Some guys need to get a superstar whistle not because they’re the best player on the floor, but because other players are jealous of them and will deliberately try to cheat or hurt them and you need to send the message that that’s not going to be tolerated.

I told my good buddy back in like 2013 that Carmelo is a garbage disposal type of superstar. Lowest tier on the highest platform. He scores points and does absolutely nothing else. Doesn’t make his teammates better. Is not a role model for aspiring young players. Is not exciting to watch play, it’s always just kind of “oh wow that went in”, and then you check the score and the the Nuggets or Knicks are down 8 still.
He eats his team’s chances like a garbage disposal keeps a sink clear of debris.
The way Kobe and Melo treated Lin is one of those things that’s a bit swept under the rug. But make no mistake, it was deeply fucked and it should absolutely tarnish both of their legacies (and the league for looking the other way).
