Boston Red Sox vs Houston Astros Condensed Game Recap – August 11, 2025
And tonight, deep in the heart of Texas, the Red Sox take on the Astros in Houston. It is a big night here with Alex Brickman returning to face his old team, Carlos Koreah, playing his first game back with the Astros here in Houston. And it’s an even bigger night for us in the booth because look who’s in the house. Uncle Kev joining Lumaloney and TC and I. Thanks so much for being with us, partner. Always a pleasure. Thank you for having me and hope you don’t tank it. Well, you know, Alex Bregman did nothing but win in about nine years with the Houston Astros. Coming back here, he’s bound to be a little emotional tonight. 100%. Anytime you get a chance to come back, twotime World Series champion, Alex Bregman, obviously you deserve all of it, right? The ovations. And this is home, so there’s always that emotional side. Your house is here. There’s family and friends. You got ticket requests. José Aluba, he’s the only guy he’s taller than, so that’s a good thing there, Lou. You know that feeling right there. But this is all about a baseball player and all he does is win win win. I love that song to OB. And he’s here at Boston. What a career he had in Houston. Our stats with Lowe’s. Looking back at those numbers, just incredible what he did. The number two pick in the draft when he was taken back in 2015. Helped lead the Astros to eight straight playoff trips. It’s a run that included seven consecutive trips to the ALCS and of course two championships. Needless to say, the trip to the ballpark today was a trip down memory lane for Bregman. But it’s it it’s awesome. Uh it’s great to be back here. So many great memories. Um so much love for the people here in Houston. Um the fans, uh my teammates, the coaches, this entire organization. um had just an amazing time here. Uh I’ll be forever grateful uh to the Astros organization and um it’s uh it’s great to be back. Swinging a high fly ball left field. That ball is deep. Back it goes. And that ball is gone. How about Alex Bregman? first at bat returning to Houston and he hits that one into the Crawford boxes. Is that what it’s all about right there? We just saw a ceremony like you said a few minutes before the game. You get the ovation and then you get the 1-1 breaking ball chest high top hand and off the back of the facade for a two-run home run. Alex Bregman, I tell you right now, ball player. Yeah. And they’re not waiting around. You know, Javier had five rehab outings. His last outing he only went three and 2/3. Maybe he goes 85 pitches. You don’t really know what the stuff is like. The slider has been fantastic. And that’s the pitch you just launched. Peeking into the camera there and taking a shot for a two-run homer. That Red Sox homer brought to you by Audi. Visit your New England Audi dealer today. The hanger right there. Middle up. And I’m telling you, at this level, you don’t get away with those. You don’t get away with those with guys that can hit. Crochet fires and strikes him out. 99 Garrett Crochet. See a little extra life here from Garrett. First pitch of the game of Pena was 97. He gears this one up at 99 miles an hour. Just nodding. Dry second at bat. Rocher trying to become the first man in the big leagues to win 14 games tonight. And only Skins has a lower starter erra. Swinging a miss that fooled him badly and struck him out. And he fans two in the first inning. I mean, he’s everything you want, right? As a big ace. He’s a stopper. You don’t go through miserable 10ame losing streaks with guys like him on your staff, right? cuz there’s times, you know, you’re not hitting or bullpen might not been doing their job, but you always got you always got this security blanket with a guy like Garrick Crochet. One, two, got him. He swung and missed on the sweeper. It’s three strikeouts among the first five Astros tonight. Is 3-2 on the way and that is strike three. And that was nasty. Right on the black to strike out Aras. back door cutter now too. I mean, cuz this cutter is usually used in her half. You giving up on it as a hitter and we’re going to come back and paint with that now. And that stays away. You know, it’s like a strike out to Diaz. It kind of went down. It didn’t go quite go in. The bar was a setup in there that just painted away. Korea hit 405. He was over nine games and a base hit to right. That will send Smith home. And the Astros are on the board with three consecutive hits against Garrett Crochet to make it two to one. He didn’t do a lot here in this one, right? Comes with the fast ball. Koreah just shortens it up, puts it in play, finds a hole. You not trying to drive the ball at the ballpark there. You know, you got a tough guy in Crochet. That hole’s wide open to get that run in. High fly left center field deep. That’s way way back there. That’s going to be out of the track. One run is in. Here comes Koreah around. The throw home won’t get him. Two-run score. Christian Walker coming through. He’s calling for that fast ball, Kevin. He just he hung it. Probably the worst pitch he’s thrown here tonight. Really? a hanging cutter with two strikes. These guys are in swing mode. He’s looking for puts a good swing on it. Like I said, their aggressiveness almost I feel like has gotten him away from his fast ball. He’s trying to spin him to get them to expand this zone. Swinging a high deep drive. He jumped all over this one and this ball is gone. Jazz McCormack a two-run shot. 5 to2 Houston. They are coming out swinging at everything he is throwing. you know, he’s and because of it, he’s gone a lot of cutters and sweepers, you know, first pitch here. It’s just 96 up. McCormack does not miss it. A little pose down. Wow. Pretty good swing right there. Balancing on time at the 96. But you’re exactly right, Lulu. They have been aggressive and hacking at all of it. Cam Smith will take one downstairs a ball. So that equals the number of runs allowed in any start this year by Garrick Crochet. That one off the wall. Swinging a miss. He strikes him out. Back to the sweeper to get him. Couple more runs in. 52 Houston. Swinging a high drive into left field. That’s deep. Way back. Another bomb here for Houston. Ouras, who continues to dazzle the Red Sox for whatever reason, gets one 401 to make it 7 to2 Astros. His second home run in the last two innings. You get a 100 kind of up at your neck and the next pitch is a slider and you’re hitting it, smoking it on time. I mean, as a as a hitter, you’re trying to be on time. What’s that mean? The foot gets down. He doesn’t go forward and sits there imbalance and just throws the head almost effortless, right? Like you said, on time after 100 back. Go watch the pitch. Toro with a swing and a highf fly ball. Well struck right field. That’s way way back there. That is going to be gone. Toro with his seventh home run of the season. giving the Red Sox a little shot of life here with two down in the seventh. A solo drive to make it 73. Red Sox with his second home run tonight. That’s his second good swing here tonight. He drove a ball back to the wall out in right field. His first half bat to Smith right at the edge of the track. This time here, he just sort of sits on it and drives it out of the ballpark. That’s good cuz you haven’t really had him for a while now. I want to get him going. Same thing with this guy here in Son. Two out solo shot. So now four-run game. Sidon has drawn a walk and fly out to right. This is that split. Instead of going down, it kind of comes in right right into that barrel right in that path. Nice swing there by Toro. You know, put a bow in that tipping thing. I I just think it’s one of the most misunderstood things for like people who don’t play because everybody just thinks it’s cheating. You know, the Red Sox are doing it. The Yankees are doing jumping jacks over at second base, right? Like everyone is doing it. And if they’re not, they’re not doing their job. [Applause] It’s the obvious, that’s all. When you make it an obvious situation, you’re going to hurt the pitcher’s feelings or somebody’s feelings. So, you understand that. That’s why there’s called signs, whatever those are. Every team has them. One, two from Nerys. Swinging a fly ball down the right field line headed toward the corner. That’s going to drop in and that’s going to go into the corner. with the run will score. He’s into second with a double. That’s three consecutive extra base hits. That makes it seven to four on three splits. Splits. That’s it. That’s his pitch. You got three fast balls in right here. And you can see here comes a split on the fourth pitch. And Yoshi does a nice job. Barrels it. Keeps it fair down that line. That’ll bring out the manager for Houston. The spot is going to go to his bullpen. He’ll wait no longer. So the Red Sox continue to dazzle Hector Nerys. Runners in scoring position. Two out. The youngster at 294. And he come through again here. Swinging a high fly ball. He hit that one deep way back to right. And it is gone. Home run. Roman Anthony goes downtown and the Red Sox with a giant comeback have made this a one-run game. Isn’t that awesome right there? Right. It just seems like nothing has gone since that first inning and it was like just dead goose eggs and then you get two outs and then here comes the battle. Now you got four runs and we’re still going. Great AB right there. Nasty breaking stuff. Lefty on lefty. Lefties are four for 41 off that slider with no home runs this year. And Roman just took him out. Third home run of the year. He’s developing a big time nose for the big hit as that one’s fouled away by Bregman. 76 game. As I mentioned, this guy’s slider. I mean, he’s tough on lefties. They’re hitting 98 on it. And Roman just sat back. It was middle middle. He just missed a home run. His last at bat to center field. This time a little more pullside. doesn’t miss it. No, he got the change up his last at bat. Hit it 400 ft right to the center field wall. Just missed it, but hit it good and then did not miss the breaking ball. Red Sox two doubles, two home runs in this seventh inning against their bullpen. One, two. He struck him out. That’s the ball game. Houston hangs on to win it seven to six. Red Sox fighting their way from 72 down to lose by a run. And the Red Sox have now lost three straight games here on this road trip. 76 your final. Well, I mean, listen, Garrett Crochce, you haven’t seen it from all year long. Shortest outing of the year. They swung at everything. You know, they were on a lot. They fouled off a lot of pitches. They made him grind offense really after the first couple hits. But then they got it going and it made it interesting, Kev. Yeah. the two outs in the seventh inning, scored four. And you’re thinking maybe we got a little thunder left. Didn’t have it. Nice pitch right there.

We need to win more on the road. If this team really wants to take the next step to the playoffs then they need to start taking two out of three on the road in the dog days of August while the pretenders wilt in the humidity. I believe that this is the toughest part of the season. The teams that battle through the second half of August are the very teams that are going to fly down the stretch when that beautiful baseball weather cracks open in September. This part of the season separates the Men from the Boys. Time to grind. GO SOX!!!
Red Sox finally showed their true colors: they are not playoffs team, soon they will be back to the place where they belong – 3rd in division behind Yankees! This team can't play on the road – they are probably like some Divas enjoying California Houston without concentrating on baseball! This is Red Sox true colors! GROAC – get rid of Alex Cora!
Now in can be said about every single Red Sox pitcher – we need a pitcher not a belly itcher!
Not only does Boston steal signs they steal bregman from the astros 😂😂😂
