NBA LIVE! Golden State Warriors vs Detroit Pistons | August 15, 2025 | Warriors vs Pistons | 2K

teams are anchored by their big men and I think it’s going to be physical and highly intensified. And now the Golden State Warriors starters in the back court. We’ll see Curry and Pajki. Jimmy Butler is out there with Green and it’s healed in at the three. Cunningham’s shot is off. Green kicks to Kurt. Healed outside. Back to Curry and Cunningham with the block. Oh, great anticipation by Cunningham managing to get his hand on that shot. Vajky with it. Harris is there. It’s stolen by Cunningham. Goes up and Cunningham with the slam. Excellent on both ends of that play. Yeah, the steel was sharp, but the slam topped it off. And that is why you want to run off turnovers. Get down the floor before the defense is set. Back to Curry over Cunningham. Curry can’t get it to go. Pistons have gone one of three for the field to start this one so far. Pass to Duran. Shoots over Curry and he’s off on his first shot of the game. And it’s the Warriors ball. Three-pointer heel. It’s good. He makes his first shot of the game. And you’ve got to be up on heel, especially when he’s beyond the arc. If not, he’ll burn you. Harris looking it over. to the paint. The kick out to Cunningham and they come right back with their own three-point. Cunningham’s got five points so far. And here’s Curry who brings it up for Golden State trailing by two. Pass to Heel. Vajki on the wing to count that bucket. Well, you love the unselfishness, makes the next pass and enables his team to capitalize on the possession. And you look at the Detroit Pistons, Stan, so much young talent, but the chemistry is a work in progress clearly. Well, it is, Kevin, and they’re working on it, but it’s hard with so many new faces, and they still need a second and third guy that they can build around. They’ve got a lot of good role players, but they need a couple more stars. And we’ve got a timeout called by Steve Kerr. He’s ready to talk things through with the team. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. So, it’s the Warriors now trailing by two outside Curry. It’s stolen by Cunningham. Shot on the way and there’s Thompson. That’s good on the assist by Cunningham. Oh, defending Cunningham. Boy, a challenge. You have to pay extra attention. That’s when you leave someone open. Pompeki finds Curry. Takes a three. Drills it from outside. and they don’t want to get in a habit of giving him open looks from three. First quarter still, but not who you want to leave open. First quarter play and just over three and 1/2 minutes in, it’s picked off. Pass to Penski. Some nice passing by Golden State. That’s tipped. Shot clock at six. Second shot opportunity. Thompson with the rebound. Detroit’s gone one or two from long range in the first quarter. Jimmy Butler with the rebound. Golden State’s gone two of two from three-point range here in the first quarter. Outside Green pass to Pajki and here is Heield. He’s covered by Thompson. Goes up from the top of the key. Shot is good off the back rim and in. Heel’s got five points so far. The jumper is the calling card of Buddy Heel. It’s why he’s been able to score points consistently in his career. Here’s Thompson covered by Heel. Pass to Ivy. Detroit no good that time either. And on an open look like that, he’s very gifted at making the weak coverage pay. Pompki no good on the three. The Pistons trailer. Thompson passes to Harris and slam dunk by Harris. Good job of stepping up to the plate there, seizing back the momentum for his team. Yeah, plenty of lead changes in this game. It’s gone back and forth. And we’ve got a timeout called by Steve Ker and coach has decided they need a moment to talk things over. Here Lever’s check in for Asar Thompson. The Warriors have gone four for nine from the field to start this game off. Pass to Pajki. Knocks it loose and stolen by Harris. Levert up top. Cunningham looking it over. Back to Levert. Just five on the clock. Durham with a screen on heel. There’s Levert. The top of the key jumper is on the mark. And how about the playmaking skills of Levert? I like watching this guy break down the D in the pick and roll. Now, let’s send it over to David Aldridge who was able to talk with JB Bickerst. We talked about a lot of things including how to try and slow down Steph Curry. He said it’s the usual stuff. You can’t go under screens. You have to contest without fouling. You have to recognize he will put the ball on the floor and drive if you overplay him. That’s a lot to account for, guys. Thanks, David. And many around the league believe Curry doesn’t get enough fouls called in his favor. Uh G, what do you think? There could be some truth to that. He gets held and grabbed more than anyone when running off screens, but especially blatant on drives to the rim. Takes it off the glass. Curry’s got seven. Stronger than he looks. Curry able to take the hit there and finish. Cunningham against Curry. Cunningham outside in that one. Good. He’s got seven. Just showing some grown man strength there. Cunningham gifted at working through the contact pass to PMski. Now heel levert defending and it’s good off the back of the rim and in. And the Warriors lead by one guys. Seven times the lead has changed hands here now. Yeah, and that number should easily top double figures before it’s over. Now here’s Durham and here is Harris from outside the ark. Kajenski grabs the board. Uses the glass to finish the layup. Not many guys with Butler’s build have his skill set inside. Pass to Duran. Here’s Levert. Back to Harris. Ivy with it. He’s defended by Penski. Curves the screen for Ivy. Kept alive. Cunningham outside. Hits it from three-point range. Cunningham’s got it all tied up now for the Pistons. And you can play Cunningham on the ball, off the ball. He’s really a generational talent partly because of his versatility. Here’s PMski. Ivy defending. Here’s Heel. It’s hauled in by Harris. And so it’s Harris who will bring it up for Detroit. Cunningham with it. Out guarded by He Cunningham’s shot is off. Not really what we expected. You know, he wants that one back. It’s stolen by Cunningham. Harris outside. Pistons passing it around. Here’s the three and a double three for Detroit and breaking down some numbers here. The hustle stats for the Pistons. Well, so far they’ve done a great job of reading the offense and repeatedly putting themselves in the right place to interrupt the play and force turnover. And so far just a great job forcing turnovers and creating opportunities in the open floor. The defense at the heart of that pass to LeVert to Cunningham and they call the foul. So a chance at the line for one more coming up. just a special offensive talent. We don’t see guys like Cunningham come through the Lehe that often. The Pistons shooting their first free throw of the game. Yeah, and 79% from the line as a team a season ago. Pretty reliable in that regard. Looking at who’s out there now for the Pistons, Stewart checked in for Duran and it’s Assar Thompson in for Jaden Ivy. That’s good from Cunningham. It didn’t take long for Kate Cunningham to establish himself as the leader of this team. Well, Kevin, he’s very mature for his age. He was put in a position with all young guys around him, so he had to step up. And I’ve never heard Kate Cunningham blame anyone else for the team struggles. He’s got everything you could want in a team leader. Harris outside throw line jump shot. Cunningham’s shot is off. Golden State’s gone three or four on three-pointers in the first quarter. Doing well from long range. The Pistons leading. Here’s Thompson backed in off the glass. Got to do more than this to stop Thompson. He’s used to having to fight through contact. Richard covered by Cunningham. Here’s Post. Nothing on the board. And the layup is good. And this kind of shot defines who Butler is. Just a bulldog who embraces finishing against the tight coverage. Cunningham outside and he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. This is his second trip to the line in this one. Shoot two and he knocks down the first point. And it’s easy to see why so many are so high on Cunningham. A talented guard who can do a little bit of everything. Robinson’s checked in for the Pistons. Enzo Cunningham nails both of them. We expect nothing less. He’s generally been very good at the line. Cunningham against Curry. Santos. the pass to Moody to the inside and Thompson sends it back. He has the potential to be an elite NBA defender for a long time. Thompson can guard anybody. And the replay demonstrating once again how aggressive that defense was. And in a close game, blocks like that are so clutch. And that could be a real difference maker here tonight. 30 seconds left to play here in the first. Santos the pass to Moody. Four on the shot clock. Here’s Curry with the threes. Rebounded by the Pistons and not allowing even an inch of breathing room on that one. There’s no air space there whatsoever. That’s as close as you can get without a hand on it and that’s out of bounds. Will retain possession. Here’s Stewart. Still yet to score. Three-pointer Levert. No good on that one. And still a close game as the first quarter comes to a close. Pistons lead by three. And don’t go away, we’ll be back with the action for the start of the second quarter in just a moment. And close game underway so far. We’ll see if either of these teams can jump out in the second quarter. Guys, what do you think so far from what we’ve seen from the Pistons throughout that first? They just were aggressive on the defensive end, showing active hands. Yeah, this defensive game plan is working very well, putting constant pressure on the offense and forcing a lot of mistakes. So, on the floor for Golden State to begin this second quarter, they’ve got Curry, also Moses Moody out there, and it’s post in at the center position. Pistons leading by three. Here’s Levert. Right wing. Pulls it up and his first shot of the game. No good. And it’s Curry with the ball bringing it up for the Golden State Warriors. Curry through traffic. Count it. Oh, great work inside by Curry there. So clever and composed in the paint. Levert against Curry. Stewart kicks to Thompson. A three-pointer no good. And even without that three ball dropping for him, the defense should have done more on that last play. Pass to Moody outside. Curry a three. Wow. Curry automatic from deep on the offensive end. Curry both prolific and efficient. Thompson with it. Pistons passing it around. Launches it and again it’s the Pistons missing. Golden State’s gone four and six from outside the arc tonight. Here’s Curry with the three. Rebounded by the Pistons. losing streak that they have. It’s pretty clear that this could be a long road back to redemption. Kevin, yeah, could is the operative word. This could be indeed. David, thank you. A shot by Curry. No good. Well, I’m surprised that didn’t fall for him. We know that’s a shot he can hit. And there wasn’t much resistance either. For a center, he’s maybe undized, but his ability to get in the air to make a play balances that out. Over to the left wing. Pass to Jackson Davis. Here’s Post. Guarded by Stewart. Six to shoot. And Curry has it in the corner. Another miss by Curry. The Vistons have gone two of five from the field here in the second quarter, shooting 40%. Gets it to goal from beyond the Here we are, Stan seeing more and more great international players in the NBA and you’ve had a chance to coach some of the good ones as well. Well, yeah. Look, you’re right about the league now. We see every year it seems like the MVP is an international player. I had Turko who was a big part of what we did in Orlando. Was a most improved player in the league one year and a key part of our team that made it to the finals. 610 highly skilled, very versatile guy. There are great players coming from everywhere in the world. So, it’s the Warriors now. Eight-point game. And so, Steve Kerr calls for the timeout. Wants to talk some things over. might be seeing some things to adjust. Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. And the Pistons making a change here. Sasser’s checked in. And the Warriors making a change here. And the Warriors with possession here, trailing here by eight. Fajki’s shot is good. him with those points. He puts an end to that 100 run by the Pistons. Outside Robinson pass to Levert. Stewart trying to get over and it’s Levert missing. Warriors trail outside Curry. Back to Pajki. It’s held in by Stewart. Well, if you give him that shot again, I’m willing to bet he nails it, especially with that lack of defensive effort. There’s the screen. Here’s Levert. Levert. He hangs in there and cashes in on the second chance points. Levert’s got the lead up to eight now for the Pistons. And folks, he did not luck into that one. He knew just where he wanted to be to grab that back. Curry looking it over. Back to Green. Six on the shot clock. Fires the three. Hands it from downtown. And it’s crucial that Green hits from the outside because it makes everything easier for his teammates. Pass to Robinson. Puts the move on and he sinks the layup. Robinson’s got five. Really well done there. Just confident and composed. Never in a hurry. It’s stolen. And now the Pistons fast break. And here’s Levert. Now Stewart over in the corner. Sasser. Stewart with a screen on Kirk. Back to Stewart. Plenty of space. Shot clock at three. He lays it in. And the Pistons lead by nine. Well, his rebounding is such a boost for this team, especially when it comes on the offensive end. Takes it from 10. Curry gets it to go inside. And here are the Pistons now. They’re on a 16-7 run. And JB Vickers is called a timeout. Wants to regroup and go over the strategy. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Jimmy Butler. He’s checked in for the Warriors. He comes in for Moses Moody. here is Cunningham. 15 points in the game. Pass to Duran. Now here’s Ivy. He’s defended by Penski. The shot by Ivy. No good. Warriors trail by seven. When it comes to players who like having fun, Greg, Jimmy Butler has to be way up there. If you see his media picture for the 23 24 season, he looked like he belonged in an emo band with that hairstyle. Jimmy is definitely one of those guys that likes to troll and have fun. And looking at that replay again, just a big time block right there. And this is how you protect and grow a lead by making a huge effort on that end of the floor. Healed against Robinson. Just five to shoot. Goes up with the strike. Yep. It goes. And the Piston lead is cut down now to just five on the bucket from Heel. And I like seeing Heel take advantage of that mid-range area, appearing confident in taking this shot. During finds Ivy now here is Harris. Ivy passes to Harris down low. Here’s Cunningham. Basket is good. The assist from Harris. Now that’s 17 points for Kate Cunningham. And it’s Curry with the ball bringing it up for the Warriors. Outside Green. Here’s PMski. Ivy defending. Healed from outside to Schwit with the rebound. Turing’s got four rebounds now tonight. Harris dishes to Ivy. Pass to Duran. Here is Cunningham. shoots over Curry, launches a three. Ivy with the bucket and now a 10-point Piston lead. Oh, how about the quick thinking by Ivy. I love when he goes right at it with the shot. The Warriors have gone. Six of 14 shooting here in the second. Back to Bajki inside. Here’s Curry. They get it back. It’s deflected. Cunningham outside down low outside for Robinson. Another three for Detroit. And credit Harris for creating that high percentage look, scanning the floor and finding the best option. outside curry. Green against Harris. Green left side and again unable to change momentum here. Pistons leading by 13. Cunningham outside. Now here’s Durham. No scoring in this one. And he gets the whistle for the 3second call. And now let’s take a look again at that incredible rejection. Quick thinking pays off big. What a block. Assar Thompson. He’s checked in for the Pistons. The Warriors also with a sub. Moody’s checked in for Curry. Warriors trail by 13 now. Green pass to Moody. Lock at six. Shooting foul. As the whistle blows, he’ll shoot two free throws. It’s on Assar Thompson. Butler is just hard to guard inside. Really good at using his body to create contact against the defense at the basket. The first free throw is good. Greg, what a great time to be a fan of basketball, not just in the NBA, but all over the world. Absolutely, Kevin. The sport just continues to grow and there’s increased value being placed on allaround skill even in youth basketball and I think that bodess well for the future of the game and that one goes in two from the line that time. A highly talented two-way player. Butler is also known for his toughest approach to the game. Thompson kicks to Ivy. Pass to Harris. Thompson outside shoots again. The Pistons good for two. Well, look, if he misses that shot, coach might think of benching it. He’s pretty fortunate he got that one to go. He’s fouled pretty hard on that shot, but he’s got the chance to pick up the points at the line. And what I appreciate about Butler is how tough he is. This guy welcomes going into contact while shooting. On the night, he’s gone two for two at the stripe. The first one falls. and that’s good as he hits both of his shots. Pistons leading by 11. Cunningham outside. 125 left in the second quarter. Can’t hit the step back jump shot. Golden State’s gone two for five from three-point land since the end of the first. Pass to Green. Oh, no stopping by that time. This is what separates Green from most bigs. a point guard who excels at passing. Here’s Cunningham and he drives in. Basket is good. The assist from Harris. Harris has got three assists now in this one. Warriors trail by 11. Pass to Green and Yep. That’s going to be a flagrant foul. Unnecessary contact. Boy, a very hard foul that time and the officials had to slap him with the flagrant. I mean, you can’t let him get away with that kind of contact. Yeah, G, that’s an easy call for the officials to make when there’s that much contact. The league is really cracking down on those sort of plays and the first one drops. What I appreciate most about Green is his leadership. Strong vocally on and off the floor. That one falls. So he hits both of them. There’s 45 seconds left to play here in the half. Pass to Pajki to the paint. He can’t hit. It’s Cha with the ball. He’ll bring it up for the Detroit Pistons. 13 points was their biggest lead in the game. Ivy passes to Harris. And here’s Cunningham. Shoots the three. Draymond Green pulls it. Here’s PMski. Covered by Cunningham. Pajky’s shot is good. Pajk’s got eight points. Man, he’s got such a great touch and feel around the basket. He made that reverse look easy. And so, it’s the Detroit Pistons heading to the bench with a seven-point lead as we wrap up the quarter. They’re feeling very confident, shooting the ball with great efficiency and dictating the pace. And now, let’s catch up with David Aldridge who’s standing by from the sideline. All right, Dave. Hey, Kevin. Thanks. Hey, Draymond. at times in that first half they got it going in transition. Why were they able to beat you defensively? Uh I don’t think it was so much defensively if it was offensively. You know, we turned the ball over and you can’t defend that. You know, when they get out running, their guards are going to get loose. So, we just got to stop turning the ball over offensively and that’ll help our defensive turn. Yeah, your coach calls them plays of insanity, Draymond. So, we’ll see if you can adjust that in the second half. Thank you. Back to you, Kevin. Thanks, David. And we’ll be back shortly following halftime to get the third quarter underway. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. And we’ve hope you’ve enjoyed the broadcast so far. We’re halfway through the game. You look at Kate Cunningham in this game. He’s been everywhere. Well, he he left his mark on that first half with his quick hands. Great sense of timing to pile up the steals. And because of that, I expect to see a huge emphasis on ball control moving forward. Thompson and Harris are their forwards. The backcourt pair will be Cunningham and Ivy. And it’s Duran in at the five. And that’s the group for JB Vicker staff. As we begin the second half, we see coaches stand willing to pay fines for complaining about the officiated. I’m having a hard time thinking if you ever did that. I’m going back going back in my rolodex here. Did you Did you ever do that, coach? I mean, Kevin, I paid hundreds of thousands of dollars of fines in the NBA. Yeah. My wife was not real happy about that at one point reminding me early on that we had four kids we were going to try to put through college and she told me one year I just gave away two college educations. Oh goodness. Curry with it. Pass to Penski. Green dishes to Curry. Golden State moving it around. Here’s Poachki and it’s off from three-point range. Pistons leading by five. Harris outside releases. The Warriors pull it in. Pass to Pajki. The rebound by Ivy. Detroit’s gone seven to 15 from three-point range tonight. They’re not afraid of that shot. Thompson passes to Cunningham. There’s the three. Thompson misses. And the great shooters know when they’ve got enough opening to go for the three. I didn’t think it was a bad choice on that possession. And one thing about Draymond, he almost invites contact. Pistons shooting at 50% in a decent group. Cunningham kicks to Ivy. Pass to Harris. Cunningham with it. Run past the arc. Detroit no good that time either. Harris against Curry. The offbalance finish. Curry. There isn’t a shot Steph Curry doesn’t have a feel for. Floaters, runners, whatever. The tougher the better. Curry against Cunningham. Shoots over Curry. Again, the miss by the Pistons. Golden State’s gone to the three-pointer 11 times tonight. Nailed five of them. And now the latest from our reporter David Alderson. Kevin, thank you. Tobias Harris over the course of his career has played a lot at both forward positions. He says, “I’m comfortable playing both of them. I’m not big on the position thing. I’m versatile. Kevin, he’s just a basketball player and a very, very good one. I would agree, Dave. I know you like him. We like him as well. A very skilled one at that. Thank you very much. Detroit’s gone 02 from deep to start things here in the second half. Here’s Ivy. And two free throws coming up. Unable to get that one to go with all the content. And it goes on Draymond Green as the son of two professional athletes stand. Jaden Ivy was raised around sports. He knows the culture. Yeah, that’s an understatement, Kevin. His grandfather and father both played professional football. His mom played in the WNBA. She’s now a college coach, but she also spent some time as an assistant with the Grizzlies. This guy has had sports from the time he was born. And you have to appreciate the allout effort Jay Na’vi gives you on the court. He he works so hard to find ways to get involved and prove he belongs here. No good at the strike this time. In second misses also. The first thing people mention about Ivy is that explosiveness. The the first step allows him to get downhill and really makes him effective in those ISO situations. And there’s Butler with the flush. As we approach the fourth quarter, still anyone’s ball game. Yeah, neither team able to create much of a cushion. And JB Bickerstaff is called a timeout. He wants to talk to his guys. One guy who’s been getting it done so far, Stephen Curry. Well, as a coach, you have to make adjustments to put a stop to all the damage he’s doing. The way they’ve defended him is not cutting it. Heat. Heat. Three minutes gone now in the third quarter. Cunningham against Curry. Stewart. A screen for Cunningham. their offense. Stone cool. Another miss to Greenside. Curry takes the three. Good on the triple. Curry’s got the lead up to four now for the Warriors. It doesn’t matter if it’s off the bounce or off the catch. Curry never loses rhythm on his jump shot. The screen from Thompson. Now here’s Ivy. He’s defended by PMski. Rock is a three. The Trey Detroit no good that time either to the inside. Green. And Green slams it in. Oh, how about the execution inside by Green. He’s excellent at knowing when to attack down low. And JB Bickerstaff is called a timeout. He wants a minute here to get things straightened out with his team. Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Pistons trail by six. Here’s Cunningham. That’s in coming off the assist from Thompson. Thompson’s got five assists tonight. And with that basket, he puts a stop to the 13 nothing run there by Golden State. And a T3 from Curry. They get the rebound. Three cross contact on the shot. And now a three-point play chance as he’ll head to the line. Tremendous rebound. I mean, at the draft combine, Ring measured under 66 without shoes, but that 71 wingspan is what one team’s over. Find the length. Find the length. One shot. And that one misses. Detroit’s gotten off to a very slow start from three-point range in the second half. They’re 0 for four. Oh, Kevin, get a load of that one. Take that play and put it in the alleyoop textbook, boys. Oh, perfectly done. You’re right. He put it on a platter for him. It’s held in by Stewart. Stewart’s got four rebounds now tonight. To the middle. Here’s Harris. And slam dunk by Harris. How about that finish by Harris. He sees his opening and does not hesitate to rise up and be free. Heel bounce pass Cunningham against Curry. Five to shoot and the three off target and so is Harris who will bring it up for Detroit. Cunningham a screen on Green. Harris inside guarded by Green Cunningham against Curry and that one clearly a foul. Gets the whistle and two shots coming up. Couple tough stuff from Cunningham inside enduring the foul and able to get that one off. And a look at how the offensive approach has been going here so far for the Warriors. Well, the mid-range has been open for them. So, you’ve got to take what the defense gives. And that’s been a great attack in this situation. And they’ve also played exceptionally well in the paint tonight, taking advantage of their opportunity to work inside. Moses Moody, he’s checked in for the Warriors. That one drops. He ties it up. Golden State’s gone one of four and three-point shots here in the third. Pass to Pajki outside. Curry fires the three. Butler loves the three-point look and continuing to add to his offense over time. Butler excels at breaking down the defense. Thompson outside. It’s tipped. Cunningham outside. Shot from 16 and off the perimeter and in it goes. Cunningham’s got six here in this quarter. effective from the mid-range. For Cunningham, it’s about shooting with confidence. Vajki on the wing. Pass to Moody. For the three. It’s held in by Stewart. The Pistons trailing. Harris finds coming in. Comes up empty down low. Excellent coverage defensively making it hard on him. Here’s Curry. Pass to Moody outside. Curry down to five on the shot clock. Tries again. It’s good. Curry’s got 21. Detroit has gotten off to a very slow start from three-point range in the second half. They’re 0 for four. And JB Bickerstaff is called a timeout. He wants to make some adjustments to the game plan clearly. Heat. Heat. Everyone Good. Heat. So, it’s Detroit now. Stewart and that one drops. Stewart’s got nine. And guys, the D has to show a little more fight on the interior than they did on that trip. Back to PMski puts up a three and it’s Stephen Curry with a three. Curry’s got a pair of threes now here in the third for the Warriors. Curry against Levert. Harris outside unloads from 13. doesn’t go that time. I think he got the shot he wanted inside, but somewhere on the play he just lost focus. Butler with the bucket down low. And he’s really made the most of his opportunities today. I mean, he needs to keep working for those kinds of looks. outside Robinson. 17 ft shot on the way. Count it. And the Warrior lead has been cut down now to just four in the basket from Harris. And here’s Green. He’ll bring it up for the Warriors. Some nice passing by Golden State. Green the screen. Six on the shot clock. off target with the open look. Detroit’s getting off to a very slow start from three-point range in the second half. They’re 0 for four and good work on the boards to pick up the second chance points. Relentless effort creates the second chance opportunity. Pass to Penski. Now here’s Moody. Curry on the wing. Stolen by Levert. Now Detroit moving it up. makes the most of his running arms deficiency. You just have to be careful when dribbling him around the court. Warriors shooting it quite well on this third quarter. 53% and the offense is rolling. Here’s PMski guarded by Robinson. And here is Curry for him. He gets it in there. Curry’s got 26. Yeah, well done to finish that one off, Frank. Their unselfish play has really been impressive. They’re trusting one another out there, wanting to get each other involved. This is great basketball to the inside. Here’s Harris. Pass to Stewart and no good. Had a chance to take the lead there. finding him space on the perimeter, but he couldn’t capitalize. Green kicks to Curry. Often we talk about depth, but how important is it for these two guys and contacts? They set the shooting free throws here. A good job to take it right at so far. He’s hit all of his shots at the foul line going four for four. And last season, 86% from the line. So he’s always had that calm presence at the line no matter he’s out there. That’s their third three-pointer since halftime. First free throw is good. And it’s been an outstanding game for them at the free throw line. Not missing their chances when they get them. Marcus answers checked in for Tobias Harris. He’s perfect from the line this time. There’s 117 left to play in the third. Here’s Sasser. They get a hand on it. And it’s the Warriors on the break. What a move at the rim. Butler. I tell you what, Butler is a physical dunker. I mean, he takes his craft seriously. I just love watching this guy take off. Pistons trail by six. 50 seconds left in the third. Outside Robinson back to Sasser. Stewart a screen. Four on the clock. Sasser gets the bucket. Sass’s got five. That’s inexcusable defense right there. You got to contest the shot better than that. All sorts of time and off the left side of the rim and it swirls in for 26 points for Jimmy Butler. Detroit’s gotten one of six three-pointers to drop since coming out of the locker room at halftime. Levert up top. And the last shot at the buzzer doesn’t go in for him. It’s been all about Stephen Curry for the Warriors. He ends up propping in two from distance, making a difference from long range in this one. Right back after this break. While we have the chance now, folks, let’s go to our State Farm assist of the game. Just true artistry right there. I mean, great decision on where to go with the ball. And how about the perfect delivery? Well, that was an absolute masterpiece of an assist. He knew exactly when to deliver the ball and it made for a beautiful score and it’s been a very competitive game so far as we get rolling here in quarter number four on the court for Golden State here in the fourth. We got Trace Jackson Davis. Moses Moody is out there with Stephen Curry and it’s post 80% rocking down the middle and just so good at reading angles. When Levert spots a lane to the rim, he is all over. Moody the pass to Kurt off target from three-point range. And so Levert will clean it up for the Pistons. Sasser finds Levert. And a piece of it. Warriors leading by three to the paint. Here’s Pope. Basket is good. He’ll get a chance for one more at the line. How about battling through the impact there and then willing that basketball in the lane. Behind the lane. One shot. Pistons trail by six. And we’ve played through about a minute here in the fourth. There’s the pick. Here’s Levert. It’s blocked. Now here’s Curry. Pass to Moody. Now Jackson Davis outside Curry and good as it just snugs right down through the net. Now that’s a high percentage look when the D doesn’t fight over the screen. Yeah, it’s certainly worth it to disrupt the offense. Coaches notice that extract. And there’s the foul. It’ll go on Moses Moody. That is his first foul of the game. You got to love strong defense, especially when it comes in the form of harsh rejections. Wow. And a block like that sends a message. One that says, “We’re not giving up this lead. and we’ve made our way through just over a minute and a half in this fourth quarter. Five on the clock. Here’s Levert and he could not get that one to go. Lot of contact and he’ll go to the line for two. It goes on Moses Moody. Oh, tricky shot poor Levert. Defense is all over him, but he draws a foul on that attempt. And he makes the first. And the Pistons making a change here. Smith has checked in. that misses. So he splits the free throws. Warriors leading by seven inside. And those slam by Moody. Reversed it home. That was pretty. Agreed. The agility on display. All Reeds jacked in for the Pistons. One shot and the free throw no good. The Vistons have gone one of three from the field to start the fourth quarter. Here’s Stewart. That’s good. That’s Levert with the assist. A solid passer at his position. Levert excels at finding his teammates when they’re open. It’s Curry outside. Gets the three-pointer to fall. Curry’s got 17 points here in the second half. Curry is just lethal from outside. Here’s Reed. Now Robinson. Back to Reed. The Pistons working the ball around now. Reed a screen on Croo. Sassy. tried to come right back with a three of his own, but it’s no good. Warriors leading by 10. Outside Curry pass to post and wrestling forth there, but no one has possession. We’ll have a jump ball. Shot clock at six. On its way from Curry for two. Robinson pulls it in for Detroit. They’ve gone two for five on field goal attempts in the fourth quarter. Shoots over Curry. Robinson misses. Golden State’s gone one and two from three-point range here in the fourth. Here’s Santos. That shot off the mark. Pistons trail by 10. It’s Robinson high post to the middle and the dunk by Robinson. And how about the recognition there from Lever. Coaching staff will appreciate that kind of ball movement. And here’s Curry who brings it up for the Warriors. They’ve allowed just seven points here in the fourth quarter from deep and they’ll get another chance. Three-pointer drills the three-pointer. Curry’s got the lead up to 11 now for the Warriors. And he is cold bloodooded. drops the dagger, piles on to what was already a big lead. And defensively, that kind of effort is just not going to cut it. Sasser finds Levert. Stewart a screen for Levert to the inside. And Stewart gets it to go. Sharp pass to set up that high percentage shot in close. Outside Curry. There’s a good screen. High arcing shot. Rebound by the Pistons. Sasser with it. Pass to Stewart. Robinson with it again. The Pistons good for two. Warriors leading by seven. And here is Moody to the paint trying to find Curry. He’s got it now. Can’t hit from in close. The Pistons have gone five for nine from the field in the final quarter so far. pass to Zer. The three-pointer is right on target and now it’s just a four-point Warrior lead. Confident and composed on the three-point shot at a critical juncture. Here’s Curry. Great pass to set up the layin. 36 points for Stephen Curry. Yeah, nothing too fancy. Just getting the job done when they need to make every possession count. Pass to Robinson. shoots. They grabbed their own miss out left of the wing. Now here’s Levert guarded closer and the chunk by Reed. An allaround threat. Lever is skilled at sizing up defenses and exploiting them in that pick and roll. And we’ve got a timeout called by Steve Ker. He knows every possession is critical now. Where’s it? The pick for Simon always making turnovers. And a different look here for the Pistons. Tobias Harris has checked in for Paul Reed. Assar Thompson comes in for Robinson. Jaden Ivy, he’s checked in for Caris Levert. And Kate Cunningham subbed in for Marcus Sasser. And with an update from the sidelines, let’s check in with David Aldridge. Hey guys, I was able to catch the message Steve Kerr gave to his team. Now, he reminded his team, keep looking for the deep ball. If the three is there, take it. You’ve done a good job getting those looks, so keep taking them. Back to you guys. Thank you, David. Pass to heel. Now, Pajinski, the body control from Butler. Wow. And that’s what he does for Simon is a Harris outside. Cunningham and the dunk by Tatum and then Cunningham slams it in. And you can see why they continue to call Cunningham number once he flipped that switch. Let him go to work. Curry pass it to Heel. Green with a screen on top. Three-pointer heel trains the three-pointer. Well, it’s a three-point shooting league. Guys like him are so important for Spacy. Pass to Cunningham and that one drops for him. And that’s now 29 points for Gabe Cunningham. And that’s right in his wheelhouse looking to make an impact when it counts. Well, you know, this is when they lean on him and he delivers with a much needed score. Burries the long range jumper. Heavy incoming from beyond the arc. A key part of their initiative this entire fourth quarter. Yeah, it’s always a little risky to lean this hard on the three-point shot. But when you’re knocking him down, you might as well keep riding it. Harris good. And the assist goes to Cunningham. And it does a world of good for them to have Harris getting busy inside. Gives them that inside out edge they’re looking for. Green with a screen on Cunningham. Curry can’t get it to go. Pistons trail by six. Cunningham kicks to Thompson. to the right wing. Cunningham for three and the rebound goes to the Warriors and it’s clinging in at the five rolling the paint. If you look at career off target from outside Detroit’s got just one of four three-pointers to go down for them here on the floor and Harris gets it to go on the assist by Thompson. And now just a four-point Warrior lead. And it’s Curry with the ball bringing it up for Golden State. Healed outside. Green with a screen on Harris. Wow. Ball from way outside. Their ability again to stretch the floor particularly in this second half. Yeah. And where has the defense been? They’ve been to let them fire away. They’ve got to go out to the arson. The kick out to Bellingham. The rebound by He Warriors leading by seven. Down low. And he finishes nicely on the way. He’s got 36. Well, this is what you’re trying to do. Put the game away. Yeah, but you can’t let up now. We’ve seen too many wild comebacks and this is Cunningham and right to it goes and I like how composed Cunningham is. Lets the game and his shots come to him. Curry against Cunningham. Curry is inside the layup off top and that one goes out of bounds. Last touch by Cunningham. Well, that’s an unforced error. If you want to drive your coach crazy, that’s the way to do it. 111 left in the fourth quarter. G right on a nice open look right there. Curry’s got 38 points. Just shows you how impressive Curry’s shooting ability is that he can adjust for any distance. That one goes in. I tell you what, what a good thing that he showed up today because without him, this thing would already be over. Here’s Golden State now. They lead by seven. Here’s PMski. Ivy defending. Nothing down. Six to shoot. And a lot of contact on that one. So he’ll shoot two here. Clever move by Curry taking the foul but still getting the shot on. Shooting two. He drops the first one. That stretches their lead to eight. What you appreciate most about Curry is his confidence, especially when it comes to how far he can connect from. And so he drops them both. It’s a nine-point ball game. No doubt that just about now a timeout called by Detroit. There’s 39 seconds left to play in the final quarter. What do you think we’re going to see coming out of this timeout? And you know what? They’re not ready to give up yet. They’ll try to intentionally foul if they can get a quick hoop. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. puts it up off the inbound and Detroit again with the bucket. 36 seconds left here in the fourth quarter. Outside Curry. And that’ll be two free throws coming up. Officials on the call with the foul. And how about mixing it up inside there. Steph still a threat. That nimleness he has helps him to get that shot off. Shooting two. First free throw is good and that stretches their lead to eight. and he hits both free throws here. So now it’s a nine-point ball game here and Detroit has possession. It’s just too big a deficit to come back from at this point. Well, you want your players to keep playing hard, but let’s be honest, this game’s over. 6sec difference between shot and game play. Thompson misses. So, we see the Warriors get the win here. They came in here and took care of business like they were the home team. And Kevin, how about the mental toughness that this group showed? They they were never rattled at all by the opposing fans. And a chance now to send it over to David Aldridge standing by courtside. David, thanks very much. Draymond, one of the cliches of basketball is that the ball finds energy. When teammates are making shots, does that give you more energy? Uh, yeah, it does. You know, when we’re in the flow, the ball’s just moving around. It allows me to play make and, you know, then I just try to find an open gap and take the shots where they are. Man, it was really flowing tonight, man. Congrats on the win. Back to you. Much appreciated, David. And that’ll do it, folks. So for Stan Van Gundy, Greg Anthony, and David Aldridge, I’m Kevin Harland. Thanks for watching the NBA on 2K Sports. And now we present the player of the game, Jimmy Butler. Yeah, each of these teams are anchored by their big men. I think it’s going to be physical and highly intensified. The jumpsky with it. Harris is there. It’s stolen by Cunningham. Goes up and Cunningham with the slam. Excellent on both ends of that play. Yeah, the steel was sharp, but the slam topped it off. And that is why you want to run off turnovers. Hit down the floor before the defense is set. And you’ve got to be up on heels, especially when he’s beyond the arc. If not, he’ll burn you. Harris looking it over to the paint. They kick out to Cunningham and they come right back with their own three-point. Cunningham’s got five points so far. And here’s Curry who brings it up for Golden State trailing by two. Pass to Heel. Vajenski on the wing. Got that bucket. Well, you love the unselfishness. Makes the next pass and enables his team to capitalize on the possession. And you look at the Detroit Pistons, Stan. So much young talent, but the chemistry is a work in progress clearly. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. So it’s the Warriors now trailing by two outside Curry. It’s stolen by Cunningham. Shot on the way and there’s Thompson. That’s good on the assist by Cunningham. Oh, defending Cunningham. Boy, a challenge. You have to pay extra attention. That’s when you leave someone open. Pajki finds Curry, takes a three, drills it from outside. And they don’t want to get in a habit of giving him open looks from three. First quarter still, but not who you want to leave open. First quarter play and just over three and a half minutes in. It’s picked off. Pass to Pajinski. Outside Green. Pass to Pajinski. And here is Heel. He’s covered by Thompson. Goes up from the top of the key. Shot is good. off the back rim and in. He’s got five points so far. The Pistons trail. Thompson passes to Harris and slam dunk by Harris. Good job of stepping up to the plate there, seizing back the momentum for his team. Yeah, plenty of lead changes in this game. It’s gone back and forth and we’ve got a timeout called by Steve Curts and coach has decided they need a moment to talk things over. Carris Lever checked in for Assar Thompson. The Warriors have gone four for nine from the field to start this game off. Pass to Pajki. Knocks it loose and stolen by Harris. Levert up top. Cunningham looking it over. Back to Levert. Just five on the clock. Durham with a screen on heel. There’s Levert. The top of the key. Jumper is on the mark. And how about the playmaking skills of Levert? I like watching this guy break down the D in the pick and roll. Now, let’s send it over to David Aldridge who was able to talk with JB Bicker Stamp. We talked about a lot of things including how to try and slow down Steph Curry. He said it’s the usual stuff. You can’t go on your screens. You have to contest without fouling. You have to recognize he will put the ball on the floor and drive if you overplay him. That’s a lot to account for, guys. Thanks, David. And many around the league believe Curry doesn’t get enough fouls called in his favor. Uh GA, what do you think? There can be some truth to that. Cunningham gifted at working through the contact. Pass to Penski. Now heel avert defending and it’s good off the back of the rim and in. And the Warriors lead by one. Guys, seven times the lead has changed hands here now. Yeah, that number should easily top double figures before it’s over. Now here’s Durham and here is Harris from outside the arc. Pajenski grabs the board. Uses the glass to finish the layup. Not many guys with Butler’s build have his skill set inside. Pass to Duran. Here’s Levert. Back to Harris. Ivy with it. He’s defended by Penski. Curran sets the screen for Ivy. Kept alive. Cunningham outside. Hits it from three-point range. Cunningham’s got it all tied up now for the Pistons. And you can play Cunningham on the ball, off the ball. He’s really a generational talent partly because of his versatility. Here’s PMski. Ivy defending. Here’s Heield. It’s hauled in by Harris. And so it’s Harris who will bring it up for Detroit. Cunningham with it. Out guarded by Heield. Cunningham’s shot is off. Not really what we expected. You know, he wants that one back. It’s stolen by Cunningham. Harris outside. Pistons passing it around. Here’s the three and another three for Detroit and breaking down some numbers here. The hustle stats for the Pistons. Well, so far they’ve done a great job of leading the offense and repeatedly putting themselves in the right place to interrupt the play and force turnover. And so far just a great job forcing turnovers and creating opportunities in the open floor. The defense at the heart of that. Pass to Levert. Back to Cunningham. And they call the foul. So a chance at the line for one more coming up. Just a special offensive talent. Lee, I don’t see guys like Cunningham come through the league that often. The Pistons shooting their first free throw of the game. Yeah, and 79% from the line as a team a season ago. Pretty reliable in that regard. Looking at who’s out there now for the Pistons. Stewart checked in for Duran and it’s Assar Thompson in for Jaden Ivy. That’s good from Cunningham. It didn’t take long for K. Cunningham to establish himself as the leader of this team. Well, Kevin, he’s very mature for his age. He was put in a position with all young guys around him. So, he had to step up. And I’ve never heard Kate Cunningham blame anyone else for the team struggles. He’s got everything you could want in a team leader. Harris outside free throw line jump shot. Cunningham’s shot is off. Golden State’s gone three or four on three-pointers in the first quarter. Doing well from long range. The Pistons leading. Here’s Thompson back in off the glass. Got to do more than this to stop Thompson. He’s used to having to fight through contact. Richard covered by Cunningham. Here’s post. Nothing on the board. And the layup is good. And this kind of shot defines who Butler is. Just a bulldog who embraces finishing against the tight cover. Danzo Cunningham nails both of them. Rebounded by the Pistons and not allowing the shooter even an inch of breathing on that one. There’s no air space there whatsoever. That’s as close as you can get without a hand on it and that’s out of bounds. Detroit will retain possession. Here’s Stewart still yet to score. Three-pointer. No good on that one. And still a close game as the first quarter comes to a close. Pistons lead by three. And don’t go away. We’ll be back with the action for the start of the second quarter in just a moment. So, on the floor for Golden State to begin this second quarter, they’ve got Curry also Moses Moody out there and it’s post in at the center position. A three-pointer. No good. And the short break in the action gives us a chance now to send it over to David. Kevin, thanks. Obviously, the Pistons in the midst of a long reboot. Two seasons in a row at the bottom of the league standings. Last season, they had the worst record in this once proud franchise’s history. That counts the record setting 28game losing streak that they had. It’s pretty clear that this could be a long road back to redemption. Kevin. Yeah, could is the operative word. Gets it to goal from beyond the ark. Here we are, Stan. seen more and more great international players in the NBA and you’ve had a chance to coach some of the good ones as well. Well, yeah. Look, you’re right about the league. Now, we see every year it seems like the MVP is an international player. I had Turk who was a big part of what we did in Orlando was a most improved player in the league one year and a key part of our team that made it to the finals. 610 highly skilled, very versatile guy. There are great players coming from everywhere in the world. So, it’s the Warriors now. Eight-point game. And so, Steve Cerr calls for the timeout. Wants to talk some things over. Might be seeing some things to adjust. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. And the Pistons making a change here. Sasser’s checked in. And the Warriors making a change here. And the Warriors with possession here, trailing here by eight. But Jimky’s shot is good. And with those points, he puts an end to that 100 run by the Pistons. Outside Robinson pass to Levert. Stewart trying to get over and it’s Levert missing. Warriors trail by six outside Curry. Back to Pajki. It’s held in by Stewart. Well, if you give him that shot again, I’m willing to bet he nails it. Especially with that lack of defensive out. There’s the screen. Here’s Levert. Levert. He hangs in there and cashes in on the second chance points. Levert’s got the lead up to eight now for the Pistons. And folks, he did not luck into that one. He knew just where he wanted to be to grab that back one. Curry looking it over. Back to Green. Six on the shot clock. fires the three, hands it from downtown. And it’s crucial that Green hits from the outside because it makes everything easier for his teammates. Pass to Robinson. Puts the move on and he sinks the way up. Robinson’s got five. Really well done there. Just confident and composed. Never in a hurry. It’s stolen. And now the Pistons fast break. And here’s Levert. Now Stewart over in the corner. Sasser. Stewart with a screen on Ker. Heat. Heat. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Jimmy Butler. He’s checked in for the Warriors. Heel comes in for Moses Moody. Here is Cunningham. 15 points in the game. Pass to Duran. Now here’s Ivy. He’s defended by Pajki. The shot by Ivy. No good. Warriors trail by seven. When it comes to players who like having fun, Greg, Jimmy Butler has to be way up there. Except you see his media picture for the 23 24 season. He looked like he belonged in an emo band with that hairstyle. And I like seeing Heel take advantage of that mid-range area, appearing confident in taking this. During finds Ivy now here is Harris. Ivy passes to Harris. Down low. Here’s Cunningham. Basket is good. The assist from Harris. Now that’s 17 points for Kade Cunningham. And it’s Curry with the ball bringing it up for the Warriors. Outside Green. Here’s Pensky. Ivy defending. Healed from outside with the rebound. During four rebounds now tonight dishes to Ivy. Pass to Duran. Here is Cunningham. Shoots over Curry. Punches a three. Ivy with the bucket. And now a 10-point Piston lead. Oh, how about the quick thinking by Ivy. I love when he goes right at it with the shot. The Warriors have gone. Six of 14 shooting here in the second. Back to Pajki inside. Here’s Curry. They get it. It’s deflected. Cunningham outside down low. Outside for Robinson. Another three for Detroit. And credit Harris for creating that high percentage look, scanning the floor and finding the best option. Outside curves, Green against Harris. Green left side and again unable to change momentum here. Pistons leading by 13. Cunningham outside. Now here’s Duran. No scoring in this one. And he gets the whistle for the 3second call. And now let’s take a look again at that incredible rejection. Quick thinking pays off big. What a block. Assar Thompson. He’s checked in for the Pistons. The Warriors also with a sub. Moody’s check in for Curry. Warriors trail by 13 now. Green pass to Moody. Lock at six. Shooting foul. As the whistle blows, he’ll shoot two free throws. It’s on to S Thompson. Butler is just hard to guard inside. Really good at using his body to create contact against the defense at the basket. First free throw is good. Greg, what a great time to be a fan of basketball. Not just in the NBA, but all over the world. Absolutely, Kevin. The sport just continues to grow and there’s increased value being placed on allaround skill, even in youth basketball, and I think that bodess well for the future of the game. And that one goes in two from the line that time. A highly talented two-way player, Butler is also known for his tough-nosed approach to the game. And Thompson kicks to Ivy. Pass to Harris. Thompson outside. Shoots again. The Pistons good for two. Well, look, if he misses that shot, coach might think of benching it. He’s pretty fortunate he got that one to go. And he’s fouled pretty hard on that shot, but he’s got the chance to pick up the points at the line. And what I appreciate about Butler is how tough he is. This guy welcomes going into contact while shooting. on the night. He’s gone two for two at the strike. The first one falls. And that’s good as he gets both of his shots. Pistons leading by 11. Cunningham outside. 125 left in the second quarter. Can’t hit the step back jump shot. Golden State’s gone two for five from three-point land since the end of the first. Pass to Green. Oh, no. Stoping Butler that time. This is what separates Green from most bigs. A point thrower who excels at passing. Here’s Cunningham and he drives in. Basket is good. The assist from Harris. Harris has got three assists now in this one. Warriors trail by 11. Pass to Green and Yep. That’s going to be a flagrant foul. Unnecessary contact. Boy, a very hard foul that time. And the officials had to slap him with the flagrant. I mean, you can’t let him get away with that kind of contact. Yeah, G. That’s an easy call for the officials to make when there’s that much contact. The league is really cracking down on those sort of plays. And the first one drops. What I appreciate most about Green is his leadership. Strong vocally on and off the floor. That one falls. So he hits both of them. There’s 45 seconds left to play here in the half. Pass to Pajki to the paint. He can’t hit. It’s with the ball. He’ll bring it up for the Detroit Pistons. 13 points was their biggest lead in the game. Ivy passes to Harris. And here’s Cunningham. Shoots the three. Draymond Green pulls it in. Here’s Pajki. Covered by Cunningham. Pajky’s shot is good. Pajk’s got eight points. Man, he’s got such a great touch and feel around the basket. He made that reverse look easy. And so it’s the Detroit Pistons heading to the bench with a seven-point lead as we wrap up the quarter. They’re feeling very confident shooting the ball with great efficiency and dictating the pace. And now let’s catch up with David Aldridge who’s standing by from the sideline. All right, Dave. Hey, Kevin. Thanks. Hey, Draymond. At times in that first half, they got it going in transition. Why were they able to beat you defensively? Uh, I would think it was so much defensively if it was offensively. you know, we turn the ball over and you can’t defend that. You know, when they get out running, their guards are going to get loose. So, we just got to stop turning the ball over offensively and that didn’t help our defensive turn. Yeah, your coach calls them plays of insanity, Draymond. So, we’ll see if you can adjust that in the second half. Thank you. Back to you, Kevin. Thanks, David. And we’ll be back shortly following halftime to get the third quarter underway. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. and we hope you’ve enjoyed the broadcast so far. We’re halfway through the game. You look at Kate Cunningham in this game, he’s been everywhere. And that’s the group for JBstaff as we begin the second half. We see coaches stand willing to pay fines for complaining about the officiated. I’m having a hard time thinking if you ever did go back in my rolodex here. Did you Did you ever do that, coach? I mean, Kevin, I paid hundreds of thousands of dollars of fines in the NBA. Yeah. My wife was not real happy about that. At one point, reminding me early on that we had four kids we were going to try to put through college, and she told me one year I just gave away two college educations. Oh goodness. Curry with it. Pass to Penski. Green dishes to Curry. Golden State moving it around. Here is Pensky and it’s off from three-point range. Pistons leading by five. Harris outside releases the Warriors pull it in. Pass to Penski. Shoots over Curry again. The miss by the Pistons. Golden State’s gone to the three-pointer 11 times tonight, nailed five of them. And now the latest from our reporter David. Kevin, thank you. Tobias Harris over the course of his career has played a lot at both forward positions. He says, “I’m comfortable playing both of them. I’m not big on the position thing. I’m versatile.” Kevin, he’s just a basketball player and a very, very good one. I would agree, David. I know you like him. We like him as well. A very skilled one at that. Thank you very much. Detroit’s gone 02 from deep to start things here in the second half. Here’s Ivy and two free throws coming up. Unable to get that one to go with all the content and it goes on Draymond Green as the son of two professional athletes. Stan Jaden Ivy was raised around sports. No good at the strike this time. second. This is awesome. The first thing people mention about Ivy is that explosiveness. The the first step allows him to get downhill and really makes him effective in those ISO situations. And there’s Butler with the flush as we approach the fourth quarter. Still anyone’s ball game. Heat. Heat. Heat Heat. Heat. Three minutes gone now in the third quarter. Cunningham against Curry. Stewart a screen for Cunningham. Their offense stone cold. Another misf to Green left side. Curry takes the three. Good on the triple. Curry’s got the lead up to four now for the Warriors. It doesn’t matter if it’s off the bounce or off the catch. Curry never loses rhythm on his jump shot. The screen from Thompson. Now here’s Ivy. He’s defended by Pajki. Clock is a three. Latro no good that time either. to the inside. Green and Green slams it in. How about the execution inside by Green? He’s excellent at knowing when to attack down low. And JB Bickerstaff is called a timeout. He wants a minute here to get things straightened out with his team. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Pistons trail by six. Here’s Cunningham. That’s in coming off the assist from Thompson. Thompson’s got five assists tonight. And with that basket, he puts a stop to the 13 nothing run there by Golden State. And a T3 from Curry. They get the rebound. Three. Rush contact on the shot. And now a three-point play chance as he’ll head to the line. Tremendous rebound. I mean, at the draft combine, they measured under 66 without shoes, but that 71 wingspan is what one team’s over. Here’s Harris and slam dunk by Harris. How about that finish by Harris? He sees his opening and does not hesitate to rise up and be free. Heel bounce pass Cunningham against Curry. Five to shoot and the three off target and so is Harris who will bring it up for Detroit. Cunningham a screen on Green. Harris inside guarded by Green Cunningham against Curry and that one clearly a foul. Gets the whistle and two shots coming up. Couple tough stuff from Cunningham inside, enduring the foul and able to get that one off. And a look at how the offensive approach has been going here so far for the Warriors. Well, the mid-range has been open for them. So, you’ve got to take what the defense gives and that’s been a great attack in this situation. And they’ve also played exceptionally well in the paint tonight, taking advantage of their opportunity to work inside. Moses Moody. He’s checked in for the Warriors. That one drops. He ties it up. Cleveland State’s gone one or four and three-point shots here in the third. Pass to Pajki. outside. Curry fires the three. Butler loves the three-point look and continuing to add to his offense over time. Butler excels at breaking down the defense. Thompson outside low. It’s tipped. Cunningham outside. shot from 16 and off the front and in it goes. Cunningham’s got six here in this quarter. Effective from the mid-range for Cunningham, it’s about shooting with confidence. Ajimky on the wing. Pass to Moody for the three. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Let’s go. So, it’s Detroit now. Stewart and that one drops. Stewart’s got nine. And guys, the D has to show a little more fight on the interior than they did on that trip. Back to Pajki. It’s up a three. And it’s Stephen Curry with a three. Curry’s got a pair of threes now here in the third for the Warriors. Curry against Levert. Harris outside, unloads from 13. Doesn’t go that time. I think he got the shot he wanted inside, but somewhere on the play, he just lost focus. Butler with the bucket down low. And he’s really made the most of his opportunities today. I mean, he needs to keep working for those kinds of looks outside Robinson. 17 ft shot on the way. Count it. And the Warrior lead has been cut down now to just four in the basket from Harris. And here’s Greenhill bring it up for the Warriors. Some nice passing by Golden State. Green the screen. Six on the shot clock. Off target with the open look. Detroit’s getting off to a very slow start from three-point range in the second half. They’re 0 for four. And good work on the boards. They pick up the second chance points. Relentless effort creates the second chance opportunity. Pass to Penski. Now here’s Moody. Curry on the wing. Stolen by Levert. Now Detroit moving it out. Makes the most of his running arms defensively. You just have to be careful when dribbling around the Warriors shooting it quite well in this third quarter. 53% and the offense is rolling. Here’s Pensky guarded by Robinson. And here is Curry for him. He gets it in there. Curry’s got 26. Yeah, well done to finish that one off, Frank. Their unselfish play has really been impressive. They’re trusting one another out there, wanting to get each other involved. This is great basketball. To the inside. Here’s Harris. Pass to Stewart and no good. Had a chance to take the lead there. Find him space on the perimeter, but he couldn’t capitalize. Green kicks to Kurt. Often we talk about depth, but how important is it for these two hands shots? They set them shooting free throws here. A good job to take it right at them. So far, he’s hit all of his shots at the foul line, going four for four. And last season, 86% from the line. So, he’s always had that calm presence at the line, no matter he’s out there. That’s their third three-pointer since halftime. First free throw is good. And it’s been an outstanding game for them at the free throw line, not missing their chances when they get them. Marcus answers checked in for Tobias Harris. He’s perfect from the line this time. There’s 117 left to play in the third. Here’s Chester. They get a hand on it and it’s the Warriors on the break. What a move at the rim. Butler. I tell you what, Butler is a physical dunker. I mean, he takes his craft seriously. I just love watching this guy take off. Pistons trail by six. 50 seconds left in the third. Outside Robinson back to Sasher. Stewart a screen. Four on the clock. Sasser gets the bucket. Sass. He ends up dropping in two from distance, making a difference from long range in this one. We’ve got Trace Jackson Davis. Moses Moody is out there with Stephen Curry and it’s post at the center locking down the middle and just so good at reading angles. When Levert spots a lane to the rim, he is all over Moody. The pass to Kur off target from three-point range. And so Levert will bring it up for the Pistons. Sasser finds Levert. Got a piece of it. Warriors leading by three to the paint. Here’s P. Basket is good. He’ll get a chance for one more at the line. How about battling through the impact there and then willing that basketball in. Find the lane. Find the lane. Wow. And a block like that sends a message. one that says we’re not giving up this lead. And we’ve made our way through just over a minute and a half in this fourth quarter. Five on the clock. Here’s Levert and he could not get that one to go. Lot of contact and he’ll go to the line for two. It goes on Moses Moody. Oh, tricky shot for Levert. Defense is all over him, but he draws a foul on that attempt. And he makes the first and the Pistons making a change here. Smith has checked in. that misses. So he splits the free throws. Warriors leading by seven inside. And the slam by Moody who reversed it home. That was pretty. Agreed. The agility on display. All Reeds jacked in for the Pistons. One shot. And the free throw no good. The Pistons have gone one of three from the field to start the fourth quarter. Reed a screen on K. Sass tried to come right back with a three of his own, but it’s no good. Warriors leading by 10. Outside curl, pass to post and hustling forth there, but no one has possession. It’s Robinson high post to the middle. And the dunk by Robinson. And how about the recognition there from Lever. Coaching staff will appreciate that kind of ball movement. And here’s Curry who brings it up for the Warriors. They’ve allowed just seven points here in the fourth quarter from deep and they’ll get another chance. Three-pointer. Drills the three-pointer. Sharp pass to set up that high percentage shot in post. The Pistons have gone five for nine from the field in the final quarter so far. disaster. A three-pointer is right on target and now it’s just a four-point Warrior lead. Now here’s Levert guarded closer and the dunk by Reed. An allaround threat. Lever is skilled at sizing up defenses and exploiting them in that pick and roll. And we’ve got a timeout called by Steve Kerr. He knows every possession is critical now. There’s a the pick for Simon. It’s always making turnovers Heat. Heat. And a different look here for the Pistons. Tobias Harris has checked in for Paul Reed. Assar Thompson comes in for Robinson. Jaden Ivy, he’s checked in for Caris Levert. And Kate Cunningham subbed in for Marcus Hasser. And with an update from the sidelines, let’s check in with David Aldridge. Hey guys, I was able to catch the message Steve Kerr gave to his team. Now he reminded his team, keep looking for the deep ball. If the three is there, take it. You’ve done a good job getting those looks, so keep taking them. Back to you guys. Thank you, David. Pass to heal now. Pajimski. The body control from Butler. Wow. And that’s what he does for Simon. He is a Here is outside and that’s the dunk by Tatum for Cunningham slams it in. And you can see why they continue to call Cunningham’s number once he flipped that switch. And that’s right in his wheelhouse, looking to make an impact when it counts. Well, you know, this is when they lean on him and he delivers with a much needed score. Burries the long range jumper. Heavy incoming from beyond the arc. A key part of their initiative this entire fourth quarter. Yeah, it’s always a little risky to lean this hard on the three-point shot, but when you’re knocking him down, you might as well keep riding it. Harris good and the assist goes to Cunningham and it does a world of good for them to have Harris getting busy inside. Gives them that inside out edge they’re looking for. Green with a screen on Cunningham. Curry can’t get it to go. Histories trail by six. Cunningham kicks to Thompson. to the right wing. Honey for three and the rebound goes to the Warriors and it’s clinging in at the five rolling the heel. You look at career off target from outside. Detroit’s got just one or four three-pointers to go down for them here on the floor. And Harris gets it to go on the assist by Thompson. And now just a fourpoint Warrior lead. And it’s Curry with the ball bringing it up for Golden State. Healed outside. Green with a screen on Harris. Wow. Ball from way outside. Their ability again to stretch the floor particularly in this second half. Yeah. And where has the defense been? They’ve been content to let them fire away. They’ve got to close out to the other three. Here the kick out to Bellingham. The rebound by Heel. Warriors leading by seven. Down low. And he finishes nicely on the rim. He’s got 36. Well, this is what you’re trying to do. Put the game away. Yeah, but you can’t let up now. We’ve seen too many wilds. This is Cunningham. And right through it goes. And I like how composed Cunningham is. lets the game and his shots come to him. Curry against Cunningham. Curry is inside. The layup off target and that one goes out of bounds. Clever move by Curry, taking the foul, but still getting the shot on. Shooting two. He drops the first one. That stretches their lead to eight. What you appreciate most about Curry is his confidence, especially when it comes to how far he can connect from. And so he drops them both. It’s a 9-point ball game. No doubt that just about seers. Now a timeout called by Detroit. 36 seconds left here in the fourth quarter outside Curry. Just too big a deficit to come back from at this point. Well, you want your players to keep playing hard, but let’s be honest, this game’s over. 6second difference between the shot and game plan. Thompson misses. So, we see the Warriors get the win here. They came in here and took care of business like they were the home team. And Kevin, how about the mental toughness that this group showed? They they were never rattled at all by the opposing fans. And a chance now to send it over to David Aldridge standing by Courtzine. David, thanks very much. Draymond, one of the cliches of basketball is that the ball finds energy. When teammates are making shots, does that give you more energy? Uh, yeah, it does. You know, when we’re in the flow, the ball’s just moving around. It allows me to play make and, you know, then I just try to find open gap and take the shots where they are. Man, it was really flowing tonight, man. Congrats on the win. Back to you. Much appreciated, David. And that’ll do it, folks. So, for Stan Van Gundy, Greg Anthony, and David Aldridge, I’m Kevin Harland. Thanks for watching the NBA on 2K Sports. And now, we present the player of the game, Jimmy Butler. Yeah, each of these teams are anchored by their big men. I think it’s going to be physical and highly intensified. And now the Golden State Warriors starters in the back court. We’ll see Curry and Pajki. Jimmy Butler is out there with Green and it’s healed in at the three. Cunningham’s shot is off. Green kicks to Curry. Pistons have gone one of three from the field to start this one so far. Pass to Duran. Shoots over Curry and he’s off on his first shot of the game. And it’s the Warriors ball. Three-pointer heel. It’s good. He makes his first shot of the game. Count that bucket. Well, you love the unselfishness. Makes the next pass and enables his team to capitalize on the possession. And you look at the Detroit Pistons, Stan. So much young talent, but the chemistry is a work in progress clearly. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. First quarter play and just over 3 and 1/2 minutes in. It’s picked off. Outside Green. Pass to Pajimski. And here is Heield. He’s covered by Thompson. Goes up from the top of the key. Shot is good. Off the back rim and in. Good job of stepping up to the plate there. easing back the momentum for his team. Yeah, plenty of lead changes in this game. It’s gone back and forth and we’ve got a timeout called by Steve Ker and coach has decided they need a moment to talk things over. Here is Lever’s check in for Asar Thompson. The Warriors have gone four for nine from the field to start this game off. Pass to Penski. knocks it loose and stolen by Harris. Levert up top. Cunningham looking it over. Back to Levert. Just five on the clock. Durham with a screen on heel. There’s Levert. The top of the key jumper is on the mark. And how about the playmaking skills on the vert I like watching this guy break down the D in the pick and roll. Now let’s send it over to David Aldridge who was able to talk with JB Bicker Stamp. Uh GA, what do you think? There can be some truth to that. He he gets held and grabbed more than anyone when running off screens, but especially blatant on drives to the rim. Takes it off the glass. Curry’s got seven. Stronger than he looks. Curry able to take the hit there and finish. Cunningham against Kirk. Cunningham outside in that one. Good. He’s got seven. Just showing some grown man strength there. Cunningham gifted at working through the contact. Pass to Pimski. Now heel levert defending and it’s good off the back of the rim and in and the Warriors lead by one. Guys, seven times the lead has changed hands here now. Yeah, and that number should easily top double figures before it’s over. Now here’s Durham and here is Harris from outside the ark. Pajinski grabs the board. uses the glass to finish the layup. Not many guys with Butler’s build have his skill set inside. Pass to Duran. Here’s Levert. Back to Harris. Ivy with it. He’s defended by Penski. Curves the screen for Ivy. Kept alive. Cunningham outside, hits it from three-point range. Cunningham’s got it all tied up now for the Pistons. And you can play Cunningham on the ball, off the ball. He’s really a generational talent partly because of his versatility. Here’s Pajki. Ivy defending. Here’s Heel. It’s hauled in by Harris. and Zoirez who will bring it up for Detroit. Cunningham with it now guarded by Heield. Cunningham’s shot is off. Not really what we expected. You know he wants that one back. It’s stolen by Cunningham. Harris outside. Pistons passing it around. Here’s the three and then another three for Detroit. And breaking down some numbers here, the hustle stats for the Pistons. Well, so far they’ve done a great job of reading the offense and repeatedly putting themselves in the right place to interrupt the play and force turnovers. And so far, just a great job forcing turnovers and creating opportunities in the open floor. Looking at who’s out there now for the Pistons. Stewart checked in for Duran. And it’s Assar Thompson in for Jaden Ivy. That’s good from Cunningham. It didn’t take long for Kate Cunningham to establish himself as the leader of this team. Well, Kevin, he’s very mature for his age. He was put in a position with all young guys around him, so he had to step up. And I’ve never heard Kade Cunningham blame anyone else for the team struggles. Just a bulldog who embraces finishing against the tight cover. Cunningham outside and he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. This is his second trip to the line in this one. Shooting two. and he knocks down the first point. And it’s easy to see why so many are so high on Cunningham. A talented guard who can do a little bit of everything. Robinson’s checked in for the Pistons. Denzel Cunningham nails both of them. Santos, the pass to Moody. Four on the shot clock. Here’s Curry with the three. Rebounded by the Pistons and not allowing you to see even an inch of bre on that one. There’s no air space there whatsoever. That’s as close as you can get without a hand on it and that’s out of bounds. Jordan will retain possession. Here’s Stewart. still yet to score. Three-pointer Levert. No good on that one. And still a close game as the first quarter comes to a close. Pistons lead by three. And don’t go away. We’ll be back with the action for the start of the second quarter in just a moment. So on the floor for Golden State to begin this second quarter, they’ve got Curry also Moses Moody out there and it’s post in at the center position. Pistons leading by three. Here’s Levert right wing pulls it up and his first shot of the game. No good. And it’s Curry with the ball, bringing it up for the Golden State Warriors. Launches it. And again, it’s the Pistons missing. Golden State’s gone 46 from outside the arc tonight. Here’s Curry with the three. Rebounded by the Pistons. And the short break in the action gives us a chance now to send it over to David. Kevin, thanks. Obviously, the Pistons in the midst of a long rebuild. Two seasons in a row at the bottom of Elite Sandies. Last season, they had the worst record in this once proud franchise’s history. That counts the record setting 28game losing streak that they have. It’s pretty clear that this could be a long road back to redemption. Kevin. Yeah, could is the operative word. This could be indeed. David, thank you. The shot by Curry. No good. Well, I’m surprised that didn’t fall for him. We know that’s a shot he can hit. And there wasn’t much resistance either. For a center, he’s maybe undersized, but his ability to get in the air to make a play balances that out. Over to the left wing. Pass to Jackson Davis. Here’s Post. guarded by Stewart. Six to shoot and Curry has it in the corner. Another miss by Curry. The Vistons have gone two of five from the field here in the second court shooting 40%. Gets it to goal from beyond the ar seeing more and more great international players in the NBA. And you’ve had a chance to coach some of the good ones as well. Well, yeah. Look, I mean, you’re right about the league now. We see every year it seems like the MVP is an international player. I had Turk, who was a big part of what we did in Orlando, was a most improved player in the league one year and a key part of our team that made it to the finals. 610, highly skilled, very versatile guy. There are great players coming from everywhere in the world. So, it’s the Warriors now. Eight-point game. And so, Steve Cerr calls for the timeout. Wants to talk some things over. Might be seeing some things to adjust. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. And the Pistons making a change here. Sassers checked in. And the Warriors making a change here. And the Warriors with possession here, trailing here by eight. But Gemsky’s shot is good. And with those points, he puts an end to that 100 run by the Pistons. Outside, Robinson. Pass to Levert. Stewart trying to get over it. And it’s Levert missing. Warriors trail by six. Outside Curry. Back to Pajki. It’s held in by Stewart. Well, if you give him that shot again, I’m willing to bet he nails it. especially with that lack of defensive effort. Puts the move on and he sinks the way up. Robinson’s got five minutes. He lays it in and the Pistons lead by nine. Well, his rebounding is such a boost for this team, especially when it comes on the offensive end. Takes it from 10. Curry gets it to go inside. And here are the Pistons now. They’re on a 16-7 run. He comes in for Moses Moody. Here is Cunningham. 15 points in the game. Pass to Duran. Now here’s Ivy. He’s defended by Pajki. The shot by Ivy. No good. Warriors trail by seven. When it comes to players who like having fun, Greg, Jimmy Butler has to be way up there. If you see his media picture for the 24 season, he looked like he belonged in an emo band with that hairstyle. Jimmy is definitely one of those guys that likes to troll and have fun. And looking at that replay again, just a big time block right there. And this is how you protect and grow a lead by making a huge effort on that end of the floor. Healed against Robinson. Just five to shoot. Goes up with the strike. Up it goes. Now that’s 17 points for Cade Cunningham. Now here’s Duran. No scoring in this one. And he gets the whistle for the 3second call. And now let’s take a look again at that incredible rejection. Quick thinking pays off big. What a block. The sport just continues to grow. And there’s increased value being placed on allaround skill even in youth basketball. And I think that bodess well for the future of the game. And that one goes in two from the line that time. A highly talented two-way player. Butler is also known for his tough-nosed approach to the game. Thompson kicks to Ivy. Pass to Harris. Thompson outside, shoots again. Harris has got three assists now in this one. Warriors trail by 11. Pass to Green. And yep, that’s going to be a flagrant foul. Unnecessary contact. Boy, a very hard foul that time. And the officials had to slap him with the flagrant. I mean, you can’t let him get away with that kind of contact. Yeah, G, that’s an easy call for the officials to make when there’s that much contact. The league is really cracking down on those sort of plays. And the first one drops. What I appreciate most about Green is his leadership. Strong vocally on and off the floor. That one falls. So, he hits both of them. There’s 45 seconds left to play here in the half. Pass to Penski to the paint. He can’t hit. Ed with the ball. He’ll bring it up for the Detroit Pistons. 13 points was their biggest lead in the game. Ivy passes to Harris. And here’s Cunningham. They’re feeling very confident shooting the ball with great efficiency and dictating the pace. And now, let’s catch up with David Aldridge who’s standing by from the sideline. All right, Dave. Hey, Kevin. Thanks. Hey, Draymond. At times in that first half, they got it going in transition. Why were they able to beat you defensively? Uh, I don’t think it was so much defensively if it was offensively. You know, we turn the ball over and you can’t defend that. You know, when they get out running, their guards are going to get loose. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. And we hope you’ve enjoyed the broadcast so far. We’re halfway through the game. And that’s the group for JB Bicker Staff as we begin the second half. We see coaches stand willing to pay fines for complaining about the officiated. I’m having a hard time thinking if you ever did that. I’m going back going back in my rolodex here. Did you Did you ever do that, coach? I mean, Kevin, I paid hundreds of thousands of dollars of fines in the NBA. Yeah. My wife was not real happy about that. At one point, reminding me early on that we had four kids we were going to try to put through college, and she told me one year I just gave away two college educations. Oh, goodness. Curry with it. Pistons shooting at 50% in a decent group. Cunningham kicks to Ivy. Pass to Harris. Cunningham with it. Run past the arc. Detroit. No good that time either. Harris against Curry. The offbalance finish. Curry. There isn’t a shot Steph Curry doesn’t have a feel for. Floaters, runners, whatever. The tougher the better. Curry against Cunningham. Shoots over Curry again. The miss by the Pistons. Golden State’s gone to the three-pointer 11 times tonight, nailed five of them. And now the latest from our reporter David. Kevin, thank you. Tobias Harris over the course of his career has played a lot at both forward positions. He says, “I’m comfortable playing both. I’m not big on the position thing. I’m versatile.” Kevin, who’s just a basketball player and a very, very good I would agree, Dave. I know you like him. We like him as well. A very skilled one at that. Thank you very much. No good at the strike this time. second. This is awesome. The first thing people mention about Ivy is that explosiveness. The the first step allows him to get downhill and really makes him effective in those ISO situations. And there’s Butler with the flush. As we approach the fourth quarter, still anyone’s ball game. Yeah, neither team able to create much of a cushion. And JB Bickerstaff is called a timeout. And that one clearly a foul. Gets the whistle and two shots coming up. Couple tough stuff from Cunningham inside. Enduring the foul and able to get that one off. Cleveland State’s gone one or four and three-point shots here in the third. Pass to Pajki outside. He wants to make some adjustments to the game plan clearly. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Let’s go. Let’s go. So, it’s Detroit now. Stewart and that one drops. Stewart’s got nine, guys. When teammates are making shots, does that give you more energy? Uh, yeah, it does. You know, when we’re in the flow, the ball’s just moving around. It allows me to playmate and, you know, then I just try to find an open gap and take the shots where they are. Man, it was really flowing tonight, man. Congrats on the win. Back to you. Pistons have gone one of three from the field to start this one so far. Pass to Duran. Shoots over Curry and he’s off on his first shot of the game. And it’s the Warriors ball. Three-pointer heel. It’s good. He makes his first shot of the game. And you’ve got to be up on heels, especially when he’s beyond the arc. If not, he’ll burn you. Harris looking it over to the paint. They kick out to Cunningham and they come right back with their own three-point. Cunningham’s got five points so far. And here’s Curry who brings it up for Golden State. Trailing by two. Pass to Heel. Vajenski on the wing. Got that bucket. Well, you love the unselfishness. Makes the next pass and enables his team to capitalize on the possession. And you look at the Detroit Pistons, Stan. has so much young talent, but the chemistry is a work in progress, clearly. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. First quarter of play and just over 3 and 1/2 minutes in, it’s picked off. Outside Green. Pass to Penski. And here is Heel. He’s covered by Thompson. Goes up from the top of the key. Shot is good. Off the back rim and in. Heel’s got five points so far. The jumper is the calling guard of Buddy Heel. It’s why he’s been able to score points consistently in his career. Here’s Thompson covered by Heel. Pass to Ivy. Detroit no good that time either and on an open look like that he’s very gifted at making the weak coverage payski no good on the three the Pistons trailer pass it to Harris and slam dunk by Harris good job of stepping up to the plate there easing back the momentum for his team yeah plenty of lead changes in this game it’s gone back and forth and we’ve got a timeout called by Steve Kerr and coach has decided they need a moment to talk things over. Kirus Lever checked in for Assar Thompson. The Warriors have gone four for nine from the field to start this game off. Pass to Pajki. Knocks it loose and stolen by Harris. Levert up top. Cunningham looking it over. Back to Levert. Just five on the clock. Durham with the screen on He’s Levert. The top of the key jumper is on the mark. And how about the playmaking skills of the vert? I like watching this guy break down the D in the pick and roll. Now, let’s send it over to David Aldridge, who was able to talk with JB Bicker Stamp. We talked about a lot of things, including how to try and slow down Steph Curry. Uh GA, what do you think? There could be some truth to that. He He gets held and grabbed more than anyone when running off screens, but especially blatant on drives to the rim. Takes it off the glass. Curry’s got seven. Stronger than he looks. Curry able to take the hit there and finish. Cunningham against Curry. Cunningham outside in that one. Good. He’s got seven. Just showing some grown man strength there. Cunningham gifted at working through the contact. Pass to Penski. Now heel. Levert defending and it’s good off the back of the rim and in. And the Warriors lead by one, guys. Seven times the lead has changed hands here now. Yeah, and that number should easily top double figures before it’s over. Now here’s Duran. And here is Harris from outside the arm. Penski grabs the board. Here’s Pajki. Ivy defending. Here’s the three and another three for Detroit. And breaking down some numbers here. The hustle stats for the Pistons. Well, so far they’ve done a great job of leading the offense and repeatedly putting themselves in the right place to interrupt the play and force turnover and so far just a great job forcing turnovers and creating opportunities in the open floor. The defense at the heart of that pass to Levert. Back to Cunningham and they call the foul. So a chance at the line for one more coming up. Just a special offensive talent. We don’t see guys like Cunningham come through the league that often. The Pistons shooting their first free throw of the game. Yeah, and 79% from the line as a team a season ago. Pretty reliable in that regard. Looking at who’s out there now for the Pistons. Stewart checked in for Duran. And it’s Assar Thompson in for Jaden Ivy. That’s good from Cunningham. Georgia, it didn’t take long for Kate Cunningham to establish himself as the leader of this team. Well, Kevin, he’s very mature for his age. He was put in a position with all young guys around him, so he had to step up. And I’ve never heard Kate Cunningham blame anyone else for the team struggles. He’s got everything you could want in a team leader. Harris outside. free throw line jump shot. Cunningham’s shot is off. Golden State’s gone three or four on three-pointers in the first quarter. Doing well from long range. The Pistons leading. Here’s Thompson banked in off the glass. Got to do more than this to stop Thompson. He’s used to having to fight through contact. Richard covered by Cunningham. Here’s Post. Nothing on the board. And the layup is good. And this kind of shot defines who Butler is. Just a bulldog who embraces finishing against the tight cover. Cunningham outside and he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. This is his second trip to the line in this one. Shoot two. and he knocks down the first point. And it’s easy to see why so many are so high on Cunningham. A talented guard who can do a little bit of everything. Robinson’s checked in for the Pistons. Denzel Cunningham nails both of them. Rebounded by the Pistons and not allowing the shooter even an inch of breathing room on that one. There’s no air space there whatsoever. That’s as close as you can get without a hand on it and that’s out of bounds. Will retain possession. Here’s Stewart. Still yet to score. Three-pointer. No good on that one. And still a close game as the first quarter comes to a close. Pistons lead by three. And don’t go away. We’ll be back with the action for the start of the second quarter in just a moment. So on the floor for Golden State to begin this second quarter. They’ve got Curry also Moses Moody out there and it’s post in at the center position. Avert against Curry. Stewart kicks to Thompson. The three-pointer no good. And even without that three ball dropping for him, the defense should have done more on that last play. Pass to Moody outside. Curry a three. Wow. Curry automatic from deep. On the offensive end, Curry both prolific and efficient. Thompson with it. Pistons passing it around. Launches it. And again, it’s the Pistons missing. Golden State’s gone 46 from outside the arc tonight. Here’s Curry with the three. Rebounded by the Pistons with a short break in the action. gives us a chance now to send it over to David. Kevin, thanks. Obviously, the Pistons in the midst of a long rebuild. Two seasons in a row at the bottom of the league standings. Last season, they had the worst record in this once proud franchise’s history. That counts the record setting 28game losing streak that they had. It’s pretty clear that this could be a long road back to redemption, Kevin. Yeah, could is the operative word. This could be indeed. David, thank you. A shot by Curry. No good. Well, I’m surprised that didn’t fall for him. We know that’s a shot he can hit. And there wasn’t much resistance either. For a center, he’s maybe undersized, but his ability to get in the air to make a play balances that out. Over to the left wing. Pass to Jackson Davis. Here’s Post guarded by Stewart. Six to shoot and Curry has it in the corner. Another miss by Curry. The Vistons have gone two of five from the field here in the second quarter shooting 40%. gets it to goal from beyond the we are st seeing more and more great international players in the NBA and you’ve had a chance to coach some of the good ones as well. Well, yeah. Look, Johnny, you’re right about the league. Now, we see every year it seems like the MVP is an international player. I had Turko, who was a big part of what we did in Orlando, was a most improved player in the league one year and a key part of our team that made it to the finals. 610, highly skilled, very versatile guy. There are great players coming from everywhere in the world. So, it’s the Warriors now. Eight-point game. But Jimsky’s shot is good. him with those points. He puts an end to that 100 run by the Pistons. Outside Robinson pass to Levert. Stewart trying to get over and it’s Levert missing. Warriors trail by six outside Curry. Back to Pajki. It’s held in by Stewart. Well, can you give him that shot again? I’m willing to bet he nails it, especially with that lack of defensive effort. Sasser. Stewart with a screen on Curry. He’s jumped in for the Warriors. He comes in for Moses Moody. Here is Cunningham. 15 points in the game. Pass to Duran. Now here’s Ivy. He’s defended by Pensky. The shot by Ivy. No good. Warriors trail by seven. When it comes to players who like having fun, Greg, Jimmy Butler has to be way up there. You see his media picture for the 2024 season. He looked like he belonged in an emo band with that hairstyle. Jimmy is definitely one of those guys that likes to troll and have fun. And looking at that replay again, just a big time block right there. And this is how you protect and grow a lead by making a huge effort on that end of the floor. Healed against Robinson. Just five to shoot. Goes up with the stripe. Yep. It goes. And the Piston lead is cut down now to just five on the bucket from Heel. And I like seeing Heel take advantage of that mid-range area, appearing confident in taking this shot. Jordan finds Ivy. Now here is Harris. Ivy passes to Harris. Down low. Here’s Cunningham. Basket is good. The assist from Harris. Now that’s 17 points for Kate Cunningham. And it’s Curry with the ball bringing it up for the Warriors. Outside Green. Here’s Pensky. Ivy defending. Healed from outside to Detroit with the rebound. The Warriors have gone six of 14 shooting here in the second. Back to Bajki inside. Here’s Curry. They get it. It’s deflected. Cunningham outside down low. Outside for Robinson. Another three for Detroit. And credit Harris for creating that high percentage look. Scanning the floor and finding the best option. Outside curves. Green against Harris. Green left side and again unable to change momentum here. Pistons leading by 13. Cunningham outside. Now here’s Duran. No scoring in this one. And he gets the whistle for the 3second call. And now let’s take a look again at that incredible rejection. Quick thinking pays off big. What a block. Assar Thompson. He’s checked in for the Pistons. The Warriors also with a sub. Moody’s checked in for Curry. Warriors trail by 13 now. Green. Pass to Moody. Lock at six. Shooting foul. As the whistle blows, he’ll shoot two free throws. It’s on Thompson. Butler is just hard to guard inside. Really good at using his body to create contact against the defense at the basket. The first free throw is good. Greg, what a great time to be a fan of basketball, not just in the NBA, but all over the world. Absolutely, Kevin. The sport just continues to grow. And there’s increased value being placed on allaround skill even in youth basketball. And I think that bodess well for the future of the game. And that one goes in two from the line that time. A highly talented two-way player. Butler is also known for his toughest approach to the game. Thompson kicks to Ivy. Pass to Harris. Thompson outside, shoots again. A point throw who excels at passing. Here’s Cunningham and he drives in. Basket is good. The assist from Harris. Harris has got three assists now in this one. Warriors trail by 11. Pass to Green and Yep. That that’s going to be a flagrant foul. Field can’t hit. There’s Cha with the ball. He’ll bring it up for the Detroit Pistons. 13 points was their biggest lead in the game. Ivy passes to Harris and here’s Cunningham. Shoots the three. Draymond Green pulls it in. Here’s Pajki covered by Cunningham. Uh, I don’t think it was so much defensively if it was offensively. You know, we turn the ball over and you can’t defend that. You know, when they get out running, their guards are going to get loose. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. and we’ve hope you’ve enjoyed the broadcast so far. We’re halfway through the game. You look at Kate Cunningham in this game, he’s been everywhere. Well, he he left his mark on that first half with his quick hands, great sense of timing to pile up the steals. And because of that, I expect to see a huge emphasis on ball control moving forward. Thompson and Harris are their forwards. The back court pair will be Cunningham and Ivy. And it’s Duran in at the five. And that’s the group for JB Vick staff as we begin the second half. We see coaches stand willing to pay fines for complaining about the officiated. Take a hard time thinking if you ever did that. Oh goodness. Curry with it. Pass to Pajki. Green dishes to Curry. Golden State moving it around. Here’s Pimski and it’s off from three-point range. Detroit. No good that time either. Harris against Curry. The offbalance finish. Curry. There isn’t a shot Steph Curry doesn’t have a feel for. Floaters, runners, whatever. The tougher the better. Curry against Cunningham. Shoots over Curry. Again, the miss by the Pistons. Second misses. Also, the first thing people mention about Ivy is that explosiveness. The the first step allows him to get downhill and really makes him effective in those ISO situations. And here’s Butler with the flush. Stewart a screen for Cunningham. Their offense stone cold. Another miss to Green left side. Brock is a three. Latro no good that time either to the inside. Green. And Green slams it in. How about the execution inside by Green? He’s excellent at knowing when to attack down low. And JB Vickerstaff is called a timeout. He wants a minute here to get things straightened out with his team. Heat. Heat.
