  1. This is great news! 12 per year is perfect, feels like a solid compromise. LET JAMES COOK!!

  2. So 12 million per year, most of the contract being guaranteed. Overall I’m fine with the contract. Cook does have top 10 RB potential and I’m
Hoping this contract will age well as the cap goes up

  3. There ya go, Bills keep the overall cap hit down and Cook gets solid guarantees, seems like a good compromise.

Now never, ever get injured even a little bit Jimbo!

  4. For this kind of money, I hope he sees the field more — both for rushing and for (improved) blocking

  5. Fair deal, I thought $11-$11.5M was the true value number, but $12M is a good deal. Happy they can move on now.

  6. Puts on tin foil hat: the entire holdout was just to generate a storyline to make Hard Knocks more compelling

  7. Glad to see Cook staying. The guy can literally squirrel his way out of a shit situation and still gain some yards. So many plays last season I was like “well that was a shit run, he might’ve lost a couple…oh wait there he is!”

  8. He was just waiting for me to buy a season ticket – did that yesterday. You’re all welcome.

  9. Seems like an okay compromise. Let’s hope for a big year, and hopefully some backfield blocking as well.

  10. “If the Buffalo Bills win the Super Bowl, their players will each receive a $171,000 bonus, according to the current NFL collective bargaining agreement. Additionally, quarterback Josh Allen, if he plays at least 60% of the offensive snaps, will earn an extra $2.5 million.” So our next goal is for James Cook and ALL the Bills to get that bonus!

  11. Bruce Nolan doesn’t seem to necessarily hate it so that’s good enough for me on a RB extension

  12. Question. It’s a four yr extension so does this mean his cap hit//salary of $5.4 M is still in effect? So it’s this yr plus four more?

  13. Fantastic contract imo. Basically right in line with Kyren’s recent extension but not at the tip top of the market.

I think we’re going to start seeing a mini-boom in RB salaries here soon. Guys like Bijan and Gibbs will most likely be getting paid big time in a few years. If Breece Hall and Kenneth Walker have bounce back seasons, they’ll likely be looking at a nice pay day as well. We’re already seeing a slight shift back to high impact rushing attacks, and that should continue with the amount of talent in recent years that has come into the league. Hopefully Cook can become more of a 60/40 or 65/35 lead back now. He won’t ever be an elite pass blocker, but even being passable would open up a lot more on offense and keep defenses guessing.

  14. This is pretty much exactly where his value falls based on production and comparable RB contracts around the league. It’s actually on the lower end based on his peers. Outstanding deal by BBB.

  15. Once again the culture that McDermott, Beane and Company have built shines bright. That had to have been one of the civil contract disputes I can remember seeing.

  16. Absolute no brainer. Ray Davis looked like frank gore as a Bill on Saturday and our WRs can’t shake Tre White at camp. Reality set in for Beane this weekend

  17. His usage at Georgia in college was relatively light and so far in the pros his workload has been on the chill side. I love this signing. His vision running between the tackles, his big play ability, and his pass catching prowess which hasn’t been fully tapped yet imo aren’t things you can easily replicate with just any RB. The fact that he can hit a HR anytime he touches the ball wasn’t something this offense had before with singletary, etc.. The I’m not a fan of paying RBs take is a little dusty at this point and you can see a shift happening in the league regarding this. He is a potent offensive weapon who helps make this offense go.. The last game of the season last year highlighted how important and impactful Cool is as he was probably the most dynamic weapon outside JA on the field. If he develops into a competent pass blocker in the next 1-2 years and has full 3 down capability, this signing won’t just be a good deal, but a steal. Go Bills!
