Let’s do it with this matchup between the Athletics and the Angels. For the Athletics, it’s Jeffrey Springs listed as the starter in this one, while the Angels will counter with Jose Soraniano. And this is an interesting matchup for me because Jeffrey Springs has been one of those pitchers that is very, you know, mercurial and very polarizing in the sense that his results are polarizing. You could see Springs come out and throw six innings of one-run ball and back-to-back starts like he did against the Mariners in the Nationals or come out at home like he did last time out against the Tampa Bay Rays. Three and a third innings of four run ball with seven with seven hits allowed and only two strikeouts. So, it’s it’s like I said, it’s which version of Jeffrey Springs are you going to get on a nighttoight basis? And at home, don’t know if I love this version of Jeffrey Springs. Now, yeah, he has had some solid outings at home. And he’s fully capable of coming out and tossing a strong start. He’s got a 4.35 erra at home at Sutter Health Park this season, which isn’t too shabby considering how hitter friendly that ballpark in Sacramento has been. But I, like I said, I still worry about him in this matchup just cuz I don’t think he’s going to have a perfect start here. You know, the the uh the Angels in the last two weeks against left-handed pitching have been around league average and team OPS. The batting average hasn’t been great. It’s around 194, but they have a skyhigh 16% walk rate. And Springs hasn’t been a guy that walks many batters, but this is an Angel sign that is capable of taking patient at bats. I think that they could uh, you know, could have a, you know, a bit of a bumpy road here or at least u give strings a bit of a bumpy road to work through. On the other side, they got Jose Soraniano who has been much better on the road this season. And the thing about Soraniano though is that four his last four starts and six of his last seven starts have all been at home where he has struggled mightily at times this season. But he did go have a quality start at this same ballpark in Sacramento in a game earlier this season as part of his 6-2 record. A 2.480 RA for Sorano on the road this season. And it was a win for the Angels. Six innings of three-run ball. He did give up four walks, but this is an Angels lineup that, you know, has owned the athletics for much of the season. And we’ll have to see how Saturday’s matchup goes, but I said Soriana looked good in that start back on June 10th. It ended up uh excuse me, on May 19th, pardon me. It ended up being a 4-3 win for the Angels. I think something similar could be in store here. The Angels entering Saturday are still 7-1 against the Athletics this season. And I think that there are going to be spots where you can back the A’s the rest of the way. Hell knows I’ Lord knows I’ve been doing it, but I think this is an angel spot here with Soraniano and I think he just gets the better of Springs and the uh the athletics here. So, I’m going to roll with the Angels at the coin flip price and that’s going to be my free pick.
