GET UP | Louis Riddick “believes” Tua Tagovailoa will lead Miami Dolphins to Super Bowl this season!

It’s pretty good. It’s very good. I mean, I’m cramping. I don’t know how Jason does that with the voice. I am a died in the wool swifty. So, I mean, I’m I am definitely will be listening to that. She’s got the new album coming out. Not from Nashville. No. Reading, Pennsylvania. That’s right. And actually, the irony of it is in one of the songs she refers to the Eagles, which she confirmed in a concert in Philadelphia. She meant the football team, the Eagles, not the band, the Eagles. But then there she was rooting for the Chiefs against the Eagles at last year’s Super Bowls. If you don’t think I know the layers to this, then you don’t know me. Okay. Today is a very special day for Have you ever seen me make notes here today? Have you seen me doing that? Which hand I’m doing that with? Today is National Lefthanders Day, people. And so, in honor of that, I’ve put together a green list of the top five left-handed quarterbacks in NFL history because there have been very, very few. Number five is Mark Brunell, who had the longest career by a left-hander in NFL history. Most games played by a lefty. He led the expansion era Jaguars to the conference championship game in just his second year and his fifth year of existence and remains the Jags all-time leader in passing yards and passing touchdowns. He’s number five. Number four, Michael Vic. Only left-handed quarterback ever selected number one in the common draft. Made four Pro Bowls with two different franchises. First quarterback in history to rush for a thousand yards in a season. Obviously dynamic beyond words. He’s number four. Number three, Boomer Assasin. Sneaky excellent career. He had the most passing yards ever by a left-handed quarterback in NFL history. Most passing touchdowns by a left-handed quarterback. And people forget he was the league MVP in 1988, the year they went to the Super Bowl and lost a heartbreaker to John Taylor and the 49ers. Number two, the snake. Snake Ken Stabler was the first left-handed quarterback ever to be league MVP, which he was in 1974. First left-hander to start and win a Super Bowl, winningest left-hander in NFL history when you put everything together. And the number one is easy. Our longtime friend and colleague Steve Young, only lefty to win multiple MVPs, most total touchdowns by a lefty in NFL history, most Pro Bowl Pro Bowls by a lefty in NFL history. candidly on the short list with the great quarterbacks of all time. So there they are, the top five left-handed quarterbacks in NFL history. Why are you looking at me like that, Harry Douglas? Because I’m an atlian. So you think Michael Vic should have been hired? Nobody is going ahead of Michael Vic in Atlanta, Georgia. No one. Boomerson won MVP of the league that year. He went to the Super Bowl and was 30 seconds away from winning the Super Bowl. Had a longer career and threw more for more yards. I will admit I had a hard time. That was the tie that I had to break between Boomer and Vic at three and four. I will I will add I worked with Michael Vic the last several years over at Fox and his favorite player growing up. The player whose game he modeled was Steve Young. So I think you got it right there. Well, Steve Young is an easy number. Interestingly enough for me, I was in Philadelphia with Michael Vic when he launched the pass on Monday Night Football. I believe it was to Deshawn Jackson over Lauron Landry’s head. One of the greatest throws of all time. And I played against Mark Brunell at the height of his powers and he was ridiculous. And I played against Steve Young. He was unstoppable. That that’s a great list. It it really I mean I I can understand the debate there. Steve Young actually told me that the reason there are so few left-handed quarterbacks is that coaches are lazy and they don’t want to have to change everything they do. They literally have to reverse everything that they call and do because everything is designed to go one way. So that was Steve Young. Let’s then take this opportunity to talk about the two left-handed starting quarterbacks in the NFL this season. Let’s start with Tua Tunga Vioa. It’s been a fascinating career for him in Miami. Peter, what is at stake for Tua this season? A lot. I I I I think everyone was ready to get on board with Tua going into last year based on the strides they made the season beforehand. They got blown out in that playoff game in Kansas City. Then last year was a complete disaster. And yet there’s still hope. They still have Jaylen Wadd. We still have Tyreek Hill. They have defensive players coming back from injury in Phillips and Chub that are both stars. The Dolphins could be the team that we’re not talking about. And yet with an offensive head coach and all the money they’re paying him and all the money they’re paying Tyreek, if they fall short of the playoffs this year, I think everyone in Miami has to look in the mirror and say, “Is this really ever going to happen?” So, I think it’s a lot at stake for Tua. And whether that’s fair or not, you’re the quarterback making about $60 million. You’re the guy they’re going to be pointing to if it doesn’t happen. Yeah. I think in order to get more out of Tua, they have to ask Tua to do less. And I know that sounds counterintuitive, but look back at the first preseason game just a week ago. And look at what Mike McDaniel’s trying to do. He is trying to establish an identity for this football team, especially in short yardage type of situations by running the football, which is where he really made his name in the NFL. And here it is, their first first and goal situation in this game. They drive the ball down the field and they run the ball four consecutive times down here and they get stopped on fourth and goal. But I think Mike McDaniel was saying to himself, “Hey, look man, we have to kind of change how we go about this. We cannot consistently throw the football and put two in harm’s way, especially with an offensive line right now that is still in a state of flux. We need to take some of the pressure off of him. And I know with the with the salary comes a lot of expectations, especially when you’re talking about quarterbacks and when you’re talking about two in particular. But I think they’re trying to change their identity a little bit. And I think for good reason. And let me come to my friend from the ATL on Michael Penn. And what is the expectation for him in his second year in Atlanta? Well, Granny, number one, last year it was the burn call. This year it’s here comes the gunslinger. Here comes the gunslinger. Top three offense in the league. Michael Penn offense. Top three. They were like top six or seven in just about every category last season. But now you have a natural throw of the football that can make every single throw. Deep, short, intermediate, outside the numbers pinpoint accurate. Look at the skill position players. Look at the offensive line. It would not surprise me if the Atlanta Falcons are a top three offense in the lead last year. Why? Here comes the gunslinger. The gunslinger unlocked the tight end. Kyle Pittz, I was there at the draft. We were doing the draft. He was going to revolutionize the league and it just hasn’t come close to happening. Can they get that part of it figured out? Did he become a dominant player? It’s going to happen. Those guys are very, very close. They golf together. Uh, Michael Pennix Jr. first practice. What did he go to the podium and say, “I got Cal.” No. Wouldn’t been to the show. You wouldn’t know. Uh-oh. Haven’t been to the show, so you wouldn’t know what it is to win. All money ain’t good money, Jerry. Say it again. All money ain’t good money, Jerry. This was This was a performance in the literal sense of the word. And there was one moment in there that we didn’t have it where he said there’s box office and then there’s Oscars and Jerry knows box office but Denzel knows Oscars and it’s been a long time since we’ve seen Oscars in Dallas. The irony to all of this is that as they’re doing it on First Take and it’s flooding my timeline and I’m like, “Oh my gosh, Denzel’s like Jerry himself is on a red carpet in LA for a movie about him.” Right. Right. And everyone’s talking about this this this documentary about Jerry and like and and Jimmy Johnson had a had a tweet last night that I thought was actually amazing. Said Jerry is a master marketer and a Hall of Fame owner. Did not say winner. Did not say team builder. Master marketer is the most backhanded compliment you can give someone. And Jerry Jones is a master marketer. There’s of that there is no question. I just wanted you to hear Denzel. It it was extraordinarily powerful to watch. Coming up, what do all of these quarterbacks have in common? Up is called slump or jump quarterback edition. Harry, year three for CJ Strad. You expect him to slump or jump? I’m going to go jump. Greeny. You look at 2024. The offensive line was atrocious. CJ Strad was sec second most in the NFL, only behind Caleb Williams. But also, wide receivers were injured. He has a new offensive coordinator. I believe those two guys are going to hit it off. We make excuses for every other quarterback except Patrick Mahomes and CJ Stout. He still got it done last season and won a playoff game along the way. Lewis, let’s talk about a fellow who was once a number one pick. Kyler Murray, slump or jump in Arizona. Yeah, I think he’s going to make a jump. I think this entire football team is going to make a jump. They’ve done a lot of good work in free agency. Look, he has some tremendous weapons on the perimeter. Trey McBride at tight end is fantastic. He gets talked about within football circles, but I think nationally he can have maybe one of those breakout seasons to where you start talking about him as one of the great great tight ends in the league. Marvin Harrison Jr., he has to really burst onto the scene. From what I hear, he has been having a fantastic camp. They developed some more chemistry between him and and Kyler Murray. I think Kyler takes off. All right. And then let’s talk about the Super Bowl champs. Jaylen Herz, it wasn’t a a sterling regular season. Obviously, the playoffs couldn’t have gone better. Harry, do you expect a slump or a jump? I’m gonna go jump. Just like Chris Cross told us in the 90s. Jump. Jump. Jaylen Herz will make you jump. Jump. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. And it’s because you’re going to have more defenders stacking the box, right? That’s going to lead man coverage one-on-one on the outside with Devonte Smith and also AJ Brown. Dallas got it in the mix as well. Saquon being a receiver out of the back field. So, I’m going to go jump. Let me give you the ultimate testament to how good and how determined Jaylen Herz has been. Kevin Patula will be the offensive play caller for the Eagles this year. He’ll be the fourth different offensive play caller that Jaylen Herz has had in his last four seasons. He’s been the pass game coordinator each of those four years. So, it’s not like he’s new to the building or new to the quarter.

  1. Its funny how its Tuas fault when the team isn't doing well. But with Justin Herbert who has had less success then Tua oh hes the 6th best quarterback in the league. Hypocritical media is hilarious

  2. Itโ€™s only an disaster because he got injured. He was the reason how they were even sniffing the playoffs . If he couldโ€™ve been available they wouldโ€™ve made the playoffs

  3. Well if the Dolphins fall short of the playoffs it's always going to be a legitimate reason they haven't been able to put a strong defense for the whole season together first of all second of all the general manager is the wrench in the gears๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  4. Jerry Jones is just the NFL's version of Donald Trump he is a clown if the Super Bowl was based on circuses the Cowboys would be the all-time winners

  5. And you know it said that a lot of fans don't know the NFL history they should somebody commented they didn't know Boomer was left-handed they should have known that being a NFL fan I put it this way I met a Cincinnati Reds fan he didn't even know who Johnny Bench was much like you didn't know he was one of the best players ever this generation today is so sad๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  6. Lol dolphins are changing what they do to protect tua? Umm hello dolphins pretty much lead the league in rushing while dominating the league in passing. Its not like they didnt run the ball. Shit raheem broke ricky williams record

  7. as a fins fan, we are literally never reaching the SB until JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF gets in the QB position, and even then its wishy washy

also, we can NOT win in cold weather. Please stop hyping up our dumpster fire of a franchise

  8. Louis Riddick was a crappy player and an even worse GM who would listen to that clown show Miami is a seven win squad at best tua is going to get hurt as usual.
