The boys are playing to the level that would have made Tony proud—I just know it. He and Peter are smiling down from heaven.

  2. Does the grounds clean up extra stuff? Against rules?

I’d imagine more baseball/Padres things left behind. I know some places are picky. But also, many famous gravesites also have mementos left there by fans and loved ones.

  3. If we ever win it all, I’ll think of my father who took me to games throughout my childhood and I’ll think of Tony Gwynn, my father’s favorite professional athlete.

  4. Discovered baseball in 1986 when I moved in with my grandparents. They were padres fans back to the old PCL days and before. I was fortunate to grow up living the game and watching Tony. Absolute legend of a player and human being.

  5. As someone who has only been into MLB and a Padres fan for about 2-3 years.. I totally understand how important Tony Gwynn was to the Padres and to baseball in general. Watching old footage of him playing and interviews of him gives you a very strong understanding of what this guy was all about.

RIP Mr. Padre!!! We’re gonna win you a World Series this year!
