Wednesday MLB Picks Today | Dodgers vs Angels | Rays vs Athletics | MLB Predictions 8/13/25

Wednesday night Major League Baseball. Two late night games, both on MLB Network. I’m going to give them both to you. Doesn’t matter which one you get. You’re going to have both free here with analysis coming up for Wednesday night. Hi, this is Steve Merrill, wagerTalk.com. Right back here on Wager Talk TV. We’re going to break down the Dodgers Angels and also the Rays Athletics. And these are the two late night games Simocast on MLB Network across the country. You’ll get one or the other. They’ll probably be going back and forth on both. So, let’s give you free plays in both. And we’ll start with the first game on the schedule, which goes uh what time is this? 9:38 Eastern, right? Cuz it’s an LA Angels home game, which means it’s that weird 9:38 start time. The Athletics game, by the way, goes at 10:05 Eastern. Dodgers Angels. Hey, Dodgers back-to back outright losses the last two nights in Anaheim. Dodgers now just 12- 18 their last 30. Angels uh respectable 14- 16 their last 30. So, neither team in very good current form, but I do think the Dodgers bounce back tonight. And we always look to play them on the run line and it’s been a strategy that’s worked very well. I know they haven’t covered the last two nights, but by playing the run line, you’ve drastically reduced the loss on the big price favorite. And it’s something that continues to work. In fact, in 40 of their last 43 games, the Dodgers have either lost outright or won by two runs or more. And in only 28% of the games this year, have they won by exactly one run. So once again, of their wins, 72% of their wins this year have been by two runs or more. And once again, over the last 43 games, 40 of the last 43 times this season, they’ve either lost outright like the last couple nights, or they’ve won by two or more. I think they win tonight. They most likely win by margin. And I do like the Dodgers on the run line. So instead of laying the minus 200 price with LA, get it down to a much more reasonable minus 125 range with Otani, who’s always worth backing on the hump. That’s at 9:38 Eastern tonight on Wednesday. All right, your other game is at 10:05 Eastern. Once again, the Rays and Athletics, the homeless Oakland Athletics, don’t you dare call them Sacramento A’s. Don’t understand why they’re going to be there for a few years, but the Athletics nonetheless do play in Sacramento. It’s a hitter friendly minor league ballpark, and whenever it’s hot and humid like it is this time of the year, we always lean over, but there’s not a lot of value with the over tonight. That’s why I left it off my card at 9 and a half. Um, it’s over that key number of nine. Uh, so while over is the only way I would play the total, I actually think the side presents a little bit of a better value here with the Tampa Bay Rays. And yes, they did not look good last night, 6 nothing loss, but keep in mind that first game in Sacramento on Monday, they put up seven runs and I believe they had, what was it, 15 hits, left 10 or 10 runners on base, offensive outburst, and they were called the weekend in Seattle. Eight hits or less in every game. But Seattle’s a very pitcher friendly ballpark. So now that they’re in a more hitter friendly park, I look for them in the breakout tonight. And they should have success against JT again, a very mediocre starter on the mound, 4.4 RA this year and an even weaker four 5.0 in his last seven starts going back to April. Meanwhile, Drew Rasmusen, very underrated pitcher this year, one of the most underrated pitchers in the big leagues for several years now. Uh last year he only had 28 innings of work, but had a 2.8 RA. 2023 he only had 44 innings of big league work, a 2.6, but it wasn’t misleading. He’s pitched 111 innings plus this year with a 2.7 RA. He doesn’t look like he’s wearing down. A solid 3.3 erra RA over his last seven starts since the end of June. Big pitching edge on the mound and of course a huge bullpin edge. A’s have one of the worst bullpens in baseball. I think both offenses are pretty equal. I like the Rays here to bounce back off the shutout 6 nothing loss. They should be focused for that reason and we get them at a pretty short price here. Minus $130 tonight. Take a look at the Tampa Bay Rays -130. Rasm mustard over again that goes at 10:05 Eastern.
