These Blue Jays Are Returning SOON! Latest Injury Updates (Blue Jays News)
[Music] Hello everybody and welcome back to Blue Jays today where your boys we always got something to say about the Toronto Blue Jays. I’m your host Adam Pedal and I’m your host Nicholas Playalog. We got some injury updates in this one. As we get closer and closer to September baseball with those September calls and then that ultimately final postseason push, I want to know who’s going to be on this roster contributing. So, let’s get straight into it. Let’s talk about Mr. Shane Bieber. That’s the first name that we got to bring up here, folks. Uh, everybody’s wondering when is he going to be dawning his Toronto Blue Jays uniform after being traded for at the deadline. This was one of the most exciting acquisitions because whilst his floor is or could be abysmally low, his ceiling could also be seen tower levels of high. Yeah, it could be a Sai Young guy that starts for you in the postseason and that’s what the Blue Jays are hoping for and he did a pretty good job his last time out. He pitched for Triple A Buffalo Bison last Saturday. He did pretty good. Five and two/3 innings pitch. He allowed one walk but struck out six and he also gave up four hits while allowing two runs. And that’s pretty decent. You’re not asking him to be perfect. You’re just looking for the velocity which was pretty damn good. He averaged around 92.7 mph on his fast ball. topped out about 93.9. That’s where he’s been typically in his career, especially coming back from injury, you’re not going to expect this guy to be ramping up even further, right? So, that’s pretty solid right there. And then when asked about this, cuz we’ve talked about this on the show, we’ve talked about, okay, well, when Bieber comes back, he’s going to come up, there’s a fiveman already in the rotation. Is there going to be a six-man rotation moving forward? Because everybody’s doing pretty good. Obviously, you have the veteran guys and Bassid and and Bereos and Gaz’s been picking it up. Sherzer’s been looking like Sherzer recently and then Eric Lowour just the power of Lowour. Not a lot of guys you can move from there and then adding Shane Bieber would definitely make it a six-man. However, when John Schneider was asked about moving into a six-man rotation, he said they haven’t really decided if it’s definitely going to be a six-man yet, but he said it’s definitely a possibility we do a six-man rotation for 10 days or two days, but they haven’t really finalized it. probably during a big stretch in September where they don’t have many off days. But it’s kind of hard to believe that anybody in that lineup or in that starting lineup uh for the rotation would be move to the pen. Yeah. Yeah, man. I mean, like there’s so many names in there where it just doesn’t seem to add up. I’ve seen people online talk about the idea of moving Max Scherzer to the bullpen. That’s just not something that I think the Toronto Blue Jays are going to entertain. I know that he has done certain aspects of that in the past, but he’s had three really good backto backto back starts. And I think that the Toronto Blue Jays signed this guy hoping that he would be able to potentially start a playoff game for them at some point, which uh honestly that’s still up in the air. So before we continue talking about who could be CUD, let me ask you today who starts game one of a playoff game for you? Probably Kevin Gosman. uh just recently, you know, he’s been doing pretty good. He’s got the pedigree with the Toronto Blue Jays. I’d probably have to hand him ball the ball on game one. The other guys though that are very up there for possibly a game one start would be you got Max Scherzer cuz you got the veteran presence right there. He’s been been very dominant obviously our guy Eric Lowour. I think he will get a start in a playoff series. I you can’t deny that he’s been uh you know you can’t can’t deny him a spot based on what he’s been doing so far this season. Game one though, that’s where I feel like the pedigree comes into play. Kevin Gossin’s been there with this club before, so I’d probably give it to him. What about you? If it was up to me right now, and we’re talking, you know, let’s say three games, okay, three games mapped out, I think I probably do go Kevin Gosman, game one, I think Max Scherzer might be game two and then game three for me. I personally would go Eric Lowour. I don’t know if the Toronto Blue Jays would necessarily go in that direction. Maybe they would want to give it to Jose Bereiosa. Granted, he’s not been playing great recently. Similarly to Chris Basset, the numbers haven’t been awesome. So for me, it goes Kevin Gosman, Max Scherzer, Eric Lowour, but then a healthy Shane Bieber. And if he is at a high level, I mean, that could obviously put a wrench into all of this. And if he was to join this rotation, circling back to what we were talking about about, okay, well, who could go to the bullpen? I mean, I kind of think that if you had to put somebody in the pen, he did it prior to what was it? The All-Star trade deal. He did it. Chris Bassid, man. That’s for me the guy right now who is not performing at a super high level when he’s taking the bump, who’s got a bunch of junk in the trunk. So it’s like, you know, not his butt, in his repertoire, in his repertoire where it’s like, you know, we can throw out at any given It feels like you can really play some some good matchups there with Chris Bass, right? Oh, this guy struggles a lot against the breaking stuff. Let’s put Chris Basset in in that inning against these certain individuals. I mean, for me, if I had to move anybody to the pen at this current juncture, that would be the guy. And you need a long man, too, so it wouldn’t be a bad idea. We’ll see if Chris passes over. Hey, he literally openly said, the only starting pitchers openly said, “Put me anywhere. I just want to win playoff games. I want to go win the World Series.” And that’s what he did right before the trade deadline or right before the All-Star break, excuse me. If you want to go in the bullpen, man, go for it. Like, maybe you could start there and then if there comes a time where you need to move to a six-man rotation with Bieber in there, of course, then you can bring him back in and start Yeah. Yeah. Exactly right. I think that Chris Basset I mean honestly like I I gained so much respect for him when he when he you know did that and when I was hearing from we were at baseball team hearing from Keegan Matson and some of the others talking about how it’s like yeah like the guy is open and and willing to do something like that team player mentality right there and and if they are going to do something like that moving somebody to the pen that would be the guy but obviously we got to wait till Shane Bieber comes back should be within what couple weeks couple weeks is he going to pitch probably another rehab start this Saturday and he’s probably going to get up to 85 pitches according to John Schneider. Then from there should probably make a start. You got to bring him up after in my opin what what else are we waiting for at that point. So honestly could be just one more start down there in Triple A. Andre Jimenez, this dude could come up in an hour from now. I mean like quite it feels like he’s ready to go at this current point. Uh the guy went four for five in his most recent start with Buffalo. I believe that is his fourth rehab appearance with the Bisons. Uh so I mean when you get up to four starts and you’re going four for five and you’re scoring a pair of runs so you’re running around the base pass and you know you’re making plays out there that to me indicates that okay this guy’s 100% ready to go. It’s now just like a matter of time for Ross to get on the phone. Well that’s the thing I think they’re waiting for him to be 100% ready to go cuz the worst thing you want is him to come up and he’s going to command a spot in the lineup. We we’ve been talking about it for weeks. We talked about on the Blue Jays Today show. They’re going to have to make a pair of moves with him and George Springer, who we’ll bring up in a little bit, but some people who are deserving of playing time are going to lose it to guys like Andre Jimenez. And there’s so many hot bats right now that you don’t want to force this guy’s bat into the lineup when he isn’t ready to play good baseball. If he is, that’s going to be such a key piece for the Blue Jays moving forward. He definitely struggled early on this season. He’s been dealing with injuries. He’s had a lot of bright spots, but not consistent baseball that we’ve seen with the bat over the stretch. Obviously, the glove is amazing, but you kind of need that bat to be elite to warrant guys like Ernie Clement getting less playing time who came up clutch in against the Dodgers in that series and other guys like moving Addison Bar around the field. You want him to be good coming back to the Blue Jays. Yeah, I I get that, man. And I just I think that you know when the guy’s going four for five it’s like well what you know I eventually there’s going to come a time sooner rather than later. And I think it’s going to happen within the next like you know days 2 days 3 days from now that Andre Jimenez is just going to get the call up. I I think it’s it’s also an easy move for them as well too. You got Buddy Kennedy like that that one is okay. We can do that no problem. Now, it will then ultimately, I guess, result in Andre Simz actually getting in the lineup, which does mean less playing time for the people that you said. Uh, and that’s a decision that the Toronto Blue Jays are going to have to come to terms with if they really want to have Andre Menz on this roster. Now, I guess the I was about to say good news, but then I caught myself because it’s not good news. I want him back in the lineup. But I suppose the good news for Ross Atkins in terms of the fact that he doesn’t need to make some of the hard decisions yet is the fact that uh George Springer is actually not in the Buffalo lineup yet. He is not he’s just not playing. And I’m a little I’m a little surprised about this cuz it was a concussion and he was put on that I believe is on August 1st. It’s August 12th now. It was a 7day thing. So it’s it’s almost been about 2 weeks that he’s been there. Like I’m kind of surprised that he’s not back in there. Like he’s with the team and he just hasn’t been cleared yet by MLB. He has not passed concussion protocol. So that’s giving me a sign that the concussion is a little bit worse than we expected. And maybe he does need a little bit more time. Hey, he’s 35. You know, you never know. That brain could be reacting a little bit differently at that age. Takes a little bit longer for him to get back. And it’s funny cuz you you looked at the injury, you know, the hit by pitch he was suffered and it didn’t look overtly bad. like it looked like he almost got deflected off his shoulder into his head and it’s like, okay, took away some of the velocity, but it it was still pretty bad because clearly he’s not playing. But you’re right, in terms of just a roster standpoint, it’s you’re buying yourself a little bit more time. You’re buying guys like a Nate um like a Joey Loid and a Davis Schneider, those guys that are up for that other, you know, roster spot that could be sent down a little bit more time that are playing well. And I want George back, don’t get me wrong, but that’s like um I guess a blessing in disguise if you’re Ross Atkins. Yeah, that’s the thing. Like it makes Ross’ life just slightly easier because he doesn’t have to make that tough choice. And it is a tough decision deciding who you’re going to send down if you are going to outright just like, you know, DFA, Miles Straw, or Ty France. I’m I’m coming to the conclusion right now. I think that what the the best course of action would be is to send somebody down like a David Schneider or a Joey Loid. tell them, “Hey guy, you’re going to be down there for two weeks, so don’t completely unpack and then we’re going to immediately call you out come September time for the callups.” And that way you don’t have to lose Miles Straw. You don’t have to lose Ty France. You will have to use one of the options of the of one of those guys. But hey, that’s why they have them in the first place. So, I guess like the one positive to take away from George Springer not being cleared yet is that they have a little bit more time to think about that decision. However, let’s not forget George Springer has like an 890 ops on the year and has absolutely been carrying for the Toronto Blue Jays. So, this is certainly somebody that needs to be healthy for that postseason push. Uh and hopefully sooner rather than later, MLB will clear the guy and uh and the mental, the brain can be feeling good again. Yeah, you got to hope maybe they treat him a little bit like Andre Simenez right now. They give him a lot of playing time. Just wait until he’s absolutely looking good. He’s locked in. He’s feeling great cuz he said he’s feeling better. But let’s see the results on the field. How can you react to a 95 plus mile per hour fast ball? That’s the thing, right? Like you got to have all your wits about you. And clearly right now MLB says that he doesn’t. But folks, those are the latest Toronto Blue Jays updates. Bullpen needs to smarten up
man, you just know that studio smells like farts… great content though guys! keep it up
If the studio smelt like farts that would probably be an improvement over what they normally smell like. Y’all are doing a terrible job, keep it up!

After being brought up to AAA. What are the chances Yesavage is promoted to MLB to help in the pen, for a playoff push?
Blue gays will have woke players stepping down not stepping up can't wait to see the disappointment on pride flag blue gays fans when they lose in the playoffs 🚬😊
I think Berrios is off the playoffs roster for round one. I have a bet.
He's just not very good this year after 50 pitches. It's Prob about 60 in reality, but stats track in 25 pitches intervals and tho 25-50 is his strongest, 51-75 is his weakest.
0-25 is almost as weak as 50+.
There are plenty of days off in RND 1 and I think they value the extra player depth over using Berrios, even in the pen.
I love Berrios, but it's about need.
In my viewpoint these are my 3 starters for the postseason. (Game 1) Bassitt has a tool box of pitches which can throw off hitters. (Game 2) Gausman Only a 3 pitch hurler and teams will sit on his heater.
(Game 3) Bieber if healthy has good command of the strike zone and knows how to get hitters to get weak swings. Berrios, Scherzer, Lauer either long relief or potential Game 4 starters……..
It’s two bad he can’t hit though
I like Max being a 8th or 9th inning guy
I think MLB are fucking Springer around
Schneider has to be the one going down
Will Alek Manoah return in 2025?
