PADRES POSTCAST: San Diego PADRES DROP FINALE 5-4, Swept By LA Dodgers, FALL 2 GAMES BACK IN NL WEST

The San Diego Padres came all the way back from a 4-r0 deficit to tie the game in the top of the 8th inning, but Robert Suarez gave up a home run to Mookie Betts in the bottom half, and the LA Dodgers came away with the 5-4 to complete the 3-game sweep and take a 2-game lead over the Padres in the NL West.

The Padres out-hit the Dodgers for the 2nd straight game, but they went just 2-14 with runners in scoring position as they were unable to beat the Dodgers’ reeling bullpen at all in this series.

  4. Padres don't have swagger. Sometimes it looks as if they are not playing hard and no identity. I think they should trade Tatis because he's clearly not the player he was a few years ago and can't close out close games against the Dodgers.

  6. Didn’t Javier say this was a super team? lol.. Dodgers will always find the way to beat the Madres.. Machada always crying, maybe if he would stop crying for every strike call you guys would win.

  10. Pitching didn’t help having to come back each game. Hurt even more to not capitalize when we had early chances. Thanks for the recap.

  15. Padres no longer needs the dodgers to spank the choke out of them, they do it themselves…Machado has more whips than the dodgers have world series appearances 😂😂

    But the coaching staff has to take some responsibility for not anticipating the mistakes Fermin is making that are costing the Padres games.
    Most fans are going to blame Suarez for giving up that homer to Mookie but I heap a considerable amount of blame on Fermin for that, too. When Suarez missed on those first two pitches to Mookie, Fermin had to understand the game situation and call a mound visit immediately to make it clear with Suarez whether to continue to try to get Mookie out or just walk him, after all the bases were empty and if Betts was walked, you could still go after Will Smith, Freddie Freeman and the two behind in the lineup. Suarez really needed to be on the same page with Fermin at that point, whether it was better to give up on Mookie and go on to the next batter or keep trying to get Mookie out but now down a couple balls.

    Instead, it looks like Suarez felt to get Mookie out, he had to throw a clear strike which was near the heart of the zone and Mookie was waiting for it.

    This is the second time I question Fermin's preparation, feel for the situation and judgement that failed and contributed mightily to the loss of the game.
    The first time was the first time Fermin caught Vasquez and Estrada was brought in to pitch in relief. Fermin continued to call pitches as though Vasquez was still pitching and I think it was six pitches later Estrada still had not thrown a single fastball of any type and gave up the game winning homer. Of course Vasquez's repertoire is completely different than Estrada's and Estrada should have been pitching mostly fastballs with splitters mixed in.

    IMO this is intolerable.
    No matter how well Fermin is hitting, the Padres have won based on playing smart baseball and minimizing mistakes and IMO Fermin has been a big part of at least 2 losses.
