Astros took the series opener 7 to 6 last night. Second straight victory for the Astros who have won five of their last seven while the Red Sox have lost three in a row and four of their last five. And it’s going to be a he’s fourth start of the year. His second since coming off the IL on Wednesday looking to bounce back after that first outing against the Marlins when he gave up five runs over three and two thirds innings. Wound up getting the loss gave up three runs in the first inning of that ball game, roman ball for a guy who for the better part of six weeks has a 500 on base percentage leads off the game with a walk for the first time tonight. Kind of a mixed reception for Bregman. Chance to deliver right away with Anthony at first first pitch to Alex Bregman and he drives this one to left center field racing back on it and getting there to make the catch is Melton for out. Number one back to first goes Anthony. So Bregman teeing off on a first pitch fastball but be able to make the play and there’s an out two down here is doubled last night, ground ball to the right side coming on the ground to end the inning. A couple of walks don’t hurt spencer, eric Getty as he will be Dustin May making his second start since coming over to the Red Sox. His first one didn’t go very deep, gave up three runs over three and two thirds innings and the Red Sox are hoping for better returns from dustin May first pitch and Pena rockets it in the left for a base hit played on a couple of hops by Anthony Jeremy Pena gets the Astros started on the right foot. Pena takes off the pitch swing and a Miss Correa strikes out no throw down to second as Pena steals standing up but there is one out in the inning, jose like his buddy, Carlos Correa also comes into tonight with a nine game hitting streak and he’ll pop it up sky high on the right side to on the grass and make the catch two down here. Jesus Sanchez left handed, hitting right fielder. The pitch is swung on and missed. He got him fastball top of the zone excellent for May and he works around the leadoff hit. So Diaz ends zero for 10 with that single and second hit the Astros. Here’s the most terrifying hitter in their lineup. 360 in his career against Boston and that’s 59 games. That’s not a short sample breaking ball bounced up the third base line. Bregman gloves it and throws from the foul line. But to able to grab the one hop throw it trickles in the right field. Over to third base goes Diaz and is on at first. Bregman saved a run though by just stopping that ball and it should have been an out at first but Toro couldn’t handle the one hop throw. Here’s Jacob Melton recalled yesterday 13 games with the Astros seven for 3426 average big pitch here with Pena on deck runner off at first. That’s a and it is strike three called beautiful slider on the outside corner. Look at Dustin may screaming love that enthusiasm and a golden opportunity here in the third inning getting, getting wild here has walked four men. The bases are loaded with nobody out for Jared Durant, Red Sox in business in the third. And what a chance this is for Jarren Duran. He’s been really good this season with runners in scoring position and that’s lifted in the shallow center. Pena going out. He’s waiting for it a couple of steps behind the infield dirt makes the catch in the runners retreat a big out for no damage done on that at bat. And here comes Trevor story who is trying to bust out of a skid. He is not driven in a run between San Diego and Houston foul ball and it hit him in the hand and did he go? No. And so that’s going to be a hit batter. They will score the run and you hope Trevor is ok. They appealed down to first base to ask if that was a swing. They say no. And now Cora and brandon Henry are out looking at Trevor and how important it is that his right hand is ok. And now he’s going to take his base. So the base is reloaded for Masataka high in the air to center field hit well back on it melted at the track. He’s there in front of the wall to make but plenty deep enough for Anthony to tag and score very productive deep drive for Yoshida and it’s 2 to 0 for story. He stays perfect on the year in that category, his 20th steal and it’s a big 12 men in scoring position with a chance to drive in a couple here. It’s this ball pretty well to center a playable for Jacobs going back on it makes the play for the final out two runs score after bases loaded. Nobody out. And Red Sox a little bit of run support for dustin May in his second start after the trade from the Dodgers gets the top of the order here for the Astros and Jeremy Pena. Here’s Correa struck out his first time out in between the legs of Jose Altuve almost clipped his buddy in the on deck circle. I can laugh now because Altuve was able to avoid damage. I have brushed his jersey wake you up and it’s nothing a two to carlos. Here’s a breaking ball grounded to third. Bregman gloves throws to second for one. Really to first is in time. Wow. They got him off the bat. Not hit hard enough to turn it but very nicely done by Bregman and Zan Correa not moving well down the line. That will be the first walk for Dustin May and the Astros have a sanchez struck out his first time at first two outs. Pops it up. Good decision. Shallow left field shortstop story is out. He’s there to make the play nice job. Dustin May 2nd time through, no problem so far continuing through the second time around the mix has been good. He throws that cutter coming into this game about 8% but it’s definitely working tonight off of that fastball and sweeper and that’s in there for strike three , two more. K’s in the book for May. He zips through the fourth innings, got seven strikeouts. Tonight will be Spencer’s last inning. If he can finish off five, he’ll take it. That’s a short hop pick by how smooth is that guy with the glove that was slick. Good. Look at it and you have to see it into the glove. You just anticipate the hop and make the play two out. Nobody on for Trevor Story, Eric for his 2nd 123 inning of the ninth got him good finish for Spencer. He still only allowed one hit through five innings. The walks that hit by pitch that hurt him a little bit in a 2 to 0 game but a solid out top of the sixth new pitcher for Houston Lefty stephen Oker facing lefty Masataka Yoshida ground ball and a dive and a knockdown by Correa, but he will have no play and that will be a base hit. The leadoff man is four to the sixth Correa third baseman. He’s been over there since he’s been traded playing it like a shortstop, right? And you know, he’s got the arm to play over there, unable to glove it. Start this inning off with a no Rafaelle with a base hit. Red Soxx have something, Bruin 1st and 2nd 2 away for our Baez love to kind of pile on, you know, separate this game right? You get it to four, get it to five breaking ball, hammered to deep left field. Pet is back. Let’s go. That’s adding on big time, a three run shot by Narvaez. Red Sox lead it five to nothing separate. Welcome back. Carlos Narvaez. Good to see you talking about one blast, you know, two nothing game. The Astros blooping a blast all of a sudden. Now it’s five nothing. It’s a different mindset. That’s a four pitch walk to Anthony. He walks for the third time tonight and that will bring up Bregman third time through the, they got something going and they took advantage of this bullpen once he left the game, fly ball right field. That one headed into the corner , that ball sailing and that ball is gone. Alex Bregman for the second straight night against Houston hits one out of here two run shot Red Sox open it up seven. And I believe that’s his mother in the stands wearing like a sequined Bregman jersey and she just did the turbulent airplane. He gets booed again. That’s a sweet sound. Now he’s going, you show it off and just like that a two game has become seven as the Red Sox doing all this damage with two outs. Dustin may quite efficient and he’s getting run support and May has really been excellent. Still going to finish the job. You still want some length out of the bullpen is a little light looped in the shallow center field. Long run for Durant overcomes Anthony and Roman on the run is there to make the play and May is through six scoreless innings story. He’s going to be safe over at first. That is likely an error on Carlos Correa. The Red Sox have now walked seven times in this game, Sox trying to turn this one into a big time. Laugher. Good sign from to last couple nights. He does it again, roman Anthony for the second night in a row and the Red Sox lead it nine to down to second base goes, Durant and Trevor story reaches for the third time tonight. Third hit of the inning for Boston Toro next. Also looking for the first is zero for four. He into this one into left field for a base hit. Durant will score, the throw home will be cut off and the Red Sox get to 10 to something. They have done more frequently than anybody in baseball when this gets going. Right. It’s just contagious. They can hit 10 to nothing. Brings up. Will you, bre has an RB I double tonight swings and drives one high and deep into left center field. This thing is crushed, hits at the track, a leaping attempt. He does not make the play hits off the wall. Two runs will score consecutive opposite field doubles for Will you Abreu Abreu now having a big time night, give him three RBIs and the Red Sox just running away and hiding tonight. 12 to nothing. Hey, look who’s on the mound? Blumer first appearance on the mound in the big leagues for Chas mccormick is right here. J Durant will take his base and that’s going to load them up like he’s going out there right now. Trevor Story gets a chance to pad the stats against the position player and base hit left field. So this blowout will continue. Anthony comes in to score to make it 13 to the second RB I in the ball game for Trevor Story, Red Sox once again getting to 10 plus that’s for the 19th time this year. Groundball back to the mound. Mccormick throws to second for one relay to first, not in time. Reg scores. It’s 14. Nothing got to work on the PFP is a little bit. The Sox lead by 14 runs. Here’s Ramon two on one out bottom nine. First pitch here is groundball right at Bregman. He has it to second for one on the first by Raphael and he throws it away off the dugout fence. Coming home is Diaz. He will score and the Astros will not be shut out tonight. Much of the joy of the fans who remain. It’s 14 to 1. Boston and popped up. That should do it. Trevor story underneath the Red Sox. Walk away with this one tonight. 14 to 1 Red Sox needed that desperately.
