Owen Caissie has been called up

  1. Well, guess I can cash in on my “OC getting called up during the Toronto series” prop bet I made

  2. Sweet that he is getting his debut in Canada!

I’m a Friars fan first (grew up there) and Cubs second (WGN back in Kerry Wood days then lived near Wrigley for a few years mid teens). TBH, Cassie doesn’t even register on the long list of prospect Preller has traded. Well done to the Cubs on picking well and developing him.

  3. K rate has really lowered over the past few weeks. Only striking out at around 15% of abs his past ten games iirc

  4. Very interesting! Will he start or come off the bench? Hoping they give em a start and let Happ grab some bench.

  5. Crazy that we have no idea which of the 4 Outfielders could be taking a break. Happ, PCA, Tuck, Seiya…maybe they rotate everyone taking a break?

Tuck seems the most urgent need of a reset. This offense doesn’t move without him. Pete also looks like he’s about to break a bat over his leg. Happ was never really apart of the equation this year besides just be yourself, whatever that may be…

  6. so Hoerner, Busch, Happ, Seiya, shaw, Kelly, Tucker, PCA, if Maguire starts/Caissie? Hoerner and Happ are good for running pitch count up. Really can’t hurt to move Shaw up and Tucker down. Swanson was moved earlier in season. PCA was 7th also, so it makes sense to move Shaw up. Hell maybe even flip Tucker and PCA.

  7. Rogers saying that Caissie could start at DH. That’s bad news for Happ, bc I don’t think it’s Seiya who will sit most games.

  8. Might as well with the expanded roster. Hope he provides a spark & this should help them realize it’ll be good to extend tucker even if caissie is doing good

  9. Nice. I’m just worried about how he strikes out at an alarming rate. Buuuuut, he gets on base. Actually draws walks too. Cant wait to see how he does

  10. So, this is a bit of a tinfoil hat post, but I’m wondering if it’s just for a day. I say that for three reasons …

    – if Caissie comes up now and stays up, he loses his rookie eligibility for 2026. (https://x.com/CBSScottWhite/status/1955825752252833880?t=GWFYCB4EhJhhScCXkYGECg&s=19)

    – I’m wondering if it would’ve been an issue getting Ballesteros into Canada on short notice (Venezuelan citizen), while Caissie is obviously Canadian.

    – Caissie is from Burlington, which is in the greater Toronto area. It would give his family and friends a chance to see his debut. His HS is about a 45 min drive from the stadium.

Also, they had no problem bringing up Ballesteros for just one game last time up. If Caissie goes back down, he’ll be able to keep his rookie status next year and still come back up later this season (as soon as 10 days).

  11. Some people are getting this worked up over… the 45th best prospect?

The bar has really been lowered.

  12. I am psyched! This team needed some life and he has hit too well not to get a shot.

  13. Hey little Donna, still wanna? They said to call Owen Caissie up when I was in Toronta.

  14. Happ’s gonna need to start taking some extra grounders at 2B/3B in case of emergency

  15. Tucker hit the ball pretty hard a couple times tonight, one to the warning track. He might be coming out of it. You can’t bench him.

  16. If you’re going to hug prospects, refusing to trade them, call them up and give them a chance. Can’t be any worse than the current iterations that are Happ, PCA, Seiya, and Tucker. This should’ve been done sooner.
