Orioles vs. Astros Game Highlights (8/16/25) | MLB Highlights
Now, please turn your attention to the top of the video board where Billy’s number 13 will officially be retired and cemented into Astros history forever. Please help me congratulate Billy Wagner for his induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame class of 2025. Billy Witch. [Applause] Houston 68 and 54 into the day a half game up on Seattle in the American League West. The Mariners loss at the Mets makes that a full game lead right now. 31 and 2/3 innings pitched. The opponent average at 214. and he has done a phenomenal job filling into this rotation that has been just pummeled by injuries, but he has done a very good job and borderline reliable in that rotation for the Houston Astros. Doing a great job and there’s one away. There’s Jordan Westber right-handed hitting third baseman. Pulled the string there on a change up from there’s a first strike out and there’s two away here in the first. Top of the first, just underway, no score for Gunner Henderson. Ground ball up the middle right there just to the left of second is Dubon. Shortstop throws to first in time and it’s a one, two, three inning for Jason Alexander. Needed just 12 pitches. Astros lineup structured a little differently. Structured like they’re going to face a lefty. They will get Kate Povich as a bulk pitcher today. The Orioles open against this righty heavy lineup with Rico Garcia. One out. Now it’s Jose Aluve’s turn. Right-handed hitting DH batting 281. Three. A slider to freeze out Tuve from Rico Garcia. The Astros have two on with two outs here in the first. The next batter, Ramona Reus. Two offering highf fly left field. It’s shallow. Carlson angles on and he makes the catch ending the inning. Mount Castle is plunked and it’ll head to first base with one out. And now here is Dylan Beavers for his first major league at bat. Number three prospect in the Orio system and swinging a miss. His first major league at bat ends in three pitches in a strikeout. Ball tapped softly past the mound. Fielded by second base by Aras and he fires to first in time to get Mayo to end the inning. Cade Povich now on the pitch for Baltimore. Left-hander expected to be their bolt pitcher this evening. So Smith draws a walk and the leadoff man is on for the Astros in the home second. That’ll bring up Mauricio Duban filling in for Jeremy Pena at shortstop for a second straight day. Pena under the weather. Wild pitch getting a man in a scoring position for the Astros with nobody out. Up the middle. That’s a base hit. Cam Smith around third. He’ll score and Mauricio Don with an RBI single here in the second and the Astros lead it one to nothing. So nobody out and and now it’s Chaz McCormack to the plate. Swing and a miss. McCormack chased a pitch neck level in the middle. So Hovich gets his first strike out and now it’s going to bring Jacob Melton. And as we said, the only lefty in the Astros lineup. Pitch on the way. Cut and a miss. Throw a sweeper away for strike three. That’s backto- back strikeouts on six pitches. And the Astros have two men on with two out. Altuve struck out looking his first time up. Pitch swing and a miss through a change up and Altuve goes down. Backto back innings where he struck out. Povich K’s three in the second. Here’s Dylan Carlson the left fielder. Another left-handed batter right on top of the plate. Carlson off the end of the bat. A looping fly to right center. Chaz, I should say Jacob Melton couldn’t get there. And here’s Carlson all the way to third. Dylan Carlson drops in a triple past a diving Jacob Melton. And the Orioles first hit sit of the night. That’ll bring up their leadoff man Jackson Holiday with the infield in. It’s a one hopper right back to the mound. Alexander’s got it. Races toward third. They got him in a pickle. Kareah has got it. Throws home and he’s out. Yander Diaz with the tag. Nice play by Jason Alexander, the pitcher. As soon as he got it, looked at third and he had the runner off the base. And Kade Povich, who goes against Yander Diaz, swinging a miss, chase the change up down to the dirt. Another strike out for Povich. That’s his fourth this entry of the ball game and the fifth by Orioles pitching tonight. Walker swings through a change up and Kate Povich has the strikeout pitch working. That’s five strikeouts out of his five outs. Check swing. Did he operate it? He did. at the home plate umpire said you took that pitch as a strike with the swing. That’s a strike out for Kate Kovich. He fans the side. Two outs here in the fourth inning. Mount Castle will bat. Swing and a miss. Got him. Alexander through four. Astros going to the bottom of the fourth leading one to nothing. Now you’re in a pickle. So the Astros with the bases loaded. Here comes Jacob Melton the lefty. And the Astros have a real shot to increase their one- nothing lead. Hit to the left side and through. Jacob Melton coming up with the bases loaded and the Astros lead it two to nothing. A huge swing of the bat as Jacob Melton drives in his seventh run as a big leager. Carlos Kareah coming to the dish. Yeah, he has been really good since getting traded over. This one hit to the right side and through. That’ll score at least one. They’re going to hold up Chaz at third base. And that’s an RBI single for Carlos Kareah. And the Astros now lead it three to nothing. They got a big one brewing here. Here’s Jose Altuve. Altuve with a helmet flying swing. And that’ll bring up Yiner Diaz now with one away. It’s a 2-2 swinging a ground ball in the middle of the diamond. Henderson races after it. Runs to the bag to get one. Fires to first in time to get the double play. A much needed ball on the ground and a 663 Twin. Killing stops the bleeding here in the fourth. And there are two away. Uh base hit to Daniel Johnson. And it will bring up Dylan Carlson who is Baltimore’s other hit. He tripled with one out in the third. Carlson demolishes one to right. Dylan Carlson up to the second deck. Home runs in backto back games. Triple. And now a two-run homer for Dylan Carlson. And the Orioles are on the board with two outs and nobody on. They get a single and a two-run home run to make this a one-run game. swing and a miss. It was the change up and Holiday badly fooled. He strikes out the fifth for Alex the fourth for Alexander and that ends the inning. The Orioles get on the board thanks to Carlson’s two-run homer and we’re through four and a half. Two gone here in the fifth inning. A one-run Astros lead three to two. Strike three called at the top of the zone. A sinker which freezes Smith. And so that was a fast inning for Kate Pulovich. Astros with a three to2 lead over the Orioles as we start the sixth. And a swing and a foul tip held on to by Diaz. High fast ball. Here’s Gunnar Henderson. Grounded out twice. Strike three called. Alexander has struck out three in a row and six in the game. Two out. Ground ball pulled right side to his left. Second baseman Aras has it. Throws to first in time and it’s a one, two, three inning for Jason Alexander. Kate Povich will return to work. Bottom of the sixth inning. There’s one away. And he’s getting swings and misses in bunches here. That’s 16 swings and misses now for Kade. A new careerh high. Swinging a miss. He struck him out. A double bigger strikeout night for the lefty Kade Povich. New pitcher, right-hander Kate Strad for Baltimore. Astros lead 3-2. Bottom of the seventh. José Altoube looking to put a ball in play. He is 0 for three with three strikeouts. Alt gets this one deep and it is off the wall. Altuve around second. and he’ll head for third and he’ll get there. That’s a homer. Bill Miller, the second base umpire, went out there. His hands went sideways. Bill Miller, the crew chief, circles the finger and that’s a homer for Altuve, his 22nd. On the board again. Now they lead it four to two. Astros with a 4-2 lead over the Orioles as we start the eighth. New pitcher for Houston is lefty Bennett Souza facing Dylan Carlson and he hops this one in for ball four. So that is a leadoff walk for Bennett Souza and it’s going to send the tying run up to the plate in the form of Jackson Holiday as Holiday looking for his first hit of the night. He has gone 0 for three. Holiday destroys it to right field. He ties the game. A left on left from Jackson Holiday. And that pitch that’s been so good for Bennett Souza this season ends up out over the plate and Jackson Holiday makes him pay. Orioles getting their four runs thanks to a couple of two-run homers. 4-4 game. Astros and Orioles tied as we start the ninth. And Brian Abrau is on for the Astros. Dylan Beavers standing in 0 for three in his first big league game with two strikeouts. He swings at the first pitch from Brian Abrau. That’s down for a hit off the right field wall. Dylan Beavers is in the books. His first big league hit. A leadoff ninth inning double against one of the nastiest pitchers in baseball. And he now represents the go-ahead run for the Orioles here in the top half of the ninth. Swing and a miss. One away. Mayo strikes out. One away. Swing and a miss. Huge strike out for Brian Abrau. So Beaver still at third, but two outs in the infield. Can back up. Strike him out. Brian Abrau strikes out three in the ninth and works around a leadoff double. Back-to-back strikeouts for ends, but there are two outs. And Victor Keratini, the last position player on Joe Aspatada’s bench, will pinch hit for Sanchez to second. Holiday plays the hop and this game goes to 11. Astro Strand a couple and the Orioles have a runner at third with one out. Beaver stands in now. He doubled for his first big league hit in the ninth. Hits that one right at that is a line drive and that’s going to be a double play. What a way to end the top half of the 11th inning. And now the Astros have the winning run 90 ft away. Pñena not starting for a second straight day because he was under the weather and now he’s going to be intentionally walked. Trel drops down the bunt. Here’s the throw to the plate and he is out at home. Tried the squeeze play and Aras out at the plate as Taylor Trmell bunted it to the first base side and there’s one away. 02 swinging a miss. Two away. Back to the top of the order and Carlos Koreah bouncer to the right side. Jackson Holiday will throw out Kareah and we’ll go to the 12th inning. It looks like they’re going to put Altuve on. So Altuve on first base, Kareah on second base. Yander Diaz to the plate. Right side scoop there by Holiday. He’ll only have one play and that’s at first base. Yeah. How did they not? Cuz I thought that was an easy double play ball to be had by Jackson Holiday, but he opted to get the sure out at first base. So they’ll walk Walker to load the bases. Set up a double play. Arias to the plate. The bases are loaded and one out. Raone Aras bouncer to third. Second for one to first base and the Astros win it. Ramon Aras the game winner against his former team. And in 12, the Astros with a walk-off win, five to

Life hack: always keep a stash of chocolate in your bedside table for emergencies🌺
Probably the ugliest win i’ve ever seen 😂😂 but at this rate i’ll take any win we can get 🫣
that was the worst win ive ever seen. Love my team tho
Let’s go Stros congrats to Billy
Great way to bounce back after yesterday’s bad loss!
Congrats Billy Wagner!
Ugliest freaking win I’ve seen a while.
Like it it read 713 😂 lol nice
A wins a win but we shouldn’t be having to go into extras with teams like these 🤦🏽♂️
I was at this game it was crazy 😂 go Astros 🎉🎉🎉
11th inning might be the worst extra inning I've ever seen. Man on third-no outs is a gimme. Terrible.
Venga Astros!!🧡💙🤍💫⚾️
Yesterday was a beating, Today was a fight, and Tomorrow is Revenge.
Urias, the king of destroying the Orioles with arid throws
I love how y'all arranged them to where is shows "713" 🤟
Heheheheh funny 69 wins
Both teams deserved to lose. 😂
ASTROS: THE NEW AMERICA'S TEAM!😊
What a strange decision by the BAL 3B! Throwing home is much higher percentage than trying for a 5-4-3 double play. I’m pretty sure it was “hard hit ball on the infield, throw home.” WHEW!
Let’s go
When the Astros win, America wins.
I think that might be the first time I've ever seen a beaten out double play as a walk off. If I remember correctly, that doesn't count as a hit (rather as a fielder's choice) but it does count as an RBI.
Ese manager de los Astros es malísimo.
J Alexander has been golden for us
The Stros have to change the third base coach. He’s way too hesitant with a team that struggles to score. Cam had to run through a stop sign in the first game of the series. It’s a joke.
that was the dumbest, stupidest game of all time. i loved it.
Chaz McCormick sux
Astros 💯
Ive been sayin it, we love to play down to other teams level.
Coo
LOL, Blummer calls Alexander "almost reliable" in the rotation. That had to have been one of the ugliest wins ever.
This was one of the worst games I’ve ever watched 💀💀💀. So painful to watch
Billy Wagner hit 100 routinely as a lefty who was born a righty. His walk out video was always my favorite too, him shaking off 3, 2, and nodding to 1, with fire in his eyes, and fire on the baseball when he threw it. You had to be there
Bro I’m sorry but Astros are an above average team. I have full on dedicated years to them after 2022 and 2017 those were 2 very lucky years. We can’t ever be consistent we can’t bat. Our pitching is trash. We’re not going anything this season. If we do I’ll be surprised. Tuve and peña can’t carry the team I was at this game what a joke
Congratulations Billy The Kid Wagner. God bless you and your family
Go Stros
Espada's poor management skills were on full display during this game. I am just hoping that Jason Alexander stays in the rotation when Lance McCullers comes back. Lance doesn't deserve to be in the rotation.
Definitely Needs Yordan Alvarez
What kind of water does Houston give the pitchers that come here from other teams to improve their ERA's and WHiP?
Congrats Billy 🎉🎉
