Quarterback Michael Ojamier is joining the Cowboys to help provide some depth in a very banged up quarterback room the Cowboys are dealing with right now. This is a you got to get somebody in here who knows the defense to an extent and can help provide a body essentially to get through the remainder of the preeason and the training camp portion that’s left for the Cowboys. Uh Ojimoodia spent the 2025 spring with the DC Defenders. He is a former third round pick by the way and briefly overlaps with Matt Iberluse in Chicago. Funny how that one pops up again. We’re going to break down the signing, what it means, or the roster move is probably going to come for the Cowboys as well. Just been a uh a whirlwind morning for the Dallas Cowboys. All right, let’s break down who Michael Ojamood’s what he’s done in his career. He was a third round pick out of Iowa back in 2020. Spent his first couple seasons with the Denver Broncos. Played a lot in his first season, then, you know, kind of got nicked actually started 11 games in that first year, but then has had one start since then. Briefly with the Bears in 2022, got on the field as a, you know, end of season special teamer with the Rams in 2023, practice squad in preseason, Cardinals in 2024, played then for the DC Defenders, uh, this past spring. He has the size. The Cowboys always find a way to love. You can almost set your watch to it. Like I if you’ve got length and size and you’re relatively tall at corner, the Cowboys are probably going to have interest in you. He’s 61 200 lb. Arm length is 32 and a/4 inch arms. That’s 78th percentile or above in all three of those figures. It’s just how the Cowboys feel about those players. They love those types of guys with the length. This is just going to be a a a depth piece. This this is someone who fits the mold the Cowboys like and they as we’ll break down in depth in a minute, they’re having a tough time surviving the remainder of this preseason. So, give me your oneword reaction to the Michael Ojermoodia signing who is a fine one. Why not Gilmore? All his one words I I guess uh works as well. This isn’t really a type of move that is supposed to be a piece for you that is supposed to increase what you have in the roster to benefit you. The Cowboys are tremendously banged up right now at corner. Like tremendously banged up. We’ll see if Kalin Carson starts week one if he’s available at all. Thought Andrew Booth, Kaman Hall, Zion Childress played pretty well. But the defensive backs, look, to put it in more crystal context here, they’re hurt. Trayvon Diggs is a question mark for week week one. I don’t think Savone Rebel is going to play week one. Josh Butler seems unlikely. Kaylin Carson is a question mark. He is not available for this upcoming preseason game. Robert Relle missed last week. We’ll see if he’s back this time around. I’ve got questions there. Christian Matthew had joined the team to help you get through the preseason because he over overlapped with Mattie Moose in Chicago. He’s hurt now. Bruce Harmon got hurt in the second preseason game. Elijah Clark who is a safety, he missed the second preseason game. You’re not going to play Ka Elum. I don’t think you’re definitely not going to play Don Bland in that third and final preseason matchup. So all of the sudden before you added uh Ojamuda you’ve got five corners to play in the preseason because SJ gobin does not play in the preseason. He’s not a cornerback really anyway. He’s just an athlete and Izzy Muamu played a ton of safety this past week. So kind of what you’re staring down the barrel of is if Izz is going to play safety it’s Nicholls and Kaman Hall Zion Childress. Andrew Booth might freaking start for you week one in Troy Pride. Shoot. There’s a chance you’re not done adding corners right now because you are so banged up in the short term. Long-term, I guess you’ll be okay if you like Andrew Booth, which you know, I’ve got thoughts on that one, but they don’t have the bodies to survive right now at the cornerback spot. Uh he has played a little bit in the over the course of his NFL career. 73 tackles. Again, he mostly played early in his career in Denver where he had 11 starts and had 62 of those tackles in that season. He actually hasn’t recorded a tackle since 2021 in an NFL regular season game. Has never had an interception, nine pass breakups, did force four fumbles in his first season, which was kind of uh kind of impressive crazy uh on that front. Also did start 11 games in that first season. The coverage numbers were iffy at best. Um, you know, he he did a little bit uh in terms of like, you know, was actually 61.4% in his first season. Was down to 53.8, but it’s 9.3 yards per target, 15.1 uh yards per completion. Not overly impressive. Not, you know, the worst type of stuff necessarily either. So, that’s kind of how it goes. I don’t think he makes the roster. And we’ll go why in depth here in a little bit, but what do you think? Does Michael Ojamuria make the Cowboys roster? For as banged up as the Dallas Cowboys are, it’ll be hard almost impossible for Michaelia to make this Dallas Cowboys team. But that’s also not the goal of this, which different conversation, but we’ll focus on this part to start. This is not a we upgraded our quarterback room with this move. This is a we have to survive the next week and a half like what do can we get someone in here quickly who’s intelligent who can learn the defense who played a little bit of it under Matt Refloose and we can survive. That’s what this is. This is just trying to get through the remainder of the preeason. A roster move by the way will be needed here. The Cowboys don’t have a free spot available at this moment. I think history tells us what is likely to happen here. I expect someone to go on injured reserve. I think Bruce Harmon, who got banged up, don’t have the full details, or Christian Matthew, guys that were never going to make your 53man roster anyway, were frankly long shots to be practice squad players as well. Either one of those guys makes this. They probably should just cut them, but they’re probably going to get waved injured, waved with the injury designation or just put on IR. And then those guys will get bought out from injured reserve. Then they’ll get released. the Cowboys will save money in the end. If they really like a Bruce Harman, they can stash him on injured reserve for the entire season. I don’t really think that’s going to be a path there. Instead, they’ll add uh Michael Jamood to get through the rest of of the preseason and then they’ll put someone else on IR. And in the end, we’re still kind of at the exact same spot with the quarterback room where I don’t know if it’s good enough, but that’s a future conversation for a different day. [Music]
