Angels vs. A’s Game Highlights (8/17/25) | MLB Highlights

Just a gorgeous Sunday to finish off a home stand here on players weekend as the A’s and Angels square off for the final of three games. The A’s have taken the first two of this three game series looking to sweep an Angels team that’s had the green and gold number in 2020 five. Jeffrey Springs on the bump for his 24 th start of the season and for the left hander outside of his previous outing, which was against the Tampa Bay Rays, he had thrown together three quality starts. So for the lefty just looking for a little bounce back, looking to get himself back on track here against the Halos this afternoon. Neto leads it off for the Halos against Jeffery Springs and it is lifted to deep center field Butler moving back, slowing at the track to make the catch one pitch and one out and 2 67 10 homers. Here’s a ground ball sliding pick by her it to first off the glove of Kurtz and it’s a base hit for Shana who had three yesterday. Darrell somehow got to that baseball and made a strong throw to first, but it was just slightly in a one out in the inning and mike Trout will be the next batter. He struck him out there on a cutter, stayed away and Then worked him up top, getting his first strikeout. Word’s gone one for seven in the series. This one lined to the gap in right center field that gets down for a base hit. Butler tries to cut it off, gets to third base and he will hold. There’s in a good job by to fire at home. It’s a double for Ward, good swing 104 MPH. That means he centered it well, stayed on it. So runners at 2nd and 3rd and joe Adle will be the next batter with two outs and the Angels have not had a lead in this series but joe Adell trying to give them one cranks one to left and it’s gone a three run homer with two outs in the first, a good start on this Sunday afternoon de says hello on the day, game three run blast. Wow, what a shot 26 home run now , 75 RB. I si guess if we ask you shall receive. So the halos have the early lead and here’s O’hoppe fly ball to center but coming in losing his cap and on the run making the catch three runs in the first for the Angels Angels starter jose Soriano stick to a 30 lead before he throws his first pitch today and he will be facing Kurtz langeliers and Rooker the top three in the A’s lineup and it’s hit hard by Kurt but right at Netto up the middle, the Angels get a quick out swing and a miss by Langelier strike three knuckle curveball right there. And langeliers went down to a knee missing that pitch. That’s out. Number two, Brent Rooker will be the batter 10 line drive to left that will drop down for a hit, moving over to get it is Ward Rooker moving to second Ward misplayed it off the wall and Rooker has a two out double. He’s a double machine of Blake giving him 30 now for the year, Tyler Soderstrom has a 15 game hitting streak. Soderstrom swings on the first pitch. It’s off of Perez’s glove and leaks in the Rooker comes around to score and the A’s are on the board in the first. It’s 3 to 1. You got to hit a ball very hard, very hard to get it off a glove through a glove. It feels like that’s what happened to Pazza. That’s 100 and four miles an hour. Here’s butler that’s in their strike three called that one over the inside corner. And Soriano gets a strike out to end the first and Kurtz leads off here in the bottom of the third inning as the angels carry a 3 to 1 lead fly ball to left Ward retreating. He’s out of here. I can’t believe it on initial contact. I thought that that was going to be a fly out and it just kept going and going and going as the flags are blowing out to left. That’s just big Amish strike at its finest. Here is langeliers, deep, left center field game. Third Bangal bludgeoning the baseball. Well, we’ve got some action here to start the, that was 427 ft 107 off the bat. So the a go back to back Kurt and langeliers, it’s now a 33 ball game here in the third. Trout gets on. It’s a leadoff walk. That will be a ground rule. Double. Trout ends up having to stop at third on that one, but the Angels have runners at 2nd and 3rd trying to regain the lead and Ope is the batter with one out out, got him on a change up low and away. And this time O’hoppe does chase now two away. So now more the batter with two outs and the runners at 2nd and 3rd, there is a changeup poke to right. It’s a base hit for Moore. Trout comes in. Adele heads home blade throws a long dart as Adle scores and christian Moore clutch again, a two run single gives the Angels the lead. You talk about an incredible job of putting that ball in play. That is a great changeup off the plate, just punched it to right field. Look, how far that’s off the plate. The coverage he had on that one great job by Christian Moore to the bottom of the sixth Soriano still fishing for the Angels. The A come up and the A’s are trailing 5 to 3 but a drive to right balls had it blastoff 5 to 4, 417 ft 106.3 off the bat. His 17th home run of the season and Lawrence has a two hit performance. It’s a one run game Harris into second base with a two out double. That will be it for Mr Soriano. So breaking the action of pitching change, the left hander Brock Burke comes out of the bullpen to work for the Halos luis are coming up for the a a base hit. Ear has given Harris the windmill home Adele’s going to the plate is late five to five and Urias makes Burke pay immediately. Who understands in this moment right now, I’ve got a job to do if I can get a pitch away and I can drive it the other way. I just might be able to put a run on the board here. The Angels have not had a hit since the fifth inning. The A’s tied it up in the sixth and it’s been even ever since we see Kenley Jansen for the first time in this series, eight pitches to the hitters to Kurtz and so he missed with all of the left hand hitter leading off the pinch hitter. Now they’re loaded for first pitch is popped up and is chasing it. So is the catch and foul ground going a long way. Oh, Ho Lawrence Butler retired on one pitch there. We will hit to extra innings. Word gets the walk and the Angels have a pair on 1st and 3rd. Joe Adle will be the next batter line through a base hit for the Angels are back in front. He is the day dream believer. Today day games, what three hits , single, double home run, 44 RBIs for joe Adell 76 RB I of the year at 65 angels hanging slider. Another base hit well struck by Adele on a breaking ball. The sacrifice works 5 to 4 as Adele takes second ward third. So it’s now 2nd and 3rd 1 out for christian Moore. Here’s a tapper up the middle fielded by the shortstop throwing home. He got his foot in there. We had a perfect vantage point ward legs it out Hernes throw too late and a third RB I today for Moore makes it 7 to 5. Ben Bowden will take over here so rip up there with first and third. Here’s a fly ball to center struck. Well, Butler’s back for it. Still going. It’s over his head and it’s off the wall. Adele scores. Moore got a great read. He’s around third. He’ll come in. Rao’s at third base with a triple and the Angels are up 9 to 5. What a swing from R Ky covered that one to center. You mentioned it tremendous read by christian Moore to score on that easily. That’s sto do at the plate with rip at third and another fly ball. This one will score rif so the Angels open it up here. Five runs in the 10th inning that throw from Butler comes all the way in, but Rao is able to slide across as Teodosio gets the RB. I’s zack Neto, the shortstop. Here’s the 22 on Netto. He swings at this one and drives the ball deep out into left center field. You can kiss it goodbye out of here home run. It’s now 11 to five in favor of the Angels. Netto with home run number 21 of the season and the second one this weekend against the A’s, he gets a 22 fastball in her third , pulls his hands and he knows as soon as this makes contact that this ball is gone, there is Jose for me to close this one out. The Angels hit it well past the save chance for, for me, but he can still finish it up in his first game. Back. Fly ball to center field. Is there, say good night to the A it was one big 10th inning as the Angels exploded for six runs and they’re able to avoid a sweep here in Sacramento. They win it 11 to 5, a lot of chaos in that 10th inning for the Halos again, another victory in that extra innings. Angels get their ninth extra inning win this year tying Cleveland for the most in the major leagues.

  1. Knew the As would win two because this team doesn't know how to work with momentum… damn near were swept. Glad we won the World Series 6-0 against the Dodgers because be real guys… the slim Playoff hopes the Angels had were immediately ended with the first loss.. the second was the dagger. So good win, but ya needed to sweep.

  5. Everyone in the Angels lineup has at least a productive at bat.
    Except O'Hoppe. Again.
We might be regretting letting our former top catcher prospect Quero go who's now mashing .278 while switch hitting for the White Sox.

  6. This game sucked to watch but was great when extra innings happened and our angels actually started knowing how to play the game well. I donโ€™t see us bouncing back against the reds and cubs unless we treat them like we treated the dodgers and actually put our energy at a top notch but I doubt it
