  1. Time to win this series so they can give us hope back before yanking it away when we play the dodgers next.

  2. It was too early to celebrate before the Dodger series and too early to doom right now. There still are quite a few games left so expect a rollercoaster of emotions, but just enjoy the ride.

  3. Let’s get it going, that Dodger series was a little embarrassing just cause of all the eyes on Padres Vs Dodgers

  5. Let’s see how this team responds to adversity. Got to pick themselves up and sweep this shitty Giants team

  6. Next offseason I’d like AJ to trade some prospects for a sports psychologist to get the Dodgers out of these guys’ heads

  7. Well that series went pretty much as bad as possible.

First game winnable but uncharacteristic errors led to loss.
Second game starter 6 walks which led to runs. Lost on a 2-hitter giving up 5 runs.
Third game crawled back from shaky 1st inning to throw it away when our closer enters in the 8th and immediately gives up a nuke.

All three games were absolutely competitive and winnable. Thats the true takeaway for me. We pretty much performed our WORST (especially top of the lineup. Yeesh.) and still almost took 2 games.

Need to be goldfish and get our shit back on track today. We are still capable of taking the division and are in a good spot for October. Thats all that really matters.

Top of the lineup needs a fucking pow-wow and mixup though. Overdue to shake up a constant shit performance.

  8. As Daddy Yankee use to say “Lo Que Pasó, Pasó”
LFGSD 🤎💛 It is what it is now let’s focus on SF and sweep these F’ing Smurfs this weekend at Petco!!!

  9. Theres a little over a month left in the regular season, can’t doom too hard. Let’s make it to October 🫡

  10. So, here we are again. Way I look at is with the exception of those walks in the second game, we were there or thereabouts. We weren’t blown out of the water by any stretch of the imagination.

We can take the Giants and sweep into the series against the Dodgers again, this time at PP.

It’s a new week. Have a good feeling about Nasty Nestor. LFGSD!

  11. Hopefully we can take out our frustrations on the Giants again. Let’s get our mojo back

  12. Waking up to an email about the LA sweep was the worst way to start my week (I’m in the Middle East)

  13. I’m confounded by the complete meltdown in this sub the last few days. Nobody should be sweating a 3 game series in August, even against LAD. Some will argue it’s a logical fallacy, but I’d be much more nervous if we went into a postseason series against the Dodgers having dominated them in the regular season. Get the losses out of the way now.

  14. At least this week will be less stressful matchups. Oh wait!
But fr though why the hell is the schedule built like it is this season? I couldn’t imagine a worse formula for MLB ratings and just overall team travel strain, and it isn’t even just the Padres too.

  15. Dodgers live in the padres core players head rent free, haunted by last years melt down carried onto this past weekend series

  16. Fernando against the Rockies: 3 HR in 6 games

Fernando against the D-Backs, Giants, and Dodgers: 1 HR in 29 games

(He’s hit decently well against those 3 teams overall — combined line of .308/.426/.421. But the lack of slug is, again, frustrating)

  17. Our lack of slugging (particularly home run power) will continue to make our offensive efforts difficult with obvious heavy reliance on pitching/defense. There’s no two ways about it, power is absolutely vital to an offense. On Sunday, LA scored all their runs on 3 bombs in two innings whereas the Pads grinded the entire game just to tie and lose. Not saying getting hits and getting on base is overvalued, but you need the best of both OBP & SLG (aka our good friend OPS) to be a complete offense. The lack of power puts our OPS at tied for 20th.

Here’s some food for thought. Of the 20 teams that made the world series in the Statcast Era (since 2015), only four of those teams were not in the Top 10 in team SLG% : The 2015 Royals (.412, 11th) , 2015 Mets (.400, 17th), 2020 Rays (.425, 15th), and the 2023 Diamondbacks (.408, 17th).

    The Good: It isn’t impossible.
The Bad: That’s only 20% of world series teams.
The Ugly: Those four teams *still* had better slug than the 2025 Padres (.383).

Honorable Mention: The 2014 Giants won the Fall Classic with a .383 SLG%, *but* it was a different game then. The average SLG% that year was .386. The average this year is .403.

  18. Man I’ve tried multiple times to like the Locked On Padres podcast, I can’t. The guys on there are so corny and just weird small takes.

  19. I’m still thinking about how they sent Suarez out there.

With Miller he probably holds and gives Suarez a chance for another save.

  20. This weekend sucked. But just imagine for a minute, that going into our next and last series against the Dodgers, we are both tied for first place. And even better, we sweep their asses back to being three games behind the division lead. Food for thought.
