imo.

“When I’m far from God… That seems to be the place that the Devil gets me is in the space of women”

It’s 2025 and people still talk and think like this. It’s crazy to me haha. Blaming the Devil for getting laid lol.

This behaviour is most likely exacerbated by having everything that society deems attractive at such a young age – The height, the physique, the money, being a pro athlete… These dudes have gained a life time’s worth of wealth before they’re even legal to drink. They’re bored AF. It’s not “normal” or healthy for people to be in this situation despite all the cool inanimate objects that can be purchased along the way. People end up lonely.

Also there is a genetic component to addiction. Genetic factors can account for 40-60% of a person’s vulnerability to addiction. This means that certain genes can make individuals more susceptible to developing addictive behaviors, though environmental factors also play a crucial role (In this case money, job and looks).

  4. “My vice is that I’m amazing. God likes me more that he likes my brother”

  5. This guy comes across as one of those religious nutters that’s actually a pos but thinks its fine because he believes God

  6. There’s a big difference between admitting your vice is gambling addiction and admitting your vice is women which is basically calling yourself a nymphomaniac.

Most people understand the detriments of gambling or drug addiction right away. They know it can wreck your life, they know rehab is a thing, and they tend to be naturally sympathetic. Nymphomania, on the other hand, isn’t as well studied or understood, and people aren’t naturally sympathetic to it.

When the average person hears “I struggle with pursuing women” or “I can’t control myself in relationships,” they’re going to think:

    * If you’re single: “That’s not a problem, you’re just lucky.”
    * If you’re in a relationship: “Just stop cheating.”

And unlike gambling or drugs, there’s often a jealous undertone. People hear it as a humble brag, not an actual problem. That’s exactly how this comes off here.

If Porter really meant this as an honest admission, it’s hard for people to take it seriously because the way it’s framed sounds more like a flex than a struggle. Maybe next time he wants to bring attention to this issue, he can avoid throwing his brother’s addiction under the bus first.

  7. The whole “away from God” thing I get but at the same time seems to be used as a cop out. Also saying athletes or people with money sleeping around (cheating I guess) is something he doesn’t do and something he’s never been cool with seems like a shot at others to make his own “vice” – the exact same thing as he doesn’t clarify sleeping around – seem okay because he’s not doing it (as often) or is aware of his addiction. Just odd all around. At least when you do this, be 100% honest and just say you do give in to the addiction and want to stop. Lastly, bringing up his brother makes sense if you are going to discuss that addiction is a disease and could be passed down (genetically), but here it seems like a way to again make his own vice seem okay. I don’t even care about whoever he has sex with and he doesn’t have to explain it at all, trans or not, but it’s a bit coincidental to put this out when he got “caught” with a transperson recently.

  8. The Porters are god-fearing people?? The actions don’t exactly align. On second thought, maybe they do.

  9. “Unusually stupid” is something my friend said about him and it kinda fits like a glove.

I still like the guy, he has heart.

  10. We have to start teaching athletes that just because a mic or camera in front of you doesn’t mean you need to start talking into it.

  11. I get too much pussy. My brother doesn’t seem to have that problem. His vice is losing money… so I guess we’re similar in a way🤷‍♂️

  12. “I’m rich, have sex, broke virgin brother has a gambling addiction, what can I say God has a plan”
