So, as you see right here, coming from Shams, the Miami Heat are signing guard Drew Smith on a new three-year contract. Sources tell ESPN Smith has developed with the Heat program and has overcome season ending ACL and Achilles injuries in each of the past two years. So, it’s a three-year, $7.9 million deal. Now, Drew Smith averaged about 6.2 two points a game on 51% shooting, 53% from the three-point line with 1.5 steals in 14 games last season. But I’m going to be honest with you, the Miami Heat have made a lot of bad decisions. And one of the decisions that they made was trade Heywood Highmith to get under the luxury tax and have two roster spots open. Then after they do that, they bring in Drew Smith. They don’t bring in Kai Jones, a position of need. And maybe they still will, but I feel like you guys gave enough opportunity to Drew Smith. And this is no Drew Smith slander at all. But is Drew Smith going to take away KJ’s minutes? Kasparious minutes? Because now you got Drew Smith, you got DaVon Mitchell, you got Terry, Terry Rosier, Casperius, you got four point guards on the roster. So now they’re all going to be competing and you know what Spo’s going to do? He’s going to go with the player that he’s more comfortable with. So I think this is more of a loss to Kasparius than everything. Now, I will say Drew Smith did finish off, well, not finish. He did start the season. Okay. You know, he’s doing his job, but this is a commitment and I’m interested to see more details of the contract, but I don’t know, man. This front offense is just really, really bad. Like, feel like it’s getting worse and worse. Like, if this was the follow-up move after letting Haywood Highmith go and giving a second round pick, it’s kind of hell. Be honest with you. I’m glad that, you know, for a player like Drew Smith who dealt with all these injuries, he got a long-term deal, making $8 million in a three-year deal.   26. I knew they were going to do this and they still can sign a big man. They had enough wings and I don’t think it’s that bad. Dru was a better Defender and catch & shoot player. Let it play out though, I could be wrong but I actually think Dru will come in big for us late in the season and more likely the playoffs.

  31. He was starting to breakout before the injury. But like they say you’re never the same player coming back from an injury like that. So I’m 50/50 it.
