Colin Cowherd calls Miami Dolphins MOST overvalued team, Vikings most undervalued? | THE HERD NFL
I this I I’ve never been able to figure out team valuations. So, Sportico, not Forbes, my bad. Sportico came out with a list of NFL team valuations. Now, there there’s obviously the size of the city matters a lot. Uh you know, number one was the Dallas Cowboys. They are kind of the Yankees, although I I tend to think America’s team right now is the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City, San Francisco, and then Dallas. Um, uh, there was a time in my life I thought the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 707s were America’s team. So you for our radio audience, I’m not going to read all of them, but it goes up. Cowboys, Rams, obviously LA, Sofi Stadium is a magnificent facility. Giants, Patriots, Boston, San Francisco, Eagles, Dolphins, Jets, I get all of them. Here’s what’s amazing. Now, Chiefs are only 16 because the game day revenue, it’s just a smaller market. I am always amazed at how overvalued the Dolphins are. And I’ll tell you why. It’s a distracted market with the world’s best beaches, arguably a transient market, and the average incomes are $55,000 per fan. So, that’s not a lot of that’s not a lot of money for game day revenue. I’ve never understood that. It’s a very distracted transient market. Uh that doesn’t necessarily always draw well. It’s not a corporate hub. So, when you look, this is why I don’t get valuations. It’s not a knock on Miami, but where is where are the Minnesota Vikings? They’re not in the top half. It’s a corporate hub. No competition from a beach or even a college football program to take, you know, money away or people away. It’s not a highly transient market. Yeah. They have the Vikings below Tampa Bay, Green Bay, Miami. Is Has anybody ever been to Minnesota? It’s like got some of the highest most educated people, highly corporate, good annual revenues. You’re not distracted, maybe the best stadium in the league. Every seat is taken. They have very good local, you know, radio revenues. Uh I have never figured this out. Like I lived in Tampa. It’s not a corporate hub. Meaning Minnesota can go to its corporations and sell tens of thousands of tickets and suites. You’re not doing that in Tampa. When I lived in Tampa, there was only one Fortune 500 company. It was Raymond James, the the in investment bank or investment firm. Uh so Tampa’s not a corporate hub. Miami is bigger than Tampa in terms of corporate and Miami is also exploding in terms of tech growth, but I mean you’re telling me Minnesota and the Titans are close. I don’t understand it. I Same thing in baseball. Everybody’s always like Minnesota’s a small market team. Look at the corporations in Minnesota. It’s right in the middle of the country. One of the one of the best airports. And there’s all sorts of corporate money there. Meaning, there’s a lot of executives. There’s a lot of money. I don’t get it. I I I just have never understood this. The Minnesota Vikings are essentially the Kansas City Chiefs without Momes. They’ve always been well-run, always been well capitalized, had a lot of great coaches. I mean, my staff put this down. Just these alone, Target base there, General Mills, United Healthcare, they’re all headquartered in Minneapolis. An average uh uh salary for fans. It’s got to be one of the top 10 in the league. I don’t get it. I don’t get valuations. I do get Bo Nicks who was only ranked 20th among NFL execs in the Mike Sando annual athletic poll. I I asked Greg Kosell earlier is he ranked 20th because executives in this league hold Shawn Payeyton in such high regard. If a quarterback is well coached with a really good coordinator and a really good scheme and a well-designed system, that that’s somehow a knock on the quarterback. I don’t really understand that because that’s kind of what the coach is supposed to do. Um, you know, I and I think that Bo Nicks showed a lot last year with the kinds of throws that he made. I mean, he made a lot of big-time throws between the numbers. He showed more arm strength, quite honestly, than I thought he had coming out of Oregon. Yeah. Yeah. I I don’t get the uh shade with Boon Knicks. So, um but I but I will tell you if Caleb Williams can play and again I showed I’ll show it at the top of the hour. If you got 15% improvement with Caleb Williams, it’s a it’s I mean the numbers will be he’ll complete 71% of his throws. But Bo Knicks can play. Drake May can absolutely play. Um Jaden Daniels is a star. I’m a strong believer in Michael Penn. I have my doubts on JJ McCarthy, but he has such a strong support system. And with the Vikings and Okonnell and and the receiving core, we may have a six for six class if Caleb Williams can play a five for five or a six for six class. Um Cam Ward’s going to work. I don’t know to what level he’ll work. And and what’s interesting next year is Cade Clubick for Clemson is the real deal, folks. He is big. He can move. He doesn’t turn the ball over. He’s really good. Five-star high school kid. Been great at Clemson. Arch Manning can play. Drew Aller can play to some level. We got three guys I absolutely believe are franchise quarterbacks. I I don’t know about the kid at South Carolina. I’m not quite sure about Nuspire at LSU. Let’s say they improve. They get 15 more starts and they improve and they become first round picks. That means like two out of the last three years, we could have five to six first round level quarterbacks. And I I I’m going to tell you when I watch the kid at Clemson, I watch Arch Manning and Drew Aller, there’s a lot to like. There is a ton. And and listen, Bo Knicks, people add doubts on. Bon Knicks can play. Absolutely can play. All right, Colin, I know you’re very excited about the Cleveland Browns quarterback situation. Well, Shadur obviously very good in the uh opening preseason game, but he will miss this weekend. Dylan Gabriel will get his first action. Remember, he’s been out with a hammy. And here’s what he had to say. The young quarterback from Oregon. I don’t know if I can answer that question, but I will say I I do feel better um from from day one, and it’s just been a good progression. So, you just want to keep stacking it that way and and keep feeling better. So, want to continue that trend. I have no clue what’s going to happen. I’m just right where my feet are. But, um, time will tell and and we’ll see uh what happens, but it’s up to the coaches and, you know, we got a lot of time up to that point. Very interesting. I I like that. Uh, I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m right where my feet are. I haven’t heard that before. Have you? I like Yeah, I have. I like that. Yeah. It’s like I’m living the moment. I’m not going to think about week one. Yeah, I like that. Dylan Gabriel, if we’re picking horses, um I think you have Shidor and I have Dylan Gabriel, right? Yeah. I think uh I think he is a better prospect, but I think Dylan Gabriel’s had really really elite college coaching. I think anytime you get a quarterback that’s a little smaller, they play with a chip on their shoulder because they’ve been told several times in their football life they’re not big enough. So, I think Dylan is a really focused driven kid who throws a really, really pretty ball pretty ball. I do think size matters in this league. I you know I mean it’s I mean I only remember one small quarterback my entire childhood. Fran Tarkin for the Vikings. Everybody else was felt big. Wait, is Jaylen Herz considered small? Yes. Yeah. Yeah. I mean there’s a few and they’ve I mean Russell Wilson got to two Super Bowls. Jaylen Herz gets the Super Bowls. But by and large 62 and up has dominated the sport my entire life. So he is I mean listen Brock Pury admitted like a week ago in a podcast he’s like yeah 40% of the time I don’t see the throw. where it goes. So I mean it matters.
Colin Cowherd reacts to the list of the NFL’s most valuable franchises. He discusses which teams are under and overvalued. Why are the Miami Dolphins the most overvalued franchise? Why are the Minnesota Vikings the most undervalued franchise? Colin also talks about why Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix is one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the NFL. Finally Colin and Jason McIntyre talk about Dillon Gabriel’s upcoming start with the Cleveland Browns after Shedeur Sanders started in Week 1 of preseason.

5:23 Clemsons QB is hot garbage. What are you talking about? 😂😂😂
Minnesota’s problem is their flamboyant male cheerleaders.
First 3 minutes tells you how out of touch this man is
I’ve learned over the years when Colin is evaluating college qb’s they have to all be 5 stars in high school for him to believe in them lol
Has he not been to S. FL? You will see people in fins gear damn near everywhere. Plus they do all kinds of events at the stadium that I'm sure won't go over in Minnesota.
Who creates the valuations? What's it based on? Cash flow, Goodwill, stadium equity? To me you don't know until a biggee goes up for sale. What did the commanders go for?
Did he just say Miami has the best beaches in the world what’s this flop smoking? He obviously hasn’t traveled to far 🤡🤡🤡
Not a fan of drew allar at all. Doesn't see the field well and thank God he had Tyler Warren at TE to save his trash. Pass.
Colin becomes more elitist by the day lol smh
He said the Buffalo Bills & Minnesota Vikings 😭😭😭 the reason they aren't valued higher is because no one OUTSIDE their local area gives af about them. OBVIOUSLY. Miami isn't valued high simply based on Miami alone, it's because OUTSIDE Miami they still have a bigger fan base & a similar one locally. Thinking he knows more than the people valuating these teams is the most Colin thing ever. Gotta love him tho haha.
It's ironic& funny that cowherd whom alongside his Obnoxious protege nickWrong are the most Overvalued talking heads in the business, would talk about "overvalued" Real Athletes.
I love everything with this dude revolves around the corporate bosses.
The only thing about the Vikings is that I don't think Vikings fans buy merch with as much fervor as everyone else, what with Midwesterners being generally pragmatic and kind of cheap, as well as jacket donning. I'm sure Eagles fans have like five different jerseys from their modern era, while Vikings fans are happy with one Fran Tarkenton jersey that their dad got them 50 years ago. I myself bought a Harrison Smith jersey 10 years ago and I haven't spent a dime on merch since. Don't get me wrong, Justin Jefferson jersey's sell, but it's very rare to see anyone wandering about with a different modern player's jersey.
Colin Coward You Suckz With You're Dumb Takes
Don't worry Colin, you'll know about the kid at South Carolina after the season
Who is overvaluing the dolphins at this point Colin? Colin just be talkin sometimes lol
Sorry, but until Travis and Taylor have nothing to do with KC they are America’s team. Buffalo might be America’s team for chiefs hating conspiracists, or people like Jason and Colin that seemingly want anyone but KC to have that title.
More Bo nix topics. Great
I have been saying since last season the fins are a .500 tram and will win 5-8 games this season. They have no depth anywhere on the team and no secondary outside of minkah
The Dolphins straight up own their stadium. It makes a difference.
Colin “highly transient” Cowherd
Dumb 🤦🏿 topic Colin! Regardless of how HE feels about the Dolphins 🐬 the City of Miami is way better than wherever you say is better 🤷🏿!
Now…The Miami Dolphins are the best-run Organization with the Best and Deepest worldwide fan base in Sports.
Then… 13 Revolutized QB position and Their Perfect Season Is The Best Season by any team in any sport ever. (without cheating😂)
53 years 17-0 and COUNTING.🎉
Finsup!
I’m trying to figure out when Colin decided Caleb is the only one “who can’t play”😂 This dude is obsessed.
