Did the Nashville Predators Reach On Brady Martin At #5 Overall In the 2025 NHL Draft? #nhldraft
Brady Martin, who is kind of my first guy that I think was taken too high. He went five to Nashville. Like, to me, this is just not a top five pick kind of player. It’s an interesting choice for Nashville, I think. Um, you know, this is the kind of pick that you would expect from a team that thinks that they’re close, I would say, because of the the I think the higher floor, the lower ceiling, right? This is like the This is like you’re rounding out your your roster with like who you think might be like a you know he’s got that dog in him, right? He’s like he could be like that edge that you need to get over the hump, right? To like really take your thing to the next level. Very good defensively, generates turnovers. Also, like Misa, very good on the forche. He also has a great shot when he decides to use it. He very rarely flashes it. Uh and I don’t know if that’s like a confidence thing or, you know, something that he just wants to defer to somebody else. I think he’s a center in this league. He could end up being a winger, but I think he’s a center in this league. I I see it heard a lot of people saying Sam Bennett. I just don’t see that upside for him to be Sam Bennett. Um I think he’ll probably be a decent player. I don’t know that he’s necessarily a top six. Like he might be a third liner, uh like a really good third line center. And like I just don’t know if I’m taking like a guy who could be a good 3C at five. Personally, I don’t see him as anything other than like a third line center. Honestly, I don’t I don’t think he’s playing 2C unless he’s stacked with you’re stacked with, you know, top uh top six wingers or something like that. I I really like him, but I I agree with you. I think this is a little bit of of a of a reach. Martin is like the kind of guy you want to sign in free agency. It’s like put your team over the top. Mhm. For sure. Like if you’re any of these contending level teams and like you could just like add a Brady Martin then like you would love that, right? Florida would love to just like pick up a Brady Martin, a developed Brady Martin. Yeah. In like seven in seven years this guy is going to get way too much money in free agency. Oh, he’s going to get he’s going to get a dumb contract because you’re going to see Flash. Yeah, because you know that’s the kind of player that he is. So he’ll he’ll have like a 28 goal season. Mhm. And right, get a bunch of bunch of hits. Yeah. maybe have a great playoff run for Nashville if they, you know, are able to put the pieces
