The 2018 World Series winning Red Sox were my favorite team. The collection of talent, their energy, chemistry and then their road to the World Series…. ALDS (Yankees 3-1) , ALCS (Astros 4-1) and the WS (Dodgers 4-1)… with those opponents to only give up 1 Game in each series is CRAZY

  1. 2004 Red Sox. Best comeback in baseball history. The Yankees have never been the same since.

  2. 2016 Cubs. 108 years in the making and the way they came from behind to push a game 7? Blowing the lead, taking it to extra, winning it all? Total storybook stuff

  3. Seems like this is mostly just asking who everyone’s favorite team is. So obviously the Diamondbacks in ’01.

  4. The whole story arc of ’14 to ’16 was pretty epic.

I feel like ’14 ending the way it did was necessary for ’15 to happen. That’s just the rhythm of baseball – unless you are just bludgeoning teams you aren’t going back to back. The 2015 Royals were a bunch of redasses out of the gate because of ’14.

The Giants get sort of a backdoor dynasty. Royals break 30 year drought. Then Cubs break the ultimate drought. Those were fun years.

  5. 2013 and 2018. One came out of nowhere and the other was just dominant. I loved how every Yankees attempt at trolling backfired massively in 2018

  6. 2021 Braves.

Sentimental win. My pawpaw, a big time Braves fan, passed away on the day Game 5 would be played. Yes, the Braves lost that game, but they pulled it together for Game 6 to win it all!

  7. ’05, 4 straight complete games, Konerko Grand Slam and Pods Home Run in the rain Game 2 vs Houston. That’s a classic World Series game. They bookended the season winning 1 nil, same as opening day.

This is not too mention moments of brilliance like El Duque in Game 3 vs Boston, drop third strike call.

    SO MUCH happened.

  8. 2004 Red Sox, especially beating the Yankees down 3-0. White Sox winning the next year meant two long-suffering franchises broke long championship droughts.

  9. It’s gotta be 2019. Total underdog/Cinderella story. Oldest roster, worst bullpen (though they eventually got better), and losing Harper the previous offseason. 19-31 after the first 50 games, and finish 93-69. Battled back down 3-0 against the Brewers in the Wildcard. Beat the 106 win Dodgers in 5 games. Sweep the Cardinals in the championship round. Then we topple the 107 win Astros in 7 games of the World Series. Overall, the Nationals faced 5 elimination games, trailed in all of them, yet came back to win them all.

I truly think it’s one of the greatest underdog stories in all sports.

  10. 11’ Cards and close second is 04’ Red Sox.

11’ Cards because they went on a heater to get in as a wildcard in September, then the home town kid… everybody is cheering…. Every Missouri TV east of KC is tuned in…. Down to the last strike… and he hits a bomb. Capping off a comeback with errors and clutch hitting.

    Edit: and the rally squirrel!

You can’t not be romantic about baseball.
