The single nastiest rep of the day came against Byron Murphy. He wins at the line of scrimmage, but Byron Murphy’s pretty much in phase. I’m not sure why he breaks down right about here, but Stefon Diggs gets a little bit of space. He’s gone. A perfect ball from Drake May right about here. Makes this a touchdown, but Drake May doesn’t give him a good ball, so Stefon Diggs has to adjust. You ever heard of late hands? Not letting the DB know where the football is because you don’t show your hands. You show the ball late. That’s exactly what Stefon Diggs does here. Byron Murphy’s got no clue where this football is. You see Diggs has to stop and react cuz Drake May doesn’t give him a great ball. Watch how close this ball gets. His hands aren’t even out yet, guys. Late hands. Boom. Two feet in. 30 yard play. This rep is against Jeff Okuda. Watch him immediately make Jeff Okuda open the gate right there. Right. He’s already off balance. He missed the jam. Stefon Diggs flies by. As soon as he flies by, he restacks. So, he can go to the inside, he can go to the outside, and Jeff Okuda has no choice but to react because he’s on Stefon Diggs back. Look how much separation Stefon Diggs creates when he puts his left foot in the ground here. Oh my goodness. Outside of the highlights, though, it’s important to understand that he’s finding soft spots in zone. He’s becoming Drake May’s safety valve. You’re going to get a double A gap pressure.
