Rays vs. Giants Game Highlights (8/16/25) | MLB Highlights
The Giants who are just having about as bad of a stretch as they’ve had in a long time and especially here at home, they really, really need a win. Well, look, everybody’s feeling it right now, especially at home. Um, you lose games and you lose multiple games and you lose them in different fashions. It’s not a great feeling, but I think we take the field every day in good spirits. Um, and you got to do it again the next day. Unfortunately, on the hill tonight for the Giants will be the 20 year veteran Justin Verlander, his record on the year one and nine with a 453, er , a change up dribbled back to the mound. Verlander comes down off the mound a little bit to first and doesn’t waste any time turning to throw to first to get the very fast. Chandler Simpson should be, well , at least a single maybe extra bases. Diaz will hold as Elliott Ramos did a very good job to cut it off and will gladly take the base hit. There’s a swinging strike three slider in the dirt as a ground ball hit to third goes through the legs of the third baseman. No play for christian Carson runners at 1st and 2nd on what should be an error. He struck him out. The slider down gets two strikeouts in the inning. Two men left taking them out tonight making his third start as a member of the Rays is right hander, Adrian Houser swing and there’s a pop fly second baseman low into shallow right now. The wind carries it away from him and he can’t get it. That ball just carried an extra 15 or 20 ft and ends up as a pop fly single. They can make up for it with one and with 2543, double play and not only can brandon now track the pop ups. Normally he can really turn a double play started by junior. Here’s Bob Seymour, the rookie, the break ball for Verlander for 20 years has been that slider because of his angle and it’s a straight down bite effective both against righties and lefties swing and a miss, he struck him out. Fourth strikeout for Verlander. 265 goes the other way. It’s down the line, it’s starting to carry and it’s off. The brick is going to jog into second with a double thing we’ve learned about chris is he’s got a nice approach to the right side of the field right at the edge against the straight three of Fitzgerald and the Giants. Nick Forte started the game winning rally in the ninth yesterday, 32, a high towering fly ball down the left field line, Ramos long way to go, still coming over and he will get there and make the catch in foul territory. Ramos was playing way off the line and he covered a lot of ground sprinting over and Then right up against that side walls strikes out swing curveball from Verlander well thrown. That’s his fifth strikeout already. Here’s a swing and a ground ball to short. Adam has it winds up, throws to first in time and a nice 123 inning fastball from Houser takes care of Devers who struck out four times yesterday. Just a challenge. Fastball. That’s not part of Adrian House game. He’s the two seam guy, but he just rares back right there and just overpowers Devers right through the zone check swing called strike three and adam is down on strikes and two punch outs for Houser. Now, a liner into right field base hit Tom smith not waiting around first pitch swing and he gets the third Giants hit of the game. A solid line drive single into right jungle pulls one into right field base hit. He goes after the first pitch from Lee is aboard back to back two out singles for the Giants two on two out swing. A groundball slowly hit past the mound to short Kim’s got it on the run first and a nice job by Houser to work around a couple of two out hits and pitch a scoreless fourth inning, no runs , four hits and one error for the giants Verlander retired 10 in a row since that error strike three called strikeout number seven for he made short work of kim that buckle the knees of kim and dropped right in there, just lowered it right down at the bottom of the strike out. Almost in the dirt gets three pitched swing and there’s a high pop up foul near home plate and Kisner makes the catch to the right of home plate inning over the Giants back in June as a member of the White Sox and he threw seven shutout innings so they have not been able to figure him out. Now, a pop up back of third going down the line is now he loses it. He hits off his glove and falls away, picked up there by the shortstop alongside and thrown into second too late. Kisner makes it into second and Hauser gets through it regardless. Beautifully done by Adrian Hauser. He’s matching Verlander this game still scoreless through five. Here’s the number nine hitter, Nick Fortes and he hits a high fly ball to left for Ramos one pitch, one out ground ball hit toward the middle far to his left. Adam has a jump pivot one hop throw to first in time. Handled chest Devers for the put out nicely done. Well, the rays bring in Mason Montgomery, Adrian Houser five innings of four hit shutout. Baseball. No walk, six K nice swing and he hits a bloop in the shallow left center that’s fall in there base hit. He has a board with the fifth Giants hit with one out in the sixth inning, all four a hit and a walk plus a steal in the middle. And it’s two on one out for Jung in the air, right center field chasing after Mangum and makes a sliding catch at the warning track up in the area. They refer to as triples alley and you can see why, but Mangum ran it down just barely and it sets up 1st and 3rd, 1st and 3rd with two out USDA will come on to face Christian cause has done well in the chances he’s had with runners in scoring position. Round one into left field base hit and that brings home the first run of the game to score one to Giants. Verlander has been terrific. He has struck out eight. So here he is in the seventh inning and after striking out the first two times best Verlander, the Giants have the bullpen going here’s a ground ball to second. Fitzgerald charges has it. Second one and no throw made Fitzgerald did not make a very good exchange there. That one is hit to right field, moving back. Mcrae squares reaches up, makes the catch and the side is retired. Who knows if that’s it for Verlander. This has been his best start in the Giants uniform man as he fits. Well, the new pitcher for the Giants appearance number 40 on the year for it hits him way inside with the breaking ball and he got for strike two to be ball four. He said it’s been a pretty big zone tonight that was down, you know, it’s down and I saying, stop it and kevin is fired up and he might not be long for it , that ball again. It’s below the zone. You said it’s been a big zone all night. And this also is a little gamesmanship. Maybe he gets out of his game ends up being a base hit. Could this be one of those games where, you know, Justin Verlander, it’s either been, they haven’t scored enough for him or the bullpen has let him down. And this could be one of those games where the rays find a way the last couple of innings to get to the bullpen into right center field for a base hit. It ties the game. Yandy Diaz delivers late once again and it’s 1 to 1 in the eighth and once again, the bullpen cannot save it. Lou against games to left field on the race, take their first lead of the game. That’s kind of how it’s gone this year for Justin. He’s given a lead to the bullpen a bunch this year. They haven’t been able to cash it in for him and who you would expect Pete on the mound to try to get this thing to the finish line. Lee cost Fitzgerald swing down the right line that’s going to get down on the tying run aboard and the winning run coming into the play and there he goes, strike three into center field. He holds it second. Yesterday, there were two out with a man at third and he was able to get out of it. Struck him out. The rays have won it in San francisco. The rays have won the series with a chance to sweep tomorrow.

😻🤩😱🦆 ,, KEEP THEM PAY CHECKS ,, COOOMONGggg
Just let Justin pitch 2 more innings. With how efficient he was it won't hurt
Houser pitched pretty well.
Simpson, Yandy and B Lowe coming through with timely hitting.
Looking forward to seeing Seymour get his first hit and start getting more comfortable at the plate.
I truly believe he can be a formidable bat.
One game at a time Rays.
Glad we got the win but Cash needs to stop making these bad decisions
Giants fans need to go watch a's,at least they score.cosey park
Tbe Giants just Don't have good players other than Ramos and Devers in which they probably shouldn't have traded for.
Melvin sounds utterly clueless in that interview. You don't talk about "high spirits" during a massive losing streak. You don't use words like "unfortunately" that make the situation seem outside your control. At least pretend have a plan. At least PRETEND that anyone in the locker room cares. It turns my stomach seeing these underachieving millionaires grinning on the field while their fans burn money to attend games.
😢 it's crazy and sad that the SF GIANTS can get any momentum when they play at home 😢
Devers would have been on second base on that first inning blooper if he had hustled, thus avoiding the ensuing double play. This is one example of why they’re losing every game.
Worse home stretch/string of games in over 100 years. If Melvin is employed by October the Giants aren't serious about trying to rebuild a contender. Melatonin failed in SD with that lineup and now he's managed the Giants into complete mediocrity.
Fire Melvin, ideally tomorrow, not October. Give the fans something to cheers about.
Goodbye NorCal team🏳️👋
The first half of the season was smoke and mirrors. This team is just awful. You have Verlander on the mound dominating and throwing his best stuff. Give the man 6 more outs. Giants looking at 75 wins, tops.
Giants manager sounds like he hates his job. Sounds like he wants a bunch of days off. Saying unfortunately was a bad thing to say.
"wE wOn sPrInG tRaInInG"
Сейчас проиграть Тампе большая неудача…!
Verlander 1-9 now has a lower ERA (4.25) than Sonny Gray (4.30) who is 11-6 for an equally mediocre team. Go figure.
Justin Verlander is still dominant and seasoned.
You have to feel Sorry for Verlander this year!!
the reason the giants keep loosing at home is because they display a pro fgot banner on the right field outfield wall
Now everyone understands why we got rid of fatboy? He doesn't have it,he's a cancer , immature and not a team player. Red Sox did the right move by getting rid of that bum 😂 san Francisco were the only fools who took on that ridiculous cont for this bag of useless flesh😂 but don't worry giants fans, you have 10 more years of fatboy left😂
I remember giants fans mocking us red Sox fans and the Sox organization for trading Fatboy to san Francisco 😂 I wanna see what giant fans have to say now?
The Tampa Bay Rays are 61-62🔵⚪️🟡🐟☀️🏝️
Let’s go Rays
Besbol🇺🇲⚾️
This is house cleaning time, from the Mgr. Down, I'm 82 yrs. Old, GIANT FAN SINCE 1954, WITH ALL Their ups and downs, I've never seen this level of poor baseball, I'll always love them, but I have to be honest, right now they STINK, no other way to call it🫣🤔🫣🤫🤔
5:19 June Swoon Lee finally makes solid contact and pimps it out of the batters box, ill-fitting helmet and all. Nothing but another out and the worst backswing in the MLB. He is a shame to the black & orange
7:51 if your helmet fit maybe you would have been able to notice the ball was not caught.
The Giants don't need to try to loose, they do that very well. They need to learn how to win
The Rafael Devers curse. As soon as he left Boston, it was like someone lifted the anchor off of the Sox’s morale. Good riddance.
