Tigers vs. Twins Game Highlights (8/14/25) | MLB Highlights

It’s never hard to muster up some energy when you’re getting ready to take on the first place team in your own division. Trick is going to look to bounce back. I would hate to be the lineup that has to face him today after he went less than five innings for the first time since 2023 in his last outing against the Angels. Bailey Ober here in game one of this series. It’ll be Bailey’s third start is coming off the IIL. Tough luck loss his last time out right here at Target Field against the Kansas City Royals. Six innings in that game. Only four hits, one run allowed. Swung on a miss. He struck him out and down goes Keith. Promising start for Bailey Ober. A 1-1 on the ground to the right side for Luke Keshaw. Sucks it off the dirt, throws over to Julian at first. Great start for Bailey over 11 pitch. One, two, three, first inning. Teroo. Yeah. And you know the big man’s going to come at him with the fast ball change up. He’ll throw some sliders, mix in a knuckle curve once in a while, but to these righties, you’re going to see that fast ball change up combo. His is as good as anybody’s. And that’s a four pitch walk. So Ryan Jeffers off base percentage over 350 adding two those numbers. And here is Luke Kishaw. First one to him is sliced to center field but playable for Jav Bayz to retire this side on 11 pitches even with a walk. Riley Green leads off the second inning. Swing and a miss on 22 and down he goes for his major league leading 159th time. And grounded back to Bailey. Outstanding start for over. Six up, six down. Warnick has actually hit Scooble better than any of his teammates. He’s three for eight right side and underneath the glove of Torlson. So Trevor Lick is on. Twins have their second base runner tonight. There is hit number one against school right at shortstop. Sweeney for Torres. Look up. Double play. You’re going to see that Taylor made double play ball. Torlson feels very good about how the way the way that inning ended earlier today. Rockco Ball Deli was talking about Bailey Ober and said if you know Bailey, you know right now the goal is to go on a nice run and get in a rhythm. Tied him up. There’s a swing and a miss up and inside. Third strike out for over struck came out. Same spot that Bailey went to get Dingler up and inside. Eddie Julian first base again tonight. Two for 20 against left-handed pitching at the big league level this season. as Julian unloads to right field and deep back it goes and that is gone. The first lefty to take TKO deep all year is Eddie Julian and the Twins have a one- nothing lead and that was a sinker from Scooball. Clearly didn’t sink. That’s letter high to Julian. He does a really nice job of getting on top as Martin will take a timeout. Austin lined out to Tolson and the pitch is pulled sharply past the diving third baseman McKinstry into the left field corner. Martin takes the turn at first and cruises into second base with a stand up double on an 02 count. First double for Martin this season. Sixth hit off a lefty. And here is Buckton lined to short and into left field. Austin Martin will stop at third base as Buckton took a big turn just past the diving Sweeney. And the Twins three straight hits have runners at the corners for Ryan Jeffers. Buckton stays 3-2. Chopper weekly left side only played to first as Martin scores RBI Ryan Jeffers his 41st RBI. You can see the frustration on Scoo’s face too. So now Luke Keshaw had a great swing off Scooble lined out to deep center line to left center field over the head of Trey Sweeney. Byron Buckton scores another two out impactful swing from the rookie Luke Keshaw. It is three nothing at Target Field. Two down for Carrie Carpenter. Line drive fair down the right field line into the corner. Extra bases for Carrie Carpenter. Lick will have to go to the corner to field it. Gets it in to the second baseman. Keel Carpenter with a two out line drive double. First base runner of the night. Comes with two outs here in the fourth. That brings up Riley Green. He saw six pitches, five fast balls first time up and struck out. That’s a high-fly ball and it is annihilated for a two-run home run. Three-2 just like that. Riley Green gets you right back into the ball game very quickly. That one sailed way over the right field fence. Good contact. Good swing from Riley Green. So two down for over here in the fifth. And Trey Sweeney got it out to Royce Lewis to the right side. Diving pick made by Julian. He’ll find Bailey and there’s out number three. Boy, Julian, he’s had some rough moments defensively at first base, but not there. Robbing Sweeney of a two out single. Obvious saw a three ball count in his first atbat. Unofficially on my scorecard. That’s one of three three ball counts tonight for Bailey Ober. Jav right field line. That is fair. Slicing toward the corner. Lick is after it. Jav is on his way into second base. It is a leadoff double here in the sixth. Yep. See, he’s not trying to do too much. He let the ball travel a little bit. Suck the hands in. Just get barrel to it. Got himself a double. That brings up Cole Keith again. Bailey over hitable by righties, lefties for average for power. Third trip through the order starts now with Cole Keith on a fast ball that’s into right center field. Birthday boy Colt Keith has tied the game. Throws that barrel at it. Hooks it over to second baseman Kishel for a base hit. RBI. Jav comes around to score. You got a tie ball game. Carrie Carpenter is number two. So that’s why he gets targeted here. Riley Green right behind him. This is four games in five for Thunderberg. He’s the only lefty down there. If Roco Baldelli wants to match up, it’s Thunderberg or bust. This one rolled weekly. It’s Thunderberg fielding. Has to throw and Julian kept the foot on the bag. So Thunderberg pouncing off the mound and the throw did force Julian to stretch, catch, and for now it’s out number two. No challenge from AJ Hinch and that’s ball four. So frustration there from Thunderberg. And now look out this match up. Spencer Torlson OPS near 980 off left-handed pitching. 20 to right and playable. Trevor Lick will squeeze it and the inning ends. Teroo is done for the night. He hands off a tie game to the relatively newly acquired Finnegan against key part of the order. Yeah, this is a big spot right here. Facing some of the most dangerous hitters in this Twins lineup. Highf fly ball deep left field and to the wall it goes and Green makes the catch. Oh man, what a play. Tip of the cap from Byron Buckton out to Riley Green. Riley Green does it again. The two swing and a miss. Good splitter took Jeffers almost down to a knee. Two-2 check swing. He did strike three. Finnegan another clean sheet in a Tiger uniform. He’s been great. Yeah, he has. Lee responsible for three walk-offs this season. Line to right center field in the gap and that’s going to roll. Lee to second. He’ll stop there. Winning run at second base. A ninth inning double from Brooks Lee. And now a base hit away from winning this ball game. Swinging a fly ball left center field fairly deep. Riley Green calling forward. He goes back to his left, makes the catch. We’re headed to extra innings in Minnesota. And Cole Sans after a scoreless ninth. Back out for the 10th. He struck him out. 95 top rail. Just reached back and blew that one by him. You don’t need a run, but boy, you’re in real trouble if you don’t get one. Left side. That’s to shortstop. Fitzgerald plants and throws and got it there. He’s safe. Julian came off the bag. He reached across to make the catch and he wandered off the bag as it happened. So the Tigers have first and third. One pitch swung on and popped into the air right center field. Fairly shallow. Lornick Martin. It’s going to be Martin’s ball. He’s got it. And Cole Sans does the job. So we’ll see if Gasper he tried to bunt left-handed unsuccessfully on the right side. Will he try again? And hopefully if he does success successful tonight. Bunts it first base. It’s well done and he’s tagged out. So Gasper got it done. Roden 90 ft away from winning this game and a chance for Austin Martin. One out runner at third. It’s a little check swing grounder. Torque’s coming home. The tag is there. He is out. Dingler got it down on Roden. Nice play by Dingler to get the tag down in time. Looks like they’re going to have a little review for fun sake. It is close. It is close. It looked like Dingler got the tag down. After review, the call of the field is confirmed. The runner is out. Minnesota loses a challenge. Rasmo can get through this part. Tougher part of the lineup. 234 here for the Tigers. Yanked it in the dirt and that’s going to get cold. Keith over to third as the ball gets by Jeffers. Wild pitch puts a runner at third with nobody out. Who needs bunting when you can have that? Swinging a highf fly ball right field. This will get the run home. Lick back to his left now in. Makes the catch. Keith will tag. come home. Throw to the plate. Not in time. Strong throw by Lick. Colt. He scores. A wild pitch helps the Tigers take the lead here in the 11th. Jeffers tonight 0 for three with an RBI. Again, the O2 to Jeffers. One out. Oh, Jeffers saying that hit the ground. It certainly looked like it did. And Roco’s been thrown out and the hat comes off. He wasn’t happy with the strike zone early. They’ve been frustrated all night with the inconsistencies in the strike zone. Soft ground ball to the left side. Charging McKinstry. Sticks that glove out field. Fires. Got him at first. Fine play by Zack McKinstry. Soft little roller. He had to do everything perfectly and he did. Tying run at third and it’s up to Royce Lewis. Monto and Lewis check swing. He went around. The Tigers make it after all. It is a 43 final in
