Nationals vs. Royals Game Highlights (8/11/25) | MLB Highlights

Bailey Falter who back in April HUD as a member of the Pirates threw seven shutout innings against the Nats. How about that? Overall pretty good numbers in his career off of that team. But hey, look, he’s with the Royals now. And here we go with James Wood about to lead off. Fast ball taken and it’s walk number 67, eighth most in the National League. Good start with Wood. A leadoff walk brings in CJ Abrams right through there. Strike three called former Royal Paul Young. curve inside corner strike three called. So Falter after the lead off walk a couple of strikeouts first Abrams then Paul de Young bringing Josh Bell the designated hitter. Bell had a huge series in San Francisco 6 for9 with a homer which came right-handed. He also drew three walks. He’s going to jack one to left heading for the seats. Cu later first inning and the Nets have a deuce. A walk in a two out blast number 15 for Josh. 108 bullet. My goodness. Elevate to celebrate on this one. Hanging slider. It really hasn’t mattered which side of the plate he’s been swinging from. He is uh he’s been hot either side and hitting the long ball from either side of the plate. 26-year-old right-hander Cade Kavali from Bixby, Oklahoma goes to work with a two nothing lead in the bottom of the first. Cade’s first big league start of the season last Wednesday. Four and a third shut out innings, three hits, one walk, six Ks. Here’s Bobby Whit Jr. The Royals lineup was a little late to come out today. They were waiting on the back update on Wit. And now a kind of a little half swing blooper to right field’s going to drop for a hit. Robbie just reached out and almost a half swing and he made contact. Appears that Vinnie had a visit with the Razer between yesterday and today. Maybe looking for some Nick Loftton magic. Yeah, after he had an encounter with a Razer. Why not? There’s the grounder left side to Young. It’s the short stop on the pivot. In this day and age with infielders moving around, you’ll see a lot of five, six, three double plays. Lyle with another extra base hit and a one-out double for the rookie right fielder here in the second inning. Runner at second, one out. There’s Luis Garcia Jr. to the left side. Junior keeps it on the infield. Jump throw out of bounds on a jump and a long throw. Second out and that was brilliant. My oh my, what a play that was. Well, showing off those Gold Glove award-winning skills and shortstop. If your back was bothering you, I don’t know if you could make that jump throw like that. Wow. Now the 1-1 is on the way. Fly ball center field. Pretty well struck. Is Bell on the dead run and he gets there about two steps shy of the warning track. So backto back singles. Garcia will stop at second. So a good start for the Royals here in the second inning. Down two to nothing. And Adam Frasier will be coming up. So Frasier swinging the bat well at the moment. He’s rating 302 since rejoining Kansas City. Left-handed hitter. And there’s another base hit. That’s on an 02 pitch. And here comes Mikeel Garcia. And the Royals are on the board. It is 2-1. It’s a fast ball 99 hit off the handle the other way. Jenny walked him on four pitches. Ali has faced four hitters here in the second. He’s yet to retire a hitter. Three singles and now a walk. So that calls for a meeting in the center of the diamond. And Nick Loftton will come up with the bases loaded and nobody out. So the Royals perhaps on the verge of a big inning. Right-hander’s first pitch is hit into center field. Well hit. Young the center fielder to his right to make the catch. It’s going to tie the game. All three runners tag. Runner to third is going to be safe. So Loftton produces a sack fly that gets Perez home. So a very productive out. Second and third. One out, two runs in. Great pitch in on the hands. There’s been a lot of room in foul ground here for a long time. And Nathaniel Low puts away a huge second out. Huge positive right there. Build on it for Kade. And Kavali will pitch to Yrimky with a chance to get out of this having yielded just the two runs. Swinging a miss. He struck him out on a curveball. Big time for Kate Kavali’s first strikeout. He does limit the damage. Backto back walks. The Nationals have runners on first and second with nobody out. And Dalen Lyall coming up. Here’s the pitch. Swung on and miss. Strike three. Lyall chased a slider down and away. That’s a big strike out for Bailey Falter. A big first out in this top of the fourth inning, too. That brings up Luis Garcia Jr., another left-handed hitter. Slider poked in the air, straightaway right field. Mike Stremsky is underneath it and he makes the catch. Both runners stay put and now there are two outs and Bailey Falter is one out away from wriggling free of a jam of his own making. So with two out low at second, Adams at first in a two-2 game here in the top of the fourth inning. Swung on and miss. Strike three. Falter got Young to go on a curveball in the dirt. And Bailey Falter rebounds from backto back walks to retire the next three. Daniel Lynch the fourth has taken over. And Bailey Falter for the second time in as many starts as a Royal only goes four innings. So we had a line drive shallow left that’ll fall in for a hit. So James Wood serves one the other way. That’s the wood we know. a four-game hitting streak, six out of 16. As the batter now is former Royal Paul D Young and this one high in the air to right center. It’s got some carry. Serious carry. CU later, Paul D. Young. His second opposite field homer of his four on the year. 42nats. What a swing right here from Paul D. Young that just destroys this one. 103 off the bat. Two-run homers are nice. Now the focus on Kate Kavali, possibly his last inning. 75 pitches, 44 strikes. He’s retired. 12 of the last 14. Now the wind, the kick. Here it comes. And he lays off. It’s high and outside. Ball four. So not what you wanted there, a leadoff walk. And Garcia’s on it first with nobody out for Salvador Perez. Nationals pitching coach Jim Hickeyi comes out of the third base dugout. Salvi’s one for two tonight. He’s singled and scored in the second inning. And Saudi drives it high in the air deep toward the left field corner and gone. A game tying two-run homer for Salvador Perez. We are square at four in the bottom of the sixth inning. Salvi’s 21st home run of the season and the 294th of his major league career. Brand new ball game at the K. Now the batter is Adam Frasier from the left side. jammed and that will drop for a base hit. And Frasier has another hit. And out of the dugout comes Miguel Cairo, the Nationals manager. And this will be the end of the night for right-hander Kate Kavali. The National’s new pitcher, right-hander Jackson Rutled. Hard shot low. Now the throw out is the call at second with Abrams having to make the tag. The pitch Loftton laces it into left center field that finds Grass for a hit. Young grabs it on a hop and tosses it back towards second. It’s a two-out single for Nick Loftton. He’s on base for a second time tonight. Loftton leads off first. That brings up Kyle Isel. And Isbel cracks it high in the air deep to right field. Lyles back. He’s out of room. It’s out of here. A go ahead two-run homer for Kyle Isel. He stays redot and he puts the Royals in front six to four. He sent it right into the Royals bullpen. Looking for a nice play out there by Stutter. Mitch stutter barehanded. Whoa, Mitch, show yourself. It’s the Royals second two-run homer of the inning. Nationals get their leadoff man on. That brings up Lyle. Lyle two out of three. And now he lines it to left field and a dive and a catch. Nick Loftton robs Lyle of a hit. And fortunately he caught it or that would have been trouble. If that thing gets past him, why the Nationals have an inning going and a big inning perhaps. Yeah, Zer says, “Thank you.” So, true to form, the Washington bullpen has let the game get away. Bases are loaded now with one out for Mike Ystreky. Stressky hits it in the air to left field. Tolbert wants to run and Wood is just going to play it to third base. So, he knew the runner at third and Yusky sacrifice fly gives the Royals a three-run lead. Excellent. That’s exactly what you want to do. Here’s Bobby Whit Jr. Swing and a miss. He struck him out on a slow breaking ball. Nice pitch by Agass Saware. Strikes out one of the best hitters in the league. All right, guys. Carlos Estz goes for save number 30 with 30 saves. He would be second to the Padres’s Robert Suarez for the second most in the major leagues. He’s already leading the American League right now. Nationals still have life. Young draws the two out walk and brings in Josh Bell. Ground ball left side. Garcia throws in time. Hammy hammy ha. And the Royals really needed that one. Wales win it 7 to4.
