Marlins vs. Red Sox Game Highlights (8/16/25) | MLB Highlights

the Jiren Duran lookalike contest earlier today. I mean, he had a hat that I wear, the camel one. So, I mean, I got to give it to him, man. It was pretty good. He even had the jeans and Vans. I’m like, he did some pretty good research. I had to tip my cap to that. Red Sox take into the diamond. Brian Beo 8 and six. Erra at 3.25, making his 21st start of the season in play to the right side. Gobbled up by Sodan Raphael. back in second here this afternoon. One pitch, one out. And flying into center field. Durant backing up. All the way to the edge of the track to take that in. Two down. Grounded up the middle over the bag. Stopped up by Sadon. And he gets him. They a couple of ground balls. Gets him. One, two, three. Calantrol starting for the Marlins this afternoon. 30-year-old right-hander. 24th start of the season and his sixth career start against the Red Sox. Roman Anthony to start it. Tags this one right away. He rips it into right. Marcy to cut it on the track and he’s going to hold him to one. That was tattooed. That’ll bring up Alex Bregman on the hold. Swinging a high pop up into left and Hernandez to make that catch. One away. Here’s Jiren Durant. There goes Anthony. Here’s the throw down to second. The tag. Not in time. Roman with a theft. There’s a swing and a miss that time. Durant went around two outs. Anthony at second after a single and a stolen base. Here’s Trevor Story. Little number toward third. Charging that Paulie. He’ll glove it and he’ll stick in his back pocket. Throw it back to third, but Anthony too good a base runner. They’re going to be safe on the corners. That’ll be a base hit for Trevor Story. Yoshida hitting 260 with a pair of home runs. Trevor takes off running. The pitch is a strike. The throw not in time. They threw down there, but no chance to get Story, who’s now 22 for 22 in stolen bases this year. So now two men out there in scoring position. Sharply hit base hit into right field. Anony’s in. Here comes Story. Marcy’s throw. He stays up and he’s in. Both runs score. It is two to nothing. And a quick start for the Red Sox here this afternoon. Red Sox using their athleticism and their speed here. Brian Bao back out there for the top of the second inning and it’s to the whole story throwing and got him. Outstanding effort by Trevor Story. My goodness. One down in the second. I mean just a short stop on shortstop crime right here. This ball’s hit hard in the six hole. He doesn’t even think twice about it. Soon as this ball’s hit, he knows he’s going to the jump throw. Hits the webbing. One step jump throw on the money. My goodness. Set this place on fire. Trevor Story. That’s as good a play as you can make. What a start to this game he’s had. Slow roller. Tough play. Gonzalez can’t feel it cleanly. That’s a play that Gonzalez probably should have made. So an E3 and here comes Erieberto Hernandez. Round ball. Here’s Bregman has started in second. That’s one of side retired. Red Sox clean up the error very quickly. Two to nothing. Bottom three. Red Sox go to the top of the order. Anthony Bregman and Durant against Quantrol. And another base hit from Roman Anthony out into the alley. He wants second. He’ll throw. He’s going to be late. And he hustles in for a double. He took the turn very sharply and smartly. And he’s got two hits today. This kid’s pretty good at this whole baseball thing, isn’t he? 21 years old. A double and a ball four. And the Socks in business here in the third. Men on the corners for Jiren Durant. Memorably, the Red Sox faced this guy Quantrol at Kors Field last July when the benches cleared. He had some words. Quantrol did for catcher Reese Maguire. There’s history with this guy and the Socks. Here’s Jiren Durant, one of those who was particularly agitated. He’s been thinking about this at bat for a long time. Fly ball well struck right field. Mary’s going back. It’s over. It slams into the wall. Anthony is in. It’s two bases for Durant. And he almost hit it out of here. Red Sox ahead three nothing for him. That hit felt very good off of Quantrol. Here now is Story. Second and third. Nobody up. Swinging a high fly into left field. That one driven back toward the wall. That’s back there. And that ball is gone. Home run. Trevor Story. A threerun shot. Trevor Story is having some weekend. When you’re hot, you’re hot. And all Red Sox here. Six to nothing in the third. There’s Maso gave him their first two runs. Here’s a ball in the air to right and deep. Marcy’s going back and he’s got it. What a nice play by Jacob Marcy. I think he just took a homer away from Yosha. There’s no give in that padding on those walls. Breu hammers one out to right field. On the move, Marcy dives and Marcy makes the catch. A fullfledged dive to his backhand. took him onto the warning track near Pesky’s pole and he made the grab to take extra bases away from William Abrau. Problem is damage done. Four across on a double from Duran and a three-run shot from Story. Down to third Son Raphaela with two gone. So it’ll be Alex Bregman’s turn. He walked and scored a run in the third. Ground ball up the middle and threw for a base hit. Sadon will score. Bregman his first hit today. Seven to nothing Boston. Duran looking to keep it rolling and that’s going to drill him. You could see that little look that Duran was giving Quantrol out there. You could see that look, that little smirk like, “Okay, bud.” Kind of felt like you knew you were at the end of your outing and you tried to come in tight. When Duran’s looking out there, he did say, “My bad.” All right. Otherwise, Durant might have had a little different reaction to that. That’s going to do it for Cal Quantrol. Revenge exacted. Here’s Troy Johnston. Troy has the only hit against Beo to this point. Lifted in the air to right field. This is hit pretty deep. Abrau’s going back and it’s gone. Troy Johnson with his first ever major league home run. And the Marlins are on the board. Congratulations, Troy. And they throw it back. How about that? And he’s going to get that first home run ball. Brian Beo is back out for his seventh inning of work. And he’s facing Augustine Ramirez. Augustine hits one high in the air out to left and deep. That is monster bound and gone. That went over the monster and over the Eliante heart. Augustine Ramirez with a monster blast. It’s homer number 18 on the year. He had the second homer for the fish. It’s 7-2 Red Sox in the top of the seventh. Things have completely unraveled on him here. A homer, a single, and a hit batter. And now a fiveun lead is sort of in peril with two on and none out. And a little dribbler toward third. Bregman with a bare hand throws. Got him. That barehand play his specialty. He does that with anybody. Runners do advance to second and third. One down. And here comes Alex Cora. He’s going to take the ball away from Beao. 78 pitches. Home run base hit and hit by pitch in this inning. So he’s done for the day. Gives way to the lefty. And Dane Meyers is going to come up and hit for Johnston with only one away. Second and third. Miami trying to get back in the game. Swung on and foul. Tipped to the net. Struck him out. Wilson who was so good last night. Gets a strike out here. Two away. So here is Derek Hill. Make it bad right here. That’ll be popped up. Foul off first. Roi moving over. Still moving and he’ll make the play. For a moment it looked like it was going to be up into the net, but it stayed in. Wilson continues to do really good work. Red Sox lead by five here in the ninth. Isaiah Campbell out of the bullpen. On to third. Ramirez. But now the Red Sox are one out away from victory. And the Marlins are down to their final out. That is ripped into right field. Down for a two-out base hit. An RBI two out base knock for Erie Berto. It’s seven to three now. Flies this one deep towards left center field. Durant’s going back. Still going back. He’s at the wall. Leaps and he can’t get it. Extra bases for Eric Wagaman. Hernandez will score all the way from first. The Marlins have scored twice with two out here in the ninth. And now things are getting a little bit more interesting in a game that was seven to two five minutes ago and on the verge of ending. And now they’ve got a runner at third with two down. Chapman’s just starting to warm up. Not ready yet. Bring up Derek Hill. And Hill shoots one into right field for a base hit. It’s a three-run ninth inning for Miami. And the tying run is coming to the plate. Few hits in a row. Here we are. Two-run game. Not what Alex Cora wanted to do. Fiveun lead down to two in the ninth. The Miami Marlins have forced Araldis Chapman into this ball game here in the top of the ninth. Hill at first and Sonoha at the dish. Little ground ball charged by Story. Trevor up and over. Got him. And that’s a win. Red Sox with another W at Fenway. Seven to five the final score. They have taken the series. tomorrow with the ace on the mound.

  1. Attention BoSox fans, if you're attending tomorrow afternoon's game. Please do all of the following:
    1. Wear a ball cap ๐Ÿงข
    2. Wear a shirt that's BoSox related
    3. Take the MBTA's ๐ŸŸข line to Kenmore station
    4. Arrive early
    5. If you're sitting next to any Marlins fans, please be polite and friendly
    6. Sing along to "Sweet Caroline" as loud as you can when it plays over the loudspeakers
    7. If the BoSox win, don't leave until "Dirty Water" ends
    8. Cheer your heart out

  2. BOS continues to roll. Trading away one of their best player (Devers) and still competing at a high level. More than likely a playoff spot. Congratulations on the win. ๐Ÿ‘

  3. Good win again for the Red Sox got a little tense at the end but still won reguardless honestly should've just used Chapman the whole inning instead of whoever we used cause it made the game closer and idc Red Sox should still use their main closer even if their up by 20 runs just saying better then to risk anything really.
