These are the guys, they expect to step up in a big way in big games. And today we have Max Fried on the mound who a lot of people thought could have started the All Star game. Top two for Cy Young for sure. But in the last seven starts, two and three with a six, a 156 whip. And just like you said about Aaron Judge, if the Yankees are going to get back into this thing, they need their ace pitcher to pitch like the ace that he, that he is, give me a sense of Sonny Gray for Saint Louis who steps into a big spot yet again. Yeah. And Sonny Gray number one pitcher for the Cardinals and if they’re going to get back into it, they need the guy who is a straight winner. This team is 18 and six this year when Sonny Gray is on the mound that’s tied for Tarik Skubal and the Detroit Tigers, he is a stud and when he’s on the mound, they win. So the Yankees have hit a little bit of a skid offensively since the All Star break, but they’re still one of the top three scoring offenses in all the bases. Bham towards right. That’s pass Donovan, that’s the second baseman. I should say the right field for it. Now, I talked to Sonny before the game yesterday and I said, what, what fires you up about pitching against the Yankees? He said, man, this big broadcast , big time team, he was fired up about this matchup. I’ll tell you what. He’s not fired up about aaron Judge with 1st and 2nd and nobody out in the first inning. A Grisham single a Rice walk and now judge with two men on base strength on strength in this matchup coming up. So Gray’s best pitch in his arsenal. That was that great sweeper. He’s got more sweeper outs than anybody in the big leagues. But that’s aaron Judge’s specialty as far as breaking balls. First pitch is a breaking ball hit to left on the line. Fair ball. Yankees lead Grisham is in Rice is right behind him and Aaron Judge will drive home one. Rice will hold up at third and it’s one nothing New York in the first. Just as they did yesterday, they strike early. This is more of a cutter, a smaller breaking ball but didn’t do much, just didn’t do much. He was up and aaron Judge is ready for it. He’s had success with that cutter against Aaron Judge and, but he just leaves that up and you can tell when aaron starts driving that ball that’s away from him like that not pulling off of it. He’s very dangerous. The switch inning Jason Dominguez two on one out and that is through the left side of base hit Dominguez will drive Rice in and it’s 2 to 0 New York. So dominguez who had come into this series in a little bit of a mini slump has hits in each of the first two games and RBIs in each of the first two games of this set. Two nothing Yankees have the lead taking max Fried to an advantage as we get set for the bottom of the first inning on the ground to third picked up by Mcmahon and one win. Burleson has seven hits in his last 25 at bats zero for three last night. Cardinal first baseman who lifts it to left Dominguez started back in and misplays it corner here comes Burleson finally dug out by dominguez and three bases for Alec defensive miscues have been a dubious headline for the Yankee defense going back to last postseason. Those miscues a rear their ugly head here in the 1st 1st pitch swinging Yvonne Herrera, one of the Cardinals best hitters this year drives in Burles in and it’s a 21 ball game in the first no matter what happens with herrera out there on the bases. Now, that’s a huge run for the Cardinals to get back into this game. Makes a fastball. It’s a walk for Nolan Gorman to lead off this Cardinals. Second, the other way it goes Paez and that’s in the right field on to second base goes Gorman. So two on with one out against Fried here in the Cardinals. Second, a couple of men aboard runs it 1st and 2nd. Victor scott, the second left hand hitting center fielder will step to the plate and here comes Norman and this game is tied back to back nights for victor Scott with an RB I and this game is tied at two. So the Cardinals taking advantage of some max Reed strikes over the plate back to the top of the order and Mason win 1st and 2nd and still only one out in the air field pushes one towards the pole with a, as you said, not the same max we saw in the first half. Everything is up, can’t get the pitches down for some reason, a four spot in the second for ST Louis to jump out in front of Max Reed. Sonny Gray works with the lead for the first time and he faces aaron Judge swings at the first deep right center along the track eight, but it’s gone. Aaron Judge first pitch swinging on both attempts at the plate. A double and now a solo home run. That’s his first career home run against the Cardinals. He had homer I believe against every other team except the Cardinals. That’s another great swing by aaron Judge when he’s covering the ball and hit the ball to right center like that. He’s back, followed by a base hit for Grisham and the Yankees are threatening 1st and 3rd with only one out in the top of the fourth, Then Rice at the plate. That’s one thing. But you’ve got aaron Judge on deck. That’s another, you have to attack this hitter and Aaron Judge is such a game changer, you cannot allow him to beat you no matter what. This is a shot from Ben Rice and this game has flipped the Yankees take the lead. It speaks to what you guys are saying. Judge is such a focus. These other guys need to step up Rice just did to give the Yankees the advantage we mentioned Kyle Lee. He has been very good in this new look. ST Louis bullpen is not allowed a run in six of his last seven outings did give up a run in a loss to Colorado on Wednesday. But a guy with a pretty deep arsenal has been used a lot this year. Base hit right center field for Wells who’s been mired in a five for 52 skid. He’s happy to get some solid contact in the leadoff man on base hard hit towards third. That’s off the glove of Gorman that’s in the left field on to second base goes Wells and it’s a knock for Caballero. So the eight and nine hitters for the Yankees able to get a board and turn it over to Grisham with runners on base and pitt swing on and into center field base hit Wells will get the stop sign that loads him up and there’s nowhere to put Ben Rice bases loaded. Nobody out here in the top of the sixth towards right center field well struck ball towards the gap. It is back, it is off the bottom of the fence. Wells is in cro is coming home, Briss right behind him. Rice clears the bag, a six army and it’s a three run New York lead after giving up a run in the first and four in the second free has put up zeros the last three innings and over the last three innings, he is allowed a hit by Pedro. That’s it in the air to right center Grisham was shaded in that direction that’s over his head. He’s got it first hit of the series for Jordan Walker. It’s an extra bag. There is Cardinals are, it’s a two run game of the six. He hung a breaking ball and paid the price. Seven earned runs. It’s the most threes allowed all year to the late innings. We go. It is ryan Mcmahon leading things off payoff. Pitch to Mcmahon and a breaking ball lifted to right backing on it is walker that ball still carrying all the way back to the wall and it’s off the top of the fence. They’re going to call it a home run. Speaking of the pop, ryan Mcmahon drills one and that ball just kept on going. It’s a 10 to 7 ball game. Rice has driven in six tonight. He is at the plate with runners at the corners and one out towards right center field. That one is going to get down and it’s going to be a seven RB I night for Ben Rice extends the Yankee lead to four again and Ben Rice is having a huge night with AJ Pierzynski in the House again and all from third Grisham , he will score and it’s a 12 to 7. Yankee lead Chisholm drives in a run his third of the series. Pedro is two out of three tonight with a run scored drills it and that is long gone. That will help the pavilion there. What a shot by pedro Paez. Oh heater in kind of middle in pas got it, knew it. He got a nice trotter on the pillows. Another homegrown talent sixth round pick in 2019 but Benard just needs one out. The tying run is on deck, Herrera pops it up. Wells, has it and the Yankees have the series. They hold on. Bednar gets the one out. Save back to back nights that he has finished off the game for the Yankees. And New York takes the series in a match with the two teams with the most world series championships. Four straight losses for ST Louis back to back wins for the Yankees.
