Endy Rodríguez Undergoes Ulnar Nerve Transposition Surgery

  1. This guy’s elbow is toast and he can’t play C anymore. Honestly I don’t see what he brings to this roster for next season and what his role even is.

  2. Probably time to find something else to do with his life. That’s hard, but there it is. Not that I blame the guy for deciding to have the surgery—might as well try everything within reason to keep playing before you throw in the towel—but just one of the operations he’s had on his throwing arm would put his career in doubt. Both of them? Well….

  3. Think some people here are confusing this with a UCL injury. Granted I’ve never been anywhere near an elite athlete, but I had this surgery done by a military doctor 20 years ago and it wasn’t at all a big deal. Only reminders of the surgery are an ugly scar and I can bang the shit out of my elbow all day long without a funny bone to tickle.

  4. I’m seeing 5-6 month recovery for this but sometimes doesn’t work? Not sure what to make but seems like he could be cleared to play early next season. Would be surprised if they keep him catching though.

  5. Remember not long ago when some folks were saying we had a surplus of catching? Where were they all going to play? Turns out between Endy, Henry and Bart, we maybe have an MLB-level backup catcher. Maybe.

  6. I’m confused. Why did it take so long for him to get this procedure done? He’s been on the shelf for a while. If the person commenting in this thread about a recovery time of 5-6 months he could have had so much time to be ready for opening day next year. Now, his recovery time has to be almost perfect for him to even have a shot.

Like, I’ve been underwhelmed with him so far but the dude is constantly battling injuries.

  7. Makes this trade deadline make much more sense at least. #worsttradedeadline #selltheteam
