Miami Dolphins 2025 Training Camp Day 14: Another Bad Joint Practice!
Man, this day could have gone from bad to worse, but the Miami Dolphins dodged a bullet. [Music] What is up, Finn fans? Bad day from the Miami Dolphins. I’m just going to spoil it right off the jump. Dolphins didn’t do well at joint practice with the Detroit Lions. They got dominated yet again. Uh again, this is practice. This is training camp. go into the, you know, try not to freak out too much, but also tell you why you probably should be concerned, but to, you know, not beat around the bush and got right into it. Chop Robinson was carded off the field when it happened. Everyone else, everyone else, everyone that’s a Miami Dolphin fan, and if you are a football fan, kind of all held our collective breaths until we got some news. And we got this news from Chop himself. He said, “I’m good, y’all. Nothing serious.” Thank the Lord in heaven. Last time, sorry, clear my throat. Last time we heard something like that, that was from Jaylen Phillips who also he got injured and then he came out and said, “I’m good. Don’t worry about it.” Blah, blah, blah. So, you know, again, I’m going to knock on wood, but we’ve been hit with the injury bug a little too much, losing too many players. the fact that Chop came out and he says, “I’m good. Nothing serious. Hopefully, it’s just, you know, a bruising, a tweak, a this or that, and he’s going to take tomorrow off. He’s going to take uh Saturday off, and then maybe be back on Tuesday when training camp opens back up after their game against the Detroit Lions.” But jeez louise, can we just stop? But the funny thing is, it’s not just the Miami Dolphins. Like, uh, Shador Sanders dealing with an oblique injury. You found that out today. We have uh corners you getting knocked out, not just Miami Dolphin corners, but just corners around the NFL getting knocked out with torn ACLs, Achilles injuries. You have Landon Dickerson of the the Eagles dealing with an injury. Like so many injuries during training camp and preeason, it’s getting a little ridiculous. So, can can the football gods just stop and can we all all the teams go into the regular season healthy? Like, is that all possible? But we’re going to get into this. Going to uh hear from McDaniel and then some playbyplay. There’s some good. I’ll say this, it wasn’t all bad. There was some good and I do have a beat writer for the the Lions who gave us a little bit of perspective, but it was another day like the Chicago Bears day and hopefully they have a rebound on Saturday and kind of do more during an actual game than practice. So, uh, sorry again for clearing my throat. Mike McDaniels said the Dolphins will have wide receiver Tiger Kill and Jaylen Wadd for today’s joint practice versus the Lions. Uh, Jaylen Phillips won’t suit up. Uh, I’ll give you a little spoiler. It it like barely anything. I think they stretched and they did a little work here and there. They barely out there. Um, this is his response to uh, linebacker Grant Stewart about them not being a physical football team. have any reaction to uh to Grant Stewart essentially putting into question the practice habits of of this team? No, I I don’t I mean I literally does not affect me uh whatsoever that I hope um we get the absolute best practice from Grant and everybody else between the whistles like that and that makes us better. So, um, you know, I I think there’s, uh, uh, a lot of a lot of noise, and I’ve filed that into the noise category. Take with that what you will. Not very convincing, I’ll say that. Uh, this is from Alan Pupar. He says, “Dolphin’s attendance for joint practice. Those who look like they won’t be practicing are Alec Engold, Austin Jackson, Keon Smith, Andrew Meyer, BR uh Baron Maddos, Jaylen Phillips, Mo Kamar, and Ashton Davis. Elijah Campbell has been seen at practice after the injury scare against the Chicago Bears. Then we got some plays here. Julian Hill beat Grant Stewart over the top in one-on- ons. Very nice to hear Julian Hill getting some work there and actually having a very productive rep. Tua hits Devon Chain down the field on the sideline to start seven on sevens. Aman St. Brown is a great challenge for the Dolphins corners. He’s an artist of the route runner. Got Jack Jones twisted in one ons. Zach Wilson just intercepted in seven on sevens by Nick Whitide. Uh either he was picked by uh early he was picked by safety Ian Kenley off a tip. So that’s two interceptions for Zack Wilson. Quinn’s impressing in the first two throws and seven on sevens. Andrew Armstrong and Theo Whis had nice onev one reps. Then they had catches in their own in their first two reps on seven on seven. Armstrong’s a nice catch off frame and a wide throw from yours. Seven on seven time Willie Gay and Mika Fitzpatrick stops Lions tight end Sam Leaporta from a short gain. Jordan Brooks uh would have just killed Amanra St. Brown after the wide receiver catch. hospital ball from Jared uh Jiren Jared Goff Gez Doug St. Brown just went to the house on a streak from what I believe to be the slot. Corner Armstrong in coverage. Kenneth Grant just drove back Lions offensive lineman Tate Rattlage and a one-on-one’s definitely a win. Love hearing that cuz Tate Rattlage is a good offensive lineman and I love hearing Kenneth Grant getting that win on that rep, especially driving him backwards. Lions offensive line uh lineman Pane Su easily handles Chop Robinson. Quinn and Bell and Derek McClendon are easily winning their reps. Chop lost another rep to Pane Su gained much more ground this time. Uh two of throws uh Westbrook over the top overthrows Westbrook over the top in seven on sevens. Drew Hill earlier was open over the top but dropped the pass. Uh Estridge and Malik both had catches from Tua in seven on seven period. Both good separation with the ball on them uh out of the break against the Lions top coverages guys. Zack Wilson responds from his interception earlier with a nice pair of throws, one downfield to AJ Henning. Um see if you’re listening to the podcast uh and you want to see what just happened to me, go to the YouTube channel. I had the biggest brain fart and my body just contorted. Anyway, Grayson Murphy adds to the success that Quinn and Bell and Derrick McClendon had in their reps to start 11 on 111 works. Two of sacks seemed to come off uh come from the vicinity of Patrick Paul on the left side. Han was in pass protection. Paul and Jonah escort right around the corner for a good gain on a toss. First play on seven on sevens. Lions wide receiver Aman Rain Brown torched cornerback Jack Jones. Zach Wilson missed a wideopen Eric Yuzakama did make a nice throw to Pharaoh Brown though. Uh neither Tyreek Hill nor Jaylen Wadd scene during any drills uh working against the Lions. Jaylen Phillips Anthony Weaver went to check on um Chop Robinson who went down and again we have the update that he is fine. Grant Stewart uh seen uh tracking Ali Gordon on a wide run tackling to the ground. 11 on 11’s Goff found Aman Rain Brown for 15 yards. Bonner in coverage. Gibbs runs for 10. Good coverage by the secondary. Check down to man Rain Brown for five yards. And that’s probably something you’re going to see more in the regular season or maybe in the preseason is the Dolphins aren’t going to let you beat them over the top. Um, so they’re going to give up the underneath and track down and make the tackles. Uh, especially with the corners that we have. Hopefully it works. I don’t know if it will. Jordan Brooks forces a fumble on uh David Montgomery. Recovery uh by the running back. Jordan Brooks is out to play. Uh Chop Robinson a day at the end day at the end of his last play. Um essentially again we know everything’s good. Gibbs rushes up the middle for about seven yards. Jared Goff connected with uh JMO. I think that’s short for Gibbs. Uh on a five-yard drag, a hospital ball because Dante Trader would have blown him up. Jack Jones with a tackle for loss on running back Craig Reynolds. Uh Reynolds responds with a 20-yard run up the middle. Devon Achan had a nice gain coming around on a run with some mid uh misdirection. And Aaron Brewer was getting after it, finding some someone to block down the field. Love hearing that. Lions hit an explosive pass, but Trader is there for a big hit. This time he makes it. Uh Deny Jonah to start team drills after he seemed to be favoring his hand in the 1v one reps, but he’s been back in the lineup since. Gez, can we stop with the injuries? Goff is sharp. Three completions, two into tight windows. Steeler beat the left guard for a sack on the next play. More 11 on 11’s incoming Lions tight end Sam Leaporta makes a leaping 20-yard catch. Jordan Brooks in coverage. Goff finds Amandra on a tight window throw across the middle for about 10 yardds. Storm duck in coverage. Goff finds a wide receiver uh Khalif Raymond on the sideline. Come back for 15 yards. Couldn’t see who was in coverage. And then finally, Zack Cer gets a sack on Jared Goff. Then Goff finds Amra Brown across the middle for 20. Jack uh Jones with a pass break up on Henden Hooker’s pass to Reynolds. False start on the Lions offensive line. Isaiah Johnson uh with a good open field tackle on Lions tight end Zack Horton. Uh Zach Wilson sacked by Lions Roy Lopez. So, I’m going to take a break from just reading off here. Um, so far, Dolphins aren’t doing great. And again, it’s no spoiler that they had a rough day of it today. Um, they got to get it together. Again, it’s practice and I’ll go into my little spiel afterwards. So, it is practice and we shouldn’t look too far into it, but also you should take some notes and some notice about what is happening to his next period. And teams was tough sledding. coverage was good and he was forced to throw it into tight uh windows or create. Um Estridge continues to stand out with Reek and Wadd uh rehabbing. He made a nice catch on an intermediate throw. Backto-back Zack Wilson throws to the deep sideline. One overthrow to Estridge and then one under throw to Tariq Black. Goff dialed in. Uh has a small window in the red zone. Fits it in for a touchdown. Next play, Jordan Brooks in one v one with Gibbs in the B gap and runs right over to him. Uh next play he has a pass break up to a threw uh threw away his first ball, but then Han took another run around the corner for 10. Uh then goes to Wadd for a touchdown. So it seems like the seven on sevens and and the little stuff Wadd is out there. Terrell Dawson Terrell Dodson this time shuts down Lions run. Concealer Grant and Bonito are stacking things up just before I hit the send. The hammer uh they hammered one in for five yards. Good. Got good surge that time. Had an effective double team on Bonito. I’m hear and that’s something I’m also hearing is that they’re double teaming especially Jordan Phillips who I’m hearing is doing very well. They’re double teaming these guys which is good to hear which is going to leave other things open when we actually start to show the defense we’re going to run. Amra St. Brown just punted the ball in the air after catching a red zone touchdown. Uh Goff finds uh JO for a 20-yard touchdown. Great tight window throw. Kender Sheffield in coverage. Wonder if the lack of full speed action would have prevented uh the catch because the because a few Dolphins were there probably. And again, that’s the other thing you have to take with these practices, right? Like I said, there is some of a concern you should take from the practice, but also they’re not playing full speed. They are not tackling to the ground. They’re not trying to hit each other. Whereas in a full game, they’re probably trying to knock that ball out, trying to light him up and and make sure he doesn’t catch it. So again, I’ll go more into a spiel about this later. Jordan Brooks stops Lion running back Jamar Gibbs at a tackle for loss. Uh Brooks forces incomplete to Sam Leapora. Terrell Dots and Jordan Brooks combined to stop Lions running back David Montgomery for short gain. And Gibbs scores six-yd touchdown. Quarterback Jack Jones is chirping at Lions offensive line. Brooks had uh to come grab him. Good. I love hearing the stops from Brooks and Datson. Um and I love hearing the chirping. Good St. Brown with a nice onehanded catch on Jason Marshall Jr. who was in tight coverage. Just perfect placement by Jared Goff. Ammer St. Brown with back-to-back touchdowns. This time on a 5-yd out on Jack Jones. Ammon Montgomery scores a 5-yard touchdown. Jack Jones again with the Lions O line. Uh, a lot of pushing and shoving, but nothing major. Cam Smith cighting. The quarterback just made a nice hit on the Lions. Isaiah Isaac Tesla to stop the play after five yards. Nice to hear that. Grayson Murphy with a great backfield stop on the run by running back Dion Jackson to a red zone period ends in a sack. Zeke Beggars and Grayson Murphy stack up the goal line. Uh Zach Wilson with a tight throw to the hands of Ericama on the goal line, but he dropped it. He bounced back with a touchdown to Tariq Black in the corner of the end zone to wrap up the red zone period. Uh new Dolphins running back Mike Boon fumbled in the red zone which is not good to hear. Mika Fitzpatrick feels a cross coming his way and cuts it off, which is nice to hear. Passing offense continues to result in same throwaways. Uh Travis Wingfield said he lost count. More 11 on 11s. Gibbs uh ran a swing that he took for about 10 yards. David Montgomery stopped after a short run. Mika Fitzpatrick with a pass break up. Jordan Brooks uh with the great open field tackle on Montgomery who was stopped just a few yards after catching the swing route. Brooks and Dodson combined for a tackle on Ronnie Bell for six yards. Goff finds JMO across the field from 20. Mika was the with a nice pop at the end of the play. Cameron Good stops Craig Reynolds for a tackle for loss. Wilson goes back to black and draws a PI from Lions Eric Howlet. Um, good drops in coverage and puts a shoulder on the football on a clo on a crossing tight end to jar free. Pair of sacks now against Tua and the Dolphins ones. First one definitely a coverage sack. Uh, move the ball end of period. Lines D got a fourth and out. Julian Hill caught two balls, one first down, but then a false start and a pass break up on an incompletion to right resulted in a turnover on downs. Situational period begins with back-to-back short yardage catches from Dolphins tight end Julian Hill. Then a false start. Lions safety Kirby Joseph uh with a pass break up on D. Estridge. Incomplete pass to Jaylen Wright on a fourth down. Ball was a little high. Turnover on downs. Then the Lions drive begins with a 20-yard pass to a Monra St. Brown who ran a deep in route. Cornell Armstrong in coverage. Goff finds tight end Brock Wright for a short yardage gain. Five yards out for five yardd out for wide receiver Ronnie Bell giving Lions the first down. Goff connects with tight end for a sevenyard gain. Goff finds a Monra St. Brown ruled incomplete. Ref had the ball touched the ground. Looked good though. Now third down. Goff pass to JMO. Goes long on the opposite side. Storm Duck draws a PI. Little scrimmage just happened in the middle of the field when practice was over. Unsure who was involved. Um, apparently it was ex Lions of Fatu Melanu and I don’t remember who the other guy was. Uh, but there you go. That was practice. And you know, a lot of Lions beat writers saying uh believe J uh Jason Williams and Fatu it was Jason Jameson Williams. There we go. And Fatu Melanu were the ones who fought. Uh, also Lions beat Ryder said, “Either the Dolphins are really bad or Lions are just juggernauts. Not a great day for Miami. This was the uh the most lopsided joint practice I’ve ever seen. Lions dominated both sides. Lions just out everything the Dolphins for two hours here. A lopsided joint practice as I’ve ever seen one.” Um, but then you get some perspective here from another Lions beat writer. He says, “Dolphin’s secondyear edge rusher Derrick McClendon was easily the most impressive defensive player today, earning pass rushing wins in both one-on- ones and team drills. He even lined up inside and rotated with the first team. He sure seemed like a keeper. Grayson Murphy and Zach Cer were other standouts even as their defenses were marched up and down on the field.” Before we get into little things that Tua said and other stuff, I will say this. Take what you’re hearing and take what is happening seriously. Right? This is something obviously that is not good. But also, let’s let it play out before we cry that the sky is falling because like one of the plays said, if this was live action, some things probably wouldn’t have happened. there might have been more sacks, uh, more physicality on the defensive side of the ball, especially from our pass rushers. So, you know, it’s a bad practice and it’s another joint bad practice and thankfully I will be there for the joint practice against the Jaguars. So, I’ll be able to tell you like really what’s going on and we should have a better practice against the Jaguars and we are facing a top draft pick in Hunter. Um, but again, it’s a bad practice and they have to respond to this. I said they had to respond to the Bears and they come out and do this. Well, now you have a one day turnover with tomorrow. Uh, you got to respond 100,000%. You have got to respond. And then we’ll see how they do on Saturday cuz Saturday is essentially the dress rehearsal, the second preseason game. Normally, it’s the third preseason game when we had four of them, but the second preseason game is the dress rehearsal, and I expect to see two of more than one drive. Got to respond on defense and on offense. You got to you got to do something in live tackling to the ground uh style of play because this just wasn’t good. It just wasn’t good. Uh they asked Tua about a tough practice and how do you move on from? He says you don’t. He says you face it headon. Tua said it was frustrating a day for the offense. said they never really seem to be able to get a jump start. Um, and some of that could be because, and again, this is where you kind of take it at face value. Um, because Tyreek Hill and Jay Wall weren’t out there for uh the team drills. So that having Tyreek Hill out there probably would have completely changed the dynamic of the offense. And this is why these rumors uh swirling around about the Dolphins trading him before August 31st are nonsense because uh this offense needs him to be that distraction, I guess you can say. Focus on Tyreek, focus on Tyreek, throw the other way. But they need need need to have a bounceback tomorrow. Not even just from a fundamental standpoint, but from a more um I was gonna say a moral standpoint, but you know what I’m trying to say. You know, they the mentality that they need to have. You know, I like that Jordan Brooks is fighting. I like that the defense is not rolling over. I like all this stuff. Um but it’s got to be better than this. It’s definitely has to be better than this. Too many scares on injuries. So, we definitely won’t have chop tomorrow. You know, Alec Engold is dealing with a concussion where that that’s where the run game physicality is out the window. Uh we have both of our starting receivers limited. That’s where most of our offense is out the window. There’s a lot of stuff that you could take into perspective. But again, on the other hand, don’t just poo poo what happened today because it needs to be fixed. and Mike McDaniel coming out saying, you know, it’s just more nonsense or more, you know, talking. My man, your team is getting run over first by the well, not on defense, by the off by the defense of the Chicago Bears. You’re getting run over and now Detroit just manhandled you on both sides of the ball. That just shows how bad the uh the Bears offense is right now. I got obviously they are installing a new offense so it’s going to take a hot minute but Lions are a top five team in the NFL and this is what you’re going to get when you’re facing a top five team. So you want to play with the big boys. You got to be able to handle and stay with the big boys. So we’ll see how tomorrow goes. Hopefully it’s a bounceback but today was a bad day. Uh got a big scare. Thankfully nothing’s wrong. Uh hopefully we get some news tomorrow that it’s, you know, a bruise or whatever and he’ll be good for the 19th, you know, when we open it back up to the public. So, comment below. Let me know what your guys thoughts are. I will say this, don’t sky isn’t falling quite yet. Let’s see how the season goes. I’ll start to I said this last year. I think I said I gave it to week four, week five when I started, you know, worrying and around week four, week five, I was like, we need to start firing people. So, I’m a man of my word, so I’m not going to freak out just yet. But this ain’t good. They need to rebound. They need to bounce back. I’ll see you tomorrow. But like usual, stay classy and f out.

Finz up
The chargers lost their starting LT for the season
It's gonna come to a point where players don't want to practice to avoid injuries. Then they will want more money not to practice. Lol
amazing how well the lions built there team up compared to the dolphins.. that team is as good as the eagles
Was dialed in has a small window our offensive line depth is like a Gun pointed directly at our head. That depth needs to be approved hopefully after league cut downs
Aight Douglas…I hear you reporting what's been told, but geeze…how many joint practices, preseason games, etc., went well, and we did just as good or better and it had little to do with the outcome of the season? Like, didn't you guys say the same about the preseason that we were the greatest show on surf (or whatever nickname they called us)? Then, we did really well in the preseason in some of those Gase years, and we did meh…in all honesty, if we don't make the Superbowl, if ANY TEAM doesn't make the Superbowl, it doesn't really matter. We need to stop feeding into the narrative that reporters and the NFL keep pushing on us. Not saying that we need to fix things, but man…y'all killing me. I want ALL OF THE WORST things to happen in camp, so it can be seen and worked on before the rosters are set and the season has started and becomes hard to fix, and/or grab guys to help fix it…PERIOD…
in pratice its better to have bad days than good ones.. exposing weakness only helps teams to fix them
Also, thank you for ALL you do man, even though I disagree (like .002% of the time, 😂) with you sometimes, I still appreciate you giving us our Phin fix!!
The sky isn’t falling yet I let me tell you it looks like there’s a bad thunderstorm on the horizon
man zack wilson taking more sacks with dolphins than he did with the dang jets lmao
8:43 jamo is short for Jameson williams
Jamo is Jameson Williams not Jahmyr Gibbs just so you don’t get confused
See the problem when you have millions of dollars and a labor agreement that creates a league wide environment were you dont hit, you dont train, you are limited in so many ways you need to do to be hard enough when these grown men start hitting. Millionaires think they train hard, but the problem is you have to train like you want to kill people. NFL players just dont do it any more. They work hard but they dont train and work like the old guys why they get hurt. Notice its the CB's league wide. They all make the big bucks and they all are thin quick guys who just cant hold up to the speed and power of the game. We have a millionaire life style that is further worsened by a collective bargaining agreement that does not create dogs that can bite. Also why NFL players cant tackle, I mean its called tackle football and todays players just cant tackle.
Jabz are taking their toll on injuries as they have caused vascular damage limiting blood flow.
I think we are in a negative death spiral as far as the media goes, I thought we played better than the Bears, I think we are going to be fine, we would be much better if we would get a couple more CB's but that is not going to happen till the last week of camp. Tua, Hill, Waddle and Waller get in sink along with what looked like some good RB's I think we will be fine.
Hey Doug are you and reason still doing your show?
If a RB fumbles, thats sucks. If a RB fumbles again, he's 'loose with it' and summarily is attacked so as to strip the ball from this 'fumbler'. Same with perception of this team as being 'Soft' and now every team is coming at them to 'punch them in the mouth' to loosely paraphrase. To anyone watching, the Dolphins have taken steps in the right direction but this isn't going away until Miami is the one doing the punching. They have the players to do it..we'll see.
“Jamo” is Jameson Williams, not Gibbs.
Between pork rinds qb and coach Capri pants, this will be a long embarrassing season
Seems good to hear the team is playing with chipiness. I don't take practice too serious when you have to get 90 guys rotated around to see what you have. I do like the preseason games they are a little better benchmark of how the team is looking. I will keep doing as you do knock on wood and stay positive things will look good when regular season starts. The injury bug to me also I am fine with rather it get out of the Dolphins system early and not have it happen during the season.
I've heard that Miami had a rough joint practice, but from the play-by-play, it feels like it was right down the middle to me…
Am I crazy?
Could it be that Lions beat writers are more team homers?
I know Poup and Omar are not Dolphin fans so they won't sugarcoat anything….?
Just spitballing here, but the to me at least, the play-by-play does not support a Lions whooping
THEY PLAYED OUR JV TEAM !!!!!!
Not just Dolphin fans that are happy that chop was okay Lions fans are happy he is okay this is a game and you hate seeing real people hurt playing a game so as a Lions fan I am so happy he is alright ❤
I used to like mike McDaniel but the more I hear his voice the more I want him gone
We didn’t have Hill Waddle Philips Jackson Ingold of Chop. Jfc.
We left the Orange Bowl now we're jinxed 🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬
We are definitely getting the first pick in next year's draft!! 😂😂
Didn't kader say sumn similar on social media after he got hurt earlier this off season?
Shall we trade Tyreek hill for another star player plus first round?
Say what you say but the offense of talent is there idc if waddle and hill wasn’t out there Mike should find a way to manipulate these defense I’m really thinking it’s the play caller it just feels like every defensive coach two steps ahead of him🤷🏾♂️ the people who know me knows I been saying he need to step down from play calling and focus on being the head coach when we had our good run I was saying the play calling was suspect (every thing that glitters not gold)now it’s really showing 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
McDaniels will be gone after this year
This needed to happen, show the locker room. Ask them is this what “tuff” looks like or what “soft” looks like . This should either help the team actually get tuff or it’s a for shadow that this team will never be “tuff”
I’m all about being positive. But McDaniel is done dude. Guys a joke.
Not as bad as it sounds. Not many CBs is stopping St Brown and most of the sacks and pressures is Hutchinson killing our backup RT. Defense played decent and run game had some explosives.. pass game wasn't great but no Reek and Waddle very limited having those 2 cuts back on sacks and Jackson is much better then Borum at RT (spelling?) Most Lions beat writers are VERY biased
Has modern training methods to make the players bigger stronger quicker made them also less durable?
Didn’t Tua have two interceptions
It sounds like nothing has changed
This team is soft there is no denying it. It starts with the head coach. I was going to give them the benefit of the doubt and see if they can actually change but doesn't look like that's going to happen. Most likely 2026 will be a fresh start of a new rebuild for this team. Grier should not be running an NFL team.
7 -10 .. Dolphins will completely implode by mid season. Zack Wilson will play in a least 4 gms due to a Tua injury..
In my Jim Mora voice : Play offs ? pfft, Play offs ?
Hate to say it but I've lost all faith in McDaniel, I think way over his head in running the team and play calling has been horrible. He does not know how to adjust to how the defense is playing. We've had a lot of talent on this team last 4 years and nothing to show for it
Going to be a LONG season people but just took for the light at the end of the tunnel. The Dolphins will hopefully have a REAL GM in 2026.
