Rangers vs. Blue Jays Game Highlights (8/17/25) | MLB Highlights

Barrios is having another silent season. He’s nine and four with a 374. Er, a, the interesting note for me is the Blue Jays have won 12 of his last 14 stunts got it. Strikes out his first batter of the afternoon. The slur and picks up the first strike out. I got Wyatt Rangers have their first baserunner, step off throw to first and they got him. Jose Barrios picks off Wyatt Langford two outs in the inning. Right on cue shows that athleticism quick feet, a perfect throw, 32 to see grounded to the right side of the infield, flat ranges back hands, flips it back to Barrios who underhand patches it and steps on the bag to end the inning. Always good. When you have Nathan EDI out there, the 35 year old veteran making his 21st start of the year. He’s 10 and three. He has the lowest, er, a in franchise history through 20 games with a 171, a with two outs. Here’s Guerrero getting his first look today at Eovaldi and he has had a lot of success against Nathan Eovaldi. That is over the head of cody freeman at third and into left field. It will be a two out base hit for guerrero. Here’s a drive deep into right Smith, going back back pedaling on the track, he makes the catch to get bat for the final out. No runs hit. J leave a man. We go to the second now, Marcus Semien heading out of the sixth spot in the lineup today. The Rangers just happy to have him back in there at all and he hits his ball hard out to left field. That was a on 15th home run of the year for Marcus Simeon and he gives the Rangers a two nothing lead. It’s also now an even 800 career RBIs for Marcus. Congratulations Marcus. You’re just too marvelous, too marvelous for words, Alejandro Kirk first pitch swinging fly ball deep left field, it is gone. Second home run of the series and the Blue Jays are on the board. You talk about John Snyder and everybody thought, well, Sunday Kirky will catch up to play two games in this series, but he is so hard and he hits so well against Nathan Eovaldi, his ninth home run of the season, as we mentioned, Eovaldi gave up three homers in his last start against Arizona. That’s just the ninth home run he surrendered all season long but the Blue Jays are back in it. Jonah. He leading off the top of the third with Josh Smith and White Langford to follow one the other way down the line on his way to second. He is safe. What a good throw. Nathan Lucas has really thrown the ball well, from the outfit, he’s got six outs and I thought he had nailed Jonah and the Blue Jays buck are going to challenge this. Oh, he lost contact with the base. His hand came off the base as Jimenez has tagged him on the shoulder after he knew the call is overturned runner out. And now here’s the home run hitter, former Toronto Blue Jay Marcus, this one down the right field line and that’s a fair ball into the corner and takes a weird hop on Barger and Semien has a two out aa big day for Marcus back in there with a home run and the AA two out double. Here’s jake Berger Berger, a powerful right handed hitter and he shoots that through the right side. That’s a base hit. Here comes Simon Barger has a great arm. It’s throw not in time. Simon scores. Berger delivers the two out RB I and the Rangers lead it 3 to 1. What a great job of hitting you foul off the tough one and Then you get one that’s not as good and you shorten up your swing and that ball is driven up the alley in right center. A base knock, it goes all the way to the warning track. Berger hits the bag at third. Tony Beasley has the stop sign out. It’s a double for Cody freeman. Rangers have been at 2nd and 3rd now and that brings up Jonah, he so a 31 Texas lead base hit could make it 5 to 1 here and a bouncer up the middle and that one’s through. It does play both runs and Jonah Heim with a two out single his second hit of the game and he makes it 5 to 1. Rangers, two strikes, two outs. Cody Freeman comes through and now Jonah Heim on the change up comes through, lifted out to right, very deep. Moving back. Barger turns at the fence, it’s off the top of the wall coming around to third base and stopping there, he throw to second. Smith is thrown out by Addison Barger to end the inning. Second outfield assist to the game for the Blue Jays as Barger limits smith to a single ball, he is grounded to first and fly down to deep center and again, still in search of his first hit in this series. This pitch is lifted high into the air, deep left field Lucas going back into the corner this ball carrying. Well, it’s gone opposite field home run for Corey Seager. It’s his 18th of the year to lead the ball club and that adds to the advantage. It’s 61 Texas. Do you think that one was going out? I didn’t. Yeah, I definitely didn’t, but corey has unique opposite field power and a part of the reason I didn’t think that was going out , we usually don’t see balls shaped like that off the bat from a lefty leave the yard, but corey is able to do unique things and that is going to be all for Barrios this afternoon. He will wind up surrendering six runs and Eovaldi in efficient 52 pitches through four innings, a swing and a foul tip caught by Jonah. He got him with the sinker. There. 123 go. The Jays now two outs in the top of the sixth. Langford hammered down the left field line that is gone. Langford with an upper deck shot to left a two run blast and the Rangers just keep circling the bases this afternoon. It is 8 to 1. There was no doubt that that was going to get over the fence. It was only if it was going to stay fair. So Nathan Eovaldi back to work with a seven run cushion and big game. Nate takes form in many different ways. 32 pitch and a swing and a Miss Barger strikes out and Eovaldi, he didn’t really much care about nutmeg or any of that. He just lowing guys down right now. He’s rolling. Now, Guerrero sends the first pitch to deep left and it’s going to go into the second Guerrero jumping on one for his 21st home run on the season, second hit of the afternoon and he was trying to get ahead with that split finger pitch and left another one up in the zone. 322 outs payoff pitch, strike three called over the outside corner. He went with the splitter, he froze Varsho and the strikeout ends the inning. Eovaldi out for his seventh inning here. Pitch in the air to right center Carter over. So is Smith Carter makes the call on the catch and that ends the inning. So 123 frame, he is through seven. The new pitcher on for Bruce Bo and the Texas range left hand Hobie Milner and straw, a right handed hitter pinch hits in the spot of andres. This is popped up and it cannot be caught by Durant tried to make the over the shoulder catch and could not come up with it. And now George Springer zero for three, eight high left center field pretty deep outfielders in a jog. That ball is out of here. First one back for George Springer and his 19th homer of the season. The Blue Jays aren’t going out without a fight. They’ve made it 8 to 4 with that 434 ft Jack Corey Seager. He blasts one out to the alley left center field that’s down and up against the wall and Seeger can Cruz to second. He has a leadoff. Double Seeger gets to third. Here’s Evan Carter is zero for four that’s in the air deep out to right field. Does that one have a chance. It’s gone. Evan Carter with his clutch, a two run homer. The Rangers have had this year. Well, he gets those two runs back and the Rangers back in front by six. Not only did he get corey Seeger in, he got himself in with one swing of the bat. John Armstrong needs three more outs to ice this one away. There’s a strike out of straw Armstrong gets it done and the Rangers finish off a 10 4 win in the finale here in Toronto.
