WNBA LIVE: Dallas Wings vs Indiana Fever β WNBA Regular Season August 12, 2025 | 2K25
to have you with us. We’ve got a chance now for our starting lineups from point guard to center. This game should be a good one. Now, here’s a goomba. And one thing that makes this game so fascinating is all the different styles you can incorporate. What do you think is the best for winning though, Brian? Well, you know me. I love to grind it out. Slower pace. That’s what wins come playoff time. Yeah, maybe like in the 90s, Brian. I prefer teams that pick up the pace, take a lot of threes, and can outrun you. Now, here’s Clark. Back to Boston. Six on the shot clock. Yeah, count it. Nice touch by Boston controlling her power. And it’s the wings ball outside a male. Now here is Macauan. She’s guarded by Boston outside Howard. That one falls coming off Kelsey Nicholls feet. Great recognition on the catch and shoot. Howard understood exactly how much time she had. Outside Hines Allen Atombale Macauen up top. James, releases the shot. No good. It’s very dangerous to leave her open like that. Lucky break for the D that she missed it. Cuttingham and she makes good on the layup. Well, not just a perimeter threat, Cunningham is also dangerous on the interior. Just about 2 minutes into the game, first quarter of basketball. Here’s Macauen and nothing is falling right now for them. Outside Howard, pass to Clark. Oh, my spider help me out for three. It’s rebounded by Aumba Walle. Personally, I am shocked that didn’t turn into three points. She makes you pay on those nearly every time. Inside Macauen with the bucket. Obviously, Macauan 67 size helps her down low, but she also has a little host of ways to beat you in some nice touch. Mitchell outside to the paint. Austin and a foul called on the shot. Got her on the way up that time, so she’ll shoot two. It’s going to go on Tiarara Macauen shooting two. The first one falls. Well, you just have to be excited about Aaliyah Boston, a young woman with tons of skills. She dominated in college and she’s going to dominate in the WNBA. And so she hits both. Abal with it. And we’re about 3 minutes into this first quarter. to the middle Macauan. That one falls coming off Enrique Agumbal’s nice feed because Amba draws so much attention in the pick and roll game. She’s more than happy to facilitate. Pass to Mitchell. And first quarter, we’re about 3 and 1/2 minutes in. And foul called as she misses and she’s going to shoot two free throws. It’s going to go on Tiierra Macauen. It’s her first trip to the line. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. And the first one falls for her. And you know, even before coming to the WNBA, Kelsey Mitchell was an established star. When she finished her college career, she was second all time in points. And that’s good as she hits both shots. And we’re approaching about three and a half minutes played in this first quarter. Pastoal to the left wing. Here’s James. She’s covered by Cunningham. And that one’s good. James, perfect screen there. Set her up with a terrific look. Yeah, but that’s a bad job by the defender to not fight through that screen to contest. You want to see more effort there. Now here’s Mitchell. Pass to James. And she finishes nicely on the layup. She did so well to lead her teammate right to the ideal spot. That’s the kind of playmaking coaches like to see. Here’s Clark still getting warmed up offensively. No buckets yet in the game for her. Mitchell guarded now by Amba. Six to shoot. Comes out of the gate empty. The wings trail. Pass to James. Stolen by Clark. Samuelson with the ball outside Cunningham. Now here’s Boston. Five to shoot. Back to Cunningham. Samuelson takes the three. off to a good start as she hits her first shot. One of the purest strokes in the game. Samuelson, a feared player from beyond the arc. Passal and she can’t answer back. The three-pointer offline now. Clark Mitchell with it. The three is up. Clark can’t hit and stolen by Cunningham to the inside. Mitchell shots good. You’ll see her hit from very deep, but that she isn’t a one-trick pony. Mitchell has the skills plus toughness to score inside, too. Pass to Seager. James. She’s covered by Cunningham. Here’s Ambal. Shot clock at six. Out to the right wing. Her first shot coming late. And she can’t bank that one in. The Fever leading. And here is Samuelson down low. And that one’s good. It has taken them no time to build this lead up. Great first quarter for them offensively. Yeah, but they can’t sit back. They need to keep the pressure on the defense and really try to put this one away early. Great point, Brian. You have to continue to build on this lead. Seagris. It’s good on the put back. Good use of her strength by Seagris. securing the offensive board and finishing the play. Clark outside Boston outside up again. She hangs in there and cashes in on the second chance points. Huge advantage for them already. Total control and as well as they’re playing at both ends. I’d look for this lead to get even bigger. Absolutely. Pass to James from outside the ark. Rebounded by the fever. Surprising miss, wouldn’t you say? I mean, she usually devours those wide open opportunities. Kicks it out to Mitchell. Boston and down it goes. Two points. Yeah, nice play there. Boston is a dominant presence in the paint at both ends. Here’s Ambal. She hasn’t yet put up any points in this one. Mitchell grabs the board. She’s a very strong finisher, guys. I’m surprised that she wasn’t able to power that through the defense. What confidence to pull up from out there and what skill to knock it down. No getting her toes in the three-point line. She was way back. The first quarter concludes and a double-digit lead on the scoreboards. The Fever on top up by 15. After this break, we’ll be back with the start of the second quarter on 2K Sports. Well, not exactly a neck andneck game, but as the second quarter starts, there is plenty of time for a comeback. And guys, Beaver pretty much in control here. The ball movement from them in the first half. Absolutely terrific. Very timely passing from them. And that’s fun to watch. Now here’s McDonald pass the hole. Boston with it. It’s deflected. Guarded by McDonald. Now Carrington makes it off the glass. Look at Carrington using her agility inside and using it to get to a point blank shot. Pass the hole. Back to McDonald. Hole. Here’s Wallace from downtown. Her first shot is a miss. 0 for one to start the contest. Carrington with the ball and it’s good for two. Well, the inside defense tries to put the clamps on Carrington, but she makes a clever move and gets through. Pass to Wallace. Now Boston. Now here’s hole outside McDonald to the paint. They double team Aaliyah Boston and there’s the 3second violation. Both teams will make substitutions. They could get back to within single digits of the lead. Second quarter of basketball. Just over one and a half minutes played so far. Here’s Carrington. Good on the shot and that shaves the lead to single digits. Putting those guard skills to work. Carrington with the quick trigger. Time called here. The Fever decide to talk it over. You know, we try to not play favorites, but the truth is we’re all fans here. So guys, who is your favorite player to watch? This is easy. I got to go with Sabrina Yanescu, who’s also from my hometown of Walnick Creek. She plays so unselfish, but also has an amazing three-point shot, so she can score in bunches. Yeah, I’m a big Kelsey Plum fan. You know, I love players who can shoot, and Kelsey certainly can do that, but she also has other parts of her game that are very good. And of course, I mean, lefties, they just make everything look better. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Here’s Boston. Eight points for her to the right side. Pass to Wallace beyond the ark. Good. And it’s Aaliyah Boston who picks up the assist. What poise from Wallace behind the arc, finds an angle and focuses on it. And here’s Carrington. guarded by McDonald. Here’s Harrington. They set the screen. Shot clock at five. Solid play on the low block. And that one’s good. Some fancy ball skills right there since when does she take defenders off the dribble like that? Boston inside. Covered by Seagris. The shot by Boston. No good. Dallas trailing here. And here’s Carrington. Nine points in the game to the middle in deep. Here’s James. Guarded by Wallace. Best shot by James. No good. So it’s Indiana now. The biggest lead of the game. 15 points. Pass to Samuelson. Outside McDonald, launches it, shoots, and misses. 0 for one to begin the game. And Brian, one of the better allaround defenders in this league, Ary McDonald. Well, back in college, she won defensive player of the year twice in her conference. With quick feet and quick hands, she lives in the passing lanes and is always a threat to pick the ball and get the other way. Back to Boston. Samson outside, but they recover it. Outside Howard pass to Boston. They double team Aaliyah Boston. McDonald clock is at three. Wallace shot is good. There was one thought in the mind of Christy Wallace. Hit that shot. And here’s James. Guarded by Howard. Pass to Carrington. Connects from three-point range. Only took him a few seconds to answer the three ball at one end with their own. A three-point battle starting to take shape here. Picked by Samuelson. Now here is Howard guarded closely. Boston sets a screen. Four on the clock. It’s stolen by Seagris. Now James and Aaliyah Boston with the block. Known for being a tremendous defender, Boston takes pride in wiping shots away. And as the WNBA continues to grow, the leadership we’re seeing throughout the league has been great. both on the players and league sides. Some great people in charge doing what’s right for the future. Absolutely, Brian. And the big thing, everybody’s on the same page. They all want to advance the sport, advance the league, and continue to to just be an elite uh product. And she makes the first. From a basketball family, Katy Lu Samuelson’s sister Carly has played with the Sparks. Her other sister, Bonnie, was a big-time college player. I can only imagine the games of horse those three had growing up. And that one goes in two from the line that time. Dallas calls timeout. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Ambal with it looking for her first basket still in this one. Fires from 14. That one good for two. It must be nice for them to know that game in and game out, her offense will be there for. Here’s Clark. Bby covered by Hines Allen. Clark outside. Five on the clock. Mitchell outside again. The miss by the Fever. Here’s the Wings with the ball. Nine-point game outside. A Moal outside. Hines Allen from past the art. It’s good for her second make. Two for three so far. A wide open three. They need much better communication defensively. Now here’s Clark. Pass to Bby Mitchell with it. Shoots over a wall on the money from 12 ft away. There isn’t a part of the court that Mitchell won’t let it fly. When she hits from the mid-range, it just increases the headache for the D outside Aumal. Now, here’s Hines Allen. Screen by Hines Allen. So, the whistle blows on the shot. Two free throws for the contact there. Well, the defense looking to protect the rim at all costs there. Something you struggled with in your career, Tim, but definitely saved a layup with that foul. She’s going to have to earn him at the line. And the first one at the line is good. She hits both from the stripe. And here’s Clark. The three ball evens things up with that basket. Her second of four, shooting 50%. Of all the players you want to leave open out on the perimeter, she is the last person on the list. Fires for three. Aliyah Boston grabs the miss. The Fever with the lead. Pass to Clark. Cunningham. Back to Clark to the inside. It’s stolen by Macauan and the layup’s good. Off the glass. Nice low post offense. Now Clark, she got it up in time, but it just wouldn’t fall for her. And so we’ve reached the end of the first half of play. The Fever on top. They lead by seven. And we’ll be back right after halftime to get the third quarter underway. Now the second half about to get started up again any moment. Well, we’ve seen Carrington really having a great game. Well, she created a lot of good shots for herself in the first couple of quarters and she knows when to pass up on the tough ones. Good shot selection and that led to a very high points per shot number for her. And that’s a stat that really tells you how efficient a player has been. Indiana with the ball. The biggest lead of the game, 15 points. Back to Clark. Jacks up a three. Macauan with the rebound. The Wings trail. Aumal floats one up. Foul called that time on the way up and that’ll give her two chances at the free throw. It’s on Kelsey Mitchell. Once Auma gets inside, she’s good at either converting, drawing contact, or do both. The first free throw is good. Well, what you love about Aguma Walle is not only can she get to the basket at will, but she also has the deep range to rain from downtown. Both good at the line. Clark with it. Mitchell outside. Clock at six inside. The jump hook and you can count it. She’ll go to the line with a chance to make a three. You can’t let her get a shot off in that situation. Howard can finish with contact. Plus, she’s a pretty solid foul shooter. She’ll be shooting her first free throw of the game. And the two-way game of Howard is impressive. A legitimate offensive threat who also defends with tenacity. And about a minute of action so far in the third quarter pass to Macauan. Ambal she’s covered by Mitchell and Enrique Aumba good for three. And Drique Ogman Walle is about as tough to cover as anyone. When she’s hitting threes it’s a nightmare. And here’s Clark. Now Howard outside Cunningham Clark from the line. Macauan with the rebound outside. Aumal. Here’s the second effort and she lays it in. Don’t let her 5’8 height fool you. Ambow really good in the paint. Now a timeout called by Indiana. Yeah, coach wants to get everybody on the same page out there and maybe change up some things as well. Yeah, that’s probably a good timeout. You might as well talk things through and kind of change that game plan as well. Mitchell left side. Clark back to Mitchell. From down in the low post it goes. Just a strong finish through contact. Kelsey Mitchell refusing to be outmuscled. I love to see that kind of physicality from her. Pass to James. Now Macauan. Now James started by Howard. Down to five on the shot clock. Up top. Amba Walle takes the three. And again it’s Dallas with a three. Good recognition from Amba Walle. She’s more than capable of understanding when her teammates are wide open. Austin outside. Pass to Clark. Mitchell guarded now by Agunda. Screen by Howard with the shot. Good. She hits the jumper. A little under two and a half minutes off the clock now in the third quarter. Here’s a gumbo. She has seven. The tray. No luck on that one. The Fever with the lead. Clark outside. Outside. Cunningham. No good from outside. Dallas with the ball. pass to James. Hines Allen with it. Here’s James. Guarded by Howard looking to end her cold spell and the shot is good. Great piece of work to get to the hoop. She tore the D to shreds. Now here’s Clark. She has six. Here’s Howard. Chuck up two right there. We’ve seen this before. Howard playing with some power down low. Pushes right past the contact to the bucket. Outside. Aumal from outside. Off the mark. And here’s Clark. Mitchell outside. Pulls up from the top of the key. Good. As the jump shot falls. This is why Kelsey Mitchell is in the WNBA. She can carry a team offensively. Have huge nights and put on a show. Outside Hines Allen. Pass to Macauan Arjun Bal back to Macauan and no good. Nice D from Aaliyah Boston. And here’s Kelsey Mitchell for three. Good. And it’s Aaliyah Boston who picks up the assist. She can shoot off the dribble a lot, but Mitchell is also adept at shooting off the delivery. A crisp pass helps her square up. Time called here. The Wings decide to talk it over. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Pass to James. Macauan with the ball. Ambal. She’s covered by Mitchell. Just five on the clock and that’s good. Enrique Auno for three. There is no way and I mean no way a player like her can be left wide open like that. Mitchell outside. Pass to Cunningham. Mitchell. Back to Cunningham. Tried to answer back, but that three is off the mark. Dallas trailing here. Here’s James. It’s hauled in by Boston. And here’s Indiana. The biggest lead of the game, 15 points. Got that one up quick. She might not be the top sharpshooter in this league, but that’s not a shot that D can afford to give to her. Seagris outside pass to Macauan. Aonal with it and here’s James. She’s covered by Cunningham. Screen by Macauan. Three-pointer. No good. Hard to figure out why she didn’t bury that one. Not a defender near her. Clark right side pulls up high post. The rebound by Sebras. As far as you know a jumper will go, that’s as high percentage as it gets. Seriously, I don’t know how that one didn’t fall. Macauan up top outside a wall over Mitchell and she sinks that one hitting the back of the rim on the way in. And that’s going to do it for the third quarter. The Fever on top leading by seven. And we’re just moments away from the start of quarter number four. Stay with us. The fourth quarter just moments away now as we welcome you back. on the wing. Dja Carrington shoots it up and good work on the boards and they pick up the second chance points. She was the first one to react to that miss. I mean, that’s just a hustle play on the put back to the inside. Pass to Mitchell. Howard covered by Carrington. Back to Mitchell, launches a three, buries it from three-point range. She has really deep range. Mitchell’s offensive game starts with that three-point shot. It forces defenders to pick her up at half court. Now Carrington, the three-pointer off the mark. And we played through about a minute here in the fourth. Mitchell outside. Samuelson outside. Shot clock at six. Over Hines Allen. Samuelson’s shot is off. She kind of short armed that shot after doing a nice job of getting open. Guarded by Howard out to Hines Allen Harrington from the arc. That one is good again. She is six for eight from the floor with that basket. It’s just terrific to see Carrington taking charge on the offensive end. And you know the bench loves to see it as well. West left side. Howard over Carrington fades away and sinks the tough shot. If you make a mistake against Howard, she’s going to capitalize. She has such a detailed offensive approach. Harrington guarded by Howard. Harrington up top. Hole with the rebound. The Fever with the lead. Pass to Howard. Harington grabs the board. So it’s Dallas now. Just under 2 and 1/2 minutes gone by now in the final quarter. How about the smaller player eating some glass? Mitchell outside. Samson outside this one for three. Nailed from three-point land. When she has the ball, Mitchell is always looking to find an open teammate. Head on a swivel. Pass to Carrington. three-pointer. Drains the three-pointer right back at you. They immediately get those three points back. Just trading punches from long range. It’s been a heavyweight fight. Pass the hole. We’ve played just over three and a half minutes now in this fourth quarter. So it’s Dallas now. They trail by seven. There’s a wall with the three. Rebounded by the Fever. The biggest lead of the game, 15 points down low. Nice pass. Led him to the rack perfectly for the layup. What an excellent assist. It really led her to the perfect spot. She’s covered by Mitchell. Pass to Carrington. Back to Hines Allen. And that’s good for two as she grabs the feed. Well, we know Hines Allen can score from the outside, but don’t forget she’s a problem down low. Howard with the ball now. Mitchell. Back to Howard. They set a pick. There’s the triple. It’s in. And she’s a very efficient five for six on the game. What are they thinking? Leaving her with all that space out there. Don’t they know that that’s pretty much a layup for her? Carrington with the ball. Atombale fires the three. Gets the three-pointer to fall. Love the competitive mindset from Amba. Anything you can do, I can do better. Time called here. The fever decide to talk it over. Heat. Heat. Let’s Oh, heat, heat. Here’s Clark. Pass to Mitchell. Back to Clark. out. Right side. Cunningham. No good with the triple. Yeah, the great shooters. They know when they’ve got enough opening to go for the three. I didn’t think it was a bad choice there. Yeah, not very good defensive coverage that time. The T got lucky to the middle. Here’s Agumal. That’s tipped. Absolutely no fear, guys. Mixing it up in the paint with bigger players. And up the court from the wings on the break. No stranger to big buckets. Is anyone surprised to see awal come through for her team? Now here’s Clark. Boston Maccawan defending and they double up Kelsey Mitchell. Boston shot is good. Give credit where credit’s due. Terrific assist inside. The wings trail. And here is Ambawale. There’s the three. She’s off on that one. So, it’s Indiana now. The biggest lead of the game, 15 points. Pass to Mitchell. Back to Clark. Just for a shoot. Dallas with the rebound. Didn’t see that miss coming. She’s usually so good from that range. Outside Aumal. Here’s the three. Yes. And now they trail by just four. That is who you want taking the big shots. Orique Ubuntal has that it factor. Wants the rock in pressure spots. And so they foul intentionally. Now here’s Clark. Defense is right there. Boston outside. Lets it go from deep. That missed basket takes her to four for eight from the floor. They need to score quickly. No time to waste. And she gets it to go as they call the foul. She’s on her way to the line for one more. He’s the player who wanted the charity stripe in that situation. I got no doubt about that. So is Indiana. Now they lead by one. And now we’ve got the intentional foul. She drops the first one and that will put them up two. And so both free throws good this time. And it’s a three-point game. That last free throw was critical. Their only choice now is to go for the three to tie. Time called here. The Wings decide to talk it over. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Dallas with the ball. It’s a three-point game. Time called here. The wings decide to talk it over. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Heat up here. on top of she’s covered by Mitchell to the paint. Macauan, she can’t get that one. Nice D from Aaliyah Boston. And they’re going to prolong the game with an intentional foul. You know, they had to foul to stop that clock. That’s really the enemy in this situation. Yeah. And who knows, a few misses at the stripe and they’re right there within range. Can be knocked down to three or two. Who knows? So, the first one drops and that gives them a four-point cushion. And she hits both free throws and it’s a five-point game. No mistakes there. And I think you can close the book on this one, guys. Time called here. The Wings decide to talk it over. Yeah, watching the huddle. I think the coach is telling them to take the easy points in a hurry, then foul as soon as possible. Yeah, and you shouldn’t just foul blindly, though. Go for the steal with all they’ve got before that. Yeah, you could go for the steal for a second or two, then foul. It’s good. And she has brought them within two points. Oh, I think she she owes the three-pointer dinner cuz it’s been her best friend today. No question. Well, it has been today anyway. I mean, look, most of her points have been courtesy of the deep ball. First free throw is good. And that makes it a three-point lead. Second free throw, no good that time. And she really wanted that one. A chance to tie it up here. A three-pointer would do just that. Defense knows that, too. You know, it’s just terrific positioning on her part to get the rebounds. You know, she might not have the size or the height, but she’s got plenty of smarts. And she misses the first one. Boy, she really wanted that one to fall. That’s good. Going one of two from the line. And that gives them a four-point cushion.
