Rays vs. Giants Game Highlights (8/15/25) | MLB Highlights
From Bay to Bay. What a picturesque view of Oracle Park here in San francisco. The final leg of this wild Wild West road trip. It’s the Rays and the Giants on a gorgeous Friday evening here from San francisco. Well, look, the Rays and the Giants are both basically in the same boat. Both teams in four plays, both teams about three or four games under 500. So what do you do? Well, you try to get going and that’s what Johnson tried to do tonight. So what do you expect out of landing roop? Who by the way is just coming off the IO? Well, they’re going to put a cap on him. I don’t think he’ll be allowed to throw more than 70 pitches, but I expect him to be good. I mean, I expect him to be good every time he takes out rubber down chopper to Third Schmidt all over it on a short hop and that’s how this game gets started. That’s what Ru wants to do. He wants to keep those infielders busy because of that two seam fastball, got it. Nasty sink, big time move. But crashing away, swing big chopper to third right behind the bag Schmidt’s got it wins, fires the first inning over three up, three down a strikeout and a couple of ground odds. We’re looking for a bounce back outing from Joe Boyle coming off of one of his roughest starts against Seattle where he went three and a third, six runs, five walks and he gave up three runs and it’s all about control. Right. You got to be in the strike zone. If he can be in the strike zone , he can take care of, you know , this offense that has really been struggling in San Francisco and he strikes out Ramos to begin things. Well, that’s, that’s an unfair pitch and Ramos would be the first to tell you that. So would joe Boyle a backup slider that just locks you up another strikeout for Boyle two in a row? And how many triple digits already every fastball in that sequence? So after two strikeouts, he walks a hitter to bring up Dom smith, the 10, Adamo goes, he’s got it stolen and that’s his fifth of the year. So now Adama with his fifth steal of the year is in scoring position. Base hit left field. Here comes Adam Giants lead one up a two out walk to Adama, he stole second and Then with the shortstop playing almost up the middle and smith just punched one right through that wide open shortstop area where nobody was to give the Giants a one nothing lead. Junior Como Strides plate where he and brandon Low have been the Rays offense during this road trip. It’s amazing what they’ve done in the year to left and hit well and he hits it out everywhere. Junior cao into the front row and the Rays have tied it up. Number 35. Junior como has the most homers of any Ray on any road trip in history. He’s got seven on the trip, 35 on the year. It’s a one, one game. Second walk a lot. Jung Houli was the Giants leadoff hitter here in the second inning. Christian Kos. Now right hand batter runner goes and the throw not in time and a steal for Jung Ho Lee. The Giants in two innings have already stolen two bases. Ninth steal of the year for Lee Ks hitting 320 with runners in scoring position. Better than that down the line. It’ll be a two beggar for K and coming in to score is Lee and it went by that angled wall which comes out close to the foul line and shot into the corner making the right fielder low have to chase it as Paley pops this one up, shallow right field coming in and Lowe and he’ll reach now he dropped it. It’s gonna be a catch and Cos decides to go and I think they got him. No, as soon as that ball got dropped by Lowe Ks decided to take off. I don’t know that he ever tagged him at all. Much less before he got to the bag Ramos. The leadoff man called out on strikes his first time. 2 to 1. Giants. The pitch there’s a drive in the right field going back is Lowe on the warning track at the wall. He leads and it’s over, gets off the wall. It bounces over into right center field coming in to score is from third and into second and holding there, Elliott Ramos and the Giants lead 3 to 1 with runners at 1st and 3rd 1 out and the Giants leading 3 to 1. Tampa Bay down 31 in the third. Struck out his first time. Lawson to left should be deep enough to score. Fiducia Simpson’s going to try for second base. He’s there and Fiducia scores and it’s 3 to 2. Giants sack fly for brandon Lau. The other way, the Rays get a run back and now trail 32 and Chandler Simpson on a fly ball to left field moves up 90 ft as well. Jandi grounded to third his first time. He’s had a quiet trip. If this drops, it would tie it fair ball and Simpson scores. The Rays have an answer. It’s 3 to 3. It’s a flare single the other way and the Rays have an answer again. They’ve scored two in the third. It’s now a 33 game. Hey, we got a 33 game is Willie Adamo to lead things off, hit high and deep into center field on the move is Megan at the wall out of here up over the right center field wall into the rays bullpen. And that was a big time power from Adam, a towering fly ball that goes out his 19th home run of the year and it’s 43 giants. They grab the lead right back into and stopping. There is Tom smith Chandler Simpson for all the speed he has. I don’t think he took a particularly good route on that ball. He almost made up for it with that incredible closing speed but his head long dive, he just missed it by a few inches. And that’s ball four takes the walk on base for the second consecutive time. Patrick Bailey a chance against Seymour Bailey who will hit right handed against the lefty little flair to right. Is this fair? You bet one run scores. Ben Williams is waving him in and the throw is going to go to second two runs, score 6 to 3 giants pas scores all the way from first showing off. Very good speed. That was an inside out kind of swing and he dunked one down the right field line. Giants have put six on the board. Como stops at second and just like that, the Rays have the tying run coming to the plate down 63. And is that Bob Melvin going out to the mound 63 Rays trail in the fourth and a wild one on this Friday night in San Francisco. The pitcher gauge and the bases are loaded, deflected off his glove to third base on the grass and now the Rays will pinch hit for fiducia with the bases full and I think Christopher Mll is going to be the pinch hitter spun lightly gauge a glove flip out at first but scoring is common. Runners go to 2nd and 3rd and 64 Giants. It’s now a 64 game with the tying runs in scoring position. Manga at third Kim at second two out and here comes Chandler Simpson slash to left it a base hit that will tie it up, man. Scores coming right behind him. Kim two. The other way for Chandler Simpson Rays have scored in three straight innings and each time they answer the Giants, it’s a new game. It is 6 to 6 in the fourth inning. We are at the witching hour on the east coast here on the west coast. It’s 66 in the 62 on two out. Joey Lucchese is the fourth pitcher for the Giants and he faces Chandler Simpson who’s two for three with a two run single that tied the game up, hit up the middle. Adam gonna have to throw it not in time are going to look at this one. It’s going to be close after review, the call on the field is overturned. The runner is out francisco. Well, that’s big. That would have been bases loaded. The pitch to Schmidt. Look at that, hit him a fastball. 93. He started his swing at it now. He’s in really great pain. He’s down on all fours and Bob Melvin comes out along with jazz trainer, Anthony Reyes. He immediately started reaching with his left hand after he got hit with, to his right wrist or right arm and they’re gonna, they’re gonna take him out of the game here. So Tyler Fitzgerald, maybe the Giants fastest runner is going to go in as the pinch runner for him. Line drive to right. That’ll be a hit Fitzgerald had to freeze. So now the Giants have runners at 1st and 2nd and I think he got hit and the bases are loaded. Second hit batsman of the inning , caught and Then he throws it away as the runners Then freeze. But there is one out here in the eighth inning. Now it’s Drew Gilbert’s turn slowly hit Seymour out. No throw back to first. There’s two away to Camaro. He goes to short way and lau holds on and somehow Edwin ha gets out of the jam preserving the tie. Fortes takes the turn. He’s going to go first to third. The throw comes into second. Simpson comes through and the Rays have 1st and 3rd and nobody out tied at six in the ninth inning. Simpson walked basically to second infield in there was no one to cover on the ground. You got to come home. Simpson moves up to third and the Rays have 1st and 3rd and 1 out. Lau puts it in play just didn’t get it in the air against Rodriguez. And now the question is, can Yandy Diaz do that or at least stay out of a double play here into right field and the Rays take the lead for the first time tonight. Yandy Diaz with two strikes, gets one to right field and it’s 7 to 6 Rays in the ninth inning. Devers goes to third two down here in the ninth inning and the Rays and out away from an impressive comeback win. Tyler Fitzgerald who pinch ran last inning because Casey Schmidt was hit by a pitch stands in the way of a 76 victory. He popped it up. Brandon LAE, is there? The Rays hang on in San francisco and win game one against the Giants 1/9 inning run as the Rays pull one out their first lead of the night ends up being enough as they came back several times from multiple runs down and beat the Giants by the final of 7 to 6.
